8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were super friendly and accommodating. They can set you up with everything you need while in El Salvador.
Cons: Having a room close to the kitchen meant hearing and smelling all that was happening in the kitchen - and sadly not all guests understand how to be quiet, nor how to cook.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Carlos and his staff really know how to run a hotel / hostel. This is the best hostel and one of the best hotels we've stayed in. The location is excellent; clean and safe. The attention you get from Carlos and his staff i've NEVER experienced before (and we've traveled all over the world).
Cons: nothing... this place is the best
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What can I say? It was perfect. You have to see for yourself. I initially thought, ok it’s got great reviews but I’m not too bothered about any place because I’m only going to stay for two nights and jet. But nooow I understand :) It’s just all made with love, and the appreciation of creating a comfortable safe zone for backpackers. The kitchen is great, the couches to watch dvds and Netflix on are so comfy. I could go on. Trust me, you’ll just feel good you decided to book here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely beyond expectations Thank you

Casa Blanca Tu Casa - Santa Ana - Building
2
9.5 Excellent (195 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Casa Blanca Tu Casa in Santa Ana, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Tazumal and Museum of Human Anatomy. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place to stay. More like a home-stay/B&B than a hostel, but I mean that in the best way. Owned by two lovely sisters, one who is an english teacher, so no problems at all with communication. We had a large double room with one of the most comfortable beds of our entire trip. They made a lovely traditional breakfast each morning, and went out of their way to help us - recommending places to go, buses to catch, and even driving us to the bus station twice. Couldn’t recommend highly enough if you are looking for something other than a hostel.
Cons: The only minor inconvenience is that is is located a little way from the centre - about 15 minutes to walk and 20-25 minutes to the bus stop. Definitely not a major issue though.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything at Casa Blanca Tu Casa. I enjoyed my stay at mrs. Amy’s house, they made me feel comfortable. Delicious breakfast, clean bedding and bathroom. Thank you for the tips to get around.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved our stay here. After 15 months of travelling around the globe, this was one of our favourite places. Amy was the kindest host - anything we needed help with she was right there to assist. The breakfast was delicious. The rooms and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The bed was very very comfortable. The location is in a nice quiet neighbourhood, maybe 15 - 20min walk to the CBD or you can take one of the many many buses that go past just a block or two away. There is an awesome pupuseria 5-10 min walk away - La Ceiba. Wifi is great and reliable. If you're looking for a party hostel, (or even any hostel really) then this isn't it, but this is better, this a warm, friendly and comforting homestay with a real personal touch to it. Hope to be back one day!
Cons: Nada. We loved it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tasty brekkie, clean, cosy, balcony to hang out, second lounge to lounge about, great conversations to be had with Amy. 20 minutes walk into the city, but there’s a bus stop 3 blocks away from the house to get to the lake, volcan Santa Ana, and also to the city! 500m from pupuseria La Ceiba and many popular food stalls
Cons: Nothing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff are super helpful and friendly, even willing to give us a lift. Breakfast was really good and wholesome. Bed was very comfortable and both bedroom and bathroom were very clean.
Cons: Room was a little bit cluttered, location is quite far from the centre
9.3 Excellent
Pros: - it's a bit far from the centre, but still within walking distance (and you can see some local life on the way), - the hostel is run by a friendly and very helpful family, the owner took me to bus terminals when I needed transport for my trips, - the private room was spacious and comfortable, - good and tasty breakfast,
Cons: - using the private toilet outside the room wasn't quite comfortable, but it's nothing to complain about, - it was a little bit hot in the room,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing stay!! The hospitality we received was amazing! The ladies running the place were super helpful, spoke English. We had a delicious breakfast included. On our last day we had to leave at 6AM and they packed us breakfast to go and drove us to the bus stop (twice during our stay). The room was big, clean, and comfortable. Location was great, food nearby. Highly recommend staying here! Wish we had more time to spend there.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are really nicely decorated. This really stood out compared to other guesthouses that we visited. The owner was really friendly and she was able to give our information about the bus to the Santa Ana Vulcano. There is a free water tap which has cold water. Really liked our stay here.
Cons: The kitchen did not have a normal sink that we are used to. But it isn't too big of a problem.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Basic breakfast eggs, beans, plantain and bread ,very home like environment and the price per night it's the cheapest in all of el salvador WOW.AS OF 7/19 I paid about 19 dollars for 3 nights.
