Hotel Rural Alfajía de Antonio - Capileira - Building
1
9.8 Excellent (775 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Hotel Rural Alfajía de Antonio in Capileira, you'll be 10 minutes by car from Poqueira Gorge. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a very warm welcome and were given plenty of information about the village, helped with our luggage to the room too. We had a good sized superior room on the front with a balcony, our friends had one with walk-in step free shower on the lower floor, the bedroom wasn't as big but the bathroom was equipped for disabled access. The hotel is very well located within the town and there are plenty of places to eat & drink within easy walking distance (the first being right next door), and a small supermarket just around the corner. The hotel doesn't offer a breakfast service but does provide the facilities for you to make your own on the roof with a lounge and terrace with spectacular views. They also point out where you can get breakfast as close as 60m away. Capileira, set over 2000m above sea level, is a beautiful town clinging to a mountainside, all white-washed & natural stone properties with wrought iron balconies decorated with colourful pots of flowering plants - picture perfect. This is a perfect location for walkers to come, and there are several trails to follow from here
Cons: It was unusually hot whilst we were there and the ceiling fans provided some relief but not as much as aircon would, particularly in our friends room which was smaller, on the ground floor and at the side of the property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything just superb! We will come once again for sure!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is perfect! They are an example of how to do things right! - spotlessly clean - good size room, comfortable bed, large shower - fantastic communal area with fridges and plates and coffee: it is possible to have own food, which was extremely helpful for making sandwiches before the hike to Mulhacen. - oh the terrace! Watching the light fade over the valley in the evening! - location is perfect! When you hike down from Poqueira, the hotel terrace is the first thing you see in Capiliera - and that is a hugely joyous moment! - the village is lovely too, of course
Cons: - nothing. I would go back there in a blink.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely place! The hotel is in the heart of Capileira, conveniently located close to a public parking and to the starting point of the hiking trails. The host, Antonio, is very welcoming, he speaks a very goof English and he gave useful information for food, activities, ect. Last but not least, the public living room and the terrace are amazing, with breathtaking views. We would definitely reccomend this place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Luxury feel, roof terrace and pantry for selfcatering. Plus very friendly hosts. Absolutely the best pick for solo hikers. This is the best mix of hotel-clean with hostel-convenience I have ever found at the lowest price in town. I cannot believe this is called 1 star hostal.
Cons: Some fighting birds next to my window woke me up at dawn (but otherwise a superquiet night!)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved this place. Wonderful welcome - great facilities - lots of tips for exploring the area. Perfect base for walking in the Sierra Nevada.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: No breakfast served but coffee available on a pay-as-you-go basis, and there are refrigerators for you to store foods bought at the nearby supermarket. The roof top patio and 'dining room' were very enjoyable! Alberto was excellent with much great advice, especially about hiking trips. He and his wife could not do enough to help or satisfy the guests. They were model hosts!
Cons: We were here in a hot spell, so our room was rather warm even with the fan. But aside from that everything was very good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly people, the balcony was nice, and Capileira is such a great place. Nice large bed. Great attention to detail in making the room clean.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner speaks english very well and is very accommodating. There was no problem communicating with him. The place is homey. The room is spacious, the bed is very comfortable, and the shower is amazing--perfect temperature and pressure! I also loved the shower gel! There is a heater and fan, perfect for all seasons. It is very close to the bus stop and all the good restaurants and bars. And the views from the terrace are breathtaking! I would love to stay again when I come back to Capileira!
Cons: I didn't like that I stayed for just one night. It is a comfortable home in a beautiful, truly beautiful town.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owners could not have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful. They make you feel like a guest in their house rather than one of a hotel. Comfortable bed and good shower. Hotel location within Capileira is perfect...just a few metres from bars and restaurants but nevertheless very quiet. Roof terrace a haven of tranquility with wonderful views. Capileira is a picturesque little mountain village.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We are very glad we chose to stay in Bubion, the small, quiet middle town of the three in this stunning valley. And nowhere could be nicer than Las Terrazas! The owners are amazing people, so kind and supportive. Francisco recommended a short walk for each of our three days, one to Capilerira, one to Pampaneria and one over in Mecina. He even printed out the routes. Wonderful! This is one of the coziest places we have ever been to. We hope to find ourselves here again,, sitting in front of the fire as we plan our next spectacular Alpujarras hike.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location of the finca affords it gorgeous expansive views from a lot of bedrooms; but not the dining room. However the dining room is spacious and airy, with a good selection on various menu options and an excellent buffet breakfast. The swimming pool is on an airy terrace with plenty sun beds, and shade from a covered terrace and umbrellas. Very pretty garden views as well as expansive view of the scenery. Our bedroom was spacious, well appointed, good storage and practical furnishings. The bed was very comfortable. We had a modern shower room. Our little balcony was comfortably furnished.
Cons: The heat and the flies! Unfortunately we struggled to enjoy our room because if we opened windows/doors to get air, flies buzzed in. If we kept the shutters closed, the room was dark. A point of note is that both of the paths to the pool are very steep (the whole complex is built on a hillside so lots of steps and steep paths.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting and really nice staff at the terrace and restaurant
7.5 Good
Pros: Convenient location on South side of Sierra Nevada. Breakfast very good.

