The room and hotel where fantastic
Mainly relax!!look around the sites Parking
The finish and the comfort of the rooms and the quality of the breakfast. The service at dinner was slow but the food was good when it came.
Interior design and standard of room N/A
Comfort, cleanliness, great staff and in a superb location Great food and service in a pleasant restaurant but most ladies sat and ate with cardigans on or jackets over their shoulders as it was mid Jan,cold outside, but no or little heating was on in the public areas
The bed was to die for, food fantastic, great location and ambiance. Highly recommended as a great weekend retreat. The shower was disappointing. Always prefer a glass screen to a clingy shower curtain.
Great position just on the lakeside. - Responsive General Manager.
The hotel was very luxurious and the staff were incedibly friendly and helpful. The location is great. There is plenty of parking. I liked the selling point of the dog on the bed. Of course Sam came home with us. I will be staying there again in the future.I have recommended the hotel, and my friend is going next month. Nothing we didn't like
The food in the restaurant was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable with excellent facilities. N/A
Rooms were clean, warm & had full amenities incl iron. No lift & no help with luggage for disabled. In fact there was a staff lift which could have been offered but was only mentioned as we were leaving.
Right at the start of the Coast to Coast Walk Everything else , unclean , terrible mattress , average to poor food , smells musty throughout , must be busy all year due to the c2c and don't care to update anything , a decent mattress and clean rip would be nice , I will never stay there again
clean room having a bath was wonderful when we had been walking, location is brilliant, staff very helpful.breakfast was good value. when we checked out, whoever was duty did not take the trouble to come out of the office,
Food in the restaurant was really nice & the staff really friendly. Thanks very much for organising the breakfast boxes for people leaving early to do the coast to coast bike ride. Very basic & needs a total overhall
Friendly and helpful staff, a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Attentive service. The bed in an executive double room was not very comfortable.
The garden the extractor didn't work in the bathroom, nor did the light. The room was too hot and above the kitchen which was noisy and resulted in lots of flies in the room. The delivery vans unloading under our room were a constant nuisance. The toiletries were not topped up, I had to ask for my canapes before dinner when everyone else had theirs brought to them as a matter of course. There was no flower
Quality of food was very good. Although a lot of choice on the menu for dinner, (7on each course) it was exactly the same menu each night so got rather boring when staying four nights and I had exhausted the dishes I liked by the 3rd night!! Also no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. Our room also needed modernising-very dated decor.
A lovely clean room in plea\sant surroundings I was surprised that there was no tea & coffee making facilities in the room considering the cost. I would have prefered to pay a little extra and have breakfast included.
Pleasant atmosphere, lovely room, very efficient staff.
The whole experience was welcoming, relaxing, and comfortable. The staff were excellent, and the hotel itself was a lovely retreat. N/A
Excellent location in beautiful, quiet Grasmere. Lovely grounds. Staff attentive without being overbearing. Superior room did not have double glazing, and no ventilation / extraction in the bathroom. Windows suffered from condensation, and signs that mouldy surfaces had been painted over. We were told that the hotel had recently been sold, and that the new owners were investing which sounds positive. Beds and pillows too soft for our liking.
Most of everything. The staff could be more nice and helpfull.
the hotel is very central for walking .the staff are excellent very clean but a bit worn round the edges eg carpets on corridors. no complaints
I enjoyed staying in the room, it was very clean and comfortable. I didn't like the fact that there wasn't a kettle in the room.
Most of all the friendliness and excellent service given by all the staff & the quality of the food
Spacious room with beautiful design, lovely food, pleasant staff, beautiful setting. OTher than the exceptionally squeaky headboard that we reported during our stay there is nothing I can criticise.
We love Keswick anyway so of course the location was ideal. We would fully recommend this hotel. The food was excellent. The menu changed daily and every meal was superb. The staff couldn’t do enough for you.
The accommodations and the food were excellent! It was also nice to have access to a large car park.
It was my 60th birthday treat from my daughters and we all had an absolutely fabulous time. The hotel and food were excellent and the manner of the staff is very rare to find these days. They were polite and courteous at all times. Normally we wouldn't really be able to afford £80 per person per night but for the experience it was worth every penny. It certainly would be worth saving up to return.
