it was right in the city centre 2mins from all the shops would stay at this hotel again. fantastic hotel and location
Close to the bay and shopping. No
It was very convenient- I was waiting to meet with my husband who was travelling by Ferry. The room had a great view and was very large and comfortable. The eveing meal was excellent value. I do not really enjoy eating alone but the staff made me feel very comfortable The pillows on the bed! Re 2nd question below: I did not read any of the reviews so cannot comment
The hotel was opposite the Brittany ferry terminal
layout and furnishings of room
It was very relaxing the rain and wind
close to shops and port
Location and value for money
Only stayed onwe night very good fo ferry vvv
Location and quality
Very Clean and quiet
How close it was to the water and to the Palace.
Efficient, pleasant and convenient
the food is really worthy(especially the toast)
Very comfortable, fantastic location close to Sardinero beaches and easy access to Santander city centre
the breakfast in the morning not many people spoke much english, and the restaurant was all in spanish, so could not order any food or drinks.
Rooms very clean and of good size Price of breakfast 32e for two persons !!
Location No smoking policy
Excellently appointed hotel close to beach and casino. Very clean and comfortable despite being an older hotel. Secure parking under the hotel at a reasonable cost of 12 euros per day.
great location, clean and modern wi-fi was not very user friendly. TV was rather old and had only 1 English speaking channel
the staff was so friendly not a thing
the heat in the room! and it's impossible to set your own room at the temperature you want
As such i had come for the conference so generally i was quite comfortable whether it is morning breakfast or any other kind of assistance, enquires etc. being new to santander. Nothing
Fantastic location for the centre of Santander and access to great food; lovely room and very helpful staff. No outside area and you are a long way from the beaches; very limited parking - we couldn't get our car in. Breakfast was poor.
it was a four star hotel and lived up to its rating, which sometimes in Spain you cannot rely on.
We stayed there from 21st to 24th October hotel is beautiful and very central to everywhere. Rooms are lovely beds huge. Would definitely recommend this hotel
Good location, very comfortable, high standard. Getting Reception to ring taxi at departure not easy. Young man told my husband to try outside at first but young lady tried harder and got us a taxi.
the customer service
Clean room, helpful staff, nice evening meal at a good price. Room was too hot, my visit was late October and I think the AC was turned off
Very comfortable, well furnished, restored hotel. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Noise carrying from other rooms and from kitchen
smili,g persons especially in the restaurant; good food and recommendable
Easy access good safe parking English not spoken
Lovely location, luxury hotel, helpful staff, very interesting village, only stayed one night, but hope to go back next year. Because of the time of year, November, not many restaurants open in the village in the evening, the hotel itself didn't have a restaurant,. so would go back at a warmer time.
A beautiful, small, historic hotel with very good staff in the centre of Santillana. We had no dislikes.
The historic setting
Lovely old world charm..lots of character: comfortable and very cosy: good breakfast choice.
I liked the situation, the charm and hotel staff the breakfast could be improved
An absolutely superb hotel. The staff were charming and helpful. The location is just superb for an off-season break (may be a little touristy in the high season). Beautiful village, beautiful room, public rooms perfect, stylish, comfortable, delightful and quite adequate for size of hotel (just 16 rooms). Bathroom large, spa bath lovely. Breakfast excellent. Lack of restaurant no problem, lots of restaurants in village, though in November many are closed. However, remaining ones included some gems. Within half an hour from Santander, could not recommend more highly. Excellent price.
We were upgraded to a seaview room no coffee facilities in room
An excellant hotel overlooking the sea. The staff were helpful and friendly. No complaints at all
The location in front of the beach was amazing and the food in the restaurant was the best we ate in Santander. The bar staff were very slow getting our drinks (over 45mins to get 4 drinks also some of the guys on reception looked a bit unapproachable.
