Pros: Steve and Angela were so helpful and accommodating, plus the breakfast was really great! Thank you for making our stay so smooth and getting us to the wedding on time!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic little place! Stayed here with friends for a friend's wedding that was happening close by. Bedrooms were large and spacious and cleaned to a very high standard! The beds were possibly the most comfortable I've ever stayed in too! Breakfast was delicious too and all the little details that can often be over looked in small guest houses were on point! Would absolutely recommend and stay again! Thank you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had never stayed in a B&B before and this was a great first time. Before arriving we were emailed a list of places to eat nearby which was very helpful. On arrival the owners came out and helped with the bags, then we got offered tea and homemade cake which was lovely. The room was clean and very comfortable and had it's own private garden. We loved the bath robes provided, a very nice touch. Great selection at breakfast and some of the nicest jams I've ever had. Friendly owners. Another thing we liked was the efforts the owners have made to make their business more sustainable. 10/10, we'll be back if we ever venture to Dartmoor again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Barnabas House (stayed in 1st floor room Hound Tor) was the perfect getaway for our family wedding in Calstock. It was really peaceful (even though it was fully booked we never heard anything from anyone else). Spotlessly clean, bedding and towels smelt really fresh, bed was super comfy! Also great silent running fridge as these things can be really loud. Coming from our hectic London life we really appreciated the change of scenery and liked the traditional but chic decor. Barnabas House felt really calming and a relaxing place to return home to. Angela and Steve were also really friendly and accommodating, even with our late check in due to traffic problems. If we come back to Devon again we'll definitely stay here again! PS Sorry we didn't ever wake up early enough to try the highly rated breakfast!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Room and the hotel are beautifully restored. Breakfast is high standard People (staff and owners) are friendly and professional. Location 100 metres from the Hoe and old port of Plymouth is unbeatable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Property was very close to town centre. Property was modern , comfortable and spotless . Shower was superb
Cons: If I was to be picky , because of the time of year I would say that a fan could be useful in the room due to it being quite hot .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: great location, within the 15 minute walking distance of the town centre shown on the local information. maps, the hotel is on the edge of the Hoe.breakfast great and rooms very comfortable, staff very helpful.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room was quiet at night. Shower was good. Good range of breakfast choices. Excellent location by The Hoe. Staff very friendly and accommodating, helping with finding car parking space
Cons: The mattress was 'over-used' and uncomfortable. The bedroom.was very light at night; curtains thin, room all painted white - meant sleep was difficult.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The Breakfast was lovely, plenty of selection and as much as you wanted, All the staff I had dealings with were very friendly and polite, The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels each day, Also situated in the perfect place to meet my needs.
Cons: I was in the basement and the view out of my window was that of a brick wall, hardly what you associate with a hotel on the south coast, also the handle on my door was very loose and kept coming off in my hand. I also think at roughly £80 a night is a bit steep for a room with a non existent view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Central for everything we needed
Cons: A very warm welcome ,very friendly we will be staying here again
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, fresh clean modern property, perfect location for our needs, greeted by the stunning security dog, the staff were all lovely and friendly, comfortable bed, crisp clean sheets, I was shocked to see how well stocked the room was, not only did it have the typical tea and coffee facilities or shampoo, it surprisingly had conditioner, a flannel, sewing kit, shoe shine and shower cap and more. I especially loved the visitor handbook in our room telling us the history of the hotel it was very interesting and informative of things to do in the area, the breakfast was lovely, I don’t like sausages however I always try if ever I’m away and I must say these “Devon” sausages gluten free were soo lovely I asked for their supplier details. we were visiting for a wedding and stayed 2 nights, the cleaners were very understanding that they were unable to get into our room to clean as we were getting ready and had others coming to have hair done. They were happy to come back and try but wedding was an afternoon so would have been late but the room was immaculate any way so didn’t really need anything doing.
Cons: I can honestly say there was not one thing I did not like about the hotel, for some I’d say the only issue may be parking but we managed to get a space at front of hotel, very tight squeeze then realised there is a car park at the back with 12 spaces, ok if your planning to not use your car while you stay as it could get blocked in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owner was helpful and so pleasant.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, lovely people
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness Helpfulness
Cons: it was all good

Pros: Wasn’t expecting much as the guest house was so close to the station and very reasonable. But Kami stayed up until 12:30am to let me in and the room was spotlessly clean.
Cons: Nothing
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Room was clean and comfortable
Cons: Room was right on the street and next to front door where staff congregated to chat and woke me,staff came into room without knocking as they had "forgotten" I was there, staffignored me when I checked out
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location just a couple of minutes walk from Plymouth railway station. The room was comfortable and clean, but very small.
Cons: It would've been great to have breakfast included.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, easy, good value and perfectly suited my needs. Kasia was a star.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is in an unlikely spot bang next to the station, a little bit of old Plymouth left untouched by the mania for pulling things down. Down a little old cobbled street is this Victorian house completely refurbished and modernised. The rooms are extremely comfortable (the best towels I have seen in any hotel for a long time) and everything has been thought of. The only drawback is that there is only a help-your-self breakfast of fruit, tea/coffee and croissant - but most people are likley to be travellers passing throguh the station so not a major problem. A small independent guest house that deserves support.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very caring and welcoming staff, spotlessly clean, lots of little attentions in the bedroom (chocolate, biscuit, etc.)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean Very central
Cons: Nothing