Warm welcome.Pleasing location near Lake Derwentwater.Excellent breakfast served by pleasant willing staff. sign of any owners or managers throughout our four day stay!? none at all!
The excellent food and the location and proximity to Keswick town. Bathroom was a bit dated and shower cubicle had seen better days.
The Hotel was and is amzing, food is gorgeous staff are brilliant. i stayed in the woodford suite and enjoyed every minute of it. keswick is such a beautiful place. nothing at all
Very clean, good standard of presentation and facilities bedrooms lovely Staff very welcoming, polite and courteous and nothing was too much trouble for the staff Food excellent, well presented and great choice
very freindly staff, excellent food, first class accommodation, every was perfect. nothing
peaceful and friendly
The staff were brilliant, the evening meal and breakfast were superb and very good value for money.
Staff attitude, good humour and eagerness to help in any way, was superb and made the short stay a memorable experience. None
Friendly staff, good location and nice view I thought that the room was hugely over priced for the facitlies. The shower was awful - constantly changing temperature and really weak - and the rooms were much more basic than we expected. I can only imagine that you pay for the view because it certainly wasn't the room. We left feeling very deflated!
Great location hotel clean and comfortable, staff very helpful and friendly.Best of all though was the restaurant where the food was just fantastic. We will be back!!
Very relaxed atmosphere, helpful and very friendly staff. The hotel is in a stunning location, yet well placed for access. Good room. Evening meal: only Table d'hote menu offered. While fantastic standard + 4 courses with plenty of choice, at £31 pp works out very expensive!
The attitude of the staff was excellent
a relaxing stay in a delightful setting, loved the pool and spa and the food was fabulous, worth another visit.
Friendly attentive staff and fantastic food
It was on the high street in Keswick, really central. Noise from refridgeration/ air con units
Excellent location, well appointed rooms, good value
The Hotel was warm and friendly, the room was very nice and very clean and the staff were very helpful. I would certainly use this hotel again when next in Keswick!
The staff at the Kings Arms were very helpful.
Position was fantastic, car park charges were included, staff were friendly. One bed and pillow was hard, room really needed updating, Staircase quite steep and room access right behind fire door.
The noise from outside and the creaking floorboards from the room above
Comfortable, warm room - great location Twin bedded room where one bed shorter that the other - not ideal for taller person.
location great .
Hotel was excellent value for money. super facilities and the sofa bed was excellent for my 2 year old son. Parking pass was handy and close to lake. Hotel was noisey at night due to centre location
Location , the hotel itself . The service in the dining room was below standard . Wrong orders , food luke warm .
we wanted a quiet relaxing break for a couple of days and we got it. The hotel is very clean and the room and bathroom was fabulous. The buffet breakfast was great...a nice change from the typical fry up that you usually get in hotels. WE liked teh self service idea of it all and were able to relax in teh comfy sofa's eat our breakfast and relax with the paper
The room was excellent and very spacious, with a lovely bathroom. The whole hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
very high standard of accomodation very conveniant whats not to like
Everything about the hotel was perfect, in a really stunning village. Thankyou for a great stay. Will be back
The bathroom, the location and the breakfast were outstanding! My partner and I found the beds to be uncomfortable and it was very hot on the third second floor, even with the heat turned off.
Beautiful rooms, beautiful setting, very relaxing
The spa bath, the furniture in the room. Extremely comfortable bed. Great breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was too hot even with the window open! it would have been good to have herbal teas in the room.
The quality of the decor and furnishing was excellent and the centrall location in Grasmere was perfect. Please write at least 15 words Lack of table seating for breakfast.
The Hotel was very comfortable for us and welcoming to our dog. The hot tub was great after a long walk out on the hills. The breakfasts were very good with a wide variety of choice both hot and cold. The Hotel lived up to its Organic billing.
The staff no
An excellent hotel, lovely service, very friendly and in a great location. Couldn't ask for more. Allerdale Counciol's rediculous and ludicrously expensive car parking policy. Don't they want to encourage visitors to the delightful town of Cockermouth whuich has suffered so massively because of the floods?
