Convenience to airport and transfer service. Nice room. Good buffet breakfast. Unfortunately it wasn't explained anywhere that the transfer service operated from the airport to the hotel (by calling the hotel) as late as midnight, so we took a taxi unnecessarily.
very funky interior, close to airport, free transfer, good free wifi
the friendliness and help of the staff
As a solo woman traveller, I booked this hotel as it had stated to be within walking distance of the airport and also there was a shuttle bus from airport to take me to hotel. However I arrived at airport approx 9.30pm, no sign of shuttle bus! As it was dark and I didn't know the way to the hotel I got a taxi. It was a complete rip off! €11.95 for a 4 min drive!
The pool and spa was a very welcome addition. Very relaxing.
We arrived late (12 at night) and left after breakfast, so we did not have the chance to experience much of the facilities.
SHdeG provided an excellent shuttle service to the airport, the bus to Girona stopped outside the door , the reception service was efficient and friendly, the room comfortable and good value. We didn't use the restaurant or the Spa as it was an overnight stay .
Some of the staff was very helpful The air in the room was stale. the buffet was too expensive
The location is excellent: near of the Girona airport, with airport transfer service. The hotel is very confortable, with excellent facilities.
the peace and quiet, and the view the hill up from Girona and lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom, albeit there was tea/coffee in the reception area, also a hotel of this calibre should have breakfast included in the price.
1. the service at the lobby 2. the landscape seen from the hotel large terrace. 1. the door to the toilet room door did not closed all the way and was not lockable. 2. there is only one chair at the room.
Liked the design, comfort, view, breakfast staff, and free mini bar & lounge drinks & snacks Dinner at the hotel was over priced in relation to the quality and quantity of the food.
Hotel was clean and quiet, staff were pleasant and helpful, room and bed were comfortable, view was nice. Breakfast was good but expensive. Hotel is a good 15 minute walk from the old city centre and is set apon a steep hill so is only suitabe for the able bodied.
The excellent design. The soundproofing could be improved. We could hear the television from the next room
It is an amazing place to stay for the weekend, rooms are comfy, staff very attentive, wonderful views over the city. It is missing a fitness room and a covered secure garage.
We loved the hotel for the lovely terrace and bar area. It was so relaxing after a long day walking about, just to sit with a drink and admire the view Although the hotel was a bit of a hike up the hill, it was well worth it for the fantastic vistas. The only down side was the location, at the top of a steep hill. This would not put us off staying here again, as we just loved the hotel and the walk was worth it.
Good , clean design hotel. Nice view over Girona. In experienced staff at check-in desk. No internet access for a few hours due to technical problems.
Complimentary Mini Bar in Room and Reception, Clean and Modern Rooms. 5 star hotel should have some sort of leisure facility , Gym / Swimming Pool
good quality hotel at reasonable price
Extremely pleasant hotel, good and even stylish breakfast with a great variety, cool rooms, free wifi, even free parking available in streets around the hotel. Downtown Girona is at around 20 min. by foot, supermarket nearby. We definitively would stay there again whenever going to Girona.
The location of the hotel is within a short walk of the old town - very convenient.
it is very well placed for sightseeing in the city.
Good location. Quite near to both the city centre and station.
Convenient location. Close to centre of town and to train/bus terminal Shouting and noise from street at night.
Location was brilliant. Staff very friendly. Alterations were being done to the reception area whilst we stayed and we could see that it was going to look lovely. We did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the service or food. We would stay again. We would of liked a kettle in the room but this was not a huge problem for us.
location Probably wil choose another just for variety :)
Perfectly placed for the tourist district and old quarter of Gerona. Friendly staff who were happy to provide a map and directions.
Convenience for visting old town. Beds comfortable.Fridge in room.Clean and tidy. Corridors had dingy feel to them and needed the paintwork refreshing. Thin walls between the rooms although we were not bothered by any noise particularly.Tea and coffee making facilities would have been good.
Basic clean and what you pay for at present, perfect shower.very dated but okay for a short stay. Able to have dbl bed !!! unheard of in spanish hotels. needs a little soundproofing !!!!
Location was wonderful There was no bar for drinks or snacks.
excellent and helpful staff no
Stayed there for less than 24 hours, but it was close to the things that we whanted to see and comfortable.
very cosy but i would like the name of the tapas in english at the terrace
It was central and spacious with good facilities and helpful staff. Breakfast was particularly comprehensive and good quality. Our original room was too hot due to the non availability of aircon due to building work/improvements but we were readily offerred an alternative room on the cooler side of the hotel which we took up.
