its next door to the Royal! the rooms are nicely decroated! there is not enough seats in the bar area, we had to go back to our room with our drinks
The decor was fab and it was soooo clean. The bed was very comfy Not one thing
We were a group of 4 adults (2 with special needs - 1 wheelchair ) The staff were very helpfull however the lifts were very tight fitting for wheelchars and luggage. This i have to say is the only negative i can say about the hotel. The rooms are extremely comfortable, decor of hotel beautiful...restaurant and food..delicious and reasonable. The location is ideal especially if your intention is to go to a show in the Royal theatre which is right beside it. All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay, staff were extremely courteous and helpful, and i would have no hesitation in staying in the Harlequinn hotel or recommending it in the future. It is not very accessible for parking, we parked behind it in the Royal theatre parking and when we got in the staff told us that there was parking available somewhere else however it is very confusing and not very clear as to where this parking area is or how to get to it. That is the only thing i can say!!
The room wasent too warm and the bed was very comfy. Staff very nice
Hotel was new, shower was excellent. No bar of soap, only liquid soap.
every time we walked into the hotel it was wow, decor was beautiful, food good, liked there being afternoon menu, and for our short stay it was fine the traffic noise in the bedroom was a bit over powering
Great stay friendly staff ,great food ,pleasant surroundings, well appointed for both shopping and entertainment all in all a pleasant stay .
The indoor parking
The rooms are very clean, warm and comfortable. Location is excellent
The hotel was very centrally located and extremely comfortable. The only glich was that when I went to pay for the room (we were on a room only basis) I was also asked to pay for two breakfasts which we did not consume. The reception did a check but apparently some people had had breakfasts and charged them to my room.
Were allowed to check in early an duse the leisure facilities after check out time Receptionist seemed more interedted in having a conversation about her social life over the phone than assisting us.
Room was lovely. We paid €79 for the room which I think is good value. Breakfast wasn't included but we just paid extra for it. Modern surroundings. There were workmen quite visible. Breakfast wasn't especially nice (White pudding was very poor, no brown bread).
Terrific room, big bed, very clean, lovely furnishings.
Convenient , very clean , comfortable , food really good . None.
Reception staff & Breakfast staff really friendly and helpful. Staying 1 overnight to attend a wedding. Hotel easy to find, well signed posted
The fact that it was out of town. It was very quiet and peaceful and very relaxing. The bedspreads could be a bit more modern. They looked a bit dated.
We had a very spacious room with a great view. the tv was so far from the bed that the remote control didn't work but I guess this is a minor complaint! Also the breakfast was 13.50 which I think is over priced.
we booked breaffy house but were sent to the international sport hotel which is more like an institution then a hotel
Had an upgrade frome a family room to a lodge.Disadvantage was getting wet when going over to hotel, but worth it for the extra space. In the lodge there was a dangerous stip of metal sticking up from the floor.Kept chair over it as could have caused a nasty cut to someones foot.Breakfast on website said 7.50 euros we were charged 10.00 for the first night and 9.95 for the second.
Great location for the bosing weekend
Staff were friendly Initially said there was no room in main hotel but when we complained about accomadation offered suddenly a room was found for us
the evening meal in the main dining room. bar / lounge area is very small and narrow in comparson to the overall size of the hotel. breakfast not included in the price of overnight stay.
We enjoyed the Spa and pool facilities in the hotel. The food was good and the evening meal in the restaurant was good value. Overall the hotel staff were very welcoming and professional. Our family had no issues during our stay.
checking out no heating freezing cold, 150 children running wild
Clean, friendly and staff were brilliant.. I was there for a wedding and the food was magnificent... Breakfast trays left in the corridor for a good few hours..