Nice, freindly people, excellent location in town, very clean and spacious room. Very good value for money. No bad points, recomend to all, good hotel.
central to all facilities. helpful friendly staff. excellent food. comfortable room. car parking was a bit of a headache
comfortable , friendly and efficient
very freindly helpful clean and the meal we had was excelent
Room was lovely, great value for money. Food was top quality and staff were polite, friendly and attentive
Excellent all round hotel with very friendly and helpfull staff.
lovely room,good food,attentive staff
Good value, friendly and helpful staff, very good restuarant with varied menu and good wine list, our room was lovely and very tastefully decorated - nice soft furnishings, great shower. Couldnt fault it.
Staff were professional and friendly.... If I really had to complain I would say the Decor of the rooms were somewhat dated and a little shabby however this did not retract from our enjoyment... The balcony could have done with a lick of paint and was rough round the edges... Had problems with the shower running cold....I would not like to have paid more than what we paid (£40 pp Per night) . . I had a look round the main part of the Hotel and in great contrast to the rooms I saw was Immaculate and very modern..... Was upset to find Bed and Breakfast did not include a cooked breakfast and carried an additional cost of £5 and was of a poor standard compared to the other food we sampled,,,In all - rooms need to be brought in line with the Hotel....
Close to where I was conducting my business Rooms need updating
we were given an excellent family package of 2 fantastic interconnected rooms.will definately stay again
staff are excellant! very helpfull and friendly. also food is very good, stayed twice within 4 weeks, and will return, thank you! shower in room was faulty.
the friendliness of the staff
Friendly service. Good breakfast Very uncomfortable matress on the bed. Absolutely appauling sound proofing between rooms. We had a poor night's sleep due to the people staying in the room above us. When they walked across the room we could hear every footstep, and we could hear everything they said. They weren't being noisy; the issue is the soundproofing.
Great location and a very nice hotel. Staff A1. The "double bed" in family room was very small and Very uncomfortable
the country house is beautiful and the staff are charming. Very good food . It was a bit too hot! Fair enough for a mild February, but the terra cotta decor made one imagine an oven! Only a quibble though.
The Garden Food Terribly Overcooked
Very friendly and helpful staff.Despite being busy with wedding ,staff were still excellent
Overall good. Sauna needs proper regular cleaning as there was strong smell of damp Sauna
The friendlyness of the staff. The warm atmosphere, the scenery. The evening meal was perfect. Compliments to the chef... It was quiet pricey. We were in the attic room without a view just a small window facing the back of the kitchen. for £120 we expected to have at least a view.. We were there for our Silver anniversary although we did not mention this to the staff.
swimming pool was a nice size for a small hotel. Hot tub also nice addition. Good size lounge bar with fireplace. Very cosy and friendly. Big outisde decked area with view. Very handy parking outside bedroom. cleanliness wasn't terrible but bit laid back. e.g. High chair was cleaned but arrived dirty, microwave full of bits of food from previous guest, no pillow cases. might have been short staffed during our stay maybe.
Beautiful lodge, beautiful food, beautiful part of the world! Very up- market whilst warm and welcoming. Excellent experience!
The hotel was perfect, the hotel overall was very nicely laid out, from the bar with the open fire, to the luxurious swimming pool and steam-room to the spacious and cosy room. It was just as described, the views were stunning, the staff were lovely and very welcoming, highly recommended! My only complaint is that we didnt stay for longer! No complaints what-so-ever
Location and views were absolutely gorgeous. restaurant on site very convenient. advertised as having a spa, and booked specifically for this purpose. however no spa or swimming pool. seemed to be under construction.
An independent and easy access to the Lakes and friendly hotel staff Not a very well stocked bar.
Good base for central and west cumbria. Comfortable, clean and overall most convenient. Users of swimming pool, draped in towels walking through accommodation areas.
The concept of a quality apartment is a good one. Staff were pleasant and worked hard to try to make amends and rectify the faults. The quality of the establishment was not to the standard described on the website. Poor maintenance of the suite - E.G. radiator and telephone not working, some advertised furniture missing, two light bulbs not functioning, kitchen equipment missing or dirty.
lovely part of the lake district with beautiful views and very friendly staff, great for family breaks
The hotel in general was good and the majority of the staff helpful and pleasant the rooms were clean and well equipped. The lack of somewhere to eat after 10pm other than room service. The wardrobe space was a little small but was ok for a weekend stay. Our room key would not open the room door one evening when we returned to the hotel after midnight and we could not find any staff at reception for 20 mins to open the door. The prices for dining and the bar prices were a little high
Room was very cosy and cute. Small, but very well decorated. Free coffee/ tea was nice. Staff was distant / detached. They were efficient and I don't have any complaints about them, but I didn't feel particularly welcomed to the hotel.
