9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice breakfast in a very stylish and dinstigushed breakfast room. Fresh fruits, delicious coffee, salmon and sweety things were great. All living rooms were installed in a very nice and selected style with personal atmosphere and working installations. The pool was nice, too. We enjoyed thenice room on groundfloor in a side building with direct access to the garden and a local spot, where we could take a small drink or quick lunch. We also could rent two city-bikes to make a short ride near by. The near-by city road was no problem during the night, and about 100mtr away from the room.
Cons: I would appreciate a small refrigerator in the room, especially during a warm summer for a fresh white wine or a beer However we could use a common fridge near the pool ;-)

Pros: Good quality accommodation and facilities run by v friendly and helpful owners.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place just won booking.com ... Spotless perfection. You even get a free bottle of wine from their vineyard and the next day you can visit their vineyard shop if you want to stock up. The wine is awesome especially the saivignon. The pool is great and the rooms and just amazing. YOU HAVE TO STAY HERE !
Cons: That I couldn't stay longer
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere in the chateau was tranquil and relaxing.....just what we wanted. The fact that the vineyard is across the road was a welcome bonus. The owner was very welcoming and even coped admirably with my schoolboy French. A wonderful place to rest and tour from.
Cons: It was rather difficult to find, given that it is a little off the main roads, but once found, I have to say, that added to the “local” feel of being deep amongst the wine making countryside.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about this bed and breakfast - it had everything you needed for an enjoyable stay. The hosts were very accommodating and with the inclusion of breakfast every morning - what more could you ask for. Exceeded our expectations!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was not a hotel or cozy B&B, it was like a “at home” like we were the part of Jean family spending summer vacation with relatives in a big house full of LOVE and HAPPINESS of previous and current generations!) You’re lucky if you’re on this page considering where to stay in Grand Bordeaux, Maison de Jean is fantastic place which bring you unique experience!! Talking on booking.com language the Maison de Jean has only advantages: HOST: charming Caroline who warm welcomes us and stayed with us in connection anytime LOCATION: Château is in calm and peaceful place. Vineyards are in one-minute walk, flowers and birds are everywhere)) ROOMS: adorable design, full of light, beds are extremely comfortable, sheets and towels are cloudly soft, no sign of previous guests. The cleanest room in the whole France! BREAKFAST: thanks to thoughtful Sabrine every morning we had very delicious breakfast with super fresh and local products. Thanks a lot for Caroline and her family for this lovely and sweet weekend
Cons: N/a
5.5 Okay
Pros: Lovely property in a quiet location set amongst vineyards and adjacent to a lake. Convenient for parking at the property Swimming pool Modern and large bathrooms, and comfortable beds. Clean. Tasty continental breakfast is provided The property is a convenient base for day trips to places like Bordeaux city, St Emelion, Margaux and the coastal beaches around Royan It's only a 5 minute drive into the lovely town of Blaye, with its nice restaurants and its prominent Citadel.
Cons: When you arrive at the property you'll more than likely find that there's no-one to greet you and to check you in. If you look carefully enough you'll eventually find a note on one of the doors that advises you to telephone the owner if no-one is present. However that's when you'll find that you can't get any mobile phone reception to be able to complete the call. So the second part of the note on the door says that you can go across the road to the winery to get someone from there to check you in. The phone reception however becomes usable when you get to your room up on the first floor. There is poor Wi-Fi reception in your room as the router is located downstairs and there are no repeaters throughout the property. It's also difficult to get the connection password as it's not listed on any material in the rooms, and as there's no-one around during the day you may have to wait till the next day at breakfast to get the authorisation. There was no cooling fan in the room, contrary to the booking agreement. When asked if a fan could be provided as it was very hot at night, and since it was listed as being one of the room amenities on the contract, we were simply told that there were only 3 fans available at the property and as there are 5 rooms then we couldn't have one. So if it's summer and you need your windows open at night due to the high temperatures in the room, you have to note also that there are no insect screens on the windows in your room. Consequently there will be large numbers of mosquitoes and other insects coming into your room at this time of year. So you'll probably be sweating, and also getting attacked by mosquitoes.... not the best conditions for a good night's sleep. The owner, contrary to what a some people have said, is pleasant most of the time but was quite rude to myself on one occasion. It could have been more noticeable to us due to the fact that we stayed there for 10 days.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very friendly and welcoming ,the house is beautifully furnished The breakfast is good with fresh bread , fruit ,cereal and yogurts. , The room was very comfortable with a modern en suite. BIKES FREE.
Cons: There is poor Wi-Fi reception in a room as the router is located downstairs. NO AIR CONDITIONG in the rooms (was very hot at night).

