friendly welcome on arrival and very helpful with any questions asked, very good food and would recommend it for a relaxing break.
The novelty of staying on a barge on a working canal. The friendly and helpful staff. The peace & closness to nature.
Nothing everything was great.
The rooms are warm & quirky. Great view of the river from both from the cabin & the restaurant. Breakfast was good... the bits you cook yourself. The staff were very helpful. Great location for both station & centre. Very pretty walk into the centre.
You can't sit at the bar for a drink, you get shown to a smoking room which is tired, well used, isolated and stinks of smoke! The bar is twice as expensive as town and it shuts early! No tea/coffee facilities in the room!
The Barge is 10 mins walk, with cases, from the Station. The location is quite and the walk into Bruges centre takes you passed Minnewater which is a lovely during the day and beautifully lit at night. If you are keen on all things related to boats you will love watching the activity on the river from the comfort of your bed. The meal we had in the restaurant was excellent and the buffet breakfast was good. The Barge also has wi-fi.
If you are a Brit reading this review take Tea and Coffee making facilities with you...buy some patisserie from the shop on Wijngaardstraat.
The location was excellent, on a quiet canal an easy 10-15min. walk to the city centre. We had a canal side room and were wakened in the morning to the sound of ducks and coots. The food in the Captains Table restuarant was first class. Staff were very helpful and and courteous.
The only lounge available for relaxing/reading in was a smoking area which although in the past we were smokers and have no objection as such to people smoking, the stale smell of smoke was a bit off putting.
Nice cosy rooms, whole hotel felt comfortable and staff friendly and informative.
The small sitting room was not available for one evening and smokers generally allowed to use it making it smelly. Ideally should be non-smoking
being near the canal...close to the train station
Location and the extremely helpful and friendly staff
The only negative was noise from water pipes etc - the pipes run down from upper rooms, we were on the ground floor. It sometimes sounded as if the noise was actually in your room when the water passed through the pipes. If I used the hotel again, I would definately ask for an upper deck room.
The Staff were friendly, the hotel itself was gorgeous, wonderful room and a great location with a great breakfast. We loved our stay there.
The only thing was not being able to make tea and coffee - but that was hardly the end of the world! we're just avid tea drinkers.
ease of parking. nautical ambience. staff service was excellant. menu and standard of food was excellant
noisy plumbing. the fake life jackets are a nuiscence in a confined space
