A good choice of food and the staf were very helpful
warm friendly relaxing very self contained- pub atsmospher good food excellant staff
Availability of Wifi, very comfortable.
Comfortable for an excellent price Single glazed windows without security features, ground floor window could be easily opened fully by an intruder, should you have the window partially open for ventilation.
The bed was probably the best bed ever. You just didn't want to get out of it! Bar closing at 11 pm. No opportunity for hotel users to have late drinks.
The staff at the feathers were very pleasant and the atmosphere in the pub was fantastic. Cosy log fire on a cold night. Very clean room as well.
helpfullness of the staff postion of our room
The room and the evening meal in the pub N/A
Considering the price per night, I feel the hotel could do with internal updating
Very very noise in the morning (0500 AM) due to delivery of goods.
The hotel is quite lovely with a nice pub restaurant. Great value for money! Our room was filled with music and heavy bass from 7pm on saturday night. (From the disco next door) It did finish at 11ish but if I had wanted to relax in my room before dinner or watch TV I wouldn't have been able to. The room and corridors could do with painting. Breakfast was also a shambles. There were not enough staff and the waiter that was running breakfast was obviously annoyed and wasn't very polite or helpful. I had to ask him for everything and it seemed like we were being an inconvience. They seemed to be short of staff altogether as we had to wait 10 minutes before anyone came to reception (we eventually went to the bar to get someone!)
convenience went to Hitchin Folk club concert which is situated in the Sun Hotel Rooms and beds are small, our room was only set up for single occupancy
Town centre position and the room was on the ground floor as requested Because of the courtyard being used by many drinkers due to good weather and also a private function there was a lot of noise
The generally relaxed atmospere and helpfulness of the staff made for a pleasant stay; the food was very good too. There wasn't anything that I really didn't like.
It was very old and had charm and the bed was comfortable. The corridors needed redecorating. My husband could not stand in the shower (it was too low) the loo roll was hard and there was no courtesy shampoo and conditioner in the room.
Fantastic location in heart of Hitchin. Trip was to co-incide with a visit to The Market Theatre which was just next door. Its the location that makes this so good and it is also fabulous value for money with a really good breakfast on offer. Main lounge and bar area in hotel very attractive and comfortable. Friendly staff. Probably the noisiest room I have ever stayed in. Woken up in the night by people in the courtyard several times. Then at around 4.30am next morning by bins being emptied and deliveries? and then again by cars outside and doors slamming. TV in the room was very old, no remote control and terrible reception. Also the bathroom had a broken shower riser and only one bath towel and one hand towel for two guests, the door was also very stiff. Finally the room was very hot with no air conditioning, forced to open small window which made the noise from outside even more obvious. Also service at the hotel bar was very slow. Having to keep approaching reception for staff. Parking facilities a bit limited for such a large hotel.
Its a brilliant convenient location to Hitchin village The ventilation in the bathroom wasnt good, so the smell in the bathroom and consquently in the room was not nice. But I have stayed in this hotel before and it was very good so I think it was just that room.
A definite olde worlde feeling but with modern conveniences. The location is in the second most important Hertfordshire town for old buildings. We came here to celebrate New Year, there are excellent restaurants near by offering a great choice of styles. It really worked for us listening to the old year being rung out in the town square.
I liked its auhtneticity. I felt I was truly staying at an English country inn. The Sun Hotel has character and personality, including being the home of a folk music club, a treat I enjoyed to the utmost. No.
