The hotel is new and very clean and has all the necessary facilities for a pleasant stay. There was no family room and so I had to take two rooms with a connecting door for a family of four.
Easy access to the airport... Price.
Friendly staff, clean room, just next to terminal building (2 min walk), quick check-in and check-out.
easy for airport long black head hair in bath
Proximity to airport was very useful and check out as well as car collection service were both good The carpet in room and corridor were not as clean as they could have been. Check-in was very slow!
The location, a short walk from the airport terminal. Very convenient. The room, the quiet. The staff was very helpful. The swimming pool closing at 07.30 PM. also, the hotel was a bit pricey.
I had only one night at the Radisson Blu but it was great. Dinner at the Italian restaurant was memorable - unusual, creative dishes. My room was, for me, very spacious and luxurious. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and had a wonderful assortment including fresh fruit salad, which is a rarity indeed. I had time to use the heated swimming pool.and enjoyed it very much. Then a quick but tasty lunch in the bar before departure. All the staff were excellent - friendly and helpful. I especially appreciated a late check out as well as a concierge facility that allowed me to leave a large suitcase both at no additional charge. I didn't mind paying for the excellent facilities and service. Well worth it.
Reasonably sized room. Comfortable bed. Clean with one noteable exception. Airport accessible via covered walkway - 2 or 3 minutes at most. Broken glass on bathroom floor. Food and drinks a little pricey. Compulsory service charge for waiter service in main bar area.
the location as it serves the airport very well. The rooms are comfortable and the staff very helpful. The cost of drinks and meals. I with many others leave the hotel and eat and socialise in the airport. If the food and drink bill was less then people would be more likely to stay and eat on the premises. I even know people who avoid the hotel because of the cost
The room was great. Mattress was super comfortable. Location was also great as we were staying because of a layover. Breakfast buffet was also the best I have ever had. Food prices at restaurant were a little pricey for what was offered. Room smelled a little of smoke. Suggestion: perhaps offer complimentary water bottles in rooms?
The hotel's position close to the airport terminal. The comfortable room. One of the eating places ('Paella' or the like) was advertised in the room and in the lifts, but was closed "for the season".
Spacious room and comfortable bed. Walking distance from the airport.
The hotel is very near to Stansted airport. There is a hotel shuttle at the airport. After 13 hours of long flight and reached UK at 8pm, it is very convenient to stay at the nearest hotel as it is only 5 minutes from the airport with comfortable and clean room.
nice facilities, room on good condition, staff are very helpful there should be wireless connection available inside the room, so that we dont't have to come down at the lobby for longer period (very cold)
bar staff - really caring and giving a chocolate bar to our baby girl whihc was a nice gesture the food served in thehotel restaurant - the dinner - the food was cold and a siz e of portion misearble
Surprised that they did not offer early morning breakfast pack in the room especailly as they are at an airport. Cheaper hotels do. Also what happened to the travel bag hooks at reception?
Pretty good value for the price, the hotel is very clean and quiet, the location for connecting flights is perfect, the transfer to the airport is well-organized. The price for the transfer was quite high
Bed comfortable Room far too warm when i arrived and in order to cool down the airconditioning had to be left on all night and it was noisy therefore could not sleep.
It was convenient The check-in clerk was surly and offhand, and was ignorant. She also vaguely pointed in the wrong direction for the elevator/lift. A later desk clerk who entered my Priority Club number was very helpful.
everything I would like somebody to speak other languages. spanish for exemple
relative close location to STN n.a.
The room was great, very confortable and tidy. Breakfast could've had more variety.
grounds, bed hoover left in hallway all day and night from cleaner. spider web in the shower ceiling and in the hallways
Every member of staff we met greeted us with a smile! The manor house was warm and welcoming, nice relaxed atmosphere in Oakes grill restaurant, and good food. The bathroom was poor for a 'prestige' manor house room. In need of refurbishment, and get rid of the plastic curtain that stuck to you in the narrow bath/shower - far from luxury.
Very good, friendly staff, great food, if you upgrade make sure you go the whole way and go 4 poster bed suite!
The golf course was great and the staff was very nice to a fault.