I liked the services, cleanlines of the room and the the sea-view
the views and the inter-connecting rooms some staff not especially friendly, but one was very helpful. There were no special facilities for children, more of a business hotel, but very comfortable.
The views were nice and the room was very clean The room was ptetty tight... had to move a table to open the balcony
position. easy to find.
Location Non Smoking not available & smoke heavily penetrated my room.
Location, view from the room, size and decor of the room.
fantastic sea view location & food
staff very helpful
very nice rooms. very quiet and charming. Staff were helpful and spoke good english
Lovely setting and terrace area looking out to the sea. Breakfast was not included in the price.
Service! In this hotel they are very much aware of what hospitality really is and how you should pamper your guests. Breakfast is delicious, nearly a reason to select the hotel. Wonderfull location and very, very nice beds. Not applicable
Fantastic hotel, one of the best I've stayed in, fabulous location
It is a two star hotel.matress is 50 years old. tv the same.nothing works. water pressure unestable then you burn or freeze when other open a faucet. elevators unsuficient. dirty old rugs.restaurant poorest in whole spain. no way to roll your lugage at entrance and no staff when you arrive or depart. unconveniently located and no taxis out front. safe did not work and did not received kind of room I reserved. two bed room. Worst hotel I have ever been.dont know how come is at category small luxury hotel
The hotel is very well situated and is luxurious. We had a beautiful room with a spectacular view. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool and spar were really good but we consider it to be an expensive additional facility.
A beautiful classical hotel in a wonderful location. The sea view rooms are highly recommended. Probable due to the hotels age the sound proofing between rooms could have been better.
We stayed 3 nights here and found it to be a superb hotel well situated . right on a beautiful beach. Modern rooms which were very comfortable and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast, everything you could wish for. Restaurant facilities were good and value for money. An ideal base to see the area. Would stay here again and would thoroughly recommend it.
A comfortable and well appointed hotel. Close to the ferry port. The staff were very friendly and helpful. No obvious deficiencies
Lovely room with balcony (424) very pieceful had a wonderful weekend. Great Chinese down the road 1st right after roundabout (Not the Oriental that's crap) Expensive for food and especially fresh orange juice (£3+ a small glass). After all they grow like weeds in southern Spain!!!
Warm and comfortable and with variety of eating options. Well placed for Santander and ferry terminal On leaving garage at top of slope my car exhaust hit the ground, so a problem with car which are low o to the ground
The cleanliness of the room and the view - also the buffet breakfast
Convenience Poor breakfast
Having read all published comments about this hotel I can only wholeheartedly agree - excellent choice - all rooms had a seaview!
The decor, bar and restaurant service and the general quality of the experience. There was nothing that I didn't like.
great location and good price, nice bar (didn't try the restaurant but looked good)
easy to find great and helpful staff lovely snacks and polite waiters no english tv stations and curtains didnt pull across no coffee making facillities in room
Closeness to the beaches and parks Tea and coffee making facilities in each room would be a good idea, and information about local restaurants, swimming pools etc, useful.
Helpfulstaff excellent dinner Breakfast appeared not to be staff available to cope with the demand
The room was excellent with a nice view of the sea.
Nice, modern hotel. A little over-priced
Location, being close to ferry port at Santander for onward trip to Portsmouth. Views from hotel/room & proximity to town centre & located in an upmarket area. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. However, we have found this seems to be standard practice in most of the Spanish hotels we have stayed in, why? Also car parking charge excessive, but underground garage is secure albeit when we stayed appeared hardly used.
Location for beaches. Breakfast served in dull basement area. Not all waiting staff were helpful like reception staff. Would not class this as a 4 star hotel.
friendly reception - position of hotel
Good facilities and helpful staff. Lacking in atmosphere.
Large comfy rooms with excellent staff bathrooms could do with a little update
The location The noise of the next door bathroom woke me up at 8 am The pictures of the rooms on the official website are not relate in some cases (like mine) with the real rooms. Really careful with this.