Everything was excellent Liked everything
Non chargable internet access
Hotel reception were quite good with their english. Breakfast was very expensive so we didn't take it up (so can't comment whether it's worth it) - we went to a cafe around the corner and had coffee and quite a nice ham roll for a less than a 5th of what we would've paid for the hotel breakfast.
We have stayed at the hotel before and always found it to be ideal for our needs and would recommend it to our friends, should the need arise we would stay there again.
Staff were polite and helpful. The quality of food was excellent. Room was clean and comfortable.Good parking arrangements. Because there were no other options in the area for eating, the Hotel has a captive audience, and the prices reflect this, both for foof and drinks, which is a shame. The food was excellent, but with no lower priced options, it makes staying there for the independent traveller very pricey, especially as this was not even in high season.
Excellent location. The hotel was extremely comfortable and the staff wellcoming and helpful.
Good Service No
The breakfast was great The connexion of the showerhead was lame,.
hotel staff attention to client
Having free internet. Helpful staff. Rooms were clean and tidy. Bus into Girona only a few minutes walk and cheap. The gym is very poor with only an old sit on bike - needs replaced. Suggest adding a cross trainer or tread machine.
food left out for buffet no refrigeration or covers
Friendly and efficient staff It won't happen regularly but when we were staying the elevator broke down (while my son was using it) There's only one elevator, so this was a bit if a set back. Checking out was hard work with luggage carrying through stairways.
the free parking.
Modern, spacious room with convenient location for exploring Girona. Very nice breakfast buffet. Dealt with three different desk clerks. The two men were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The third was a woman who seemed indifferent and not very interested in being helpful. Also, the staff seemed somewhat disorganized.
cleanliness, and breakfast none
very comfortable rooms, nice interior, hotel parking nearby, located in the center of the city, not far from main seesights.
lovely newly refurbished bedroom and bathroom
Not a lot it was nothing special and cost us £100 for just the room we would not stop there again It was not good value for money
Nice, spacious room with excellent bathroom. Superb breakfast. Friendly staff. The parking facility is not for the claustrophobic and people with large cars cannot use it. Also, the access has no ramp which is bad for the car.
Hotel Gran Ultonia was a very new modern & spacious hotel close to the old city attractions of Girona
Most comfortable hotel bed in world, great buffet breakfast Lobby area under reconstruction 16 hours a day, no satellite TV signal for foreign language stations except CNN, view from room blocked by close multi-storey car park
the hotel is redesigned ,rooms are well decorated, staff is helpfull, very good value for your money.excellent location.
The friendliness of the staff.
Very good location for Airport stop over - situated just off motorway about 15 minutes from airport. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.Car parking and breakfast included in price. Situated next to a new shopping complex. Local bus close by and only 1.25 euro to centre of Girona. This is an International chain of Hotels - The Girona Holiday Inn is very comfortable but lacks Spanish charm /gardens etc.
Access to the town was good, the local restaurants were handy and good quality. The rooms were quiet and clean. Yes, the bathroom basin plug was broken and there was no soap in the hand basin dispenser.
the friendliness and helpfulness of the check in staff
Reception nice and easygoing Bad parkingspot no light unattended bad for business do it better
The fact that we were offered the possibility of a basic breakfast in spite of our 05:00 departure from the hotel. The distance from the airport which added to the "cost" of the hotel.
-hotel nice and clean and staff was very nice far away from airport and barcelona
The staff were very pleasant and helpful and spoke English. The breakfast was good even if the buffet had a limited range and was the same every day.
Staff were very helpful and the hotel well located No meals other than breakfast
comfortable room, good service, easy to find
As we only stayed overnight the bed!
Air conditioner didn't work _ it took almost a hour to change the room
beds very comfortable. Staff very pleasant internet works well parking expensive
A great hotel, good staff and excellent facility. Well worth the money
room was clean and comfortable parking was limited / small, not all items in mini bar / toilet were refilled during my stay.
The hotel was relaxes and quiet. Some outside space to sit and have a snack or drink would have been appreciated.
The hotel is in an excellent location and has secure parking. When our car broke down the hotel were extremely helpful. Food served by room service was disappointing
The hotel as great - location, room, food, stuff The parking of the hotel is a bit compliacted and thus I used an outside parking
The town of Girona is beautiful and the hotel and the staff were friendly. the old town and historic area are well worth the visit and a must see. The hotel is located near the commercial part of the town and so you have to be prepared to walk for 15-20 mins to access the beautiful old town.
