Exceptionally clean and comfortable hotel with fantastically friendly staff who made every effort possible to make you feel welcome. Pub downstairs a little noisy but nothing discomforting.
lovely and warm on a very cold weekend
close to town, food stairs abit dangerous
Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and excellent food. Very nice environment in which to spend a weekend away.
Friendly staff. Cleanliness of room. Food very good Room facilities a bit basic but reasonable given cost
we had a lovely evening meal ,staff were very nice , very cold room ,broken shower water went everywhere but my body and it was held together with tape, we felt springs badly in matress ,
There were no coathangers in the room and when we asked for some it was like we were asking for something special. Water not particularly hot for a shower.
I have stayed at this hotel previously, but not very a few years. Rooms have been improved but the hotel has maintianed it's historic character
Close proximity to the centre of Shrewsbury We chose to pay extra for breakfast, but it seemed as though it was too much of an effort with the lady in the breakfast room - we ended up just having tea, cereal and toast because it felt 'uncomfortable'.
Lovely old building. They tried to charge me for breakfasts I hadn't had because they assumed I was with a group of others staying at the same time.
The staff members were all very friendly, the food was very good with an interesting menu, and the quaintness of the town and the hotel made for a very fun stay!
Rooms were clean and staff were friendly and helpful Breakfast was good with plenty to eat. I would definately stay again.
Very friendly, relaxed hotel, food reasonable. Breakfast service excellent. TV was set as Radio, could not change to TV.
Stay was dissapointing, expectation was high with a rate of £94.50 ! Rooms are very sad and tired, bathroom was poor, shower thermostat was broken. Hotel needs several thousand £ spent to bring it up to a comfortable standard. Evening meal was excellent and staff were good.
Friendly, clean, good food and service and value for money. They also serve Bass in the bar. No
Nice hotel - excellent food on offer in the pub. Lovely cooked breakfast.
Staff very friendly - location was great - easy to get to - prices very reasonable - Air con in room very noisey - mentioned at time of leaving - didn't get much sleep
Good room and good breakfast, what else is their to say. Road noise
Nice rooms, friendliness towards children
Quiet location, great housekeeping standards and great little restaurant!
Pleasant surroundings and good atmosphere No shaver points or telephones in room
Staff were efficient friendly especially the manager who made our stay very welcoming. We would definatly be recommending your hotel to friends and family and would definatly return in the future There wasnt any
Room was well equiped, comfortable and every thing worked. Breakfast was very good and price about average for what we got. We would do it again. Noise from the street every night, people and traffic. Lack of on site parking is very difficult.
I stayed here for just one night, I usually stay at Holiday Inn or similar. I found the quality, comfort and friendliness of staff to be quite exceptional, one of the most comfortable hotels that I have ever stayed in and I will be using this hotel in the future. My only niggle would be a slight draught from the window but saying that, the age and caracture of the building makes this acceptable.
A warm welcome in a relaxed setting. Great location for shopping and going out! The room was clean and attractive and had everything we needed for a short stay. The food in the restaurant was lovely and the service again was friendly and attentive! Toilets in restaurant in the morning were not clean. In fact extremely dirty!! We were there quite early but I do expect toilets to be cleaned before you open.
Morgans was a clean modern pub/ hotel No heating on first night. The prices charged were not the same as shown on the internet - ie Breakfast was more expensive than advertised. Traffice noise was bad
Excellent breakfast No mirror in bedroom near socket plug to dry hair, & not much room to walk round bed. Room 1
Friendly staff and the room was modern and well fitted out. Bathroom had good facilities. Breakfast good in a pleasant surrounding. Room very small and cramped. But OK for a 1 night stay or for just a single person use. Would not want to spend longer.
The room had lots of space and the bath room was lovely. Bed was very comfortable Needs to be a mirror in the main room. There was only 1 large and 1 small towel for myself and boyfriend.
Fantastic hotel, comfy bed, good bathroom, clean and modern, great service and lovely breakfast! Full length mirror really needed in the room and thicker curtains to block out the light!
Rooms clean and well furnished. Excellent bathroom facilities, brilliant shower and plenty of hot water Parking can be difficult in Shrewsbury but staff are helpful in guiding you in this respect.
Very friendly staff, beautiful house and grounds.
Beautiful Welsh country. Beautiful hotel and bahroom. The hotel didn't appear on my GPS system in the car, so we had a bit trouble finding it. Once there everything was OK.
we left early (6am), and still had a great breakfast left for us
My wife and I both thought the rooms were fantastic, our room, The Mainstone Suite was absolutely lovely, the food was first class and the staff very friendly, Leigh ensured that allour needs were met.
The location was absolutely beautiful. It was a lovely hotel with real character and each room was individually decorated in a unique style. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Only that there was no de-caffeinated coffee in the bedrooms.