Very good breakfast. Staff very friendly despite language barrier. We could not speak much Spanish but the hotel staff could not speak any other language: French Italian or English. I think this could be improved! The hotel was on a noisy road and the swimming pool was too small.
This was our 2nd visit after staying here in Sept 2008. We were very disappointed to be refused dinner in hotel dining room, although they had spare tables. We were turned away and told to walk into Santillana del Mar. I thought hotels had a responsibility to feed residents. We were offended and will never return here.
Good location. Very friendly and efficient staff. Nice room. Good value
The hotel was beautiful, well located about 5 mins walk from the medieval town of Santillana del Mar, with parking which was a huge advantage given the restrictions within the town. There was a fantastic little restaurant across the road, where we had a fantastic meal. The pool area was very pretty and we would have used it for a couple of hours each day to relax at if the weather had allowed. The hotel could do nothing about thisl. We had dinner in the hotel the first night we stayed there. The food left a lot to be desired. It was awful. We did highlight this with the staff before we left.
New hotel, tastefully designed, modern facility, friendly staff, central location to towncenter Santillana-short walk - only 1,5 km to Altamira - can highly recommend this hotel no
Location. Character of hotel. We had two rooms but they were a bit far from each other (ground and third floors) - this could have been better planned.
Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room, pleasant area with access to historic sites and buildings, proximity to interesting places by the sea
There was plenty of car parking space. It was very near Santillana and therefore not too far from Santander for the ferry home. The hotel itself was well furnished. It was very good value for money. All instructions for guests were in Spanish (naturally!) but incomprehensible for us. None of the staff spoke English. The dinner menu was rather limited. A French translation would have been useful for us.
The rapport of price for quality and comfort is hard to beat.
Air conditioning to our room waas cut off at 4.am resujlting in a completely ruined night's sleep - stacks of traffic noise
Right on sea front very near old part of Santander easy to walk everywhere Air conditioning in room wasn't working which staff knew about but we were given another room with a sea view.
Friendly, obliging staff. Spoke good English. Good location as in the middle between the shopping/commercial area one way and in the other, the beaches. Also well served by public transport - bus stops right outside hotel. Had nice room on top floor - room 901. Has balcony and nice views. Lovely, good size bathroom. Room a little small, beds a little bit too hard. Also room a bit cold.
Excellent service and good location
Ideal location with great view over Marina, staff very friendly.
1. WIFI does NOT work. Missed deadlines! I was unable to do work because of wifi not working, missed important deadlines! 2. Every door slams so loud that sounds like bomb. 3. Smells cheap and kinda nasty. 4. Receptionists are incompetent and showed attitude instead of trying to resolve the problems related o WIFI. 5. The day I was leaving they proposed to change room. I thought it was clear expression of mocking and making fun of a customer. 5. In room 506, there is a light on the building outside near the window, which so strong that at night seems like you are the beach in front of the sun and the curtains do not help. I am not a light sleeper and I fall asleep easily, during this 4 day stay I could not sleep because of that and extremely loud door slamming. Overall experience was horrible. I flew across the globe from Los Angeles for work and due to mainly almost not working WIFI my trip was next to nothing. I feel I was robbed. This hotel does not deserve to be 4 star one.
The location of the Puertochico was excellent, lovely views over the bay and very close to the old City and restaurants etc. Very clean and efficient with very good Continental breakfast.
Great position in the city and close to everything bars restaurant and a short walk to the beach It was a bit expensive for what you got
The overall atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxing
Fantastic location overlooking the marina and walking distance to restaurants, bars and shops. We had booked 3 rooms and all of them overlooked the water. On arrival we sat outside and ordered a bottle of Rioja and paid the average rate, We expected to be charged more for a 4 star hotel with such a lovely view. Wished we could have stayed longer. We will be back.
breakfast buffet was fantastic
Lovely pool. Cafeteria was a good place for a drink or snack Restaurant was rather gloomy. Noisy church bells and clock on one side (we changed rooms).