Cons: There's nothing to complain I think your getting more than what you paying.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was a pleasure to stay in there. The breakfast was amazing (they prepared something vegan for me) and I got a lot of tips to do in and around Santa Ana. They even dropped me off at the bus station. Rarely had such a hospitality

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice clean and friendly recommended for all
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was a home from home. Luis and his family are exceptional hosts, attentive and knowledgeable. Will help you make the most of your stay in Santa Ana and surrounding areas
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Tasty breakfasts included. Also have use of kitchen. The owner seems genuinely interested in the welfare of his guests. He was super helpful in providing useful and money saving tips on what to see, where to eat, transport options, etc. Very impressed. I would stay here again if I were to return to Santa Ana.
Cons: On arrival the place looked a bit cluttered and some of the walls are in need of painting. You soon get used to this once you have settled in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We've been treated like family. Luis and Jenny made sure we felt at home. We ended up staying for about 10 days and they made a different breakfast every day! There are options to get a room with AC. Highly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Luis and his family are wonderful hosts! Everything is tidy and clean and the breakfast is fantastic and changes each day. Luis gave us excellent advice on how to get to and from everything we wanted to see using the local busses. His advice was spot on for the volcano hike as well. Great nearby food recommendations also - pupusas are amazing! We felt so welcome and can’t recommend highly enough.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Louis and his family so helpful in providing assistance and information regarding transport, sightseeing.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Luis is really helpful. The best host I’ve ever seen. Nice location that the bus would drop you off there.
Cons: The room was super tiny and without fan... (the one of the light doesn’t really work). The breakfast was simple.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner is so friendly. He helped us with our questions and had a nice personality. Also the kitchen is the best that we have used. Everything is available which makes cooking easy. Also the breakfast was nice. Although the WiFi was slow I would still highly recommend this place. It has a perfect little garden with a hammock. Nice to relax after a day on the vulcano. Nice bonus was that the shower was kinda warm. This was perfect since it has been quite a long time for us that we had a good shower.
Cons: The WiFi was really slow
7.0 Good
Pros: Very comfortable beds with new mattresses. Morning coffee/breakfast sufficient. Room a little stuffy (fan only) but certainly not uncomfortable. The owner, and Jennifer, were very helpful with information for how to get the most out of your stay in Santa Ana - including info for fulfilling very specific requests. The owner got a vehicle and took four guests from our place, and couple from another hostel, out for the day with the hike up Volcan Santa Ana and dinner later on the lake below.
Cons: Room is very basic; please consider putting the hooks wall attachment in the room for clothes - like in the bathroom for towels. WiFi not the best. For as helpful as the owner was, it also bordered on trying to 'micro-manage' guests, or as another put it - "in your face" - with ongoing chat, knocking on doors, questioning/directing guests through windows or when trying to sit in public courtyard areas. Also, make sure you have received the specific e-mail for how to get here from the bus station. I did not, despite owner's insistence arguing I did, and the booking.com map was not loading. There are actually buses from within the market area that pass by the hostel or it's a 15-minute walk if you know where you're actually going - unlike the 1.5 hours I spent wandering around the downtown area.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hot shower in our room. Luis and his family were all so friendly, helpful, engaging but also just let us sit around and chill while they did their own things, it was perfect. He helped us with a trip to Santa Ana volcano just by explaining buses and giving tips, got us a taxi the day we left, English speaking was so good. The location was excellent, we did many walks to the centro and felt quite safe in the area. We got our washing done for a reasonable price. Breakfast was great. We just really felt like some friends invited to stay because we were so welcomed but allowed to just help ourselves.