Pros: The finca was perfect , garden , pool And outside bar area awesome .. we had a fabulous evening 3 course meal for 12 euros which we really enjoyed . Well worth a visit .staff friendly and attentive Hope to go back soon .
7.0 Good
Pros: The people in the room next door were having sex. The walls are so thin. Every time somebody flushed a toilet it has a shower you can hear it. The pool is lovely. The beds are comfy. The sheets are clean but it is just too noisy. A great location but if I could of found somewhere else with a pool, I wouldn’t stay again.
Cons: Too noisy and the water pipes are very noisy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great. Pool was clean. Staff were super helpful. Hike route was useful and detailed
Cons: The room needed a fan or Aircon - it was super hot
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful view and gardens Good breakfast Nice staff Relaxed atmosphere What's not to like? Good breakfast Wonderful views and gardens relaxed amosphere Efficient and clean Lovely!
Cons: The swimming pool bar! If it needs to be closed for a short period of time....half an hour etc....the bar man should have the common sense to put a notice up to say when he will be back.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Superb breakfast (for Spain!): Cereal, plenty of fresh fruit & yoghurt several varieties of home made bread. Even eggs & bacon to cater for English tastes! All staff very helpful and friendly. Interesting gardens & water features as well as a fair sized pool with plenty of loungers. Magnificent views - as expected in the Alpujarras. Pleasantly surprised to find a fridge in our (superior double) room - not included n the description when we booked
Cons: Car access to the Finca was limited but parking beside the road usually possible, However, this meant a fairly steep uphill ascent to the property. Fine for us, but wheelchair access not easy, nor for anyone with walking difficulties - lots of slopes uphill & several steps
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Top location on the way up to the Sierras.
Cons: Rooms a bit basic, thin walls, some noise from surrounding rooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole Hotel was excellent. Very clean, comfortable and the staff were very helpful. Food was very well presented and very good. Breakfast had a very good range for all. The gardens were very well managed and, the sound of water all around was delightful.
Cons: We booked half board -- breakfast and evening meal. What was NOT made clear at the beginning of our stay was the fact that lunch and evening meals were from the same "Menu-Del-Dia" If there was nothing on the evening meal menu that you liked -- (as in our case) -- there was "other suggestions menu" We chose from this for our evening meal and was charged the difference on final checkout. Not a lot BUT !!!! In the swimming pool, there was only ladders to get out of the water with. OK, if you are able !! Steps would be an advantaged to all. Also (yes I know, extra expense) some solar panels to heat the 'pool water -- lots of clear light there !!!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Montse is really nice. She owns a very cosy hotel, with nice rooms and fantastic views. A great place to spend few days in the middle of the nature
Cons: We enjoyed everything!!!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I loved this hotel. The whole place was full of character. My room was very comfortable with a good bed, a sofa, bedside lockers and lamps and enough power points. There was also an additional room with table, chairs and drawers so plenty of storage space. Clean spacious bathroom and reliable hot water. Our room had its own terrace with a table, chairs, parasol and even a refrigerator. A delightful place to sit in the evening with a cold beer. Worth paying extra for this room! The large attractive gardens were a bonus and provided great views of the valley and mountains. The communal kitchen was excellent and provided a hostel ambience with opportunities to meet other guests. Kitchen well equipped if you want to do your own cooking. Breakfast was excellent with good coffee, juice, very good bread and home made jams. Pleasant helpful staff with maps and information provided.
Cons: Too many dogs at times in the kitchen although attempts were made to segregate them. However, if you like or travel with dogs you will love this place. Parking was limited and tight so don't come with a large vehicle
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was set in the most beautiful town, down from capileira. It was sleepy and quiet and everything you want if you either want to do nothing or go hiking. The garden is beautiful and natural, set across three/four tiers. There are gorgeous areas to relax in when the sun gets too hot and the view never gets boring! It’s very low key but if that’s what you like then it’s perfect. There’s a kitchen and a bbq so you can be quite self sufficient. There is a natural pool from the stream and also a chlorinated one. Montse was a great host and was incredibly welcoming. Bubion is quieter than Capileira but it’s only a short drive away. I felt very happy and calm here - I went for two nights and ended up staying for four.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The scenery, and the area.
Cons: Loved its quirky style.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is indeed a jewel inside Bubion. The owner, Montse, is an excellent host, professional, thoughtful and respectful, that will make your feel comfortable, free and magically welcome in this exceptional part of Spain. Breakfast is delicious, rooms are fresh, rustic, big and clean. Facilities are well located and very practical. The property has a lovely design, where you can find all sort of areas with different atmospheres. It has been a wonderful holiday. I highly recommend Montse’s property and I’m repeat myself with no doubt.

Cons: We had the small room which was a bit musty bit comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I went to the Cortijo for three nights and at the and I spent there a week. I didn't want to leave! The place is beautiful, peaceful and Monse (the owner) is just fantastic! You will feel at home immediately! There is a great atmosphere. One of the best place where I have been!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is absolutely superb, just a short walk for 2 beautiful villages. The couple who own the property are very friendly & although do not speak hardly any English were as helpful as they could be. Breakfast was a little disappointing being just bread/toast & jam/marmalade/tomato/olive oil & cereal, we have been spoilt in the past with some amazing breakfasts & just an offering of ham/salami, cheeses & boiled eggs would have been very much appreciated!
Cons: Breakfast could have been better, just the addition of some ham/salami, cheese & maybe boiled eggs would have been great! Oh, & fresh fruit.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful place with a stunning garden. The communal kitchen was amazing and you could tell alot of love had gone into making it. Breakfast was also fab and I loved their great tea selection.
Cons: The room was a little cold and small but I really enjoyed the attention to detail. A proper duvet would of been great instead of blankets.

Pros: Great hotel in the heart of town. The staff was super friendly and the rooms were very clean.
