Hotel felt homely and welcoming Nothing
very good restaurant, very good breakfast facility and rooms are run down, bed was awful
the comfort of the room and the excelent breakfast
The staff was very helpful, location just off the high street in Buckingham is ideal. Carpark is small but I never failed to find a space. Restaurant is a bit expensive but food was quite good. I stayed for three nights on the top floor in room 221 and came away disappointed. The hallways and room are in need of renovation. The carpet, duvet cover and upholstery on the furniture were worn. The weather during my stay was somewhat warm but the poor ventilation on the top floor meant that the room remained uncomfortable until well after midnight despite a fan placed directly in front of the open window. Complimentary wifi worked most of the time but having to get a new code for each device each day was a nuisance.
Staff friendliness and attitude Grubby bed linen and bedspresd
Fresh milk in jug in fridge in room Noise of fan system when window open
It is very comfortable and relaxing Disappointed that the location was in the centre of the town
Large well equipped room, arm chairs (a big plus), comfortable bed. Very convenient garage, helpful staff, excellent breakfast. None
Reception staff were excellent Noise from people sitting outside after 11pm kept me awake. At breakfast there was nobody to seat me so I chose a table myself at was then told off for sitting in the wrong place.
The staff were outstandingly helpful and friendly. The restaurant for dinner was exceptional, breakfast ok. Parking facilities were very good. Will stay again because of the staff and proximity to Silverstone. The heat in the bedroom was too much for comfort. The staff supplied fans and cooling equipment and offered to move us if necessary. Hotel requires a little TLC
Efficient check in & check out Up graded room a pleasant surprise Poor evening meal Neither the meat or the potatoes were properly cooked I did not complain as i was one of a large party but at £32.50 not good
Convenience for Silverstone. Wedding party not separated from other guests.
The facilties on site Food was a bit expensive
clean, comfortable rooms, good facilities and good restaurant.
One lamp not working. Shower head broken. Not enough pillows. Not enough towels. Not notified that it was a non smoking hotel.
The young man at reception was very cheerful and helpful as was the barman. The leisure centre was very clean and the pool just at the right temperature.
Breakfast was very good, price for accommodation was excellent Shower was very difficult to turn on and off and no hot water around midday on saturday
nice swimmingpool, good food
Things were generally fine, except for payment procedure (see comment below) I had to pay separately for breakfast, and pay at the time of breakfast rather than add it to my total bill. Yet I still had to queue up to pay on check-out despite the fact that I had given a credit card impression on arrival. This system clearly needs improvement.
A friendly, relaxing hotel with helpful staff. Difficult to get out of car park due to ice/snow on a relatively steep approach road
the liesure facilities were excellent and are free to all hotel guests, breakfast was good value for money and is of buffet type
Nicely presented bedrooms
Room clean and good value Breakfast not good - only instant coffee, no choice and quality low Really a big pub with rooms - and pub food
Good room The rest of the hotel was a bit run down
A good spot in the centre of Buckingham and easy to find. Nice old hotel. Good-sized, clean room with extras - ironing board/iron, hairdryer. Bit dodgy getting to the 2nd floor up the staircase! Would have liked fresh coffee and tea (not sachets) and more fresh fruit provided at breakfast.
Reasonably priced facilities Traffic noise
Very friendly hotel, good value for money.
The staff were very helpful There was a musty smell in the corridors and rooms
Room was nice staff were friendly, unfortunatley I only checked into my room and had a quick breakfast and left so no time to relax and enjoy!
A fabulous modern hotel, great facilities, exceptionally clean, breakfast served until 11am which was very tasty and well presented and a welcoming late midday checkout too!. Extremely polite chap on reception.Ideal location for shopping and theatre. Would highly recommend a weekend break at this hotel...