The location is in a stunning area of natural beauty ideal for relaxing walks and a chance to unwind.
A refreshing change to have an individually styled hotel & to be treated in a friendly manner, rather than just one of a number of guests. Signage to the hotel could be better
We enjoy the beautiful location and impressive architecture of the hotel.
Amazing location and, having been given an upgrade to a suite, the views were breathtaking. Excellent service upon arrival and in the bar and restaurant. Little disappointed that upon checking out, we were not asked whether we had enjoyed our stay and did we have any issues . We did not eat in the main restaurant for dinner as we were in a hurry and chose the bar. Food was very poor, fish was dry and burger as tough as an old boot - maybe it was the chef's night off. However, breakfast the following morning was superb.
Hotel is getting rather dated
excellent meals Hotel looking shabby but I understand it has recently been taken over.
Service for dinner in the golf clubhouse was far better than in the hotel where it was very poor Dining rom service at dinner
not a lot the price - very expensive for what was in effect a motel room the room itself - no heating or hot water room very badly located - outside, to another block & up a fire escape which was badly lit to try and find a room number that was not lit. What if it had been raining as well as dark? I asked for a double bed and got given a twin room with no explanation.
Staff were polite and friendly. Checkin and out quick Room looked very shabby and tired.
The Follies in the park
The rooms were small so a bit of a squash with a travel cot.
Pleasant staff who served room service Room was cold - although it's still august weather pretty chilly for time of year!!
everything was perfect good food/rooms excellent staff
A step into a gentler time. Beautiful scenery. Most welcoming. Lots of history. 'Shabby Chic' style.
Good breakfast and excellent meal at Chambers The car parking arrangements
Helpful staff. Good food in the restaurants. Being rushed through dinner as there was a large party in.
Very comfortable and well and conveniently situated in the town. Did not find one of the check in people very friendly.
Location and external appearance. Cracks in the tiles; holes in the walls; dank view of the internal courtyard. Before I stayed at the hotel I believed it was a three-star going on four, but now I know it's going on two. Time for a total internal refurbishment...
We loved the location and the breakfast was first class, cooked to order too. The bedroom was on the small side.
the location is perfect and a beautiful old building also the bathroom was really awful
The reception staff in particular were very helpful
The location was great. The breakfast was even better. All in all a great stay. n/a
Have stayed here before and found it a pleasant and convenient place to stay in Shrewsbury. Will most likely be back again in the New Year. Thank you
relaxed and personal touch. quiet and not crowded
A traditional country house in a secluded and pleasant location with high quality renovations and good service.
A very friendly & welcoming B&B. Glorious surroundings. Nicely preserved old building. Room & facilities very good. Food at local pub, Kerry Lamb very good & reasonably priced.
comfort and cleanliness, no
We loved this Guest House. Paul was a lovely host and the guest house was beautiful, clean and very spacious.
Greeting was friendly and welcoming; introduction to facilities was very good; accommodation was warm, clean and spacious. Food of good standard.
The Forest Guest House was beautiful, the rooms were spotless, the breakfast was really good and Paul and Michelle were great. Can't wait to visit again - A+++
We valued the quiet efficiency of the staff/owners who were always available, but unobtrusive. The house and surrounding area were beautiful, and the recommended gastropub in the vicinity lived up to expectation.A return visit is essential!
the house, the owners, the chickens and dog,and the breakfast he broke one of my eggs on the first day but he learns fast
Very big ensuite room , even though it was a single. Felt like I was the first to use the room, which is how it should be! No bad points
The landlord was friendly and tried to makeup for the initial failure of the online booking system. The breakfast was good. On arrival, no room had been booked due to a failure to inform the landlord by the booking agent. Fortunately, I doubled up with a friend who was already there. Overall impression was of a general shabbiness and lack of maintenance. The shared bathroom door didn't lock; the bedroom light switch was at the far end of the room; the bed wasn't made; etc etc.
breakfast was well presented and very filling lots of choice coffe and tea pipping hot
Breakfast excellent. staff very helpfull and polite. Hotel could be good with some tender loving care and an update on decor.
The breakfast, hot, plenty of it and plenty of choice. The manager was very accomadating and cooked a mean breakfast. The hotel.
Warm & friendly staff. A long way up to top floor to carry a my overnight bag.
Friendliness of the staff and an interesting location
the food was very good and value for money
Not a lot! Compared to the "lodges" it was pretty basic. Most of it - it was not of a high standard. a bit like Fawlty Towers! It was all locked up when we got there even though we were an hour after the check in time.
Very friendly landlord Internet not working
Made to feel very welcome by everybody. Food was excellent. Rooms were lovely. A nice friendly atmosphere. Would definately go back.