Lovely room in a fantastic part of the country. None
Comfortable accommodation and in a great location. We liked the complimentary tokens for the coffee machine! Our welcome was a bit rushed.
I liked the way the whole place was decorated and furnished. It had everything you would need for a short break. Nothing
it was good price, very central. comfortabke and clean it was great!!
The room was stylish and very comfortable, with excellent en suite facilities. Check in at the restaurant next door was fast and convenient as we arrived late evening. We were upgraded to a superior room at no extra charge as they were not busy. Thankyou None
The hotel is very clean and beautifully furnished in a modern style. It is a place where you are expected to be capable of looking after yourself, as befits anyone visiting the mountains. People who complain about climbing stairs have no business in Ambleside! Tea and coffee making facilities have been added to the rooms, as well as the coffee maker on the landing; the bedding was pure cotton; the mattress in our room was indeed memory foam. The top floor has outstanding views towards the mountains. We will definitely stay here again. This is a hotel for people who are independent minded and don't need 'looking after'. We are walkers, arrived on foot, no need to complain about walking to a car park! The downside of being centrally located is the nightlife and sound from the local hostelries. Pay your money and take your choice. We were very contented, enjoyed being in the centre of town, and enjoyed finding our own breakfast in the morning.
The room was furnished to a high standard and the location is excellent for visits to the local sights in Ambleside The room is just that, a room. When my girlfriend and I visited it was cold outside. I did not anticipate this being a problem but the room was very cold and the tiny heater in the corner did little to help. The room was also situated next to a single glazed window and on a Friday night it became very noisy and disturbed our nights sleep. I feel like if the window had been double glazed the room would have been significantly warmer and considerably quieter. We were provided with tokens for hot drinks but the hot drink machine was out of milk whilst we stayed. Finally the rubbish we generated was not collected despite being collected into a bag for their convenience and placed outside the door.
room was very well decorated and bed was very comfortable en-suite facillity was very noisy when toilets are flushed, taps ran and shower on.
Food and service were excellent Room and bed too small
Very poor room lighting - difficult to read
no choice at breackfast there was tomato on my plate and i was never asked if there was anything we dont want on our breackfast. I could have been allergic to tomato and would rather it not be on my meal.
Nice quiet setting The newer part of the hotel lacks the lovely atmosphere of the older building. My room was at the end of an anonymous corridor and was rather chilly.
Excellent room with good facilities. Evening meal and breakfast were first class. Will definitely use again when in the area.
Food was delicious and excellent value for money.
I liked it all, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was small yet perfectly adequate and very clean. The food was brilliant. I'll be back again. Nothing to put here. Even the locals were very friendly.
Its location near to Sellafield and leaving The room was tiny, cold, damp, smelled and the shower was difficult to make work (known fault as notice on door).
The positive and imaginative philosophy of the owner, which resulted in the friendliness of all the staff, the quality of the accommodation and food, the value for money and the many little 'extras' provided. The access from the road is a little difficult. Our bedroom did not have a mirror in a well-lit area.
There was a warm and friendly welcome nothing being to much trouble for any of the staff. The rooms were quite comfortable The food was impeckable but could do with a light snacks menu in the evening.
The staff were allvery young and didn't appear to have anyone supervising them. Room wasn't cleaned at all one day and on other days the bed was made but no new/clean towels weren't given and the bathroom wasn't cleaned at all during our stay.
Rooms clean and staff very friendly. Ideal location for Keswick and the lakes but without being in busy area. Nice outside area to sit in, weather permitting, and lovely views from light and airy dining conservatory. Room may be in need of an update, furniture didn't match. Bathroom had coloured suite, odd selection of pictures on walls looked like boot sale finds. Service at breakfast very slow.
It is the best small hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff are friendly and the Proprietor goes the extra mile to make your stay pleasant.
The food was excellent and the staff friendly and very helpful. The shower and bath were very good and the bed comfortable. The room was small, but there was plenty of storage. The lighting in the room wasn't very good, but this is mainly down to the energy saving bulbs, I hate them, but I expect the hotel has to use them nowadays.