Cons: The room could get a bit warm but we were happy to sleep with the door open as there was a mosquito mesh covering the doorway

Pros: Pool house is very like a home. Adri makes you feel like it is your home. She is incredibly sweet and always goes up and beyond to help and support al her guests. She tries to make sure her guests are always taken care of and tries to provide the most economical way to get the best out of your trip in Santa Ana. I would love to stay here again for my next visit to Santa Ana!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great place with awesome, very helpfull and funny host and staff! We could drop our bags at 6 am in the morning already, an we were even brought to the bus stop for the Santa Ana Volcano hike for free at 6.30 am (by car)! The pool was much bigger than the pictures suggested... and we had a lot of fun with our hosts! When we had to leave, we were brought to the Tica-bus stop by car for free, too... It was so helpful! We really look forward to come back! :)
Cons: Everything was nice! :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Communication was great
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is an amazing place. The owner Adriana makes you feel like you stay in your own house. I totally felt this way during my stay. Very nice pool, amazing Netflix service, very convenient kitchen and as I said before amazing owner Adriana and her lovely friends and colleagues make this place so unique
Cons: Nothing
4.3 Okay
Pros: staff was nice, they should make some types of discounts in cases like this
Cons: totally overpriced, its call pool house but the pool was never available, and actually i choose this property over another one cheaper just for the pool, i never saw one so dirty, they tried to clean it only by quimicals, quite funy
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Super nice hostel. Feels like being home.. Adria is very nice and helps you with everything..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Adriana was so kind and helpful. We made a group carne asada with everyone in the hostel. The tour to Volcan Santa Ana was wonderful. I will definitely recommend it this place in the future and hopefully I will be back!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I felt like I was staying at a friend’s house. The minute I arrived I felt comfortable and at home. The owner Adriana is the most lovely host! She helped me rent a car easily, get around to many places and get directions to hike the volcano. We also had the most wonderful pupusas I have ever eaten. The place is really nice and there is amazing free coffee in the morning!!! If you’re in Santa Ana, this is the place to stay!!
5.8 Okay
Cons: It has a relaxed vibe to it, and the staff was helpful as much as they could, however the pool was completely green and impossible to use when we got there, which was the whole reason why we booked this hostel to begin with. The staff did say they would clean it, which they partly did, but no one wants to get in a pool like that afterwards. Location is also not the best. I’m sorry to have to give this review, but I cannot recommend this hostel in a good conscience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best Hostel I stayed in for a long time! The Host is incredibly helpful and always there for recommendations or just a nice chat. The Kitchen, chill out areas and pool area is made with so much love. I would definitely recommend staying there!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hostel on the water. Looks like it would be awesome during peak season. Staff were very welcoming and firendly.
Cons: It was quiet when I was there because of the low season but was nice and relaxed.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming staff at this beautiful location. A nice place to chill out, have some drinks and do water activities. Good selection of beer.
Cons: Food portions were a bit small, but decent. No shops around, so buy your snacks before arriving.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very helpful. They were able to help me figure out which chicken buses to take to get to my next destination and even found a friend with a truck to drive us about 20 minutes to the bus stop, which saved us time and a little bit of money! The private room was comfortable and so was the bed. The views of the lake from the hammock were beautiful and having a beverage while swinging in the hammock was very relaxing.
Cons: The owner had told us upon arrival on Friday that they would be working until 4pm (we arrived at 2pm)so we would be hearing a lot of sanding and sawing, which was fine because they would be finished for the weekend after 4pm. However, they began again working on Saturday morning, which was a bit disturbing. They only had one guy working all evening, bartending, cooking, cleaning, etc. Which seemed like a lot of work for one person. The sheets were way too small for the bed in the private room and slid off the mattress all night. Luckily, I had read previous reviews which advised to bring your own food to cook, which we did. This allowed us to splurge a little bit on beers. But a friend did not and ended up paying for overpriced, below average food. Overall, the stay was nice. I wish that we could have enjoyed our Saturday morning a little bit longer before taking off, but because of the sounds from the work they were doing, we decided to leave early. I expect that it will be a great hostel in a couple of years.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: What a cool place. Eduardo is one of the most friendly and attentive hosts. The fact that it’s on the lake and that one can jump from the common area into the lake is really special. We didn’t try food there because it seemed like he was always staying busy with different tasks, but a recommended pupuseria close by and another restaurant made it okay. We did though take advantage of the cheap beer sold there and nice bar area on the lake. Grateful to have stayed here for two nights and taken a day trip to Santa Ana instead of the alternative.
Cons: Construction on the property and surrounding lakefront properties created some loud mornings and afternoons. Wifi was also spotty at times since it’s just his hotspot, which was okay for disconnecting by the lake but challenging to research future travel plans.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The manager was super-helpful and patient with my Spanish. The lake is absolutely stunning. The bar area is relaxing and they have a nice variety of tasty beverages.