Very good location fr traveling, Very goof hotel. As we are English we like our cup of tea, their were no facilities in the room and when we got up at 7.30 the receptionist told us we could not get a drink till the cafe opened at 8.30am.
The Templo de Agua experience is a MUST - absolutely fantastic, relaxing, vivifying, calming... The spa guide was delightful and even tho' she spoke no english was able to joke with us and get us laughing. Thoroughly enjoyable pleasure. The restaurant was inundated and impossible to get a seat in so we tried the cafeteria which was more like a restaurant - so don't be put off by the name - and the food was excellent. The daytime reception staff were impersonal, surly, rude, overly bureaucratic - the worst we have ever experienced in Spain: if it had not been for the very good points to the hotel, they could have ruined the stay being the first and last impressions of an hotel. They even did not want to take payment until we threatened to depart without paying when suddenly they were able to give us attention. Additionally we were kept awake for more than an hour in the wee small hours by a leaking tap in the room above.
Great Hotel - very upmarket and I got a great Rate at 0nly 60 Euros! Felt a bit out of place as I was on a motorbiking holiday - but hey dont judge a book ny its cover!!! Great location for night before Ferry Trip from Santander to UK.
I liked the castle building, the decoration and the atmosphere. I was there onky one night it's not enough time.
It was bright clean and efficient The beverage self-service at breakfast was very odd
Friendly helpful staff. The Hotel had occupancy for a family of four.
Location and very nice overall a good 4 star hotel !!!!! nothing !
Comfortable accommodation, good choice continental breakfast. In a lovely village setting, but don't be misled by the location -- Santilla del mar is not a seaside town
Very welcoming hotel. Decor simply beautiful and uplifting. Staff were very efficient and caring. I think a restaurant would complete this beautiful hotel. No negatives, only that it would have been really great to have a restaurant on the premises.
Nice hotel, nice people.
Charme.Very quiet. Very nice staff. I really wouldn't like writing anything bad about this nearly perfect hotel, but...there was a long hair in the ham dish at the breakfast buffet.
The decor was stylish, the receptionist extremely helpful and we enjoyed a drink on the terrace in the evening. Little light and fresh air in room due to small window.
Lovely room, very comfortable. Big old style, extra bed in the room. Lots of space and close to town in park area. Parking available nearby at a cost of 2euro.
It was perfect and a great value, and the breakfast buffet was excellent
I toured the town The room I received had only tiny windows and was dark during daytime
clean rooms, great breakfast, friendly staff, great design, Jacuzi! the Jacuzi didnt work and we actually got a call from the front desk telling us to stop using it because there is a drain., we discover that only after we unpacked and filled up the bath. we where not offered any compensation other then switching the room ,which like i said- was already to late for us.
The hotel is a short drive from Santander & is very well located , 2 mins walk from Santillana del Mar old town and with plently of free parking. A lovely 17th century building which has been very tastefully converted to provide excellent accomodation. The owners & staff spoke English & couldn`t have been more friendly or helpful. Breakfasts were very good & offered a wide choice. Woken early (5.30am)each morning by rubbish collection--to be fair this is more of a general problem in Spain & does not refer specifically to this hotel.
Very good location, nice room (big bathroom and comfortable beds), not too expensive for a 4 stars hotel
Enjoyable stay for 3 nights in a junior suite. Slightly dated room but very well maintained, espresso machine a real delight. Maid service was excellent. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful (thanks, Mar and Angela). Air conditioning quiet and efficient. Overall a 9+ in my book. Ate at the restaurant twice, food was good and the portion was generous. Having the TV on spoiled the otherwise pleasant atmosphere.
Easy booking in process, friendly staff, good food, clean and spacious room. Cannot say anything negative about the hotel.
It was OK, not much beyond that. Location was not very good, a bit far from the city center, however there was a bus near by. The room design and comfort was a bit dissapointing.