Le Jardin Secret - Gauriac - Bedroom

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly owner, peaceful surroundings, gorgeous breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: beautifully designed room - very comfortable Super helpful owner Irem. Great kitchen if you wish to make your own meals, which is helpful if you have diet restrictions in France! Breakfast was superb and catered for vegan / coeliac ....very thoughtful! This place is in a stunning location - so many things to explore around the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well kept inviting garden, full kitchen, decent internet and a warm welcoming hostess. You had a feeling that every detail was very well thought out. Thank you very much for a wonderful experience. You should book this place so that you will have an idea of what B&B experiences can be.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very welcoming and speaks good English compared with our dismal French. Both the bedroom and bathroom were spacious and tastefully decorated and there was a separate toilet, with an eerie green glow that I really liked (!). The rooms available - I think there are only three - have double doors opening onto the 'secret garden'. The kitchen / breakfast room is a separate building, well-equipped. The use of a refrigerator overnight was very useful. It is so comfortable and peaceful. I slept like a log. Breakfast was typically continental, but it was very fresh and there was as much as you could eat. The coffee was excellent and fruit was available. Parking was free at the rear of the property, which is also how you access the rooms. There was even the offer of the use of the pool. The citadel in Blaye and the town of Bourg are worth visiting.
Cons: This is not a criticism at all, other than of me. I'm not the most natural conversationalist in the morning and the breakfast table is set for six guests. Luckily we shared the space with a morose single French traveller, so that wasn't really an issue! A word about finding the property. We did have a bit of a problem, but that was sorted by enquiries at the bistro in the village. The street is not in our satnav, but if you are arriving from the north, there is a road to the left with a chambres d'hotes sign before you get to the sign for the village. Go up there and you'll find it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really friendly and helpful proprietors for ideas if where to explore or go for walks.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Super friendly reception, excellent accommodation and facilities. Great breakfast. 10/10
Cons: Nothing at fault throughout.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Booked on the day and we were delighted with the place. The lady was very friendly and helpful and everything was perfect for us. Nice breakfast in the morning and nice chat with her too. Good to have use of the separate kitchen and to sit in the garden in the sunshine.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was fab.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was really comfy and beautiful. Our host was so friendly and also very understanding about our extremely late arrival (many places wouldn't have let us in that late). Extra points for great organic coffee!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A rambling house with well appointed and very clean rooms. The bedroom (which overlooked a lovely large garden) was somewhat idiosyncratic in that it had a large, gilded (but at least to my wife and I - benign, even comforting) statue of the Buddah in one corner. The owner was very friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. The property is in a very rural location but there is an attractive village with restaurants and a supermarket a few kilometres away.
Cons: Shower not working.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The host was so very nice, rooms are nicely decorated & comfortable big bathrooms. A true French experience. Breakfast was prepared by our host with a lovely table setting.
Cons: A bit of remolding going on but nothing we could overlook
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room and bathroom were great. Patrice is still working on the property but overall it was very pleasant.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was comfortable and the welcome friendly. A swim in the salt water pool followed by an excellent dinner and a good nights sleep. Breakfast in the morning set us up for the day.
Cons: Nothing negative springs to mind.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts, grounds, amenities, rooms and dinner all exceeded expectations. I liked it so much that I have scheduled a night in the future with my wife as we travel from the USA to our French home in St. Cyprien
Cons: Nothing could be better. Scraping for something to say, I would suggest a Google Earth view of the property to make it easier to locate. However, this was a very minor challenge and was barely worth mentioning.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly warm welcome. Individual and artistic hotel. Chemical free pool. Lovely breakfast with home made yogurt and preserves. They know how to look after the guests. Proper English tea in a tea pot
Cons: Forgot to ask for a coffee and night cap
9.5 Excellent
Pros: tastefully arranged premises teamaker in the room copious breakfast friendly hosts
Cons: water in the pool was turning greenish
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sophie and Eric are excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome. Sophie cooked us a wonderful three course meal on both the evenings we stayed there and we enjoyed eating in their lovely garden. Would strongly recommend this property and the hosts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room and decor, large bathroom. Great pool. Warm welcome from very friendly hosts, very nice breakfast and evening meal. For fellow motorcyclists, don't worry about parking as gravel is contained in plastic grid and is perfectly stable.
Cons: Difficult to think of anything negative, just that the WiFi was very slow, but probably due to rural location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful service from the owners Sophie and Erik complete with fantastic French breakfasts and dinners. Sophie is an amazing home chef and made us a lovely dinner of sea bass, cheese souffle and mango mousse. Erik knows his wine and recommended a delightful pairing. The home is removed from the more congested touristic towns but still an easy drive to all of the different appelations in the Bordeaux wine region. A quick ferry ride puts you in the Medoc region or you can drive east to St Emilion or south with a quick visit to downtown Bordeaux. I hope to return!
Cons: It was all wonderful - I have nothing to suggest for improving the experience. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely home-made yoghurt. Very attentive hosts. Fantastic gardens and pool.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were very unique, with extremely large, comfortable beds. A lot of thought had been put into making sure everything was catered for, and we appreciated not feeling we had to be out of our rooms during the day. Our hosts were very hospitable and helpful with dietary requirements of our disabled son.

