Pros: Absolutely magical place. The property, the care in all that they do- the food was outstanding and the cottage we stayed in was enchanting with the view of the river, porch to lounge on and sitting area with a fireplace.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breathtaking view of the river, and the room design is simply beautiful. I love the all-white against the furnishing and skylight in the bathroom is very clever and the perfect touch. Swimming in the main pool with the river as the backdrop is just amazing and a total luxury in life. This place is well hidden in the vineyard, almost camouflaged but yet stood out in terms of design and comfort. Well done, Eulalia!
Cons: Dinner could be improved - perhaps less heavy, more healthy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendly welcome and the attention to detail. The meal was of a very high standard.

Cons: Long way to get there

5.0 Okay

Cons: the home was very cold (i never had so much cold in an hotel), the room had AC but the floor was ice cold, there was no privacy and freedom, the car access was bad, the bathroom was tiny, the common areas aren't all that enjoyable, the surroundings were uninspiring (and the roads, tiring, due to the time in transit)
7.2 Good
Pros: Very friendly welcom by the owners and an excellent breakfast !
Cons: The road is not suited for a sports car with low ground clearance.
7.6 Good

Cons: Nothing!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: A secluded, restored apartment in a small, historic village (no facilities - Villa Nova de Foz Coa is 15Km away). Breakfast was excellent. Swimming pool was well maintained. Aida was extremely helpful. Thank you.
Cons: We should have expected it, but the village has very narrow lanes and our in-car GPS got really lost. When you find the village, the signage was very helpful and the views and experience are well worth it.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: the place is rural, with 21st facilities inside, the stuff is great, dinner and breakfast were as expected. All was good
Cons: the place, the service, the comfort, the facilities. All was great BUT the fact it was far away.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was fantastic! Thank you an Ana B.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A very friendly and charming place. Our two-storey apartment was very comfortable and even had air-conditioning in the bedroom. The pool area is great, also because of the beautiful art work (the owner is a professional and well-known sculptor as well as a real gentleman). Breakfast was very good. The setting is very rural; the howling wolves in the distance at sunset, and the magnificent (shooting) stars at night made it a very special place to stay.
Cons: The location being very rural is great, but also means that there is not a lot to do in the immediate vicinity. Mogadouro is only 15 mins or so away, so this is where you have to go for restaurants and shops.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding on every level. Utterly beautiful place; a gem! Breakfast: better than at a 5 star hotel! Very friendly welcome. Ana made us a fire in our room, and we met Manuel at breakfast. He told us about his art works; delightful, warm man. The setting is quite breath-taking, very relaxing. Loved it!
Cons: Nothing to dislike. Minor issue: the place is not easy to find. We recommend a good search on the Google street view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality of our host and the overall experience of rural tourism. Property was super clean and very cozy
Cons: Guests may enjoy a better internet. But if you want to disconnect it is a plus
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous housing away from the tourist mainstream, located in a small village in the countryside; large room with balcony situated in a small cottage that is part of a former farm house. The Quinta has a wonderful ambiente with objects from a well known portugese artist Manuel Barroco who lives and works in this Quinta. The pool area, the sleeping room and the breakfast room were very clean and perfectly managed. The service is excellent and professional, very kind and supportive. We enjoyed 4 wonderful days in the Casa das Quintas. Thanks to Ana and her father ...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is so genuinely nice that I would recommend it to anybody. Anna is such a nice lady who helped us a lot with everything. Beautiful artwork of Anna's dad who is a great person to chat with as well. We felt totally relaxed after our stay. Great value for money! Top choice!
Cons: 8.30 was the earliest breakfast time, which is a bit late if you want to fill a whole day with activities such as a nearly walk before it gets too hot, but Anna can accommodate you with a breakfast pack.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great atmosphere. Clean, spacious and stylish rooms. Beautiful property full of art made by the owner’s father. Great view, pool, surroundings. Breakfast was delicious. Ana even prepareren us a tasty sandwich to go when we had to leave for the airport very early in the morning. Ana and her family are so kind!
Cons: Not a problem for us, but the village is very remote. Closest restaurants are 15 mins away, in Mogadouro. Plenty of very good options there!

Pros: It is a real treat to stay at Chao Dordem, it's a proper farm and also feels like a real Portugese country family home. If you want to try all the delicious homemade stuff at breakfast you'll have to stay more than one night. And it is an excellent base for a visit to the Palaeolithic rock art - if you want a tour in English book it at the museum.
Cons: It was quite hard to find. Take the N102 south out of Vila Nova a d watch out for a left turn beyond Muxagata passing underneath the main road

Pros: The property has character; staff were very kind and diligent.
6.7 Good
Pros: As expected for such a rural location the accommodation was basic but adequate, Evening meal at additional cost was very good and plentiful, enough meat to feed us for a week.

