Hotel is located amid the National Parks of Abruzzo with surrounding scenes superior to filming locations in "The Sound of Music" (Salzburg area). Medieval town partially restored with attention to minimal and true historical character but an overlay of unpretentious elegance. Staff is over-the-top friendly and helpful in genuine way. Room is rustic but ultra-modern in toilet/tub plumbing etc. Bed is large but you need to like a very firm mattress. Many details stay true to local, historical character from the artisan foods served to the shampoo provided. A once in a lifetime experience.
Excellent staff in a unique location. Not like any other hotel as it is spread around the town. Like living in a former time.At night the village is yours. The restaurant is very good. It is more an experience than a hotel stay. The rooms are dark in keeping with the theme. A little more lighting would be good. Not for everybody - the disabled would not cope.Relatively expensive.
The authenticity of the restoration of this ancient poor mountaintop town. This was not a Hollywood version of what it should have been like, but rather a respectful approach to restoring enough of the town to make it habitable for 21st century sensibilities. No.
outstanding appearance of the hotel (which is actually the village itself), excellent customer service, staff is attentive to every detail, nice restaurant, perfect and very cosy breakfast, gourmet project overall
MAGICAL. This place is like going back in time in Abruzzo, fascinating restoration of an ancient way of life with a working fireplace in your room and yet radient heat in the ancient-seeming tile floors - diffused electric lighting supplemented by candles, a lovely medieval village to expolore, castles and mountains at your door - so lovely. Be sure to eat in their restaurant at night - authentic hand-made food, excellent wines and a knowledgable staff proud to share their offerings with you. The furnishings are all quite authentic - the beds are snug and comfortable but there was no snug comfy chair to sit in while watching the fire ( this kind of furnishing not authentic to the period) but only small hard very authentic ladder-back chairs. I ended up improvising with a bed pillow on the radient-heated tile.
the room fodd not wonderful
The Castello was an enchanting experience, the room was superb and the staff helpful and efficient, and the views stunning. I would highly recommend it to anybody visiting that part of Italy.
Such a beautiful building in a charming town.
This place is beautiful. It really is a castle and our room was enormous with a very comfortable bed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke English very well. This place really is a castle and every inch of the place feels like you are staying in an castle of old. Very fun.
It is real luxury hotel for reasonable price. Staff was excellent. The room size and furniture was just great. They also have very good restaurant and common areas too. Highly recommended.
Beautiful hotel, rooms, included breakfasts and overall value. Truely a great and memorable experience. The hotel is used for business functions and weddings, especially on weekends, so be prepared for the hotel to focus on these events somewhat at he expense of guests.
This is a beautiful castle to stay at. The views are fantastic and the room stunning. We will stay there again.
Due to very positive feedback on booking.com we had high expectations on this hotel which did not come true. A pity because we really were looking forward to have a great time at this hotel. Positive things are the hotel/castle which is beautifully restored, situated on a hill overlooking the village. Fresh fruit during breakfast. Friendly cleaning staff. Unfriendly and unpersonal approach upon arrival at the reception desk. Due to a wedding we were not allowed to use the swimmingpool (no excuses or compensation were offered). It took more than three minutes before the shower water was somewhat tepid. Very bad reception at satellite tv. Very hard beds.
stunning hotel, very large room, very good restaurant. Staff extremely helpful. Wonderful view. I would have liked sky TV in the room
The hotel had a lot of character (castle dating back to the 8th century) and was one of the nicest ones I have been to in a while. The staff was very friendly and aiming to make our stay a good one.
Roberta and Manuel were generous, warm and hospitable. We felt welcomed and appreciated. There was no question how proud they are about the area of Italy they live in. The food in the hotle restaurant was fabulous, our accommodation comfortable. We loved staying with you/ Nothing toadd to above
Anti pasti and pasta course in restaurant superb. Room and bathroom spacious and bed comfortable. Meat course overcooked and the wine a disappointment considering the first 2 courses. Breakfast only ok if you like sweet things.
It was a bit far from the highway but the location was very nice, in a middle of the olive fields and there are some very nice small towns to stop by. The room was big and very clean, Italian styled breakfast was just perfect ! The hotel staffs were very plite but not so friendly.
Very friendly and helpful staff, food was excellent and reasonably priced. Stayed on 2 separate occasions, the second time the room was not as good as the first time as we had a disabled toilet!
Excellent value. Friendly staff. Great food. Clean, bright room.
The hotel was pleasant and the apartment gave the kids and us space.
Friendly professional staff, good food and breakfasts, nice decor and very clean. Could have been more information in the room re hotel and local attractions.
Quiet, very clean. Good value for the price. No safe for valuables at front desk or in room. But staff accommodated me anyways.
Value for money. Restaurant. The situation is not good. how have the developments around the hotel been allowed to happen?
Very practical and good value for money hotel in the region.
