Loved the breakfast - continental and cooked with local produce served at a communal table. Affable owner justifiably proud of his property. Adults only an additional attraction.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect! The house & gardens are just beautiful. Location is great, it is only a 5 minute walk to restaurants & cafes.
6.7 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed and the delicious breakfast
Cons: Upon arrival we received a lecture from the owner about how we should not have used booking.com to book our stay. Whilst very knowledgeable the owner can be very condescending and likes to interject into conversations that the guests are having at the breakfast table. It would have been nice to have a chat with the other guests without him hanging around the table for the greater part of our breakfast. The most disappointing part of our stay came to the payment. We paid cash upon departure however a couple of days later I noticed that $198.80 was on hold to The Old Nunnery. I sent an email and Ian apologised for the error and was fixing it as we speak. I thought he would have cancelled that transaction somehow but unfortunately the next day the money was withdrawn from my account.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent and the B&B has a lot of charm. The room and bathroom were very large and comfortably furnished. The breakfast was first rate and the hosts very friendly.
Cons: A step down from the lounge room is a hazard. The heating system is effective but was set a little too low for our comfort/

Pros: Great location...10 minutes walk from the village center. Great food...a full brekkie and lively conversation. Great bed and a huge bathroom. It really was bigger than our own at home.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts were excellent. Ian & Margaret were very welcoming. Ian has a fantastic knowledge of the Highlands area - local history, the best golf courses to play at, local restaurants etc. Our room was very nice with a very comfortable King sized bed. Breakfast was a selection of cereal & a full English breakfast, with much of the produce sourced locally & organic. The poached eggs especially were amazing, Ian!! Margaret bakes delicious fruit muffins to have at breakfast. We will happily return there, as often as possible! The Old Nunnery is definitely a lovely place for a short break.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Place has just been renovated and very tastefully, it was a cold day but the place was warm with big log fire and gas heating throughout, good heating in bedrooms, nice showers and bathrooms. Friendly owners John and his wife, very chatty and informative. Nice backyard and grounds for having drinks outside and games room snooker and table tennis There was only one other family there, not sure how it would cater for mostly booked out ...say weekends, suspect a bit noisy
Cons: Continental breakfast was ordinary, just toast and cerials, do expect a little more these days , say hot boiled eggs for example, no hot water jug to top up coffee/tea, and We asked prior to arriving to they facilitate for someone with a dairy allergy, and the reply was..bring your own, which was poor. Dining room not open, but went down to local just done up pub for excellent dinner.

7.5 Good

Exeter Farm Stay - Sutton Forest - Bedroom
6
10.0 Excellent (13 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Set on a 140 acre picturesque, cattle grazing property, just outside the village of Exeter in the heart of the NSW Southern Highlands, this elegantly presented farmhouse provides guests with a peaceful country getaway just 1.5 hours from Sydney and Canberra. Your 2 bedrooms can accommodate 2 couples or a family with up to 2 children. Your self-contained accommodation has its own entrance and undercover parking. The apartment comprises living room with wood fire, kitchenette with microwave, breakfast/dining room, 2 bedrooms - queen bed in one and either a king or twin in the other - and a large bathroom, with heated floor, which is shared by you and your friends/family. We invite you to enjoy any part of the property, from the landscaped gardens to exploring all of our 140 acres. Within our property we have around 60 acres of native bush and various walks that you can take depending on how energetic you are feeling. A highlight is our small sunset cabin, hidden away in a secluded valley, where you can enjoy a picnic breakfast, afternoon tea or a sundowner drink and nibbles. It's a great place to relax and commune with nature. This is a working farm focussed on breeding Dexter cattle, a small and friendly breed. In spring and summer we typically have 25-30 cute calves running around. We also have around 15 Suffolk sheep and an alpaca named Angelique. Native animals abound - kangaroos, wombats and a myriad of birds. You may even spot an echidna up on the hill.

Pros: Friendly atmosphere and awesome view
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here for a weekend to get away from the city and I couldn't imagine a better place to go. The unit was decorated beautifully, the beds were extremely comfortable and the property was a joy to explore! I would like to thank Jill for all the information she provided in the lead-up and on the excellent service she provided during our stay - Just the right blend of available if we needed anything but not an overwhelming presence. I would stay here again at the drop of a hat.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful location. Beautifully presented.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I slept for more than 7 hours on the first night we were there. 4 hours is usually all I'll get in one go, so that was brilliant. Crisp cotton sheets, just-right doona and pillows - what more can I say?

The views from the rooms were wonderful - watching sun and shadows over the hills was relaxing. The great bonus was the hidden cabin. It was a such a great thing to have a walk across the farm with an enticing destination. A wonderful place to sit with a cuppa watching wallabies and birds at sunset.

Pros: The scenery was amazing, the animals were cute and fun but the hosts, Ray and Jill were most accommodating and friendly especially for our ten year old child. We'll be back for sure!

Pros: Large fires. Loved dinner. Lovely welcome. Ambience of property (though it was gale force outside and we didn't get to explore much).

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property amazing history fabulous service excellent accommodation will definitely be back
Cons: Cups and saucers with small plates not just mugs in the rooms
5.0 Okay
Pros: We booked on the reputation of the Peppers franchise. Our room was disappointing and comparable to a motel room. Bathroom had no space to put anything nor hang anything. Not even a hook to hang a robe. Customary tea and coffee and not even a package biscuit to go with. The lounge had no magazine, papers etc and when I asked reception I was informed that “ there was one yesterday but someone must have nicked it”. For a Manor house we found it lacked ambience. The grounds were neglected, with dead shrubs and a proliferation of weeds. While there is a drought it does not need water to clean up the entrance, pick up branches, and generally tidy up as any good gardener knows. It makes all the difference. We have a garden in the Blue Mountains, and in winter we spend time on garden keeping. Ie cleaning up leaves, picking up branches and twigs blown off by the strong winds. All together a disappointing couple of days.
Cons: See above.. make some improvements in the bathroom of room 51 eg hooks to hang a towel or robes. Add some biscuits to the tea and coffee available in the room. Clean up the garden entrance to reception which is not an expensive exercise. Include at least a Continental breakfast in the tariff. We paid $372 for two nights. With breakfast adding $28 or$23 if we booked the night before. Outrageous charge!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Just about everything
Cons: Parking is a bit awkward,$5.00 fee for room service or tray service not really in town meals are a bit on the expensive side as the nearest shops are some distance away
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is loaded with old world charm, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The overall feeling is one of understated elegance, and the open fireplaces were beautiful and added to the comfort, much needed for a winter escape. We were upgraded to a room in the garden wing with a king size bed. it was very clean and the heater worked fantastically and made it very cosy. It was quiet too. The location of the hotel is very tranquil and serene, although not within walking distance to any amenities.
Cons: We didn't breakfast included, which was a shame, and therefore it made it a little pricey. However, we did order from the grazing menu one evening and the food was mostly good, except one of our party had the burger and it was undercooked. I recommend if you want prime position in front of one of the fireplaces, you jump in quickly and they are very popular.
