We had a very nice and relaxing time, exactly what we wanted. The all complex of rooms, garden, pool and communal area is very well kept. If you are in the area I highly recommend it.
Rooms are big. We had a 2 room junior suite for only 60 eur a night. Swimmingpool with clean water. Nice bathroom with a bath and shower. For very little extra (8 eur per person) we could use a finnish sauna, that was quite acceptable (we come from Estonia so we are tight when it comes to saunas :)). The personnel was helpful. Free table tennis and pool table. A very pleasant surprise altogether.
Everything was very good.
Inconvenient location, light in bedroom is bad, ac does not work (not even after complaint), poor air circulation in bedroom and corridors (damp and smelly), disappointing breakfast
the room was large and spacious. nice bathroom. spa a bit disappointing separate swimming pool to a small spa which got crowded. slippy floors. staff could speak english and spanish but wouldnt and continued in portuguese apart from the barman who really made an effort.
Facilities in rooms excellant and spacious with good internet connection for business purposes. Hotel overall spacious and airey. All peaceful and nobody rushing around thus allowing me to relax during the evening. Location meant that it was rather a long walk to the centre of the city along not very salubrious areas which were not well lit.
The most interesting thing on this hotel is the SPA Rooms are too noisy and not thermally not confortable. Price is too high for hotel conditions.
Friendly SPA and Facilities; Building Design;
bed and airconditioning
Beautiful modern room and hotel, quiet and clean... Good breakfast
Clean and polite staff... almost a 5 star hotel, very close to the city center, although we still had to walk for 20 min. Breakfast was good and complete, but very disorganized... there were more persons waiting for a clean table than those who were acttualy having breakfast.
Nice new hotel - large rooms good bathroom. Quiet rooms. Excellent beds. Very good location - small town is very nice. Breakfast is ok but could be improved. Coffee from the coffee distribution machine is not good. The overall atmosphere and management misses dynamism. Modern building, design and equipment but staff is somewhat outdated.
staff were helpful when I complained that we were given a smoking room when I requested non-smoking. everything is about 50 years old ..inlcuding the breakfast. smells of dust and mould - we had to sleep with the windows open all night. Would never have children here. Not worth the superior room upgrade - ruined Viana do Castelo for us...
staff very helpful and spoke English well. Room was large. Breakfast room was lovely.
Good location, facilities & staff. Superb value. Traffic noise and noise from adjoining bedrooms.
Hotel needs some renovations both in and out.
nicef riendly staff
Staff were very courteous and welcoming. Room spacious. Location convenient and good view from breakfast room Hotel a bit tired. Fresh juice at Breakfast would be good
The curious James Bond decor and friendly staff. The hotel was very shabby. Decor was 1970s and, although very clean and tidy, in desperate need of modernisation. The breakfast was very disappointing - no fresh fruit, no yoghurts, revolting coffee....
reception facilities and a very simple breakfast.
Its central location and parking facilities Breakfast reduced to minimum, but since the hotel is quite cheap we could understand this.
Stunning view, good facilities, courteous staff
splendid location views, splendor of the building furniture little bit outdated in the rooms
The location of the hotel is excellent. It is a very elegant hotel. The staff were very good. Pan pipe music in hotel is awful. Quality of restaurant food in evening could have been better, the description was better than the final product.
It was a beautiful place, and the staff spoke English very well. The bartender was especially nice (sorry I didn't catch his name).
The fantastic views of the town below. The super relaxing atmosphere with little intrusion by staff. The relaxing lounge. the hotel decor/ fittings are starting to get rather dated (1980's) in the bathroom, who wants a bidet now or plastic/ glass towel rings?
The staff were very helpful and the common areas and room very clean and nicely furnished. Very good breakfast with champagne which was a nice touch. There was no pool side bar and there was a very limited menu for the restaurant. I would also have liked to have had a bar/cafe menu for snacks during the day. Would also like more sun beds and umberellas and some heating in the pool! The room was small for the price. Drinks were very expensive .....3 Euros for 1 litre of water!
Restaurant served good food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom were very small for this class of hotel and price
Veiw Top of hill
It is a very good hotel. My wife and I had been there for four times and we enjoy the City, the beaches and the whether.
Quiet, right in front of the sea and beach. Modern, minimalist design. Make sure to book a sea view room. Good restaurant. Access to swiming pool and spa for hotel guests.