Good hotel , rooms etc and we did get a small £41 refund due to the problems encountered below. Hotel had made no provision for hotel services for the Ulster Rugby guests who were staying there. (Most of the guests). On Sunday 10th, contrary to the e-mails we had received in February, all of the bar and restaurant facilities had been let out to Northampton corporate clients (not hotel Guests) and no provision made for hotel guests. Many of us had to go to the adjacent asda store to obtain beer and we were obliged to sit out on the grass with this before the Northampton v Ulster match!!
Everything, from helpfull staff to decoration None
Very comfortable bed which meant a good nights sleep! Breakfast could have been better. There were only two pieces of bread left and no plates to put it on after it had been toasted. We had to ask twice for side plates for our table and the salt cellar didnt work.
Very clean, Staff friendly and professional, spacious. Close to football ground. Restaurant good. Not really bad, but taps in bath difficult to operate, noise from corridor at night.
the rooms had luxury fittings. the bed was very comfortable including the pillows. the bathroom was well stocked and clean. the hotel bar shut at 11.30pm. It was disappointing when we arrived back from a party and was unable continue catching up with friends
The location There was no hot water in the room due to problems with a boiler. No one advised us of this until we complained even though they were aware of the problems.
I was attending the football match at MK Dons Staduim. No
Room very clean and tidy. bathroom very clean. Some noise from other rooms, not sure if enough sound insulation
The cleanliness of room and bathroom. The restaurant was really nice as well. 2:30pm check in. Would be better if it could be a bit earlier.
In city centre near city shopping Non
Excellent location, central. Very good english buffet breakfast!!!
it's calm the coffee maker in the room the smell of the towells
The hotel rooms are quiet - you cannot hear next door - breakfast was great too. nothing
The restaurant tried to charge me £20 for two orders of tea and toast so when purchasing small amounts of food, make sure to tell the till operator you are not buying the standard ten pound breakfast. Also, parking costs £1.50 per day.
Quiet room with good views of a beautiful sunset. We were unable to have a light continental breakfast only offered Full English at £10 pp which we thought excesive for what we wanted.
Room was very good, as expected, minor issue with air con sorted out easily and quickly (10 mins) Staff unobtrusive but always available and helpful. Breakfast layout seemed a little confusing (1st stay at this hotel)
staff were very welcoming, very near to the bars.
Close to restaurants Car parking on other side of the street
Clean comfortable rooms. The staff were helpful, breakfast buffet very good. Parking was easy. Booked two deluxe rooms , one had a balcony the other did not , I felt that they should have been the same.
Clean, Friendly staff. How water not working in 1st room but given another room with no hassle.
the staff, esp duty manager were very helpful. very impressed with their customer service. leisure facilities need updating
It was all good I had a very nice time thank you None
Clean, friendly staff, good area for shopping. Prices in the bar, like most hotels it stops you staying at hotel for drinks.
Pleasant staff....excellent and extremely helpful duty manager NICK...really makes u feel comfortable when staff are child friendly No
We were there for the concert at the National Bowl, the hotel was well placed for walking, there were also nice bars and restaurants nearby and also a shopping centre. The breakfast was very nice too.. The hotel was great and the staff were very friendly, nothing we didnt like
The hotel was ideally located for the Hub only a short walk and its surrounding facilities.
Free swimming pool, free parking, very close to a shopping centre, quiet in the night. Overpriced, internet 15 GBP for 24 hours (and it was broken in my room), parking was full all the time.
Very helpful and friendly staff Coffee needs to improve. It would be nice to have espresso coffee. Rest of breakfast was excellent
Very good value. Would not recommend Harvester Pub which is adjacent to the Holiday Inn. Very poor meal. Insufficient lighting in room.
Clean and friendly Nonthing
Well placed for the purpose of my visit, and an early breakfast which fitted in well with my timetable
Parking Directions were not great
customer service at @ reception
Very clean hotel and room n/a
I have stayed at this hotel many times as it is near to my parents.I think the staff are second to none, they are helpful, polite, and pleasant. I like the design and layout of the hotel it is very comfortable. I like the nearnes to Willen Lake. Nothing I did not like.