Afternoon tea in the library was a sheer delight. Ambience was that of the English country house this once was; nothing was fake, from the decor to the friendly welcome of the staff. Breakfast was expensive but no more so than many lesser hotels we have stayed in. There were not any bad points. I was born to lead the five star lifestyle - in my dreams, but just for for a little while I was there
The location was fabulous, food extremely good, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Not only an excellent hotel for a leisure break but also ideal for business meetings / conferences.
The grounds surrounding the hotel were lovely. The hotel was very cold. ladies were wearing partners jackets to keep warm over their party dresses. The bar staff were not very helpful. We had to wait over 20 minutes for someone to come and take our order for drinks.
The setting. The good size of my room. The excellent attitude of reception staff. The pool which was of a wonderfully clean and kempt standard. There wwere no hot drink facilities in my room! unbelievable for an allegedly five star and pricey hotel.
Gorgeous surroundings, friendly staff only stayed for one night but was a lovely relaxing break from the real world! Window slightly broken, cold air coming in
Express check in was easy. Room was very clean, loved the extra pillows and helpful sleeping tips. Perfect for short stay. Also loved the shampoo installed in bathroom so I didn't have to unpack my stuff! Bathroom was a little like a hospital but that's also to say it was very clean, not really a problem. Also dialed down to reception and didn't get an answer, at 1am, but note says 24 hour reception.
we weren't told anything about breakfast times so their for missed out the following morning. The room was booked a superior double room but could see what made it this, bed was a bit uncomfortably but ok. The bath room was very modern with one small down side the size of the sink. it was barrly deep enough to have a proper wash.,
Qietness Rooms need modernising
Breakfast was very good and staff friendly. standard room small. There were 2 weddings on the day and night we stayed so was unable to access the bars or eat there.
Clean and comfortable There was an issue with the hot water but this was dealt with very quickly by maintenance. Bathroom was a touch out of date.
Great personality Rooms reminded me of a 'Hall of Residence' but were clean & functional. The hotel bar was in complete darkness and locked up at 11pm
The hotel is lovely Staff were not so good. We left a phone in the bar and one of our associates handed it to the barman when we eventually got it back the sim card and battery was missing, the hotel manager would not call the staff in question that had the phone to come back to the hotel so we called the police. Another lady in our group her handbag went missing again the police were called half an hour later the bag turned up by a member of staff. When the tables were being cleared a camera went missing, that never turned up, again reported to the police.
The location and grounds were superb. Having breakfast overlooking the pond was very pleasant. Staff very friendly. There were 2 bars but both were being used by 2 different wedding parties. No opportunity for drink in the bar.Had to walk across courtyard to rooms from reception- not good in sub zero temperatures.
The architecture and beautiful grounds No
Facilities, good breakfast Room was very small (single room). Lack of TV channels (5 only).
The food in the bar area was excellent as was the inclusive breakfast. The grounds of the hotel are mahnificent The rooms are fairly small, but this does not detract from the experience
We only stayed for one night. Left early in the morning! The bed was ok!
The courteous, efficient, competent staff-- "service- oriented," how refreshing!! Very professional staff. Not a thing! Look forward to my next visit. Best place to stay for London Stansted!
The staff was amazing! Very accomidating to our every need!
The gym, the bar
Good bed and linnen was probably the best feature of the hotel. The hotel is in need of deep renovation. Especially the bathroom was in a bad condition and only 2 star.
very comfortable bed
Rooms - too small Breakfast - too expensive for the quality
Very friendly staff. Comfortable and clean room. Good price. Convenient for Stansted Airport.
no Sky Sports in room, infrequent transfers
Near the Airport Had to pay for the shuttle bus to and from the airport, should be free service. Rooms not as nice as other Hilton hotels.
Checked in 2a.m. left 6a.m Very disappointed to get a room with two twin beds. To late in the night to argue. Price for the room was very hig versus accomidation.
New hotel - so room was clean, equipment was modern and worked well. New hotel - no adequate payment facilities, lift broke down (we were on the fourth floor), not all of the menu was available.
Pleasant room Food was bland and lacking in quality and imgination - and is real issue in choosing whether to use this hotel again
The staff were helpful, and the room was very clean and well-equipped. It was convenient for my business meeting. Lack of sufficient on-site parking. Having to pay extra for Wi-Fi.