Excellent ocean views, spacious modern rooms.
fabulous view Terrible smell at night from burning rubbish. A couple of chairs on the room terrace would be welcome
The style, comfort and location in the town No restaurants close by
Convenience and the view was very nice.
Lovely standard, very friendly reception staff, great restaurant Nowhere to sit outside near the beach or pool
the beach was beautiful, the rooms were clean but small. i was disappointed that we did not have an ocean view room.
Very close to the sea our room had the afternoon/evening sun which was great. A bit 'out of town'. Food very good but on expensive side
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Dani answered all my questions and assisted me with booking my next hotel.
Staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. The rooms looked a little bare, perfectly adequate.
nice and clean room, the design was great, nearby the historic centre the breakfast was to limit for a four stars hotel, there is no sport recreation and the closet was to small for two persons
Quirky hotel with lots of color and life. Walls were paper thin and you could hear everything. Bed squeaked with slightest movement.
excellent staff very helpfull
Design and location. A gem of a hotel in a jewel of a town.
Great location to walk to all the sights and to restaurants. Noisy at night from street sounds. It was a weekend and bars must have been open very late!
cloes proximity to choice of restaurents lack of air conditioning
This is a slick, sexy, boutique hotel. I am 60 yrs. pld and felt perfectly at home. Wonderful people and breakfast.
poor breakfast------small room
Stylish decor, helpful staff and excellent breakfasts. Nicely located opposite the river, adjacent to shops and restaurants.
The fact it was an historical house only that during my stay there were constructions nearby that were noisy in the morning
everything except (see next point) the horrible elevator music in Restaurant/Breakfast room
The staff were attentive and very friendly, the hotel has great style and atmosphere. The foos was very good.
Friendly and informative staff, nice historical setting, easy walking distance to main points of interest The breakfast is not 5*, Ibis offer better, the fruit was not fresh and neither was the juice and nothing hot on offer you have to order which saves on costs for the hotel but puts people off due to the wait, the hotel is located on a main junction so ask for a quiet room if you do not want to be woken early by passing traffic
I like the staff, the building, the location... The bed could be more confortable, the matress is not that great. breakfast could be improved and a swimming pool would really add to this beaultiful property.
The location of this hotel is ideal if like us you plan to use public transport. Both train and bus stations are close by. The hotel is also very convenient for the old town, theatre and river Lima. Although centrally located the hotel is quiet and relaxing, has a well kept garden terrace area and is beautifully decorated throughout. All the reception staff spoke English and were very polite and helpful. The inclusive breakfast was very good with both cooked and continental on offer. None to mention
The town centre location; friendly and obliging staff, very clever mix of ancient and modern in the design, excellent food Harsh lighting in the bathroom (but this is being picky!)
The Restaurant/Chef/Waiters - very charming. Receptionists - extremely helpful The pillows - just too full your head slipped off them!
Breakfast above average, ambiance enchanting, near to shopping, staff friendly and helpful, everyone spoke english. The mattress was a bit hard for our taste.
Stylish old town house in beautiful Viana, very nice combination of the old & the new
Good hotel. Central close to the river and the town. We had a room with a balcony which made good use of the available space. The staff where impressive and very helpful. Good English spoken by everyone. Nice town with good links to the surrounding towns. A good base for the Minho.
The big plus: the very friendly staff!
The staff were professional, very welcoming and helpful. The information we received upon arrival about sites of interest in the town and the surrounding area was excellent. Very clean, bright and modern hotel in the historic centre of town. Because of the quality of the room and our experience of the hotel generally, we extended our stay there by an additional two nights. They were very accommodating. a small refrigerator and tea/coffee making facilities would have completed the picture for us.
Everything. It has modern rooms. It is a small hotel but very comfortable.
I loved everything. The staff was extremely kind, the rooms have been recently renovated-one year ago I think-and they are very "cool", the view was lovely, location nice, breakfast lovely, I have nothing to complain about. Good luck to them! No
Fantastic location! So comfortable and criepy clean-minimalist decor.Very near station for daytrips and luggage. uncomfy pillows.
+ Very well located + Very nice staff - Very small room - WC without privacy - Very poor breakfast. At least self-service would be better. - Parking is very small and paid
if you are a light sleeper, ask fo a higher floor, as the street below is cobblestoned
Clean tidy smart quiet Leaving
The clean, modern decor, the location, and the very friendly and helpful staff made our visit more than perfect. We liked everything.
