This lovely 2-star "hotel de charme" is unique in Calais! It is located only 500 metres from the train station and it is equidistant from the sea. Several restaurants can also be found a couple of steps away. If guests wish to combine a short journey to Calais with a comfortable stay in a special hotel then the Richelieu is highly recommended. The proud owner of the Richelieu was personally involved in the recent renovation making sure that each of the 15 bedrooms are welcoming and comfortable. They are all differently decorated with a personal and cosy touch and the immaculate bathrooms have a minimalist and modern style. Some of the rooms of this hotel situated in a quiet location in the north of Calais have balconies which overlook a nearby park. Here close to the sea and Rodin's famous sculpture of the 6 burghers you are within walking distance of many of Calais' most popular attractions.
Room comfortable and warm on a cold night.Bathroom facilities excellent
Hotel is being renovated and bare plaster walls etc not exactly welcoming. Lack of tea and coffee making facilities a dissappointment
Very friendly and helpful staff Clean renovated old room, modern bathroom Generous breakfast
During the season the parking could be a problem
Do not be put off by the outside its been refurbished excellent value for money
We will stay there again. It suited our needs perfectly as a place to stay for one night in central Calais. It is very nice being opposite the park and we liked having a small balcony. The yard in which we parked our car is secure and private. The owner, Benoit Grancier is charming and very helpful. Very close to tunnel/ferry.
The shower stall needs a curtain or the shower head should be repositioned as the water drips onto the bathroom floor. There should be a thick bathroom mat for this purpose and also to stand on when leaving the shower. Thicker and larger towels would be nice too. A toilet brush should be available to the guest. The TV does not have a remote control.
Hotel was spotless, especially the bathrooms, which are very nice. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice of cereal, fruit, yoghurts and bread and croissant.
I don't know why he took the booking if he didn't have the rooms we requested.
seemed very run down
Very helpful and courteous staff. The location was ideal, the adjacent park very beautiful; breakfast was excellent!
I am sure facilities will be much improved after their in-process work on the building! No hair dryer or shower, only iron tub w/ handheld wand.