Clean modern rooms and quite cheap Newly and only partially opened so few facilitities available - staff not very helpful or particularly skilled
the room service were rude and 1 hour and 30 mins early with breakfast. items request to room such as towel had to be request several times. other guess were incredible rude and noisey and staff didn't care
My main reason for staying at the hotel was to use the facilites of the leisure centre, in particular the pool. When I checked in on Sunday evening, I checked the opening and closing times of same. I was told the pool opened at 7am, so I went down at 745am on Monday morning to discover the pool wasn't open. Upon checkout I mentioned it to the staff, and the response was that the pool was open at 7am, with no further explanation. There was no apology forthcoming, so as you can imagine I was very disappointed with the staff and the experience in general. I was also very surprised that a hotel of this standard does not provide bar food, but instead a carvery at 830pm on a Sunday evening.
We were attending a show in the sports arena, and were staying in the Woods hotel (connected to the arena). It is ideal to be staying in the hotel while attending the show. The staff were lovely. The fact that the heating was on a timer, to turn on the heating we had to go out to the corridor and press a button on the wall which turned the heating on for 2 hours, this time of the year (the winter) it is really unacceptable to have to do this. Once the heater turned off the room cooled down very fast. Having to go to the main hotel for food inc breakfast. If there is an event on in the arena, the hotel is very noisy, we didn't get much sleep.
buetifull setting lodge was very run down needed major overhall
Clean room no facilities to eat within the hotel - had to walk through heavy rain to the nearby hotel in order to get breakfast.
Help received from staff excellent Noise from adjacent rooms quite loud but we were moved after complaint
That there was a fridge, sink & counter top in our room, ideal for people travelling with children. Confusion in the dining room for breakfast, outside of peak hours. Ordered a taxi from the 'taxi phone line' at reception which never showed up, had to take the car to get to a show we were going to in the TF theatre to avoid being late. They should review this taxi service or provide more than one taxi company's details.
Great location, plenty for kids to do The Room was freezing cold during the night time - heat would need to be on during night at tis time of year, esp for kids
Surroundings were lovely There could have been a clearer sign for the International hotel on Road leading from Castlebar. We were not given clear directions where the Sports hotel was when we arrived at the main hotel, perhaps you should be able to check in at the main hotel???
i enjoyed the spa, relaxed and chilled atmosphere
THe View from the room and as it was lower than the raod no noise from traffic and staff were very nice Bar area and eating area are all the one not great fan of this
Wonderful stay from check-in to check out. Welcoming, friendly staff, knowledgable about local sights. Superb bedroom and ensuite, with an amazing view and high standard of cleanliness. Food and wine were delicious but over-priced, which put us off eating in the restaurant on our 2nd night.
Very responsive to our requests for fixing several maintenace problems. Quiet, relaxing atmosphere, great food, both breakfast and dinner. Lower level rooms have great views of river, but have little privacy. Maintenance should be improved.
Nice room, Good Bed, Good Food, Good view from the room - would recommend it Only negative - there should be instructions on how to operate the Apple TV - Surround Sound!
The room was well laid out and spacious. The bathroom was excelent.Every staff member we encountered was plesent and efficent The prices on your web site were higher than we paid thru a third party booking agency.
The dinner was not great at any price; at €64 it was dreadful. The bar food was fine, as was the breakfast
Excellent accommodation; friendly, helpful staff; very comfortable and relaxing. The service at breakfast time did not match the otherwise excellent experience.
This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. From the moment you went through the door the staff make you feel like your the only one that matters. Restaurant and food was super. Room was very big and well laid out. Would definately recomment this hotel . Only complaint was that there were too many children at the hotel as it was Easter weekend. Don't think it's really a hotel suitable for children.
Staff very helpful and friendly. Beautiful surroundings, close to town and local amenities. Rooms lovely, food lovely, atmosphere lovely. I think that the leisure facilities are excellent, but they need to enforce the rules a bit more, and deal with noisy children etc.
FRom the moment we arrived we felt relaxed the hotel is cosy, like a home away from home. The staff can't do enough for you. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. The hotel bar was really lovely. The pool/jacuzzi was brilliant, we went early morning it was pure heaven to relax in the jacuzzi over looking the estate. We really fell in love with Mount Falcon! Only criticism is the restaurant/bistro is very expensive for very small portions, less frills and more good, reasonably priced food would make this hotel perfect.