Large room, good bed, close to the beach. Poor breakfast.
The provision of secure car parking but the charge was rather high. I would expect a 4 star hotel to provide a full room service 24/7 when your dinner service is too late for many people.
location, staff spotless
The staff were first rate
The hotel was excellent value for money, and provided an ideal base for both a beach and city break in Santender. Noisy bedroom doors.
Very good location and a very nice breakfast. The room was old and musty and the air conditioning made a rumble all night long. The front desk staff was dismissive and not very helpful.
pleasent view and well apointed rooms
Jose and his two sisters Maria & Chelo who own the hotel treated us like we were family! They showed us around the hotel that was once a stable and the new addition. You think that you are in a castle because the hotel is made of huge stones and all of the antiques that are through the hotel, they even have a lift to get upstairs. NOTHING!
Rather remoot location. No dining room/restaurant. Came back from site seeing one afternoon and the hotel was locked up. There was only one person working in the entire hotel.
Lovely building. Very nice romm. Good staff.
Jose and his sisters were wonderful--so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel!
Very friendly stuff. Clean and spacious room.
the elegance of everything the buffet breakfast was very expensive so i just had pastry and coffee
Splendid accommodations, large room, good amenities (including water pressure) in a historic setting, great location in the heart of the town. The concierge was very nice and helpful. The restaurant staff could not be described as warm and welcoming, and the "special dinner" of regional dishes was served in a very matter-of-fact fashion with no explanation, or interest on the part of the servers. Frankly, if I am fortunate enough to return to this town, I will dine elsewhere.
Although difficult to find in the old town, the hotel was in excellent location to see the town.
Beautiful hotel. Very helpfull staff. Great Location. Well worth the money.
Location, Parking availability. Room was of adequate size. Asked and received balcony. Breakfast was mediocre
It was everything one would expect from a Parador Signs directing one to the hotel are almost non existent leading to having to criss cross the village through very narrow sreets until it is found.
very pleasant room staff very pleasant if a little cool. lovely village no
The building and setting were wonderful and the room and bathroom were spotless and extremely comfortable. The waitress who was running the breakfast service was abrupt and unhelpful. The ladies who served dinner were pleasant as was the gentleman on reception. The food was served up too quickly with only a couple of minutes between courses but this is probably quite usual in Spain.
Staff attempted to place us in a less expensive Parador stating that it was what Kayak had contracted. I showed them Kayka's e mail and stood my ground and staff relented.
Superb location in the centre of the medieval town. Good and convenient parking. Lovely old building, beautifully converted and furnished. Comfortable beds. Luxury bathroom fittings, with multi-outlet shower cubicle. Bathroom water was tepid at best when we arrived mid-afternoon, and barely that at 7.30 the next morning. Desk clerk accepted that this had been the case, but did not apparently deem it worth an apology! Breakfast at 17 euros a head was very expensive for what it was - have had better in Spain at a third of the price..
The building is very nice but the decoration of the rooms is too plain, you could hear the Tv of the room next door at night
Good location. No evening meals available on a bar.
the room was smelled of tabaco.
The parking places too small
the roof balcony was lovely good for drinks on a starry night
Very well run hotel with helpful and polite staff.
evening meal in the restaurant was first class, all staff could not have been more helpful. would not hesitate to recomend or stay there again. not applicable
extremely friendly staff and good location
This hotel is very close to the ferry terminal for travelling to the U.K. Parking is safe for your vehicle.
very nice place to stay with our dog
I think that the reception on our arrival and checking out was first class . A job well done and a credit to the hotel. We dont have the young ladies name but she had just had her done. wi fi is only free if you use your own laptop and it is not free in the hotel rooms
The hotel was in a perfect location, had parking which was a necessity. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the girl in the restaurant even remembered what teas/coffees etc. we had the previous morning, and even remembered our room number! Would have liked free WiFi in our room.