Ariel at Reception was the only team member that displayed exemplorary guest service skills. He was always very helpful and willing to offer information relating to the city etc. He is a credit to the company. Breakfast service - had to ask for coffee . Restaurant staff were more focused on clearing tables rather than serving clients. Description of breakfast in guest directory led us to believe that there would be a substantial choice, when infact was merely an adequate selection. Hence we only took breakfast once during our stay. Food was well cooked and presented, just not what we anticipated.
Very good room, very good breakfast, efficient check-in and check-out, good location of the hotel the garage spaces are very small
service, quality and friendliness no wireless access in rooms
Ciutat de Girona is perfectly placed in the city centre. Whether you want to go shopping, out to eat, or see the sights it's all an easy walk. The longest walk we had was to the bus & train station, but even they were only a 15 minute amble. Girona is beautiful and the Ciutat de Girona makes the stay a comfortable, easy and enjoyable one!
We were very friendly welcomed by the desk-manager and it set the tone of our stay : helpful and relaxed, yet efficiently managed. Room and bathroom were large and spotless. Even if our room was just across the elevator, there was no outside noise and we slept easily. The buffet breakfast was well stocked and available till 11 am, which is a bonus on holiday. We would definitely stay in this hotel again ! At night the restaurant Blanc served only a menu, the quality of the main course was rather average.
hospitality and comfort. Central to shopping .It was our 2nd stay at this hotel and will be back again next year. the breakfast was not good value for money but the evening meals are excellent.
The hotel was spotless. The breakfast excellent .The mini bar was a nice touch and welcome when we arrived. Staff were very helpful. Few english speaking channels on tv. World news silent and the volume very low on other english speaking channels.
Ideal location for exploring the old city The shower didn't drain away quick enough despite the hotel fixing it, and the modern trendy wash hand basin could have benifited from a proper plug. But hey, it's Spain and it's a modern, clean hotel.
The hotel is very nicely situated close to the historic city centre. The hotel offer you a neat and very nice room. We liked the stay a lot.
The staff was great and the location excellent. Everything was in line with my expectations.
excellent hotel in central position. Staff very hekpful.
Good location near city center Parking is a nightmare and staff was very unhelpful.
Warm courteous staff, cool vibe, great location
i really enjoyed my stay at the hotel.. it was very comfortable
Simple hotel, great value for money. Perfect for one night near the airport of Girona
It is near the airport, and value for money. Room was adequate. Airconditioning could only be set on heating, which in turn was too hot. No shower gel, and blood stains on curtains, made it a bit disgusting
Our room was always clean and tidy. Very basic services but had everything that was required for a budget hotel.
hotel location, parking availibility -----
It was near the shopping centre & the airport.
clean comfy room. lovely staff and very good value for money. not at all.
The room was great, like futuristic. The flat screen TV was good too. The bathroom was clean and neat, there was AC. A very nice hotel. Staff was helpful with helping us get a taxi at 4:15 in the morning! Just a little far from the city center, but buses run.
Good facilities, close to shopping mall with food outlets with discounts for hotel guests. Convenient for motorway but without traffic noise.
hotel staff assistance; breakfast; simple but comfortable room. internet services were quite expensive; address of hotel was not on GPS, was quite difficult to find it.
Room was very clean, staff were excellent and very well informed of the local area. We were given a double room, when we had booked a twin. However, it was no problem to change. The location of the hotel was not good, we had to walk along a stretch of dual carriageway to get to the local town. The room had no wardrobe, just 3 hangers on a hook.
Spartan, clean. Better for travellers with cars. Not so close to the centrum of the city.
Breakfast and free computer access. It is still expensive for what it offers - for example there is no comfortable seat in the double bedroom just one small plastic stool - verey spartan.
Clean, excellent staff, good parking, good breakfast, good value for money Room a little too warm, ineffective air conditioning, poor quality food at the next door Ibis (same company)
Clean room, nice shower, free internet access in lobby. I arrived at 9pm and hungry, however there was no food available at the hotel (a group had booked the restaurant). The hotel location was also poor (difficult to get anywhere without a car) which meant I didn´t get any food until I checked out the next morning.
