Pros: Friendly staff very helpful. Restaurant is excellent. Comfortable and pleasing decor. Definitely recommend!
Cons: No gym
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great central location, friendly staff, cool design/style, a good bed, spacious bathroom and good shower. It’s walking distance from the bars and the castle. Overall a very pleasant experience.
Cons: Shower screen was ‘short’ so water splashed everywhere on bathroom floor. Air con blows down on bed making it cold, but turning it off causes room to heat in summer. If they moved the bed to the other side, problem solved.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location was great and rooms were nice if small.
Cons: Walls very thin - lots of ambient noise. Breakfast buffet was fine but hot items were universally terrible for all the ones we tried. Breakfast staff also could use a lot more training and attentiveness.
7.0 Good
Pros: The bedroom was really comfortable and full welsh breakfast was incredible
Cons: The hotel was a little bit more generic than I thought it would be
8.8 Excellent
Pros: with a nice service for breakfast. the warm dish is prepared for you, and the rest is self-service. The location is also good, near to the Castle.

7.0 Good
Pros: Very clean. Close to shops at end of arcade entrance to hotel. Quirky decor.
Cons: Armchair shown in room photos but but in room. Parking NCP nearby not good as we took the car out on second day so invalidated second night booking. It was then fully booked when we tried to rebook. Had to park some distance away. Safe not working.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Location Friendly staff
Cons: The bathroom shower was poor, at one point the water stop all together. Had to pre book cooked English breakfast the night before which we did not realise until it was to late. Breakfast finished at 9.30 on Sunday would be better to finish at 10 so can have a lay in on Sunday, just my view.

Pros: Excellent staff. This is not a business hotel so expectations should be managed but it is well maintained hotel. They do not have a dinner menu but Sharon cooked cheeseburger on my request which was just excellent!

The overall layout and facilities were excellent and the kitchen was like my own with indoor eating area that was light and airy and outdoor space that was quiet and well protected from the elements. The staff were fantastic and the location brilliant... Right in the heart of Cardiff but without the noise and chaos. The breakfast was brilliant... A credit to the Welsh hospitality industry... Well done!

Cons: Nothing really worth complaining about; everything was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was clean staff friendly and the space was good little out Dorr space at the back of property was great too
Cons: I booked this property on the basis it had parking. The property does not have parking. Street parking is available further down the street but this needs to be paid for on a day by day basis. We went to Cardiff Central Station 12.50 for 24hrs or 25 for 48 better option bit more cost . I had a van with stuff I needed to unload and pack so bit difficult on first night to get sorted. Property made up for this though.

Pros: Great location for city. Friendly helpful host and staff.
Cons: Bathroom a bit tired.
7.0 Good
Pros: Superb hosts and location. Unfortunately the bathroom and room to some extent were DIY mishaps. The water provided had the lid of when we entered the room. Ensuite was poorly finished considering we paid over £300 for 3 nights
Cons: English breakfast was good, continental poor. Cereal in big pots with all the old crumbs half way up the container, clearly not been emptied for some time.

Cons: Decor could do with refresh
6.3 Good
Pros: The clean & comfortable room. Great parking. Pleasant staff. Good location.
Cons: Baffled as to how this can be given a 4* rating. A pleasant place but the same as a Travelodge or Premier Inn. Bizarre that the receptionists knew the TV’s weren’t working on the 6th floor but continued to book guests into rooms, without telling them of the issue, whilst others were available, with working TV’s on other floors. Really not an attractive building.

Cons: £20 overnight charge for parking excessive (& no guarantee of a place)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I liked our view of the bay and the hotel was lovely.
Cons: It's the kind of hotel that takes itself too seriously. It was billed as a five star resort, but the only difference I could see between it and any other hotel in the states was the bidet in the bathroom.
5.8 Okay
Cons: Staff ok but hotel and central reservations very unhelpful and difficult to deal with over booking problem.

Cons: Breakfast. Cleaning can be better.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Big comfy beds and great size rooms and shower room and great space for luggage
Cons: It was all good Just a kettle and coffee option for rooms as with kids to settle down a cuppa and rest is always lovely and needed :)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff and accommodation was above what I expected for a hostel.
Cons: The rooms temperature control wasn’t good. Even on the lowest setting was uncomfortable
4.3 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: Very basic, the room wasn’t clean, I found a old sock and god knows what it was covered in, that’s anyone’s guess, The window wouldn’t open, so no fresh air , no towels or soap in the dispenser, went down for breakfast and even that was cold apart from breakfast I mentioned all of the above to the lady on reception, didn’t complain about the breakfast because I just wanted to get out of there, anyway all the way home I was the butt of all the jokes as I was the one who booked it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hostel was the perfect base for our family trip to Cardiff. The bedroom was spacious and very clean. It had a excellent shower within a big bathroom. It definitely exceeded our expectations and we hope to stay to stay again in the future.

Pros: Facilities
Cons: Others not drying their dishes and cleaning up after themselves
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Having an on-site free car park was much appreciated (and rare for Cardiff hotels), the staff were lovely and the room was clean, comfortable and had air con. The bar is open late, and we thought it might be a bit noisy, but the rooms were very quiet and we had a really good night's sleep.