Helpfulness and courtesy of the staff
Wow!! What a fantastic Hotel, this has to be a dream combo. Spa for the ladies and the best salmon fishing in Ireland within the grounds.
The hotel is quite beautiful. The wood and turf fire gives a fantastic warm and homely feel. The staff are friendly and professional. The rooms are excellent. A wonderful place to stay.
Wow factor when you pulled onto the estate, very ornate and posh. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms very nicely decorated. Our room was on the side of the building and there was no way to regulate the heat, the room was very hot and the windows only opened approximately 4 inches, never cooled down, so sleeping was a challenge. Get a corner room or go on a cold day.
I liked the spa facility, convenience to the local town and I enjoyed walking the beautiful grounds. I would like to high light the efficency of Gabreilla in the spa.
The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast meal was excellent. The location suited our requirements. Hotel Internet PC was out of order.
I liked the location for the purpose I was there. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the breakfast was great.
There was no staff in the hotel untill after 8.00 a.m.
friendly staff excellent food comfortable beds bathroom very cold
Eating and drinking with family
close to knock shrine
really friendly helpful staff door cards - had to get one re-programmed 3 times -real nuisance going up and down to the reception late at night. We booked via booking.com (months before our stay) and the hotel did not have any record of our booking when we arrived so it was fortunate there were spare rooms.
Allows pets.nice hotel and friendly.good food and spacious rooms n/A
Lovely location with a very nice bar area and extremely friendly and helpfull staff Smell of sewage if you park in the far away corner of car park (smell does not reach anyway near hotel)
The staff are very friendly and the breakfast was lovely. It could have done with some entertainment on the friday or saturday night. We would not have gone up the town if their had been more to keep us in the hotel.Beautifully decorated though. What a beautiful function room for a wedding. It was massive !Beautiful location for a wedding.
good location, relaxing environment It is becoming dated and showing signs of age except for front of house/foyer area
We liked the outside gardens and the bar/restaurant area was a very relaxed environment. It was a very old hotel. The swimming pool/leisure area was very detached from the hotel. You could hear through the walls. Also, the kids meals were very over priced.
Breakfast room staff were helpful Hotel was quite dingy and rundown looking
The Hotel was very welcoming. Staff were very friendly. The evening meal in the Brosna Restaurant was very good. Location was lovely with its gardens and proximity to the Brosna river/weir. No - although I felt that the viewing area/cafe overlooking the pool was somewhat dull and uninviting . It seemed that the Hotel needed some "freshening up" in places
Friendliness of staff
the service was good, food was of an average standard and reasonably priced. Bar prices were not extorionanite, nice surrondings. some of the decor was a little dated. No facilities for smokers.
The room was clean, and the hotel had immaculate gardens. The spa area is very dated and the jacuzzi smelt very bad. make sure you take your own swim hat and towel to avoid extra costs. The internet costs 1 euro per 8 min, which is a little steep. I felt the whole hotel experience was designed to extract more money from you. Also who ever decided that ironing board in cupboards were a good idea, have you tried using an ironing borad in a cupboard whilst ironing??? The hotel is very dated exept the reception area. You get what you pay for.
Facilities were good, with the pool and the leisure centre on site. No
Staff very helpful and pleasant. Leisurely walk into town. Bar and food a little expensive
Staff Service The heating wasn't on in all of the hotel so our room was very cold and it was the same sitting in the bar.
The cleanliness of the hotel was second to none.
Hotel was very easy to find and equipped with everything we needed during our short stay my friend's meal was undercooked
The receptionist (short blonde hair)was very nice and helpful considering she was also working in the bar. The kettle didnt work in our room but that wasnt a big deal! The phone is too far away from the bed also (room 100)
I really liked that the owner gave us two rooms in spite of the fact that Booking.com had not passed on the reservation. Not only gave us rooms, but gave us two upgraded rooms. I did not like that Booking.com had not passed on our reservation.