Overview Reviews
Located in Saint-Paul, Chambres d'hôtes Les Denias is within a 10-minute drive of Maison du Vin de Blaye and Blaye Citadel. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely host ( she really cant do enough for you) and outstanding Breakfast. Handy location for local area, though a little difficult to find in the dark.
Cons: At 70 euros we thought this was over priced, having stayed at an apartment not that far away for considerably less the previous night. Our opinion is that there could be better deals to be had locally. We're with 'Jean from Senegal' ( see previous comment on this site) re the decor; it is 'odd' rather than stylish or even quirky. The bathroom set up is also rather unsettling, with a glass section ( albeit it not entirely clear, but not frosted) in the dividing wall with the bedroom, allowing anyone in the bedroom to see any toileting by a partner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean room and shower. Great breakfast.
Cons: Had to drive to restaurants.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Estelle a fantastic hostess. location glorious, lovely premises. everything you could want in facilities (even a pool (pop-up) in garden not mentioned in spec. nothing too much trouble, she's really lovely. you might want a car, everyone else had one, but we were being transported by family so no problem for us (we knew in advance and used taxi when we preferred)
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, clean and functional with a warm welcome. Hosts have taken every care to provide all that guests require including air conditioning which was much appreciated during a heatwave. Large period home set in landscapes garden in the country. Perfect mix of being tended to and given privacy. No question I would stay there again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the friendliness on the hostess, the beautiful aspect of the building and easy proximity to Blaye and Bourg.