Pros: Lovely hotel and staff very friendly
Cons: No robes!!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I attended the vale hotel for one night due to being a guest at a wedding only down fall I think is late check in and early check out, because of the wedding being at 12, we literally did not have chance to use any of the facilities as we had to vacate by 11 I do wish for the price we paid for one night we had the change to use it ... nice enough hotel, and I will say the bed was absolutely amazing one of the most comfortable beds I’v ever stayed in... but would I stay again ? For the same price.... Probably not
Cons: The Price of breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Apart from the annoying early check in hiccup, everything was excellent. Both the main resort and Hensol Castle are outstanding in every way.
Cons: We were attending a wedding at Hensol Castle, bit disappointed we couldn't get into our room until 2pm ( official time is 3pm ) . We were rushing around to get ready and get the shuttle bus to arrive at the wedding for 2:30pm. No offer of a changing room except for using the sweaty leisure facilities locker room. Given the hotel does ALOT of weddings, they could come up with a better solution.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Bar food is un-inspiring and takes way too long for food to arrive, not great if you are on business and in a rush
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous spa, surprises at every turn. Fantastic food. Attentive staff. Lovely room. Perfect relaxing getaway.
Cons: Housekeeping banging doors from 06:45

Pros: Good breakfast. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Thin walls. Can hear neighbours talk. Bathroom not well designed. Have to climb over wall of tiny, unusable bathtub in order to use the shower. Taps slow to respond - and you have to keep your arm under the flow while you adjust it from very hot to bearable.

Cons: A bit hot at night and couldn’t open the windows
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: A little tired now and the dingle rooms are very small indeed.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location Staff were amazing accept for Duty Manager on the Friday who decided to deal with my compliant by talking through the receptionist.
Cons: Room was a Junior Suite was not up to Junior Suite standards the room was no better than a premier inn family room the bathroom was tiny. We paid over £500 for this room shocking. Try to charge us 88 for Breakfast for two days but when you turn up for breakfast they o it take two vouchers and seem to not charge for the kids.

Pros: Staff very friendly. Good bar. Walking distance from all attractions. Close to shops. Room was spacious and well appointed. Very quiet
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast very basic but acceptable
Cons: Biscuits in the room would be nice, especailly after a long travel. More milk. 4 minute cartons is barely enough for 1 cup of coffee. I had to request extra each day, which was not a problem to stff
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The property was a pleasant surprise. Great location, spacious room with a large comfortable bed. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room and generally around the hotel. The receptionist staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. I requested a parking space, as one of the guests is disabled and my request was fulfilled. All the guests were happy and we would all definitely stay again.
Cons: It was noisy, but understandable as it was the weekend and the hotel is located in the City Centre.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Room ready on arrival, early at 11.30am. Cleanliness and freshness of the room on arrival. Location is great, in the city centre, 50 metres from shopping precinct. Staff we're very attentive, pleasant and helpful throughout our short stay.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Room was comfortable
Cons: Prices!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was extra large.
Cons: Lobby could be a bit more inviting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were upgraded to a superior room as it was our wedding anniversary. The bed was so big and the room was spacious.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The outside bar area plus bar food
Cons: The fact that we were treated like thieves when asked for the fridge to be unlocked so we could have water. It was a hot day and when I checked in I was asked if I wanted to leave my card details in case of accidents in room or for mini bar, I said no not needed as I expected bottle water to be supplied in room complimentary.. Get to room and no bottled water, went back to reception to be told as the hotel is a franchise they do not offer water complimentary and it is in mini bar at £1.50 per bottle!! They said as I wouldn't leave card details then they could empty fridge and we could put are own water in it!! So they sent a housekeeper with a white garbage bag to empty the fridge, yes that's right to empty the whole fridge and carry it out of our room.. Never in any hotel I have stayed in has there never been water complimentary, even when we stayed in park plaza in London we had two bottles of water complimentary. For this reason and the way we were made to feel by reception staff we would not stay at this hotel again, SHOCKING
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel with the best staff
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room... comfy bed .. asked for ice bucket it arrived soon after.. polite staff
Cons: Not enough channels on telly very good
7.0 Good
Pros: Te bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean.
Cons: Toiletries (only shampoo and conditioner). I got an ear infection in the swimming pool and the jacuzzi seemed dirty. You had to pay extra for robes.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: + good noise isolation (no street noise) + amazing location
Cons: - staff member being told off and sent home at breakfast, rather unprofessional to do it beside the serving counter in a public area when people sat down eating. - air conditioning completely ineffective and it was locked from going cooler.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was in a good location and the staff were very friendly. The breakfast was nice but the scrambled egg was not very nice as I think it was made from powdered egg? The weather was hot but I don't think the air conditioning in the restaurant was on as it was very warm.
Cons: I paid for a larger bed and superior room but don't think I got either. I don't think the bedroom had been cleaned very well as the toiletries in the bathroom had been used and left in the shower and by the side of the bed on the carpet was a red stain that looked like blood. I didn't raise these issues at the time as I was in a disabled room and did not want to move. For the money I paid I don't think it was very good value.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We intended to book slightly closer to the railway station, but made an error, so ended up taking a cab, due to having a lot of luggage. However, when we departed, we easily walked to the station with our luggage, having learned the neighborhood. The location is perfect for visiting the Cardiff Castle, yet is in a much quieter area than many other hotels. We really enjoyed staying in a place that was NOT an over-priced relic built in the 19th century, for a change. Facility was one of the best two that we have stayed in during this two week visit to UK. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Cardiff, hopefully in the spring.

Pros: A comfortable and relaxing establishment. A friendly environment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were driving around England/Wales for the first part of our UK trip, and picking places to stay as we figured out where we'd end up each night. The hostess at the Laurels was very accommodating of our last minute booking, and the room was very nice. The area is very pretty, with a great pub around the corner, along with a gorgeous museum and church. Breakfast in the morning was very nice.
6.8 Good
Pros: House very nice and room comfortable and clean. Breakfast very good. Good location for easy access into Cardiff and lovely village and local pub.
Cons: The atmosphere is odd. Whilst the hostess is polite, there is a sense of coolness. The first thing is an emphasis on the house rules rather than a welcome. Just a sense of you feeling awkward rather than relaxed. Doubt we will stay there again which is a shame as it is a lovely location.