Nice clean new hotel Didn't like disabled bathroom - no bath! Also, lighting in bedroom was awful - does anyone try putting make-up on when designing these things?
Very helpful female cleaning operative Paying for parking for nights there.Hotel allowing escort ladies into premises
Engaged staff. Very little on-site parking.
Comfortable room. Lack of on-site parking, you have to use the public car park across the road.
Comfortable clean rooms
No on parking facilities
Good value, well positioned for getting around. Comfy beds, great shower.
The bed was extremely comfortable and the extensive breakfast was included in the booking 3pm seems quite late to check in, but we were able to check in an hour earlier
Good hotel, nice rooms, Breakfast was disappointing. Wifi doesnt exist in rooms, wired internet is £7 an hour what a complete rip off
Very polite staff. Late checkout as an easy option. Problem with the original room allocation (mattress was in need of repair) which was resolved very quickly and we were allocated a new room. No fridge in the room. Aircon was a little noisy. Allocated a room which was not fit for our stay (although rectified quickly on request). The bar area was very warm (no aircon)
Breakfast good value None
Seems strange to me, that breakfast isn't included in room rate. Also there is no mini-bar in the room.
Nice room, plenty of space. Great bed Food is very average in restaurant. Room service menu is tastier with more choice.
Sam the waiter in the restaurant was (and has always been) an absolute credit to this hotel - he is attentive, courteous and should be rewarded in some way for his excellent work - other guest at check-out commented on this to the staff at reception also. The fact that the rate was not right on checking in and they had problems finding second reservation - also a bottle of wine was put on our room and service charged even though we did not have it (the slip was not signed for anyway) but this was taken off again when questioned.
Very clean and staff very friendly, food very good.
We were very surprised with how good the hotel was. We had a very pleasant stay and would certainly stay again if we need a hotel in the area. All stay extremely good. Nothing
The Hotel was very clean. Loved the big bed in our room. The food and drink prices at the hotel were some of the best we've seen. Unable to find an bad points with this hotel
The staff is very friendly, the food and accomodation is excellent and the surroundings are beautiful.
The bed in the room was of a very high class. It enabled us to sleep soundly for a refreshing start to the following day. Downs Hall is a period hotel with some astounding features. Visitors still require modern bathroom/shower facilities in their rooms. Downs Hall was lacking in this department.
Very professional, courteous staff, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable, room service was very good. Wonderful location. There was no lift to our room - but on a positive note the staff were happy to carry our bags up and down the stairs.
The very relaxed atmosphere and the good service Bar prices are over priced even by central London standards where I live
Comfortable room and dinner was good There is no lift to the 2nd floor (or certainly not that I was told about or directed to); the stair carpet between floors 1 and 2 is v worn; it was rather warm/stuffy in corridors; there is no quick route to car park, guests must walk out of the front and round the Hall to the back for the car park.
Too far away from anything
Grounds and building are beautiful, very peaceful. The perfect weekend retreat. Some of the furnishings looked a little worn
Good location for Stansted and still quiet at night.
Very nice hotel for some one stay overnight in Stansted Airport area and want to have a sniff of the English Landlord era.A walk through the hotel and garden is already relaxing before having a drink in the comfortable bar. Helpfull staff . Taxi from Stansted 21 gbp
We liked the history of the hotel and the extreme confort of the hotel, it was a wonderful break feeling like we were in our own bubble for the weekend. We thought the wedding exhibition on in the morning made things a little hectic and the wedding guests in the restuarant also detracted from our relaxed morning.
loved the oldness of it all and inc village and friendliness of hosts no
warm welcome and friendliness of owners. v comfortable lounge and good selection of magazines. Excellent breakfast with range of homemade jams and marmalades. no
A delightful visit hosted by a wonderful couple with an opportunity to explore a small village north of london near Stansted Airport. easy train ride to Estate at Audley End & Cambridge.
Very friendly and comfortable. Home from Home. Excellent location in a typical English village with good pubs and restaurants very close to Stansted airport and the M11 - but very quiet
very english style
Very nice and clean room. Easy to find a place to eat. Located nearby Stansted Airport. No
Quiet, quaint village for being so close to Stansted airport. Wide range of eating and drinking establishments and shops all within walking distance of this homely and lovely hotel, wish we could have stayed longer than overnight.