Pros: Great friendly staff, very accommodating and provided good suggestions for wineries and places to eat. The breakfast was really good and set you up for a morning of wine tasting. The location was ideal to cover all aspects of the Medoc region. The bed was comfortable and the room was very spacious. We would not hesitate to stay there again during a future visit.
Cons: B/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great postion right in the centre of Lamarque, having said that a very quiet place to stay. Modern decor, extremely clean - all in all a very comfortable stay. Wonderful breakfast. Very friendly and helpful owners. Well deserving of a high rating!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: they felt us at home
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Magnifiq breakfast, very kind owner, house atmosphere
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Ideal location for visiting the many Chateau's in the area, although on the main road through the village free parking is available outside the property and close by. Owners are very accommodating and try to be helpful, although English is not easy. Room had en-suite and TV, and located at the back of the property. Entry though key code, so access is available when required. Close to Lamarque ferry which is 5 minute drive.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean and tidy. Very good breakfast.
Cons: Nothing going on in the village
7.5 Good
Pros: Location in the Medoc and convenience for the ferry to Blaye.
Cons: The ferry was on strike but nothing to do with the proprietors of the B & B!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owners are very nice and helpful. The bed we had in our room was very comfortable and the whole setup of the room was perfect as well as the shower which looked like completely new. Biggest surprise was the breakfast which was plenty of food including eggs which is a not standard when it comes to French breakfast you get in hotels. I can only recommend stay at Le Medoc de Maxou.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly hosts who also cooked us a fantastic hot breakfast which included French toast and cheese omelette.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When we arrived at around 8 pm we needed some dinner. Knowing that on a Monday most facilities would be closed we asked for assistance. Without hesitation the owners picked up their phone and called a place not far. Even before looking at our room we left to get dinner, and therefore checked in properly much later, but with a problem. The room was stylish yet functional, modern bathroom, and the double glazed windows helped insulating against the cold weather! The location was right in town, we could walk to chalets for wine tasting, just great!
Cons: Something that didn't trouble us but might be a hindrance for some: The stairs to the upper floor are very steep, also if you are wheel chair bound this property is not for you. So for us there was nothing negative to say.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property . Very comfortable room
Cons: On booking.com site the hotel price was advertised as including breakfast (why we chose it ) . At the point of booking it disappeared as an option . Antionette who was very helpful then rang me to tell me if we wanted breakfast it would be 12 euros per person . She explained we would be the only guests and the hotel was almost closed for the season . So for us there were two issues - related to booking.com not the owner . It was disappointing as the hotel & breakfast had good reviews .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous old world surrounds, a lovely breakfast buffet as well as a charming and helpful hostess in Antoinette. Our kids of 6 & 8 were delighted to be able to cool off in the outdoor pool and the groundsmen seemed to enjoy seeing young kids getting value from the place.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful cute castle with ‘hotel’ rooms in the renovated barn. Really good introduction and tips for visiting the area from the owner. Less than 10 mins drive to the Citadelle of Blaye. Fabulous pastry display for Breakfast!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic little place. Lunch and Breakfast were good value. Owners were very helpful and attentive. If you want a little place to stay whilst visiting Margaux then please do stay here
Cons: The pool area could of been a bit cleaner.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Quaint, lovely rural boutique B and B. Quite spacious and comfortable. Typical Petite Dejeuner.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The location, close to visiting the vineyards of Haut Medoc.
Cons: Where do I even start. It didn’t help it was one of the hottest days in July (42 Celsius!). We had booked a family room. We have two small kids (2 yrs and 3.5 years). We were shown to the room on the first floor with a shared bathroom. Shared in a very uncomfortable way too!! The room was TINY. It was stifling hot, and we were not provided with a baby cot. It was basically like sleeping in a prison cell, or what prison would feel like. Very cheap and basic like a hostel. Totally did not match the pictures AT ALL. After some complaining the woman working that evening kindly offered us a gite (which was a two bedroom mezzanine flat) across the street. This was appreciated. It was still very hot, but at least we had space for the kids. Cleanliness was so so, found a cockroach in the flat, and furniture was extremely outdated and it was cheaply done up. At this point it is like what can you expect. So in summary, do not believe the photos - they are running this place on a shoestring and it will not be as amazing as you may imagine it to be. The pool on a hot day was a good extra, bit was quite dirty.... all in all it was terrible... . think carefully if you want to stay here. Definitely not a bed and breakfast for British standards - it’s a hostel. Looks like a great concept but they’ve lost the will to keep on and run it at a bare minimum. We visited some other vineyards and shared our experience with the vineyard staff, and they have also hear similar stories from other guests, interesting...!
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice place and very comfortable
Cons: There was only 1 tea bag for 2 people. No access to the small swimming pool.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Made to feel very welcome. breakfast good . the villa we had for the night was for a family very well equipped ideal with young children. eg fridge washing machine lounge diner ideal base to travel out daily .
Cons: very happy with our stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic breakfast, clean and big room and central location. Happy, friendly staff.
Cons: Quite basic toilet facilities and shared bathroom between a number of rooms meant the wait could be quite long
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We thought this guesthouse was very quaint and in a good location. Everyone was very welcoming and kind and the breakfast was good. We stayed for two nights.
Cons: The room was stifling at night as we did not have a window, just a door to the pool area, and we didn’t feel comfortable leaving it open during the night. There was no fan in the room. The pool is a nice touch, but was too cold for me personally and full of insects and leaves by early evening. The pool ladder is loose and needs looking into. The only toiletries were liquid soap by the sink and two tiny sachets of shower gel. As our room was not made up the second day, nothing was replenished. Fortunately, we took our own shampoo and shower gel.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was good.