The location suited our needs. Every thing of the highest standered. Staff very pleasant ant helpful .Food exellcent . I would have pereffed a top sheet in use with the quilt but this is a personal thing with me also a bottle of water in the room for drinking.
staff, modern and well appointed room, food large red stain on carpet in room, the lift was in a poor state, damaged furniture in alcoves on the stair, made it look like a rough house.
clean comfortable room, nice new bathroom. bar / restaurant popular with the locals so a busy place, breakfast was very good. staff helpful. we stayed here as it was near to Knock airport for our flight, nothing really in Swineford, to our knowledge
It was conveniently located for an overnight stop en route to or from the airport. The town itself was a bit too quiet.
Comfortable, friendly. Carpark.
It's closeness to the Knock Shrine
Free parking, quiet rooms, good restaurant and good breakfast. Would have been nice to have had wifi in rooms and not just in public areas
Peaceful and quiet. Could have been nearer a larger town
There tended to be a lot of crumbs on the floor of the lounge in the reception area - people having food and leaving bits and pieces on the floor.
large clean comfortable room. bath aswell as shower no great atmosphere in hotel. very dim lighting in room. need a central bright light for reading
The staff at Knock House Hotel are very pleasant and the service is very good. The hotel is very convenient to Knock Shrine which was the purpose of my stay. Whilst Knock House is located ideally for access to the Shrine, it is also remains secluded and is great for privacy. There is a very genuine friendly atmosphere in the hotel and staff and guests really enjoy each others company. I would certainly recommend the hotel to travellers of all type, whether those on pilgrimage, those on a family break, or even those who just want to get away for a few quiet days.
The room was very spacious, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent I would stay in this hotel again, it was also great value for money.
The tv was faulty
All very satisfactory at the level the hotel was aiming at. Nice people. Breakfasts excellent Evening Meals / dinner only moderate
A lovely hotel in a quiet village and whilst we did have a slight problem with our shower paul the manager was very helpful in sorting everything out and even reduced our bill, the breakfast was superb.
The rooms where massive. Loads of TV channels. Great breakfast If parking out the back, you have to walk through the resteraunt with all your bags. Then you have the hike with them up 3 sets of stairs.
Very friendly staff. Lift to room. Good food. Good room. Lovely town. Maybe another towel rail for double rooms
Our welcome, the huge bedroom, the quality food and wine at reasonable prices. We stayed 2 days and were very impressed. I would have liked some entertainment in the bar, but that is not everyone's taste.
The hotel was nicely decorated and the rooms were large. Lack of parking ease.
Very relaxed times of breakfast and check out was not hurried, excelent carvery at lunch time as well as very good bar snacks
Quietness No tea or coffee in room,
Everything about this place was excellent, the staff, the room , the facilities and breakfast. Loved the casual nature of the place a home from home, example being able to make coffee and meals anytime you like in the kitchen. I for one will be back again but this time with my family as it is an ideal base for Croagh Patrick and Achill Island places of outstanding natural beauty and the free gym facilities next door were an added bonus to prepare you for or take off the inevitible pints of Guinness up town . Castlebar is a great place and Lough Lannagh is a pleasant 15mins walk from the town and finally and most importantly about 45mins drive from Knock Airport. Only gripe could do with signposting (Lough Lannagh Lodge) from approach roads to Castlebar especially the N5 from Knock Airport principal gateway to the West, Lough Lannagh village is signposted but no indication of the Lodge but that not really the hotel's issue but the one perhaps they could raise with officials at council level.
friendly staff, clean It is more like a hostel with private rooms than a hotel. The breakfast area really reminded me of a youth hostel and was very noisy with lots of families with small children
Hotel was clean. Staff were lovely to deal with.
Home away from home. No Shampoo in bathroom
This hotel was excellent value. The manager was on hand to cook my breakfast which is of very high quality.
Close to centre of town, excellent family facilities. Great Breakfast. Free Parking. Very pleasant staff.
Ease of access to facilities and closeness to town and local amenities.
good breakfast and hospitality of staff hard to locate. dirty bathroom, maintenance lacking
Proximity to town centre. Maid service excellent, towels changed every day beds made etc. Substantial breakfast provided to suit all tastes. TV Room was poor and uninviting.Nowhere to retreat except room. Tea/coffee making facilities should be available in each room.