Cons: There isn't much space there, so the private rooms are either under a common area or right next to another common area. The manager was by himself most of the time, so while his service was impressive, he had to answer the door and phone, deal with clients, cook meals, serve drinks, unlock the kayak, and clean the facilities by himself.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The view was amazing
Cons: It was one of the worst hostel we went in central America ! Only one bathroom for all the hostel so you have to Wait everytime you have to go ! There's only one guy thats Working there, so youll Wait a very long Time when you order food ! Also they put a family with us in the dorms even if they were no place, they were two by bed and children's started screaming at 5 in the morning ! There is a beautiful view but it was under construction si workers' were making so Much noise that we couldnt relax at all !
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice and quiet, kitchen was great, platform to jump off into lake, free kayaks and bicycles to use, cheapish beers to enjoy
Cons: There's always dirty dishes in the sink, fridge could be cleaner, really strong smelling detergent being used to clean the room, contruction going on when we were there

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The first room offered though clean and comfortable had no window so we requested one with a window. After discussion with the owner the receptionist offered us a free upgrade to a room with a window. The room was spotlessly clean with comfortable beds, hot powerful shower and excellent silent air conditioner. The TV had several channels in English. Outside the room there was a calm sitting area where we ate breakfast and dinner which we'd prepared in the fully equipped clean kitchen. The owner was kind enough to take us to the bus station on the morning of our volcano trip. Both owners and staff were friendly and helpful and the young receptionist was able to speak to us in English which as my Spanish is basic was a help. We felt very safe.
Cons: Nothing.
9.5 Excellent

5.5 Okay
Pros: The price and the outside was nice and quiet.
Cons: Not clean and never got my room cleaned or bed sheets changed. I left the room open for them and no one ever bothered to go over to check and clean it.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: What I did like the most was the great service we received from Mario, we had a very last minute change on our reservation and he made our request possible, also, we checked in very late and he provide us every single thing we requested. I was traveling with my eldercy parents and they have some special needs and Mario take care of these. Also our room even though was small, it had everthing we needed. TV screen was big enough, wifi was fast, attached bathroom was bigger than expected. Overall the room was very clean. Our breakfast was delicious, it was served hot and it had a great amount of food. Coffee was delicious. The security guy was nice too, he was very attentive with my parents. Property has a large parking lot, if you're traveling riding a car.
Cons: Coffee cup was too small, a bigger cup would be better to taste that delicious served coffee ;)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very dedicated. They help us with the bus and organized a tour to the Volcan Santa Ana. Good breakfast.
Cons: The location was a little bit outside.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff nice...the place was cozy...
Cons: Area just a bit scary at night...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just Fine
Cons: Just that they fix the shower handle in the Picaso room
7.5 Good
Pros: Freindly staff. Helped out right away with out me having to wait long.
Cons: All the outside light were out at 9pm, i was a bit disappointed about that because i wanted to use the pool.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location and the attention from the staff
Cons: Some features were not working No mirror and no power outlet in the restroom
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The only great part about the place was the waiters
Cons: The facility is made out to be something that it’s not. The owners had an event take place Saturday which took up all the upper deck terrace in which the pool is located so we were forced to stay in our rooms or the small terrace located in front of every room. The owners then explained that although you pay to be able to use all the facilities it claims to provide that it does not mean that we are guaranteed to use those facilities such as the pool or the bar located by the pool. We were forced to look for the waiters to be able to order anything (they are very limited as to what they have. They make themselves out to be something that they aren’t). The rooms had mold on the walls and a few bugs were seen too. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a nice vacation. I’d recommend paying a bit more for something a lot nicer (to be sincere I think we paid more than what we should have due to the fact that we couldn’t even take advantage of the money we spent there.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: The pool and food
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very warm and friendly. They helped us get to the hotel when we were stranded and they made us food at night. The beds were the most comfortable we had in El Salvador. They have a nice pool and outdoor area.
Cons: There was nothing walking distance from the hotel. We had nowhere to go at night.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good and friendly Services!!!!
Cons: Wifi is so POOR!!!!!!
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: They didn't have the key for my room and the receptionist refused to give me another room. He told me to go back later for the key. Turned out he still didn't have the key and gave me the copy of the housekeeping person. I told him I didn't feel comfortable with such arrangement. He offered no solution. The room was expensive for the service. Would not recommend it.