The kitchen we were allowed to use was perfect. The Breakfast was provided by mother of the owner. Very friendly, good varierity of local products. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful hostess, fantastic breakfast of oranges and other fruit from the garden plus other goodies.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful Place in the middle of nowhere. Rita and her Mum where both beautiful. Her mum made a very very delicious and big breakfast in the morning - we where totally surprised of all the things she made. We had a good talk with Rita before we left - she is really friendly. If you can manage to get out that far in Portugals country you should come - totally relaxing place with the most newest furniture I have seen in on my trip. Very clean and comfortable Room! =)
Cons: Rita speaks good English but unfortunately the people of the village don´t so communication is a bit hard - but if you speak french, spanish or portuguese i am shure you will have good conversations there! Also the Roads to the place are a bit adventurous but manageable if you are a good driver ;)
6.3 Good
Pros: The owner is very friendly and very committed to give us the best breakfast possible. Her homemade jam was delicious and breakfast was really great! The bedroom was clean and neat, although interior decoration doesn't add up with the rest in my opinion...
Cons: I was a little disappointed because I didn't get the country house feeling at this place. We have to call and wait for the staff to do the check-in, there was no one on site and that is the first time that happened to me in this kind of accomodation. The sound isolation was nonexistent and I woke up every time other guests were leaving, from the moment they were in the shower until they actually left, which started at 6am... It was the poorest night sleep I ever had in hotels and country houses.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location and property had modern interior and very clean. Our host was lovely and very obliging. Excellent breakfast, wouldn’t hesitate to re visit.
Cons: Bed had a slightly hard mattress for me.

Pros: The hospitality was excellent. There was a very good restaurant nearby.
Cons: It was quite a remote village.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great find in the mountains close to the town of Torre de Moncorvo. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and pleasant ... breakfast was included in the price and was really good. The surrounding village was pretty and peaceful and the views across the valley were to die for. We chose to eat in the local restaurant, which was within walking distance. The owners were very nice. There was no menu to speak of, but they cooked us a very nice plate of steak and chips and salad for a very reasonable rate. The view from the terrace was amazing.
Cons: Only one place to eat in the village, other restaurants 12 minute drive away.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was huge . Modern facilities . Friendly staff
Cons: Getting to location very narrow roads

Pros: Breakfast is a real feast - a nice touch is that all guests eat at a common immense breakfast table
Cons: The bathroom "features" a distinct smell of leaky plumbing - according to the staff this depends on the weather. Keep the bathroom door well closed!
5.4 Okay
Pros: The hotel is situated in an old villa in the middle of the old part of the town, so everything is close by.
Cons: The staff mixed up the reservations and was not willing to admit it nor mitigate the situation. The communication was very difficult and some of the staff was really unhelpful. Also the walls between the rooms are quite thin and you can hear everything.

Cons: Nothing really. Perhaps our coffee could have been hotter for perfection but it was hard to fault.
7.1 Good
Pros: The central location and the staff. Nice courtyard with tables and chairs. Rich breakfast.

Pros: Quaint. Staff.Location. Breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff at the hotel and in the restaurant were excellent. The location of the hotel was very good. The town was high in the mountains, and the hotel was at the corner of the square. Lovely.
Cons: The bed had a plastic mattress cover and my wife and I couldn't sleep until we removed the cover, and turned on the air conditioning to cool down.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff, very friendly and helpful. The room was large, clean and comfortable. There was a games room and computer for the guest's use and the home cooked food in the restaurant was really, really classy. Would highly recommend.
Cons: Nothing, it was all very good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Host very friendly, provided a great gluten free meal, even though we were the only ones in the restaurant, which was a shame. Others missed out on a treat. He was apologetic he couldn't find gluten free bread, which wasn't a problem. Underground carpark with a designated area for moto's. Fantastic view from our balcony.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Large room, with a private balcony and wide view over the surrounding countryside. Free parking in front of hotel. Quiet neighbourhood. Good base for visiting the nearby Douro canyons and other sites.
Cons: Hot water takes time to come, and is not hot hot. One morning, out of the two we stayed here, there was no hot water, although we got some apologies from the staff.

