The situation of the hotel and the comfort.
Its location, our room overlooking the town square, the hotel being in the style of a Moroccan riad
Beautiful hotel, room very clean and nicely furnished, staff pleasant and helpful. A lovely place to go and be pampered. Breakfast is extra and expensive for what is on offer.
It was clean, great room (large bed), th epool was nice. The pillow was not comfortable but I realized later that I could have requested a different one.
friendly and helpful no
The location of the hotel is ideal - centrally located and convenient to all the sites in the historic district.
Very nice location, lovely rooms
Good location on a plaza. Large luxurious rooms.Within walking distance of the Roman ruins and museum.
easy access, very central
central location and very comfortable hotel for the price, with easy parking.
good car park
Near of the historic buildings The «cafetaria» service
Very central Building site outside room window so quite noisy early morning. Room quite small.
Great value, location (short walk to Roman ruins), cleanliness. We spent time in Segovia, Salamanca, Caceres, Sevilla and Toledo and this was the best accomodation and value. I would have liked to have had coffee available at 0630 or 0700 hrs.
closeness to tourist attractions and the helpfulness of the staff. good layout, pleasant hotel
The easy of parking. Closeness to the sight of Merida.
Stall were coureous and helpful. The hotel was ideally placed for a short walk to the centre of historic Merida.
Comfort of room and proximity to local sites of interest. The bar area is unwelcoming and uncomfortable, and poorly stocked (no Fino sherry). The breakfast is very expensive. The internet use, at minimum 6.50 euros is ridiculously expensive - this should be free to hotel guests. The deposit of 10 euros for pool towels is insulting to guests.
Attractive and comfortable The food in the dining room was not good. I would advise anyone to go out to dinner.
The staff were very helpful and the room was of a very good standard, clean, tidy and very comfotable. Overall a great hotel with a very quaint setting and mass of history in the centre of Merida. Breakfast was of a buffet style (unless you choose to have it delivered to your room) and was good value for money for adults. Facilities were very good with bar, gymnasium, pool, lift and good access for wheel chairs. There is adequate parking, but this attracts a further charge - but worth the security to your vehicle. I didn't eat in the retaurant in the evening but did look at the menu, and it looks very good and is in Spanish, English, French and German. It would make a good destination for a couple looking for a short weekend break in my opinion and is a good recommendation for any business stay overs. Difficult to find - unless you have an up to date satnav. I wasn't happy at being charged a tenner for a bowl of coco pops for my 2 year old daughter's breakfast.
pleased there was plenty of other leisure area other than the bar as the spanish smoke such a lot. outside area most attractive part of hotel. liked the historical information about it. excellent staff. we had an upgrade as the room offered to us initially smelt of smoke/good breakfast & bar snacks. we were very surprised at the poor quality of the food in the restaurant. we ate there twice & on the second occasion my partner had the wrong starter & main course & another british couple sent their food back. lack of english other than in the reception was a bit of a problem.
The building & situation were goog but the amenities made it not value for money
The location and the building
Fantastic oasis of calm in the centre of the town. Good location to see the sights, I would recommend visitors eat in the restaurant. Attentive staff, great food and excellent value for money
Friendly, helpful staff. Possibility of cancelling one night (early departure) with full refund. Location within the old city walls, very central, but extremely quiet. Large room and bathroom (even for standard room) Very difficult to find, as there are hardly any signs to it, and the town is a real labyrinth.
I loved that old hacienda, it was just perfect. Coming from a country which is widely covered with free wifi I was missing that in the hotel.
The underground carpark was secure. The information given at reception for the various sightseeing options was very helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent.
The parador is well located in the centre of the interesting and lively town of Merida. It has the usual comprehensive but somewhat institutionalised parador ambience and facilities, and is less interesting than some of their more historic buildings. There is good underground parking on site. The (male) receptionist was about as welcoming as a nightclub bouncer. A younger (female) colleague tried her best to compensate. Our room was a little tired for a hotel of this price.
Well appointed, rooms comfortable; friendly and helpful staff; bar open all day for snacks and drinks; good sized swimming pool. Location of hotel not easy as signs in Merida sparce then non-existant
The breakfast was not too fresh, with cheese and ham all sweaty.
THe rooms were larger than the normal rooms in Spain THey did not have non smoking rooms and the odor was really bad
I didn´t like anithyng. This hotel was stuck in past, the cleaning was nothing, the acomodations were very old More cleaning, don´t tell persons this hotel is central, when is outside merida
It was convenient to the Madrid airport. I requested a non smoking room, however, I am not certain I was in one as there was smoke odor in the room.
reeption staff the air conitioning was turne off and it was too hot to sleep
I liked the free parking space There is no noise isolation.