Friendly welcome, including a pot of tea! Spotless accomodation, with thoughtfully decorated rooms. Delicious breakfast...just wish I could have tasted more of those home made jams and marmalades!! Would stay again!
Charming, extremely well-kept hotel. Excellent English breakfast, with other choices also. Very fresh fruit salad. The kind and helpful owners use fair trade food sources whenever possible and also organic (bio) foods. Good choice for Stansted Airport stopover. No.
Friendly and helpful owners, warm welcome with some very nice touches (including chocolate biscuits!) The guests lounge was clean and pleasant , but lacked a focus(i.e Tv ,real fire etc). Room rate seemed a little high for a guest house ,,,,albeit a top quality guest house.
Very warm welcome from Melvin, fantastic design in the rooms ans the kitchen. If you go in the vicinity, don't miss it! Be aware the Stansted airport is nearby. If you're looking for the perfect silence, it might be a problem
Quirky ! Extremely well done! Lack of Digital TV (Free View) and Wireless broadband
Melvyn greeted me and spent time showing me around - it is fantastic!. We loved the 'diner' based on Ace Cafe - loved the details, great that we could help ourselves to breakfast - loved the flexibility - the fact we could bring our own food and cook. We loved looking around the cars. We will be back to try out another room and hire a car for the day. It was perfect! There is nothing we didn't like about our stay - we had the place to ourselves (which was perfect) but wondered how it might have worked out if it had been full.
Very quirky hotel, loved the kitchen/diner, my husband and 11 year old grandson loved the sportscars, None
We liked everything at the Pit Stop. Good, off street parking. Very good hosts. Excellent accommodation and very good Breakfast food. The Pit Stop deserves to be included in anyone's holiday itinerary. It is more than a B&B and it is of a very high standard. The American DIner is wonderful and don't let the self service breakfast put you off from staying here Melvyn and Sindy have everything you need in their diner to feed hungry guests. Not only do you get to stay in luxury accommodation for a reasonable cost you also get to look around the beautiful cars stored there. The Pit Stop B&B is near enough London and next to Standsted Airport. Car enthusiasts should make sure to stay here and even if you do not have a passion for cars, like my w
Splendid! Splendid! Splendid! This is the most fascinating place to stay at! If you love beautiful surroundings, comfort, extraordinary attention to detail in everything and fabulous cars then this is the place for you! Would my husband and I stay here again? Like a shot we would! Thank you Pit-Stop! Absolutely no complaints!
The generous size of the room. The theme/decor was fantastic. The justly proud, friendly and casual yet reassuring style of the management was welcoming. The self help, excellent choice and well presented food/style for breakfast was above expectations. The diner, (as well as our room), is stunning.
The staff were very welcoming. very clean and beautiful scenery. Felt very relaxed.
Very comfortable, wonderful landlady, will certainly use again.
very comfortable, owners friendly and helpful. Family of 5 able to fit in one room which is very rare. Excellent idea for self service buffet breakfast especially when you have early flight. No except hard to find in the dark.
Cleanliness and location Cold water supply seemed to be supplied by outdoor tank, the temprature being subject to whatever the weather at the time, as it was 30c the nice cool shower I was looking forward to after a very hot day was a little disapointing.
Friendly welcome and the rich serve-your-self breakfast
The attention to detail was impeccable. A lot of thought had gone into providing the "little things" that make a big difference.
The hotel was simply brilliant. The staff was friendly, the breakfast was good and the rooms were very clean. We had a magnificent stay.
The Hotel has avery clam & peaceful ambience and the food is excellent. Very helpful staff from reception to waiting. There are none.
Spacious rooms, calm quiet location. Excellent staff, excellent restaurant. No leaflets about local attractions
Beautiful hotel and attentive staff. Did not get the opportunity to try the restaurant this time but we will be back and will try it next time. Although all of the confirmation details on the booking e-mail were for the correct date, when we arrived the hotel system indicated that we should have been there the previous night. The hotel resolved the issue, luckily they were not full.
