The location was unique! A view of beautiful mountains with water falls from our window was nice. It was well inside the swiss military airport, so we enjoyed watching aircrafts' landing and take off.The wooden room was beautifully decorated. Staff could have been friendlier. Terrible experience with dining in the restaurant: we had to eat and pay for an extra dish that we didn't order!!And had to pay for another dish which was different from the order and could not even eat cause it had pork!
the staff were very welcoming and pleasant, the buffet breakfast was complete and delicious The room comfort did not match the wonderful charm of the hotel.
Friendly staff and good location Very small bathroom
Hospitality, friendly employees, decent impression
Beautifull modern renovated hotel in the centre of Meiringen, with very friendly and helpfull staff. Great breakfast buffet and a fine restaurant. Our room was light, clean and pleasant to stay in. We would definitely recomend this hotel! A little fridge in the room would have been nice and the diner prices in the restaurant are relatively high. Because of perfect location in the centre it's easy to find an alternative restaurant nearby.
The hotel is kept very clean and in a good location to explore the surrounding mountains and lakes. Ample free parking for guests. If you plan on eating in the restaurant or bistro make sure you bring a book or because you will be in for a long wait. The food is really overpriced (chf 40.- for 6 shrimps in a plain curry) and some of the serving staff can't seem to motivate themselves to be friendly to their guests. Although in their rooms they promote the local water to be the best in the world, don't try to order a glass of tap water in the restaurant (with a 2 course meal and wine), they won't like it and will tell you so whilst pushing for you to order expensive bottled water. The hotel lobby gets used as an office by the management tohave difficult meetings with their staff, which can lead to awkward situations in which the guests are asked to leave!
Center of village, staff attitude, close to tourist atractions, parking, clearness of room' rich breakfast room size very small
Clean hotel, great breakfast, friendly staff. Wish breakfast had started earlier so we could have caught an earlier train.
Attention to detail on everything that would make guests feel very comfortable, at home; e.g. plates of dried/fresh fruits and nuts in various places give a very warm welcome to guests. Simon's cuisine was definitely the best, something to look forward to after a day's outing in the Alps.
The view of the falls from our window balcony
view, food, pool main menu not translated
honestly not much except proximity to cable car staff were a mixed bag. The one boiled egg looked too lonely to eat at breakfast and the staff didn't really care.
Clean, owner always about and helpful, good breakfasts, pleasant English speaking staff WiFi expensive and only available in reception area, limited parking, over priced
excellent hotel, excellent service
Good location (a short walk from the station and shops), plenty of storage space in the rooms, well equipped rooms (safe, fridge and electric stove).
Good location for a stop over en route to elsewhere. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent as was breakfast. Staff were very friendly.
Ezcellent for dog owners We could only get luke warm water from the shower
clean, good restraurant got woke up at 5am by noise from other guests (or staff), noise continued for hours
It is very convenient to the lake steamer, the Swiss National Railways station, and the station of the narrow-gauge mountain cog railway. I felt at a disadvantage because I didn't / don't speak German
Weisses Kreuz is very conveniently located right by the railway and bus stations and the pier (boat trips on the lake) and the start of the Brienz Rothorn Bahn. Our room was at the back overlooking the steam-powered Rothorn Bahn - great for children and railway buffs - and who could object to being woken by the sound of a steam engine? (they don't run frequently, so not a huge problem). Although the parking space is a bit limited, it does not have to be reserved (contrary to what the website says). The dining room usually seemed a bit understaffed - often only one waitress trying to do everything, including washing up behind the bar. Our bathroom extractor fan didn't work and didn't get fixed (though I have to admit we only reported it the once, partly because of the language problem) and there were a number of minor housekeeping problems - not worth complaining about, but detracting from our sense of value for money. The hotel advertises free wi-fi: it accepted the code but neither I nor another British guest could get it to work. I didn't bother to report this (language again!).
Nice view from the room on the lake side. Best location to ride Rothorn Bahn and train to Interlaken. Nice staff. Breakfast was minimum level.
The central location permitted ealking to all points of interest in the area. A minor problem was the traffic noise because we like to sleep with windows open.
The location is superb. The room was clean with all necessary amenities. Staff was often busy and unavailable.
The staff were fantastic, the breakfasts generous, the location gorgeous and convenient to transport. I was surprised how quiet Brienz is out of season, but it was a very enjoyable stay.
Great view of the lake and across from the rail station. No services after 11PM. Old and small t.v. with only CNN available in English.
The breakfast was nice - lovely spot. Most of the staff was very helpful. We liked the location of the hotel and the possibility of using the bikes. We were disappointed that the three person room we had did not look like the one on the internet picture. We had a cot which was not comfortable. We had hoped to have the room that had a living area with a couch in it that converted to a bed. This felt like false advertising.
Breakfast,lake views, wireless
It was our first stay at this Hotel which we chose because of its location close to the Äareslucht". We stayed at teh hotel with friends. And were pleased on all points: rooms with balcony at lake-side, and a second room under the roof. The second room was more modern, which we liked, and had a nice view on the lake, and a modern bathroom. The hotel is a real family run hotel, even with a very personal newsletter composed by the owners in teh info map (other than the usual touristic info): in all very pleasant and friendly atmosphere. Dinner and breakfast on a terrace with splendid lake and mountain view. Sufficient parkingspace is available right.
great staff~ very helpful in 3 languages...
We liked the friendly atmosphere in the hotel and the comfort of the room we had. Can't think of anything we didn't like.
Nice & spacious rooms. Rooms are clean but the carpet is not. Staffs do not nicely communicate. Expensive for the kind of services delivered and the given grade.
Excellent location and wonderful staff.
clean and comfortable pesky flies in the room, street noise
The hotel staff, owner Peter and wife Erica >> and their daughter. Peter and Erica provided us a wonderful stay and took us up to a near village to research my wife's ancestry (Weissenflu). I will never forget the hospitatlity and wonderful stay they afforded us. Sp personable! Not one!
beautiful, peaceful location no