Clean, nice rooms, Very poor breakfast, hotel out of town, no day time snack bar
Clean, quiet, nice and helpful and informative staff, Shelves in the room and bathroom would be useful
It was relatively inexpensive, very clean and seemed quite a new Hotel. This Hotel is very much designed for the budget traveller, so don't have too high expectations. The breakfast at Eur3.90 was minimal. Although the breakfast was much cheaper than at other Hotels, I would not recommend the breakfast. No shampoo in the rooms (only soap). The Hotel seemed to be on the edge of town. It was a 33 minute walk to the Girona train station.
Cleanliness of the room and the hotel being practically new. It was way out of the centre of the city and very difficult to reach by foot, especially when going fully loaded with your luggage.
The cleanliness of the room, the location and the sympathy of the staff
Three things were excellent : the location, the pleasantness and friendliness of the staff and the breakfasts. My single room was poorly lit and did not have any natural daylight. Also the room was a bit spartan but what did I expect for 39 euros a night!
Simply, I like everything! N/A
My daughter and I were delighted with the size and cleanliness of the bathroom, with the large walk-in shower--quite an improvement over the typical budget 24-inch by 24-inch stall. The breakfast--a nice cheese-and-cold-cuts with rolls affair, with pastry options--was better than average for budget hotels. Coffee--espresso--was served to us by the kitchen staff. View from room (exterior) was pleasant (a hillside with attractive buildings) and there was no bothersome noise in November from the street. The twin beds, while adequate, were no better in comfort than the typical budget hotel's. For whatever reason, we slept fitfully. The hotel's location, while about a quarter mile from the walled city, hadn't much charm in itself.
Clean, central and friendly. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff who speak some English and are keen to help. Comfortable bed. Great shower. Some noise late at night from corridor.
Spacious room and bathroom. Good shower Mirror in the bedroom would be useful.
Nicely refurbished, clean and well-decorated, particularly the bathroom. Breakfast was of a good standard and choice. Would have liked individual toiletry items in the bathroom. Some street/traffic noise in the morning from our room.
central position did not like first room we booked small 3 bedroom
It was close to everything The walls are very thin and you can hear everything!!!
The room was great and the location perfect
It is central
Being close to the shops & resturants. Feeling safe.
The ideal location - close to the old town and the shopping area. Station is an easy walk away for trips to Barcelona or Figeuras. Helpful and friendly staff.
good central location and friendly and helpful staff
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were vert clean.
Excellent central location, excellent shopping, close to train and bus station for easy access to Barcelona and the Costa Brava. Staff were extremely helpful. Nothing
the location is perfect, rooms are clean and cosy, everything looks new the walls between rooms are very thin, you can hear everything that happens in the next room 20 euros per day for the safety box is too much
Access to the old town and cafes and restaurants The peninsular uses combined air con and heating whicj is noisy. The batroom was cold
Nothing to rave about, nothing to complain about either - for 38€ I feel I got exactly what I paid for.
The position of hotel was good in the centre of Girona. Staff were very helpful and breakfast (continental) was perfectly adequate. The decor is a little tired very tired in places, although it looks as if they are gradually improving this. Saying this the rooms and facilities were clean.
Hotel is new and is furnished is a very clean and modern fashion. Room was very quiet - which says a lot about they sound-proofing they installed, as the street is fairly noisey. We ate breakfast in their dining room (a small buffet), and it turned out to be very nice - including excellent cafe con leche. Hotel isn't in a great neighborhood but is actually very convenient to both the highway and downtown Girona (about 4 KM straight down the road).
Comfortable room, good bed and bathroom, and excellent airco.Perfect sound isolation.
Excellent location to explore Girona and the Costa Brava (better if you have a car though). Room and furniture are very clean, new and in great condition. Air condition, overall sound isolation and bed mattress quality are well above standard. A real pleasure to sleep there! The breakfast also deserves a recommendation: For 10.70€ you get a rich choice of fresh breads, rolls, Kellogg's, different Nespresso pads, nice loose tea. And: The overall price is very competitive. Thanks to the friendly staff for the nice stay!
very nice and friendly hotel. girona is a fantastic place and this hotel does it admirable justice. admittedly, it would have been nicer if the hotel was a little closer to the city centre but its not really that far away - a 30 minute walk in pleasant sunshine. on the whole, i liked it and i'd happily stay there again.
very very nice service from all staff
The hotel is associated with a neighbour restaurant where we had the menu of the day... This meal was really not good and a big disappointment.