Pros: House itself was stunning on outside & in. Rooms were huge, v tastefully decorated. Clean & v maintained. Also loved the fact that although b&b you had use of dining room & lounge, which was solely for use of the 3 b&b rooms. Also the hosts were fantastic, soo welcoming & friendly, helpful. 8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice homemade breakfast with a lovely lady serving us. Quaint breakfast room and nice pool/loungers!
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: The property is very cute, the 4 guest rooms are all in a sort of barn addition to the main old house. It’s like living in someone’s old house farm barn in the middle of nowhere.
Cons: The listing said pool and jacuzzi but none were available. The staff, especially the manager was rude and told us off for eating our strawberries and cookies on a table on the house patio. ( after we had asked the cleaner where we could sit and eat our snacks) He said we were reducing the “appeal” of the property! When there was absolutely no one around. (We didn’t see a single other guest during our 3 days there.) The manager also didn’t get back to us about a forgotten jacket.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful and the atmosphere was great
Cons: Nothing

Pros: The atmospheric energy this place gave off was amazing
6.3 Good
Pros: Proprietor very relaxed, very few people about, open tree-shaded courtyard lending almost an African feeling to a well regarded working vignoble. Swimming pool looked a bit unkempt and general atmosphere was 'chic rustic' appealing mainly to seasoned travellers
Cons: Not much really, without changing the whole style of the place. A fridge in the room with bottles of water would be welcome

Pros: The pool
Cons: Shower only hand held
9.5 Excellent
Pros: My wife, Bowdie the Spaniel and I had the pleasure of meeting Isabelle and staying for a night in September. We were made so welcome and despite it being harvest time on a busy working estate, we were treated to a tour of the cellar and were gifted some wine to share with our alfresco supper, which we enjoyed immensely as the sun went down. Isabelle allowed us to walk the vineyard with the dog at will, which was a lovely chance to unwind and absorb the atmosphere. We left filled with knowledge, relaxed....and with a few cases of some of the most delightful wine I have ever tasted
Cons: Nothing at all
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A nice continental breakfast. Fresh orange juice etc. But best of all we were able to sample and buy wine from the vineyard which has been an excellent purchase. Family run and very friendly, we will return.

Overview
Lovely large bright double room with king size bed and en-suite shower room, which sleeps two adults. With high ceilings and two large windows over looking the gardens. The room has a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The room is part of Vine House b&b and is perfectly located just a short drive from Bordeaux's tram system and the major motorways, set in the vineyards of this beautiful wine region. The house was once a wine producing farm but now has been transformed into a beautiful bed & breakfast. We have two other letting rooms, all with king size beds with private shower/bathrooms. Also there is an apartment with king bed, shower room, lounge, tv, kitchen, dining area, private courtyard with bbq for outside dining. There is a relaxed atmosphere, we like our guests to feel at home and enjoy the house, gardens & swimming pool. We also have two four bedroom gites for rental. Located in a small hamlet, surrounded by vines we are 35 mins drive from Merignac airport, St-Emilion and Bordeaux city center. The small town of Bourg 7mins drive and Blaye 10 mins have many restaurants and weekly markets but are very lucky to have a very nice restaurant 2km away open for lunch and dinner serving a set menu in true french home cooking style.