Breakfast was too expensive for that what you get....
Good location The breakfast is very poor. Just had tostes with butter and strawberry jam to eat.I don´t recomend this hotel with breakfast inclued.
Decent stop over hotel Breakfast was very poor.
Location Staff did not speek Englich, but were very friendly
Not many dining options.
Swimming pool was a benefit. No childrens chairs in resturant - this does not make the place so child friendly.
Local convenience The room was too small, uncomfortable and noisy.
food good to fair
Swimming pool was good. Receptionist was helpful. The Air Con did not appear to cool the room at all. It simply recirtculated warm air. Some Bar/Restaurant staff were rude and unhelpful. Breakfast was not available before 8am.
Good, clean facility - conveniently located
Clean hotel room
Big bedroom in the superior room A four star hotel without a restaurant, just a snack bar. Terrible. Slow Reception check in. Only one lady on duty and a big queue. Bad lunch food, almost inedible, soggy sandwiches, burnt toast. Noisy position near carpark, multi cinemas etc.
We liked almost everything about our stay there. It would have been nice if they included breakfast in the fairly high price. It's rather far from the main city attractions (but not far from the bust station), but it was conveniently close to the big Carrefour super-store. We still managed to walk everywhere in Merida.
Large room with late provision of food. Breakfast was not included in the price and turned out to be rather expensive. Further away from the centre than we expected.
Nothing The english translation was full of mistakes. At checking-out, even with the copy of the company's name the reception person couldn't make a correct invoice. In Spain they can only write spanish...
The family room was very nice and comfortable. Nice place to stay and our kids loved the extra touches for them. The internet charges. You couldn't even use the computers in the lobby without paying a fee.
I didn't lioke at all the noise outside as the hotel is too close to "El foro" - entertainement area.
Good room with balcony and view Only that we didn't have any soap or shower creams etc etc
Good sized room for family of 4. Breakfast a bit pricey but good selection. On the No4 bus into town for historic centre. secure parking available.
Space It wasn't 4 stars, it should be 3
Nova Roma is quite well located, close to the theater archeological site. The room was clean and comfortable, and the food at the restaurant was good.
This hotel was pretty depressing overall. One of the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept on.
close to the centre - had parking available for drivers
The personal were nice and helped when we needed. There was no AC on the bedroom, but there was a heater...so no cold during the nigth. The city it self, is not what we expected. I think the hotel loose with the neighbors´s destroyed buildings and the dirty city.
The hotel was conveniently located to walk to all the monuments. The beds were a bit hard even though my son's family liked the hardness. Breakfast was not included.
Good location for exploring the Roman ruins on foot. Good-size room and very clean. The room price seems rather expensive compared to other Spanish cities.
Great room and bathroom, very cosy. Would definitely come back.
good location, lift, large room. no wi-fi, payment at check-in.
helpful staf and central location including (free!) parking in front of the hotel entrance the breakfast options in the adjacent cafe were somewhat limited
The location is good: small walk from museums and archeological sites, plaza de espana, etc... The town looks relatively safe at night, so we walked around to the river to see the roman bridge and de mourish 'al-qasaba'. The rooms are cosy and confortable. Not a five stars location but is a nice place to stay. Waht you see on the photos corresponds to the reality. They say they have parking lot, but that's only for a few cars... anyway, it wasn't dificult to find place arround.
Room was clean and spacious. The hotel was convenient to the main sights and we were able to park outside the hotel. The hotel was poor value for money: no free wifi, no outside lines on the room phone, which meant we could not use our phone card We have paid the same (or less) for comparable hotels on this trip which had all of these services and included breakfast in the rate (which our rate did not). The staff, while friendly, had no english at all which made it difficult to get information. The room was extremely noisy late into the night as it was on a thoroughfare used by very loud teenagers.
Hotel was situated right in the heart of the town.
It is located in the city center. Very convenient.
Very good location with free parking outside. Pleasant and efficient staff. Peaceful clean rooms.
Very centrally located; helpful staff - with my very limited Spanish, staff tried very hard in English and French to assist me. None.
The staff were excellent and friendly and the location superb The rooms were very basic the beds hard with no coffee or tea making facilities.
Tidy rooms, friendly staff Very uncomfortable beds
It was near every attraction of the city, we didn't need taking the car anywhere to sightsee, we went by foot.
Very interesting concept mixing very modern/tech with old architecture. Location is great.
Excellent modern boutique hotel in great location, right next to roman runis. The shower configuration looked cool but wasn't that efficient and water leaked onto the floor in bathroom.