Efficient staff, good ground floor lounge and bar/eating areas, better than expected continental breakfast. Not enough tea/coffee/sugar provided in the room, also one of the milk cartons was 'off'.
Proximity to work locations
A very pleasant hotel, with attractive bar and communal areas. Would have beeen nice if they had prepared the sofa bed for the kids, but that's just being picky.
size and cleanliness of room and plenty and good choice of breakfast
Helpfull and curteous staff. Free wifi and convenient location near a5 Some part of the hotel while clean and functional seemed a little tired and in need of updating, especially after coming through a modern well designed reception area. Wish net curtains had been fitted to downstairs rooms.
staff were amenable to my required requests - dinner before 7pm on sat night as I had 2 young children who needed feeding early. Very freindly staff - thank you dinner late and breakfast at weekend late with only room service option for early starts which was only continental and basic at that.
The place was clean, the reception staff were friendly and the location was quiet The bar shuts at 11pm irrespective of whether there are reasonable numbers of guests in the bar
i would like to have a copy of my bill,as i did not receive one
The location for business meeting The gym facilities were rather sparse, as was the room service menu.
The value for money and access to a restaurant - altough not used on this occassion. Staff were excellent. Finding 3 black hairs in the bed - rather off putting. This is not a complaint - just a heads up re need to be careful re 'stray hairs'.Tiredness of the decor, stains/ marks on walls. Would recommend with warning re decor, so expectations are realistic. Suspect/ hope bed was a one off issue.
Clean room Tv reception extremely bad in room. Floorboards need attention - a guest staying in the room above was walking around at 1.30am, 4.00am & 5.15am every time woke me because floorboards were creeking so much.
A bit dated
The hotel was quiet, clean and had some good facilities such as a swimming pool. Breakfast was included. We would stay here again. There were really no bad points about our stay.
Reception, breakfast quick check in and out Rooms are not so modern anymore hard to find at night, no signs on the road !
really helpful staff, great location, everything we were looking for in a short break pillows not very good and bar prices a little high
The hotel was very close to the city centre They did not have a note of our reservation but luckily they had rooms available otherwise we would have been stuck!! The bed was very uncomfortbale - there weren't any pillows, just cushions. The shower was not very clean (mould around the edges) but the rest of the room was very clean and well presented
great price, clean and comfortable.room service food was lovely. didnt have the breakfast as thought £12 was a bit too much
Rooms/breakfast was an excellent deal drinks very expensive. asked for coke, lemonade and small water and was charged £8.35. When I queried this it was reduced to £7.35 - still high! Evening meal also expensive for quality of food. Confusion over payment - when we arrived I was told I had paid on booking. When I checked out was told i had not paid and was charged
pool + price
Good shopping location One of our rooms was meant to be 2 single beds. All it was was the double bed with a 'put you up' bed beside it. No duvet was left for the spare bed and my daughter made do with a sheet and blanket. The blanket cupboard was found to contain 14 large empty Cider cans - the staff did attend to remove them but it indicates poor cleaning procedure. Used sticking plaster found stuck to the wall in the swimming pool. In summary - some work needs to be done on the detailed cleaning of the establishment.
We enjoyed our stay in the hotelm the breakfast was very good.
Clean, particularly bathrooms Staff excellent Terrible pillows made a bad nights sleep. Cheap stuffing meant your head rolled off and the square shape, whilst looking 'cool' meant that your head fell off the edge when turning over. Towels too small.
very comfortable the staff were all very uninterseted
Very helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Good fitness facilities. Lovely breakfast. Very convenient for theatre and shops. Car park very safe and secure. Generous check out time and breakfast served until 12
Friendly staff, nice environment. Location is a bit "out of the way"
Location Lack of air conditioning in the room.
not much, maybe decent TV set in the room - room shower was not working the first day, -one of the worst value for money dinner (GBP 15-20) I have ever seen (fried prawns I ordered were a few pieces of some unidentifiable oily discusting matter as a starter), no reaction on the complaint made
As with most business allowances my stay was controlled by a budget and your hotel just fell within my company allowance but overall the politeness of all of the staff in particular the receptionist upon checking out. The cellar cooler was broken therefore the drinks were warm. For below answer there were no guest reviews on this hotel at the time of booking.
