10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely place run by lovely people. Lee and Marie are keen to make sure that guests have a good stay. The rooms were very clean and nicely presented, the bathrooms followed the same high standards. It was also a comfortable mattress and both my 6 month pregnant wife and I slept well. The breakfast the morning after the stay was freshly cooked and clean (not greasy). We were supposed to stay a 2nd night a week after the first, but something happened and we needed to prioritise taking care of the pregnant one. This B&B only offers refunds on the day of booking, even if you cancel a couple of days before. This is not a fault, and I cannot down rate them for it, after all they are running a business. My only recommendation, is that is you are going to want some food out for dinner, call the nearby restaurant “The Rag Country Inn” in advance, as you may struggle to get signal or space to get in on the day of arrival. All in all, this place is highly rated for a very good reason. The area is a quite one, but if you find yourself there, stay at The Lodge.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Bigger screen smart tv Kitchen and aminities Fridge in room
Cons: Toilet was bit smaller. Shower drain was blocked. On summer days I think it's a must to provide a table fan as it was so hot inside. Mattress could have been a better quality. Overall I think it's a good lodge well maintained.

5.0 Okay
Pros: It was clean and that's all I liked about it really
Cons: There was no slip mat for the shower and my 2 year old baby slipped over pretty bad I'm really not happy about this. The breakfast wasn't good at all. The milk was uht in a box. I at least expected fresh milk for £65 a night. It stated continental breakfast but it was pretty grim. Hardly any fresh juice or pastries. There were only apples for fruit and that was it. I wouldn't stay here again.
7.5 Good
Pros: Quiet and cosy
Cons: Off site parking. Was told it was free to 8am And when I got to my car at 755 was faced with nearly a ticket as it’s free to 730am Also the shower was blocked so the tray filled up whilst showering and drainage very very slow

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is a lovely stop-over for travellers. The staff were absolutely great and made the whole stay a pleasure. 6.3 Good
Pros: Good food. Friendly staff.
Cons: Rooms very noisy owing to paper thin walls.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I am an ‘expert’ on porridge and this was top notch! The poached eggs done to perfection(or just the way I like them anyway.
Cons: The mattress in room 2 was not as comfortable as the one in room 3 on my last visit.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was ideal, coffee great, room very comfortable and staff were lovely.
Cons: Nothing really.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a really lovely place to stay and our breakfast and evening meal were delicious.
6.3 Good
Cons: Went for a meal in the bar in the evening only to be told there was an hour wait!!! Went and got fish and chips and sat on a bench to eat them. That was nice. Breakfast was not much better. Scrambled eggs were dry. I cook them better. The room was next to another, and the occupants came home after 2.30 and commenced to be so noisy I had to knock on the door for them to be quiet. Not the pubs fault, but would not stay there again for all of the above reasons. Twice the price of Premier which was wonderful and quiet!!!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the staff ,great drink selection, super clean , nice breakfast with vegan options for dinner as well
Cons: The only thing are the curtains are so thin in the family room we were basically in full sunshine at 5am ,had it been lined or blackout Tue rooms would have been perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming staff who were great hosts throughout. Room (3) incredibly comfortable and spacious for the money. Evening meal had good variety/quality. The breakfast was plentiful and top quality. I had the best night sleep for a long time. Right next to the canel for lovely evening walk.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The apartment was large and clean with comfort beds and sofa area. Full kitchen provided so we could cook. Which I did as breakfast wasn’t included.
Cons: The fact it wasn’t clear that breakfast wasnt included because we were in an apartment Cost for 3 x breakfasts (1 adult and 2 kids) was very expensive Also given we were only there for two nights it would have been good to have tea and coffee available in the apartment
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and self contained.
Cons: Did not serve food - no advanced knowledge of this was provided.
7.0 Good
Pros: Whilst booked by my wife wanted b&b not available so booked apartment for 2 nights. When arrived after requesting before 5:30pm entry was told key would be in door. After 5 hr drive arrived 3:30pm no key, so knocked at pub doors with-no reply, young female finally answered so wife asked and we received key. Unpacked and wife went to toilet but light switch fell off and found flush broken so I repaired both. Apartment was clean and apart from mail piled on floor (with a name no one knew). Plus food and milk in fridge out of date. On reading welcome book on table to find no breakfast included as not in b& b accommodation. So made own arrangements with outside person as luckily we were visiting friends in area. Lovely pub as has drinks on there on first night with friends then out with friends rest of stay. But would not book again unless b&b available as we did not need apartment and only wanted to use as to be base for weekend visit as has good ratings
Cons: Public house and location see previous comments