A really friendly hotel, designed elegantly, clean, really comfortable with a lot of attention to detail. Breakfast was really good and good value. The electronic controls for room temperature were simple and effective. This was the best hotel we have stayed in for a long time and one we would return to when we visit this area of Spain again. It is well hidden and took some finding - use a very good map and find it on foot!
Very slick and stylish small hotel. Location in city centre and easy to walk to all sites and restaurants. Amazing Roman theatre. Impossible to find. Would have helped if air con etc instructions were also in english.
Very close to interesting places to see in Merida Bed cover and cushions not very clean
great location , and very relaxing enviroment
An excellent boutique hotel. The spa is rather basic but the design, comfort and service made up for this. It's difficult to find, even with satnav. The best thing to do is to go to the 'Temple of Diana' and then head towards the river along what looks like a pavement (sidewalk if you're from the US) for about 50 metres: the hotel is on your left. Ask for the parking service!!
The location is unbeatable. The staff were wonderful and the hotel was very comfortable. They allowed us to keep our car in the garage (which only cost 2 Euros for the night) for several hours after checkout, so that we could maximize our sightseeing adventure in historic Merida. intend to return there in the fall. All in all, I think the hotel provided very good value for the money spent.
This is a one-off but excellent hotel because the owners are passionate jazz fans who sustain a sophisticated jazz theme throughout (jazz plays quietly over the sound system in the well decorated and cosy public areas, each bedroom is named after a famous jazz musician/vocalist, and on Fridays and Saturdays in July and August live jazz is performed in the pretty courtyard after everyone has eaten their generous evening meal). The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped and the breakfasts good. Moreover, the hotel is located in a small town not far from Merida which is friendly and sufficiently attractive to justify a visit in its own right. Parking exists in the quiet streets around the hotel. I think the only "problem" is that the hotel is difficult to find once in the town itself - there are no signs directing you to its location not far from the main church.
Very beautiful, rustic. Dificult to find using GPS ( because of wrong maps in google earth and outhers )
...What I liked most? Without having any doubt the staff and it's warm welcome! The hotel is perfect! The food they serve, the home-made breafast! I will definitly come back! Thanks a lot to pepe, lola, y constanza.
This hotel was attractively quaint with an emphasis on rural and music interests the food and service was good Access was difficult due to surrounding roadworks which probably accounted for the slight smell of drainage and dampness and the loss of electricity during breakfast
Very nice hotel just a few kilometres west of the city of Melilla, the family runned hotel staff was very nice and did their utmost to make our stay as pleasant as possible, good restaurant with typical Extramaduran dishes and soft jazz music, atmosphere was great. That's the reason for us to book our holiday hotels via booking.com, otherwise you won't find such a nice place. Go there!
There was a live jazz band with guitars, saxophones and vocals, playing fado and traditional jazz tunes. The band were truly brilliant and the young girl singing was a local girl with the most sublime voice you could imagine. A wonderful evening with great food and staff as well. One of the two bedrooms smelt of stale cigarette smoke but it seems that is to be expected in Spain
The room was clean and comfortable, if a little small.
The rooms are nicely decorated in andalus style and obviously recently re-decorated. The staff was very nice and at the same time not invasive.
Unique style, good price, nice stay.
It had a decor that seemed to combine both Muslim and Spanish features. Ideally located near the train station and for all that Merida has to offer. Very clean and comfortable.
This hostel was more a hotel than a hostel. Opened just 3 months ago, everything was very new and perfectly fitting together and the whole facility seemed to be well planned. Very friendly staff, very nice and modern rooms with ornamental decoration, and the 2-bed rooms were sufficiently large. Service was nice.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Everything is quite new and modern. The underground parking garage with elevator was something I didn't expect from this hostel. Well worth the money.
Seeing the city
The staff were most helpful, the room was nice with a large patio & parking outside the hotel was easy
Friendly, helpful receptionist.English spoken.Clean.Good value.Close to Roman Acqueduct. A long walk from bus station, town centre and places of interest.A little difficult to find.
the location is very proper the staff and the other guests were not business like and no tourists, a bit vague
Easy to find. Easy to park inside the hotel. Booking.com classified as "hotel" and it is a hostel.
It was a basic room with polite and helpful staff. The building design was poor, we could hear all conversation in the rooms on the same floor. Even when a shower was taken and the television was on. This was annoying when it was late at night, it kept us awake. Not recommended for those who want a quiet room.
I stayed in a single room - though it was small, it was very clean and they have house keeping everyday. It's right next to a supermarket, and 15-20 min walk passing by the aqueduct to town center and train station (~€4 by taxi). Good place to stay at if you need to stay in town for a day or two.
Very helpful staff, safe underground car park, new premises.