Location was good for shopping and motorway staff not very welcoming or reactive to a minor complaint
the free parkjing it had a very old and worn out look
Friendliness of the staff. I felt the room could have been a bit "tidier" for a 4 star hotel.
Very polite staff and made everything as easy as posible for us as we were doing the milton keynes triathlon and wanted to bring all of our eqipment to the room, so provided us with a ground floor.
the security was bad . the window was broken into and my bag stolen .. DONT accept a room on the ground floor. The food was expensive and was the worst I had ever eaten .a small piece of dry chicken and some dry chips . small choc cake and tiny scoop of ice cream .. £19 ...
Everything was very nice, clean tidy good staff attitude would certainly stay again, we did stay in the Ramada Encore on the way out (city centre) no comparison Ramada was very noisy rooms very small, if you want a quite pleasant stay & don't mind driving or getting a taxi to the city centre 5 mins away this is the one to stay at. No complaints
Nice comfortable room. Not particularly well sign posted and postcode in satnav took to a random farm nearby; we ordered a taxi to take uus to a friend's wedding, when we arrived at reception a few minutes before it was due we asked whether it had arrived, we were told that it hadn't, 10+ minnutes later someone told us that our taxi had been waiting outside for a while. We were almost late for the wedding. Not knowing the hotel it would have been really helpful if someone could have told us where to wait.
The room and bed, in particular, was very comfortable and the breakfast was also very good. The cost was high and not enough clothes hangers and only 3 pillows when 4 was needed.
Spa facilities were excellent. Location was great for shopping at Bicester Village and visiting Blenheim Palace. Sports bar was dirty. Kept awake on first night due to a loud function which went into the small hours of the morning. Breakfast was disappointing. More like a travel inn than a 4 star hotel but at a vastly inflated price!
Stayed with girlfriends for a shopping weekend, really nice hotel, very comfortable, good food and courteous, helpful staff. Would definitely stay again
The size of the room The bed in the luxury room was dirty and put a bad start to what was our anniversay! Coiuld not believe how expensice the G&Ts were!!!!
The hotel is set in fantastic grounds, the rooms are claen and very well presented and staff are really help full.the best hotel we have ever stayed in.
The bed was comfortable although I felt there should be 4 pillows for a superking .. the cooked breakfast was very tasty.. going outside between the hotel facilities and the bedroom .. not convenient and cold and damp as it was raining .. it was very inconvenient to have no mobile phone connection (Orange) unless I went out into the carpark and stood in the rain.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful Room had ample space and the bed was really comfortable. The Health Spa facilities were great. Arrived around 3pm, feeling rather hungry. We were told that we could get baguettes, paninis or a sandwich in the Sports Bar but all that was left was a couple of sandwiches. Unusually long wait for Breakfast but worth it when it arrived.
Room and facilities excellent massage wonderful pool and jacuzzi wonderful Reception staff very helpful Restaurant staff need to clear tables of dirty plates to allow guests to continue their meal
Wonderful facilities, great room, fantastic breakfast.
the location the staff forgot to give me the promised wake up call and I nearly missed my meeting
The room was comfortable and well priced. There was confusion over the billing of another room's meals to my account which took some time to sort out.
The room was well furnished and the views were nice
Nice place with park. Easy and close parking. Efficient reception personnel. Shower system. So typically British...