Nice helpfull staff, nice breakfast, good location Running Hot tap unable to turn off, dirty cups in bedroom, Bin not emptied,
The room looked very good,a very large bed, lovely decore. Dining room lovely and beautiful aspects from hotel. Openned uht milk in room and was bad.Had evening meal, gave us wine list and then said no wine from it only choice of three! Coudn't sleep at night because a lot of noise until about 2 o clock. Thought from next door but they were complaining as well and said it was the chef and some staff up all night! Husband's sausages at breakfast were cold and didn't smell good and fruit juice looked a funny colour!
We enjoyed a lovely weekend at this hotel. Adam, the manager, was really welcoming and gave us lots of info on places we could visit. We had planned on walking but I had forgotten the walking boots!!! Adam was kind enough to lend his. The food both at breakfast and in the evening was really good. All the people that we met, Mike, Adam, Roz and Anthony were kind and helpful. We definitely intend to stay here again.
The hotel is a lovely house, tastefully developed into a very comfortable hotel, yet retaining many of the original features of the old stable block it once was. The welcome was very friendly and warm, and all the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The lounge area, with the conservatory and comfy furniture, and the tables and chairs was versatile, welcoming and inviting. Breakfast was lovely, and served in a charming manner by the young waiter. We were offered guidebooks and maps of the surrounding area if we needed them. the stable bar was welcoming and a quaint and atmospheric place to enjoy a drink. The owner could not have been more friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and want to go again
Breakfast,Interest and helpfuless of Staff,Comfy Bed, Colour of bathroom suite!
Very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Well situated hotel for exploring Ambleside and surrounding areas. Standard room was not very big and decor was old fashioned.
Traditional family run guest house in excellent location close to centre of Ambleside. All of the staff were friendly and helpful during our 3 night stay. Good selection on breakfast menu with sensible portions, all well prepared. Good sized bedroom advertised as twin but actually a single and double bed, decorated in traditional style. Modern, well- equiped shower ensuite. Squeaky mattress
excellent location and lovely room staff very friendly
Very friendly and welcoming. Helpful information about local walks. Warm and relaxing to come back to after a day's walking n/a
Friendly, clean & tidy, good location to the town & outlying area None
The hotel was in a very convenient place for the centre of Ambleside. The breakfasts were excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. we stayed in a "luxury room" which was just a standard looking room but with a four poster bed.
I found the hotel to be charming with a good level of comfort. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was a little lumpy.
Location & accommodation Very small breakfast
Staff were very friendly and food was good No lean towels, room was very cold, toilet paper not replaced, no satelite tv as advertised
The rooms are really comfortable and very clean.Breakfast is first class and the people who run the business are really friendly and helpful Nothing
Friendly, clean, great location and the breakfast will keep you going all day.Fantastic !!
This a beautiful hotel set in wonderful surroundings. The rooms are luxurious and are individually decorated. The spa is very relaxing and everything is spotlessly clean. We ate in the Terrace restaurant in the evening and the food was excellent. All the hotel staff were very friendly. We had a wonderful relaxing stay and hope to go again sometime.
the location and the leisure centre facilities. there was no pool table
food room very dark and did not have any view
Excellent facilities, especially with children, very comfortable room and friendly staff. Fantastic location for walking and pubs!
I liked the fact that there were so many facilities at our disposal if we chose to use them, As it was, we were blessed with amazing weather and I did not swim as much as I had anticipated; when I did, I thought th pool. jacuzzi, steam room etc were wonderful.
We have stayed at numerous luxury hotel's in the lake district, but nothing compared to Langdale. The food, waiter service, facilities, and whole complex is outstanding. Can't wait to return. N/A
The quality of all the staff who were excellent in every respect; they could not do enough for you and seemed motivated and happy. Some noisy children in the leisure area were annoying but nothing more; have made the hotel aware of this.
Supremely comfortable bed - wanted to take it home with me! All pretty good actually - great location, superb breakfast and nice sports facilities. Lots of kids, but then it was half term!
Restaurants and facilitys
My partner and I both thought that the hotel and its surroundings where brilliant, you really felt like you where somewhere very calming. We thought that the site was clean and tidy and the layout was great. We would definately like to return to langdale for a longer break.