Ella, best of all because she spoke English and was always helpful with a smile. Inconvenient to the city without a car. Buses OK but not great if you don't speak the language
Very kindly staff, good service. Very god and varing breakfast. The towels were not good for wiping after the shower.
location, decor...cold beer breakfast
Very good location for visiting Dali museums, easy access off main roads and good (free) parking by Reception. Couple of close basic food shops and decent size playground almost opposite. Good double glazing made for quiet rooms. Free WIFI. Location is in industrial part -not much to see or do immediately around, but good for stop-over if passing through.
The setting was very nice, it´s a michellin starred menu its a little out of town.
The countryside ambience
This country oasis was perfect after our active eight days in urban Barcelona and Girona. Mas Pau is situated off a main road on large grounds set amidst small communities and towns. But that was ok with us because we used Mas Pau as a base camp for our explorations to Olot, Besalu, Figueres, Cadaques, St. Pere de Rodes. We ate breakfast every morning and enjoyed a wonderful tasting menu for dinner on the first night we arrived. The service was impeccable. Our room was situated in the tower and although you do see a neighbourhood beyond the fields, you also see hills/mountains, big sky and great sunsets. The grounds are beautifully maintained and if there had been a hot day, we would have stayed by the pool and listened to the birds. This is not a complaint but a warning that you do need a car to access Mas Pau and explore the scenic area.
- Amazing food, beautiful setting, very comfortable rooms, staff is very (!) friendly, beautiful gardens, great little pool (it was too cold to swim), fabulous for a long weekend and close to Figueres (Dahli Museum)
Surroundings on site
Food portions too small even for 'Nouveau cusine'
The beautiful gardens, friendly staff and serene setting. Dinner at the restaurant was michelin star quality. There was no coffee making facility in the rooms and our beds was two single beds and not matrimonial.
Mas Pau is a beautifully renovated spanish farmhouse which is primarily known for its upmarket restaurant. The location and rooms were excellent, the pool (I think) was heated although small. This is a very small, personal hotel, there were very few people staying there when we were there. It was not clear before booking that the restaurant is closed on a Monday night, although they did email us after we had booked to tell us. It was a real shame as we had booked because of the recommendations for the restaurant.
Loved the peacefulness and lovely gardens and pool. Beautifull building, even better on the inside. Breakfast on the covered terrace was fantastic. Bring your cheque book for dinner! All in all a beautiful place to stay. Bedroom great for style and comfort.
The room and bathroom are quit big size and comftable with the most technology. After 11pm no receptionest or security???
Comfortable, spacious room with high quality, modern fixtures and fittings. Friendly, helpful staff. Central location.
Location is excellent. Nice staff. Room design is aggressively modern - white walls with glass accents, rosewood built-in furnishings. Bathroom contains zingy, high-style fixtures but this is separated from main room by a sandblasted glass enclosure. This means that the sounds, and at night the light, of another person using the bathroom are very present. We decided that the place would be ideal for a young couple having a dirty weekend (hotel conveniently provides a booklet of "tantric sex for dummies" plus advertises a "sensuality pack" for sale), but it's less than ideal for travellers and tourists.
Located in heart of historic centre, perfect location. Excellent, young, multi-lingual and very helpful staff. Remote control for lighting in bedroom and bathroom was not easy to understand as instructions in Catalan! Being city centre a little noisy at times.
Its central position, the friendliness of the staff, particularly on reception. The efficient self service breakfast, best experienced anywhere. Cleanliness of rooms and communal areas. Lovely en suite bathroom. The bedroom was ultra modern and stylish which we liked but the control switches to operate lighting etc were quite challenging. Given the water shortages in this area during the summer I had reservations about the unconventional wash basin. There was no facility for capturing the running water in the basin (ie no plug) and therefore the water just drained away which I felt to be very wasteful.
What a nice butique hotel - make sure that you have the only room with a whirlpool bath :)
The location of the hotel and the considerate and competent way I was treated by the two young women who meet the public. They could also tell you, by telephone how to get to the hotel without getting lost. (June 2009).
Excellent reconstruction of well sited building in historic setting in old town into an upmarket stylish contemporary small hotel legends
very pleasant staff and locals. beautiful relaxing atmosphere. perfect position near cathedral and old town light switches a little confusing - would have liked kettle in own room and breakfast facilities on last day as had to leave by 7;15. lack of space for clothes. not keen on there being little privacy in bath room/toilet
The hotel was very central to the old town and its shopping facitilties. It was very modern and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The electronic system in the rooms were quite difficult to get to grips with. We kept opening the curtains instead of turningthe lights on!!!