7.0 Good
Pros: The breakfast is typically English... yummy bacon, sausages, hash brown etc... tiny rooms, no tubs in the bathroom, not bathroom accessories just hand wash and shower gel, has a flickering light for a couple of days before they turned up to fix it... The lifts took FOREVER
Cons: The cleaning lady did not change our sheets... we were there for 10 days.. she would not show up to clean some days...slow lifts, and the reception staff don’t seem to be very informed about things.. coz we asked 2 of them separately about the mobile phone available in the rooms for guest and they had no clue

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, very friendly staff, room service for food and good location. Slept well for 2 nights out of 3 as music was only a bother on first night which was a Friday.
Cons: It has a bar right next to it called the Chacha Bar, there music was very loud on the first night of my stay so i didn't get any aleep until after midnight. The sofa bed was not made up ready for my arrival even though i booked for 1 adult and 1 chikd age 11. Had to call reception to bring bedding covers and made it up myself. No bottled water in the room but plenty of tea/coffee.

Cons: There was a green light in the ceiling which glowed all night and lite up the room as did the mean light when you turned it off it still had a glow so the room was not dark and hard to fall asleep
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff are real friendly, food is good standard.
Cons: This Is a truck stop and therefore was very busy with both residents and passing trade. As there is no separate provision for residents to access service it became a real problem to stand in long queues to get a coffee or hand in keys ect.

Featured amenities include express check-out, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. This hotel has 3 meeting rooms available for events. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Noise in room from a heater in a cupboard. Staff did investigate this promptly
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Not alot really. The hotel was rubbish.
Cons: The staff were really rude. The hotel was absolutely boiling in most areas. The door of my room didnt seem that secure. The bathroom was smelly and not very clean. The bath had a massive crock going along the side of it. The room hadnt been swept of cobwebs. With a poor sight of an unmaintained back area. The food was medioke. The staff just plonked breakfast down in front of us and could hear them messing about in the back.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good sized room. Very quiet location overlooking fields. Inside areas very airy.
Cons: The front of the hotel and things such as guttering in a poor state of repair. This affected the feel of the hotel since it starts you off with a negative vibe.
6.3 Good
Pros: Love the shops pubs and places to eat
4.5 Okay
Cons: Room was dirty, smelt strongly of cannabis.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing really
Cons: Whole hotel needs a good clean and decorated when we pulled up we thought it was closed and did not look anything like it was advised very disappointed
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location good if your travelling by train. Saw someone get off the train and walk to the hotel probably 200 yards at most.
Cons: Outdated and in need of a refurbishment. No meals being served I think due to chef calling in sick. Overpriced for what it is IMO.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly
Cons: No chef on a Friday night after travelling up there after 4 hrs drive
6.8 Good
Pros: Staff were friendly.
Cons: Very noisy both nights of the stay. Sounded like a party outside our window and went on until after 2am each morning. First evening we came down to go out and the chef was shouting in the hotel and escorted someone from the building who had been in her kitchen unauthorised. Room very dated although it looked as though the rooms near ours had started to be modernised.
4.3 Okay
Pros: I didn’t like anything about the property. It was tired and very grubby. However I would like to say that the staff that worked there were really nice & friendly and very helpful.
Cons: It was very grubby everywhere. Our room was hot & humid with lots of bugs on the walls and ceiling which obviously came through the open filthy window but we couldn’t get rid of them. We did ask but they couldn’t offer a fan. Everywhere was old and tired including the filthy carpets. Worst thing was that we had had a long journey on the Friday, when we went down to have an evening meal we were informed that they didn’t have a chef so the kitchen was closed. We were all starving!!