THE most comfortable bed n/a
Not much The price of drinks was outrageous ! The receptionist was unsmiling and curt. The duvets were far too hot.
The staff were very helpful and friendly but we felt disorganised. As above, disorganised, did not pay attention to detail with regard to the wedding function we were attending, They forgot to serve canapes with the pre wedding breakfast drink, the food was bland, and service disorganised.
The building and surroundings are very pretty from outside. The corridor carpets leading to my room were very shabby and in need of replacement, these did not give a very good first impression at all. The room however was better than expected with a flat screen tv, a lovely big comfy bed and an impressive bathroom. The room was very cold and i found it difficult to sleep during the night as a result of this. No radiators but air con unit may have been able to give out heat but we could not figure out how to get warm air from it or if it was possible?
The staff were efficient, the room was excellent, I have paid a lot more and had worse facilities The food on the room service menu was expensive
The price of the food in the hotel is extortionate. i had a small bowl of salad in the bar on my first nights stay. £15. On my second night, i was told i was not allowed to eat in the bar and that i had to eat in the restaurant. i had the same small bowl of salad and was charged £25! Outrageous
safe parking , quiet room and leisure facilities leisure facilities opened 7am an earlier opening would facilitiate morning exercise.
I thought the room was ok. I thought the food was excellent. The location wonderfull. I would have liked a the terrestrial channels on the TV if I had stayed longer.
Very comfortable, as the hotel is mainly set up to host conferences and large groups, it is slightly impersonal for single travellers / couples
My room was cold and I had a cold shower in the morning. I did complain to reception - but was not compensated in any way. I did however really like the venue.
good breakfast and friendly waiting staff hot tap did not work for bath. reported to reception but was not attended to during 3 night stay
Friendly efficient staff, clean good sized rooms, good bathrooms Breakfast disappointing - limited fruit/cereals/light breakfast options
Was suprised thought it was a country hotel turned out to be a modern conference center attached to an old building See above - fine for a conference but probably not a selection for a hotel stay - also long long walk through many corridors to room - if you have more than hand luggage you don't want to take it in
I liked the location of the hotel and the reception staff were very helpful and booked meals outside the hotel for us. The spa facilities were a joke the pool tempature was tepid/cold the jacuzzi was not working and the the seperation of the mens lockers from the spa was not user frendly. The arrangements for breakfast were the lowest standard I have experienced ant any other Hayley hotel and I have stayed at Swindon eastwood and the Palace Manchester, with lack of choice and buffet not being topped up proberly.
lovely countryside nice hotel and staff a little too big
The room and the the choice of breakfast was excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Waddesdon Manor and gardens are close by and well worth a visit
Location, style and furnishings, size of room Booking process, hotel couldn't handle booking so had to make this via Active website. Although spoke to hotel and agreed which room would be allocated, this was not known on arrival - advised had been allocated a) twin (double agreed) b) not in main house (agreed would be in main house) c) room 5 (room 11 allocated). In the end allocated room agreed on phone but like drawing teeth. Pressurised to book dinner on arrival (at noon) without any invitation to view menu - we didn't in the end eat there. Said on 2 occasions on arrival that we would leave bag as we were 'visiting the House (ie Waddesdon Manor) and would therefore only need to have access to room after that. On accessing room and reading hotel details, found out that guests received free entry to the ground of the Manor, which would have saved us 10 pounds, but we weren't advised of this. Breakfast next day. Sat and waited for table to be dressed. No butter or preserves, had to get left over butter from next table. Preserves never arrived. Gave order to disinterested young girl. My order - scrambled eggs with bacon. Arrived - no bacon. Had to ask much older lady who delivered food for this. Then asked for mustard which not provided. When older lady delivered comment was 'well anything else' in a 'don't bother me again' attitude - didn't like to ask for preserves!! Orange juice had run out had to ask for this. Unshaven (and this not from me but my partner) lad also serving very offhand. Overall the hotel is lovely - reason I booked it was that I had arranged a corpoate event there 2 years ago for international racing people lunch and private view of Waddesdon Manor, so wanted to show this and the Manor to my partner, just a shame it was let down not by overall experience but a combination of little annoyances - eg bedside light not working. Why not have a checklist of setting a table and checking a room and tick each item off to ensure everything as it should be. Would recommend to others and stay again if in the area but such a shame to be let down. (Also noted that others at breakfast were asking for eg a glass, salt & pepper on other tables).