The location was excellent and the Breakfast was great value for money
I enjoyed the town and that the hotel was close to it and the main access routes. Extremely small room and bright pink. Parking difficult.
The location and the breakfast were both excellent.
Traditional Portuguese building.A little old fashioned but that was part of its charm.Good location.Excellent breakfast Parking nearby.Car park states 2€ from 1900-0700 but it doesn't make it clear that if you arrive before 1900 the carpark charge the normal hourly rate throughout the night. We ended up paying 16€
Very comfortable room with hair dryer. Staff very friendly. Free wi-fi. Right in the centre of town, walking distance to the historic centre, shopping and main avenue. There was no shampoo.
Close to town centre. Corridors and sraitcase decorated in dark colours.
The room was huge and airy and overlooked the water as we had requsted. The staff was lovely and helpful as well
Location was great, room pleasant, False advertising, the carpark is not on site. Pay only parking some distance from hotel and Internet, wifi, did not work in the room.
The breakfast was good. Make sure you get one of the rooms at the front of the hotel so you get a view over the estuary. Fairly drab hotel interior
Perfect place: fantastic apartments, comfortable, clean, spacious; extremely friendly and nice staff - even the owner came by to great us; they pay close attention to detail so everything is perfect: the services, the food, the rooms, the support provided; we were sent text messages asking whether we need help before arriving; we were expected with maps, suggestions of places to see & restaurants to eat at; breakfast is served in your room so you can eat whenever you like; staying at the pool in the quiet mornings and enjoying the sun made this a wonderful experience and we hope to come back again!
The location was definitely the best part of this hotel - it is a quick walk from the train station (which is in a lovely part of town itself) and located within the bounds of the medieval center of town. There are lots of sights, museums, and restaurants in the area. It's about a 20-minute walk to Praia Norte, but it's an easy walk so we didn't mind. The table service during breakfast was also very nice - felt like being waited on in a restaurant! We left the window open overnight and the street cleaners woke us up - not the hotel's fault, but just something to be mindful of if your room overlooks the straight as ours did.
The view from my room, location and the staff. The size of my room.
Excellent location in the centre of town.
Friendly staff and great central location. Nice comfortable room and breakfast ok with cake. A visit up to the Basilica is reccomended, fantastic views from there and even better if you venture up the Dome. Some street noise may be heard if you have a room at the front.
its clean, right in the middle of the town center, staff are really friendly although they dont speak english, and has fast free wireless internet connection... prices are very cheap. i think an English speaking staff would make it perfect ....
Location, gentle staff, great swimming pool, good bedrooms.
The hotel was very smart and it was a very good location if you have a car. Room was very big and smart-all seemed very new. Staff were pleasant but not overly friendly-this may have been due to language barrier. It almost seemed too new-not very homely. There was quite a few facilities, pool, tennis court, ping pong, bikes but on hotel info there was a charge for tennis & ping pong, bikes!!!-so we didn't bother. Considering the price of the room (inc breakfast)-the breakfast was really poor-very cheap. Think this really let the hotel down. A buffet is fine, but offering cereals and bread rolls is not good enough when you're paying 90 euros a night!!! would not recommend due to price but locaion was great
Excellent facilities with plenty of available activities in the common areas: pool table, widescreen tv, Stereo, Internet, table tennis, very well tended tennis court, very well kept swimming pool. None to mention
It is really a wonderfull place to stay. Very charming atmosphere, nice renovated old landhouse with very modern and distinguished equipment for entertainment and sport, friendly people running the hotel, good location in nice landscape (20 minutes from beach and Viana da Castello, 45 from Braga and 1 hour from Porto). Some rooms are really small. But the possibility to stay at different other very nice areas (library, billard room, music room etc.) inside and outside the hotel does more than compensate this little deficit.
everything! the place is stunning and looked after very well, the staff are very friendly. We stayed in 6 hotels while in Portugal, this was the best
Quiet rural area close to interesting towns to visit. Need a car to enjoy the area. Limited restaurant facilities at night. An active catholic church in town with daily rosary and mass at 6h30pm. Good buffet breakfast at hotel and very friendly and courteous staff and owner. Internet and fixed phone in room not operational. Best is to have a cell phone and use the lobby to connect to Internet