I would recommend this hotel to everybody , excellent value for money.
The Crown inn is a real Gem. The rooms are spotless and the owners are very helpful and genuine people who want the paying guest to really enjoy being there. The food was very good , and the Breakfasts were very filling and tasty....A great base for walkers and cyclists ...right in the middle of the countryside ...no traffic ...no noise....I thought I had gone deaf........give it a go.......the Real Ale Fans amongst you will also be in for a pleasant suprise, as the two cask ales on were in tip top condition. We would not hesitate in going back to the Crown. Pity it does not open in the afternoons .....
Our room was lovely, very spacious, the staff were welcoming. It was just a stop off for us on our way to a wedding and it worked perfect. We would stay there agin.
Friendly and very obliging proprietors - nothing was too much trouble More privacy to make a land-line call as no mobile signal. Land line was in bar. No great problem, just a comment
The owners were very friendly without being intrusive. The food served in the inn was good quality and very good value. Comfortable rooms.
Queit cozy place but within few minutes of town square. Family-run informality, excellent breakfast. The breakfast window of 8-9 on a Sunday was too early, too short. The room cleaners also worked only till 11 on Sunday which was surprising.
Friendly greeting on arrival, comfortable room and a great breakfast.Would stay again.
I only stayed one night, but my overall impression was of an efficiently run hotel. There was nothing I disliked.
situation, very convenient could do with a few finishing touches
The bathroom tiles and the wifi I found the brekfast staff unpleasant. It seemed as if he didn't want to be there - he keep banging the plates and cups about - in fact another breakfaster commented upon this. He was quite grumpy. Maybe he should look for a new job. The cleaning lady and the young girl were much nicer.
Very central setting. Welcoming owners. Parking is an issue in the mornings
Good location, close to shops, restaurants and attractions but on a quiet(ish) road; easy to come and go when we wanted and a car park nearby. Service a bit uninspired; certainly not the friendliest hotel we have stayed in. Decor a bit tired and old fashioned.
Comfortable bed. Lots of clean white towels. Interesting old building. Handy for river. Noisy (near building site and pubs). Instant coffee with breakfast. Lots of stairs to climb with suitcase. Overpowering "air fresheners". No thermostat on radiator. Owner not particularly friendly.
Clean and tidy, staff helpful and friendly No Parking, tv reception was poor.
The room was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.
Excellent staff, excellent facilities, no fault in any way
The service was excellent and very welcoming, they could not do enough for you. The room was excellent, very clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was delicious and you could choose what ever you wanted. There were not any bad points.
bed, breakfast, warmth of room. evening meal .
Excellent value for money. Spotless and very welcoming. Spacious rooms with every need catered for. Lovely breakfast - you can eat as healthily or unhealthily as you want!
Very efficient, clean and friendly
Location good for us
The bed was very comfortable - best night sleep for ages! Heater was broken and though pointed out, the portable heater didn't appear
Comfortable clean room of acceptable standard. good value for money Food facilities very poor.Unclean tables, chipped glass jug, tumbler for wine, food of very poor quality and presentation even for budget hotel. It definately let the rest of the hotels standard down. £30 for two drinks two starters two mains one pudding that were definately not worth the money.
Nothing - staff were slack, and our room was not made up one day. Would not stay there again. Hard to find - need clear signs on corners near the Hotel, and a big sign on the building as you approach.
The very friendly. helpful staff. The large and clean rooms and large shower. There was hardly any hot water for teh shower, the information in teh room said it was possible to have food on an evening at teh hotel, we were told that it wasnt possible. Also, you charge £5.45 for a glass of wine - thats totally over priced!
Manager and reception staff excellent. Bed as very comfortable and bedroom well fitted and very clean. The bathroom was reasonably spacious with good fitments and spacious shower with seat... a good touch.
the bed and the breakfast
We were very impressed with the Wroxeter, the staff were very helpful on all matters, the room ,facilities, bed and the view were everything you would need for a perfect stay, infact we were so impressed,we encouraged our friends to spent time here too. No
There was no fruit on the breakfast menu allso no continental breakfast
Friendly and helpful A varied choice of breakfast
The position of the hotel is very quite and the food was very good and meals enjoyed
Pleasant and friendly staff, rural surroundings in good location, adequate meals and generally satisfactoty service
The friendly staff
The bed was very comfortable and the room heated quickly. The evening meal was excellent. No heating in bathroom except towel rail which was pretty inadequate
Access to local attractions
Helpful friendly staff who even arranged order-in food when I was back late one night. Not too impressed with the hotel's own evening food meat quality and vegetables a little under cooked. But this is based on one dinner experience only.
Very good value for money in modern, friendly and comfortable hotel Would have liked a wider range of snacks and nibbles at the bar