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff doesn't speak English, however one of the was nice enough to escort us to the bus station across town. Great guy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The terrace
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff at this hotel is extraordinary
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm water and good water pressure, Big and clean room, comfortable bed, guarded parking space
Cons: No Wifi connection in the room, hotel is a little spooky (reminds of a place in a horror movie like shining), breakfast was supposed to be until ten - however we received a call at 9 saying we had to go down if we still wanted breakfast
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, particularly the gentleman who served us breakfast, which was very good as well
Cons: In need of some refurbishment but still Ok
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent cooked to order breakfast, strong wifi, comfortable beds, HBO in English, working A/C.
Cons: Shower head wasn't the greatest. English speaking staff were not available, however this is to be expected in El Salvador, so I would suggest that we all learn a little Spanish.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great historic building, fantastic views from the rooftop patios, comfortable and clean rooms, and breakfast included. They were even able to accommodate our daughter last minute.
Cons: It has a dated feeling that might not be for everyone

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was very clean despite the construction. The staff always offered assistance and were extremely professional. Thank you so much!
Cons: There were only 2 towels for three people. The breakfast left a lot to be desired, the only food items offered were toast, jams, 1 cereal. With a country that is as luscious as El Salvador with great morning flavors, I found it dissatisfying to have to venture to a local restaurant to have a fulfilling meal.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Juan Carlos, the owner, was sensational and organised food delivery for me on NYE and gave me a free walking tour of Santa Ana! Even the other properties he owns which he offered look great. The location is absolutely perfect and such good value for money!
Cons: The shower could do with some hot water :) I understand that El Salvador is a hot country but I do miss it :)
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff was very kind and professional
Cons: They didn't have the rooms ready at check in time
5.8 Okay
Pros: The staff was very friendly. Big TV in the room, with many channels, although we were not there for that. Safe small parking space two blocks away. Private bathroom, outside the bedroom.
Cons: The hotel was not worth the price (USD30): the room was very poorly lit, the floor wasn't clean (dead insects), there was only bottom sheets and a bed cover, and not hot water in the shower. We didn't notice initially, but the checkout time is 7am to 8am, because the hotel is used during day (sex hotel). They let us stay until 11am with no discussion, though.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Excellent WiFi. Once inside, it felt quite secure, as there was a guy on reception around the clock. Large bathroom.
Cons: The first thing that I have to say is that this is the kind of hotel where there are three rates, one of which is "pay by the hour". I'll let you draw your own conclusions. Added to this, there were warnings in the bedroom and at reception informing prospective guests that bringing underage girls to the room is illegal. The place had quite a seedy undertone to it. The guy at reception was not very pleasant. We didn't have a proper window in our bedroom, rather there were open plastic blinds instead, so it was very loud outside. Lighting in the room was terrible, but maybe that's for the reasons laid about above. While the hotel was very central, it was two very quiet street streets away and the walk home at night was not very enjoyable. We booked the "deluxe room" and I'm not sure what was deluxe about it. It was very expensive ($30 for a full night... not a half night or an hour!) and we were glad to leave. We were disappointed by Santa Ana overall. If coming here, I'd recommend getting here in daylight hours and then viewing a few places before booking, as most options are not available online. I'd also highly recommend the restaurant "Expression Culture" for breakfast, the owner was lovely and we were sorry not to be able to get there a second time.

Pros: There were 4 of us American ladies sharing a room. We didn't expect it to be as modern as America, but liked the simplicity. Our purpose in El Salvador was to attend a wedding, so we mainly used the hotel for an overnight place. Every morning we ate our breakfast at a little comedor just down the street on the same block as the hotel. I was surprised at the gracious, personalized hospitality offered to us by the hotel staff and the folks who cooked our breakfast every morning! One evening the gentleman even had delicious home-baked brownies and fresh coffee waiting for us when we arrived at the hotel! Also when they realized there were 4 ladies using 3 beds (2 double beds and 1 single) they made quite a fuss and quickly brought in a separate cot for the 4th lady! Another feature we really wanted was private, gated parking --which they had. The air cond. was cold, and the shower was warm ...after you learned how to use it. The wider the flow, the cooler the shower. Reduce the flow and it will be nice and warm. As for cleanliness, every bed was freshly and completely changed every day. The pillows were pretty flat but the mattress itself was reasonably comfortable. We had expected this. We also expected that no washcloths would be provided, which was also the case. But there were fresh towels and soap provided every day.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff as so friendly and helpful Good size rooms for single occupancy and good value Used by locals not just travellers
Cons: It was a little bit further out from town but we made it work
7.5 Good
Pros: large room
Cons: Street noise was pretty bad, and A/C unit was also noisy.