Pros: amazing place
Cons: nothing
6.3 Good
Pros: Lovely setting in a rural valley amidst the mountains above the Douro Valley. Farm buildings tastefully converted into a courtyard of guest cottages. Peaceful setting.
Cons: We were not warned about the following: Its 10 kilometres from the railway station with no nearby restaurants or shops from which to buy food. There were also no open restaurants or shops anywhere near the railway station. And taxis were very hard to get unless you pre booked. Great place if you have a hire car or are on a surprise crash diet or are fluent in Portuguese. Not so good if none of the above apply. The owner spoke no English and offered no help including when he went off to get an evening meal for himself.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and nice location (there’s nothing around). Very friendly personel, even whenwe had a problem with our dog, it only took a few minutes to come over.
Cons: The only problem we had was that we didn’t know there were 2 giant dogs on the property (sometimes 3 withe the neighbour dog). We do love dogs and they were very friendly but since our dog (labrador sized) is traumatised from huge dogs (twice his size), it was very difficult to get around. The owner did everything he could to help us and asked a lot how our dog was doing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful staff and beautiful view of the surroundings
Cons: Main bed was a bit short

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: - Nice views - Isolated and quite
Cons: - Extremely steep, narrow, winding and long trail to drive up to the room way up in the farm far from the road. - No service, not even a receptionist at the farm. Arrived before 6:00 pm, found no one at the farm, called their number and we were told they were trying to call us to know our arrival time to meet us at the property (and they were calling our phone number in the US)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is so unique, up the vineyard, simply outstanding! The staff is very friendly and we really appreciated the breakfast basket in the morning. Thanks again for a great stay!
Cons: The hosts suggest it with their arrival guidance: we can only recommend arriving by daylight. We did not ;), and the first drive up the very steep and curvy vineyard in the dark was an experience.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location and unique experience . Small villas dispersed in the vine property , high on a slope with perfect view and privacy . Nice village at walking distance with beautiful food at the Taberna do Carro. Very kind and informative host .
Cons: Nothing really
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was a up a steep, difficult cobbled track that took us high into the vineyards and superb views. The infinity pool less than 5 minutes walk back down the track was a bonus.
Cons: Stargazing from the terrace would be better if we had found a switch for the outside light
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Romance of the vineyard, of the views and the setting could not be beaten. Fantastic little village to explore. The roads leading to the village and thus the vineyard are a adventure leading to a perfect road trip for us.
Cons: Having to leave
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The house is surrounded by nature, fruit trees. It has all you need to be confortable. For us, location was perfect as we where looking for a 3 days away from cities and in the country. This was exactly it. We where alone on the property, enjoyed the infinity pool, walked around a lot. The owner or the property and her assistant were really nice and arranged transport for us when needed. Overall, a great stay
Cons: Not much. Just be aware that you need a small car to drive up or you need to be physically in shape as there are a lot of hills. For us, this was not a problem: we walked and it was ok for us. Also, make sure you bring water in the house as you can t drink tap water
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unreal view from our Pigeon coup house, million dollar view in fact. Nice basket of fresh food brought for breakfast. The hosts were extra nice and helpful even making sure we had a dinner reservation the night of a big event in town.
Cons: Nothing

6.0 Good
Pros: Nice views towards the valley from some of the rooms (double room with private bathroom, I believe).
Cons: The room was in very poor state, with several loose pieces of wood flooring. Uncomfortable bed, with some kind of plastic sheet between the linen and mattress. The poor state of the building and location far away from the town center is not accurately reflected in the price of the rooms, compared to what I had in other similar towns. Shared bathroom showers were very small boxes with no room to change clothes comfortably.
7.0 Good
Pros: The woman working daytime is very frendly. But other workers are unpleasants !
Cons: Very bad localisation for someone without a car !!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was great, very close to the center of Vila Nova de Foz Coa. Great view, free parking. Fresh bread and cake at for Breakfast every morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great. Such a nice place with amazing view. Room was nice, also the bathroom was always clean and eqquiped kitchen was OK. Breakfast was delicious. The price was incredible! Thanks so much!
Cons: Little bit far away from train station Pocinho- by feet more than 6 km, without possibility catch bus.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Probaly the cleanest hostel bathroom I have ever seen. room was clean, helpful staff.
7.1 Good
Pros: very clean and nice view
Cons: Reception organised a taxi into town and return to eat at a restaurant as no food available at the hotel. Unfortunately we trusted this would be a reasonable fee. We were shocked when charged 37.40 euro by the driver on our return. The total return distance on google maps is 6,8 km. Reception should have at least Indicated to us before booking the taxi such a high cost. The hotel is too far out of town for travellers without their own transport to be good value for money. Overall cheaper to stay in town when this is the case.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great views of the surrounding countryside. Short walk into the town. The staff were so helpful & friendly. Spotlessly clean room & good hot shower.
Cons: Nothing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet. Extremely economical. Beautiful location.
Cons: Far from everything.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is stunning. The accommodation is clean and simple.
Cons: Nothing.