The hotel is very clean and tidy and the staff were polite and friendly, the bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was excellent with a choice of continental, cooked, or for a small supplement you could have kippers or smoked salmon. None
Staff were helpful but not intrusive. Interior comfortable and gardens beautifully laid out.
Wonderful friendliness and helpfulness from all of the staff.
Just around the corner from Waddesdon Manor, which has fantastic art and building, well worth visiting. Hotel is a lovely period building that used to be part of Waddesdon estate, well maintained. Lovely garden, sit and have drinks. Nice room and bathroom. Staff foreign and somewhat clueless but nice people. Restaurant has good food but looks like pub seating. Internet did not work.
Attentive and friendly staff, delicious breakfast, charming room, good size bathroom, plenty of car parking and a nice garden/terrace to the rear of the hotel - highly recommended. It's not a criticism but would recommend a slightly larger bar area/lounge for pre-meal drinks and nightcaps!
Fantastic location for Waddesdon estate, hotel very clean and historic building. We had a room at the back which was great. Had a good welcome at the village church. First course of evening meal was not up to scratch. The staff were very helpful, friendly and made the stay enjoyable, but there seems to be a lack of overall management in the hotel as it lacked a bit of organisation.
The room was a delight. Comfortable bed, crisp white bedlinen, well aired and nice view. Tastefully furnished and spacious. The window opened, always a good point for me and my Husband. Very good evening meal. Excellent choice of wines. Friendly and helpful staff. For a fried breakfast the bacon was thick and undercooked, the egg was lifeless and the tomatoes were dull and listless. The room we were in was near the kitchen fans. I would ask for a room in another part of the Hotel next time.
Courteous staff, comfortable and welcoming bar, breakfast excellent. Room very basic.
Good sized room and bathroom. Decor ok. Clean. Quality of breakfast was very poor. Sausages where cheap and nasty. Bacon was very tough as had been out for a while. only eggs where scrambled and were bland and tasteless. No soap in dispenser in shower.
Not a lot !! Room wash shabby and staff were unhelpful. It,s a drinking pub with a few rooms.Would stay further out in future rather than at this place.
The staff were friendly, the main lounge and dining room was good and the overall atmosphere too was good. The room 24 where we stayed was appalling...the bathroom toilet barely flushed, the entire room was too small for two persons to get ready for a wedding as we had to, the door of the bathroom did not close as it was warped about 5in out of the vertical, and the room was in need of an entire overall. The musky smell as u entered the building was offputting. The menu from previous years was excellent...but the Steak and Ale Pie was advertised with peas....but we got lettuce instead, which does not got with Steak and Ale Pie
good parking facilities, bar and food
Room was bright, warm and clean At night the heating went off and because of type of weather that weekend we were bloody freezing!! And the wardobe smelt odd so we never hung our clothes up!!! And we missed breakfast, our own fault,BUT I think they could of subtracted that from our final bill!!!!
Excellent comfort. The jacuzzi bath and bed were a real luxury. Evening carvery very nice. Breakfast buffet a bit scant. Only scrambled egg on offer and some of the other food had been standing a while. No internet access at all and staff very unhelpful when questioned.
convenience for location visiting goods sized room v comfortable buffet breakfast poor
Helpfulness of staff
Good beer in bar Location Car parking Bed quilt samll and thin Shower not powerful Generally bit run down and grubby Breakfast choice limited and poor quality cooking and ingredients
