The building was absolutely beautiful and there was a great sense of peacefulness. The staff were very helpful but unobtrusive.
Wonderful experience. so Central in the National Park. Parking.Excellent inclusive meal and Spanish hospitality.
The rooms are very spacious and beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are superb. Hotel and surroundings are very quiet and relaxing (1 m thick walls!). Alcantara is a lovely little border town far from the maddening crowds. It offers the splendid nature of the Extremadura and a lot of historical buildings. Beautiful quiet terrace and courtyard. Swimming pool not ready early June, whilst outside temperature > 30 C .Food in restaurant is expensive and quality is variable Hardly any restaurant choice outside hotel, which explains prices...
Friendly staff, excellent restaurant, free minibar, beautiful location, fast Internet access. The staff does not speak English well, it was hard to communicate. Wi-fi does not work in the room. Very noisy hotel, especially in the morning.
everything.Beautiful building and fantastic value
The peace and quiet. Friendliness of staff. The ancient buildings in the towns in the area.
quiet ,impressive hotel
The great and spacious room, with a couch and another good chair so that we could really relax and read. Free internet was also handy!
General appearance and atmosphere of hotel Not enough light to read by in room
Location was quiet and easy to access with ample off road parking. The room was spacious, airy and clean. Room was a little dark and the restraunt menu was quite expensive and not really to our taste. The availability of a menu in English language would have been helpful.
Very peaceful tranquil setting in a very pretty village. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and polite. The choice at breakfast was very good. The evening meal was served by only one woman who though trying her best was overwhelmed by the numbers dining.
Great Hotel, fabulous building in a special village square. Enjoyment added to by the May day festival going on in the village
The hotel building is keeping historical outlook, but the inside is renewed, clean and comfortable. Recommend Half-Pension option, which is reasonable price, food quality is good enough. Maybe some more English speaking staff?
Everything was perfect. Cosy and quiet small town in the center of countryside - ideal place to relax for bored city residents. Pleasant interiors. Nice swimming pool. Nearby there are some walking routes along Extremadura's countryside. Of course, you have to get the car to reach that town. Nice restaurant with amazing local specialties. The food was fresh and delicious. For cheese gourmet I recommend to taste the first item in the menu (all the menu is in Spanish as long as nobody in the restaurant speaks english - ask for "quesa cremosa" - wonderfull local cheese)
It would have been very quite had there not been a funfair going on.This we were told only happens once a year . Its location as it is in the middle of nowhere--- no shops, coffee shops, or anything of interest to visit---- none of the staff spoke one word of English.
The building and its location are fabulous. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff were all very friendly and their spoken english was good. Both dinner and breakfast were enjoyable. We only stayed one night but would very much like to return for longer.
Excellent service and friendly staff. Free Parking. The only restaurant in the hotel and the whole town does not open the door for dinner until 9pm.
Room & balcony N/A
beautiful hotel in peaceful location with good pool and wifi it is a spanish hotel and not on a usual tourist route so a knowledge of spanish would be useful-but the staff are friendly and helpful
Beautifully restyled 15c monastery-very tastefully done and a great place to stay.Despite comments below, we would look forward to staying here again Great to have PC in our room (with mega screen) but staff not pc literate and struggled to get emails working-they were trying hard to be very helpful though! Dinner was designer (ie small portions!!) but tasty- but service amateurish. The sole waitress avoided eye contact with new diners, so we just seated ourselves and waited until she decided it was our turn to receive the verbal menu. Shame as it is a beautiful dining room, spoiled by poor staff training
Arrived very late in pouring rain and were served a simple but nice supper in front of an open fire lit for us, lovely country estate, charming rooms, dogs welcome without charge, the lovely dining room was a nice experience at breakfast, we would certainly like to re- visit. The mattress protectors gave us an uncomfortable night.
Very isolated and quiet rural hotel. It's inside of a farm, in a typical building that has been partly recovered for the hotel. The staff is very genuine and friendly. We've been there in winter and the heating was ok, but I wonder how should it be during the summer without A/C.
Quite liked the rural quality of the place Outside was very untidy. Swimming pool needed cleaning around the outside and never saw the 'skimmers' working. There wasn't a bar and so couldn't get a drink when wanted. Price of food 'menu of the day' was expensive compared to anywhere else I have stayed and the breakfast was a joke, only 1 little piece of toast and a poor cup of coffee.
Everything! The setting is unique, the staff very attentive and charming, the room was very comfortable and thoughtfully furnished and the food fresh, traditional and excellant value,we did not want to leave! The drive up to the hotel is about 6 kilometers of unsurfaced road and you think you are never going to get there but have faith its worth the drive!
We loved the tranquility and the friendly staff also the wonderful menu of food that was produced on the farm. The rooms were nicely situated and cosy and the bathrooms were exceptional. The 6 kilometre track was a worry for drivers of an ordinary car and really only suitable for 4 x 4 vehicles
Only the fact that I had to telephone the hotel to get someone to come to reception, as I had been inside and out shouting for 2 or 3 minutes to no avail. Perhaps a bell or someting may help.