Efforts by staff to correct glitches which occurred with my room.... the central heating, the telephone, the missing blinds in the shower room The cold. Coming from HK where it is warm compared to the UK I did suffer. However Offley place and staff are unable to control the climate
Beautiful rooms and great staff. When we complained about the noise in our room they moved us straight away. Can be very noisy in certain rooms if there is a wedding taking place
Excellent room, spacious and beautifully furnished. Did not take evening meal but breakfast very good.
It was the most excellent hotel I've visited in all my life. It has a frindly staff and helpful, every thing was arengment. I felt as if I'm not in hotel, I felt I'm in historical palace. So, I'm coming to stay in this hotel soon. To be honest, I like everything.
The staff were incredibly polite but not too formal, really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The room was large and airy and the grounds beautiful. I didn't mind but perhaps it could do with a lift?
The staff were helpful, the location was very attractive, the room was excellent except for heating, and the food was good both for Dinner and breakfast. The central heating did not work well and we had to have two electric heaters.
wonderful friendly staff and good food well cold showers in the morning and a late start for breakfast at 07.30 (all the guests were queueing for the excellent breakfast)
The staff were Great ! The room was very new and modern and the food was top notch. The setting and the beer garden was very good also.
The restaurant and bar staff were very good and helpful. I had to leave before breakfast and they organised a breakfast tray for me the evening before. When I arrived I was told they were closed (meaning the pub) and the lady who met me when I explained I had a room booked made me feel that I was an interuption to her busy day. She showed me my room and left very quickly.
Nice hotel, peaceful settings, friendly staff, good food, perfect for exploring Duxford.
Wonderful staff! Great food.
Generally well run, friendly and human. Good food - standard pub food and slightly more adventurous things both well done. Nice location - good evening walks around. Nice that the bedrooms are in a separate wing away from any possible pub noise. On one occasion our room was not cleaned and the beds weren't made, apparently through an oversight. But as soon as we pointed this out, it was fixed. Though the rooms are new, there is insufficient ventilation - there is a skylight but it is too small and too low down to really provide much of a current of air, so the room overheats during the day and takes a long time to cool at night.
Good room, good facilities. Nice to have a king size bed rather than a standard double. Parking good. Nice quiet location in village and rooms separate from the pub so again nice and quiet. Not a big choice for vegetarians. Didn't like the two options available though didn't ask if they could do something else. Extra pillows would have been good and Tv reception not good for bbc1.
Bedroom was beautifully finished and furnished. Food delicious. Nobody available to check me in on a Sunday - this is not prominent enough on booking confirmation (it is one of last items) needs to be nearer top of the list so people are more aware of this.
The Red Lion is very well appointed. The rooms are modern and spotlessly clean. The restaurant is excellant. None
Very helpful staff, good accomodation, relaxing surroundings and excellent food. A cut above your average inn accomodation. Do partake in the pudding club and/or chef's tasting menu when available.
We just wanted a night away with a restaurant on site - this fitted our requirements perfectly because we had a delicious meal and spent the night in a very comfortable room which was detatched from the pub therefore nice and quiet. Breakfast the next day was also good. The staff were extremely friendly. There was only 1 member of staff doing breakfast and seemed to struggle a little to serve everyone.
checking out reception staff not aware of my booking, no iron/ironing board available
The window in our smoking room couldn´t be opened
comfortable - friendly staff
The Hotel and room was sufficient for my needs as a visitor to Stevenage for business purposes Did not have onsite parking but it's not really an issue as a local car park was 100m away
Express by Holiday Inn always have large well rooms with good bath/shower rooms Breakfast coffee was poor for price of hotel. The arrangements for collecting breakfast were crowded and cramped. The hotel parking was in fact in a supermarket car park and had to be vacated at 10am
i had to be transferred to a new room because of a very strange smell !
I like the service which was provided was very good. Just the general hotel was the best of my stay there was not anythink i disalike about the hotel
I stayed in room 403; however, there was noise from an air handling unit/compressor on the roof above my room which was not acceptable.
Bar open late and friendly staff No shower gel ,reception could not supply an iron and iorning board so made us very late for party, breakfast was very limited with no cutlery only small plates , slow toasters and dirty micro wave