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was comfy, the pool was a good length, the food was good - a little overpriced but still good. Would return later in the year.
Cons: The fact that some things weren't explained to me before booking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed overnight, had dinner which was outstanding, Between amazing muse bouche and beautifully cooked John Dory and (which my husband loves) and gorgeous deserts we really feel it was the best meal we had in U>K> In fairness some others were good too,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, welcome, building, spa. Nothing better than a sit down check in with welcome drinks provided without asking, as we arrived. Welcome provided by Olivia set the tone for our stay, delightful in every way. Fantastic old Manor house with 21st century spa which is worth the visit alone. One of the best check in experiences. It's an hotel with a unique vibe of historic coupled with modern day comforts, with the exception of aircon. But if your walls are renaissance stone fit to repel an invasion, room remained cool and comfortable. Multiple pools, saunas, steam rooms indoor and out including waterfall features and so many other delights. Bar, lounge area are baronial and exquisitely furnished, so peaceful for a nightcap. The bar staff are friendly and again, so important, welcoming and appear happy to see you. Very few places get this right, but Boringdon Hall does it best. Hope to return soon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The scones for our afternoon tea were so light. The staff very kind and understanding of our special requirements.
Cons: Some of the information requested at reception had not been passed to the relevant staff where my mother and I had to eat due to her not being able to make the stairs.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Second time of staying, absolutely faultless. The spa is world class, and the way they have incorporated 21st high end comfort in such an old building without spoiling all the original features is sympathetically done. This is now our go to place for treats and celebrations. The little touches (home made biscuits, artisan teas, complimentary fudge) are what makes your stay. And the breakfast is one of the best I've had in any hotel anywhere.
Cons: The food in the Mayflower restaurant is a bit average for the cost. Also not much to choose from. I understand it's a brasserie, but some people might not be able to stretch to the very expensive restaurant, and it would be nice to have a slightly more interesting offering that is at as high standard as the rest of the place.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Few areas need touching up e.g tiles in jacuzzi
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All of it !

Pros: It was walking distance to the hoe and Barbican and also close to the town meaning we could walk most of the time. Shower was really powerful and the staff went out of there way to help. 9.5 Excellent
Pros: Food and service were excellent as was the views and tranquillity exactly what we were looking for as a one night break away somewhere peaceful, remote and relaxing. The décor with large black and white pictures with lots of interesting pottery for sale that had been thrown on site. The only thing that stopped it being excellent in all respects was the poor T V signal, although the rest as mentioned more than made up for it.
Cons: Very poor intermittent T V signal.

Pros: In the midst of the Moors. The food was amazing. Best dinner we had in our three weeks in England. Staff were so helpful and friendly.
Cons: King room does not have a king size bed.

4.3 Okay
Pros: Nothing, we had to climb to the 5th floor... no lifts.
Cons: The shower was almost on top of the toilet. This tiniest of bathrooms we had to share with other guests on the floor. We were not informed as to the meaning of a "regular" room when booking, that it meant sharing a toilet and that shower. The shower in fact did not work, so nobody had a shower.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Impeccable hosts who went above and beyond during our stay. Amazing breakfast served to our room Beautiful plot of land Llamas!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Having read comments from previous guests, our expectations were quite high but I have to say that it was even better than expected! The private terrace is lovely, the room is big, cosy and nice. And you really feel like in family, thanks to Julia, Richard and Helen’s extremely warm welcome. The alpacas are charming as well, and the black one (Inca) likes to say hello to visitors!
Cons: Nothing negative. But just a remark: if you are an unexperienced driver in tiny roads, I would recommend arriving from the South road (from Golberdon), as the North road is really tiny.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helen. Richard and Julia, were very welcoming and friendly. The service they provided during our stay was excellent, They couldn't have done anymore to make our stay better, from breakfast (which was full English and very nice) to night they were obliging in every way. Thank you Jacqui and Phil.
Cons: not applicable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owners were so friendly, location was great and having such a good breakfast on the patio outdoors was just great
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the peaceful location, very quaint with gorgeous cottage gardens. breakfast was tasty and delightful especially as I ate it outside on the patio Nothing was too much trouble for the owners who are lovely and friendly. Even watched the alpacas being sheared.
Cons: Toilet downstairs
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Quaint little room sandwiched between 2 family houses. The family (Julia & Richard and their 2 children) are really friendly, as is Helen on the other side (Richard's mum). Being able to explore the farm and the maise maze, meet the chickens and ducks and feed the alpacas (Inca, Isambard & Emmet) was a lovely bonus. Quite out of the way but so peaceful and pretty. It rained every day for us but the terrace would be lovely in the sun. Breakfast made to order and delivered to your room - eggs from their chickens (or ducks) and local produce. Superb!
Cons: I kept forgetting to bend my head (room us in the gables) but my fault. Bathroom downstairs but basin in room was a bit annoying but we left anti-bactrial gel down there to solve it.