Pros: The breakfast and Sunday lunch that we had were both reasonable and tasty - so hats off to the cook. The staff were friendly and tried their best to be helpful, but were ill informed on local attractions.
Cons: We stayed for two nights and the room was not cleaned at all during the time we were there. There were cobwebs in the room and a smell of stale smoke. The 'night frills' were brown and ill fitting. The only mirror was in the bathroom but we could see where, possibly, a mirror and pictures had been removed from the walls. The shower did not work, the hot water tap was leaking and there was no plug for the bath.. The opening window frame and window sill needed painting, and there were gouges out of the walls. The grass was overgrown.. and even contained an abandoned sock! The curtains were plastic lined and from the 80's and nothing has changed since. The hotel is miles away from any of the local attractions and so it is difficult if you do not have a car. On top of all that our waiter managed to drop my friend's fried fish on the floor on his way out of the kitchen - we got two glasses of wine in compensation.
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff were lovely. The reception lady gave me extra tea and milk and at breakfast the staff were lovely.
Cons: The bed was dreadfully uncomfortable with a big dip in the middle that meant my partner and I were rolling towards the middle. You couldn’t sleep straight in it. It made my hip hurt.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Sorry to say but nothing.
Cons: The carpet was dirty, shower had hairs in it, bed was uncomfortable and there were water stains down the walls. To top it off the fire alarm went off at 1am, speaking to another resident it happened to them the time they stayed before at 3am!
5.5 Okay
Pros: Reception staff welcoming
Cons: Pillows uncomfortable and on second morning shower cold breakfast not served until 0800 at weekend so too late for me as working
6.3 Good
Pros: Bed was comfortable
Cons: Needs TLC room carpet had stained all over cupboard doors hanging off
10.0 Excellent
Pros: wonderfully friendly and accommodating staff.
Cons: nothing!
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Quick check in and car park
Cons: The rooms seem very dated an run down. The carpets were stained an the furniture had seen better days. By the cobwebs on the windows and the amount of spiders and bugs in the room we could tell they haven’t been looked after for a long time.
7.5 Good
Cons: The newer rooms were great, some of the rooms at the back really need updating but still great for the price
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Spacious clean room, welcoming reception, good peice
Cons: The restaurant messed up our order and made no effort to rectify this. The bar area was sometimes left without staff.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: On arrival, we were left waiting while the receptionist was on a personal phone call. We were made to pay up front - £74. When we saw the room we were horrified! The bed looked like it was over 50 years old. The mattress was flat against the dirty old wooden bed. One of the windows was so misted up it could not viewed through. The curtains looked second hand and were hanging off. There were half filled holes in the walls. It looked like child had done the painting and decorating. The bathroom ceiling looked ready to cave in and there were cobwebs in the corner. There were hundreds of dead flies everywhere. We have photographic evidence of all this. The Roman Way Hotel have not replied to any calls or emails and they still have our money. Do not use this hotel!!

2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: My experience of a one night stay at the Cedar Hotel in a family room, was appalling. The facilities in room 31 were very very poor. The room was old fashioned & very tired. The ensuite bathroom was very basic with wall paper peeling off the walls and a toilet that would take over 10 minutes to refill, once flushed. The shower was broken & very dangerous. It was operating on the hottest temperature of 48 degrees only, which would have scolded my young daughter if she had taken a shower before I discovered the problem. There was no way to regulate the temperature. I reported the shower issue to the reception and was told it had been like that for a while and was offered the key an adjacent room to use an alternative shower. At £84 a night I feel this was not good value and to wish to Inform any future guest not to book. There are many other hotels with higher standards, nicer facilities for a lesser price.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Dirty, smelly, not looked after, damp all over the wall, ripped netting, radiator couldn’t turn off as the valves were broken, wallpaper coming away from the walls, had to walk through deep puddles as the driveway was just a dirt track. Not with £45 per night,
6.8 Good
Pros: location proximate to Rugeley
Cons: No Tea making in room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The night manager made a point of putting my bike in a safe & secure place. It was really appreciated
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Big room
