Friendly helpful staff, comfortable rooms, decent food, well situated for Loughborough First stay in bika was quite noisy, maybe due to proximity to bar. Would not book that again. Second night in louis was perfect. Would book again.

Nice rooms, ours was facing the garden at the back. I like the quarkiness of the rooms. It was good to have a restaurant in the hotel and the food was good. The staff were friendly. Also, it is located in a nice village, 10 minutes drive from Loughborough, which is where we had to be one early morning. Not much comes to mind. A little gripe: we appreciated the Molton Brown toiletries, but only one little bottle of shower gel?

Warm welcome. Spacious room. Dinner main meal very poor (both our meals). Based on other hotels I have stayed at, this is over-priced for what it is.

Food very good and value for money, and served in very nice dining area. Staff very helpful and attentive. Great choice of real ale in the bar. Room comfortable and quiet. The room was very dark - (Fagin) - understandable as a result of the dark red colour scheme. However, couldn't even see into the wardrobe - needs far better lighting options - understand that other rooms don't have the same issue.
Nothing! The room and hotel were so bad, we did not stay for our second night, but chose to drive 200 miles home instead. The room was damp and musty, there is a club in the middle of the hotel that I do not recall seeing mentioned on the website, that was open until 2am, the toilets for the club were opposite our room door.

a friendly bar - and bar staff no sign of management the quilt interior was dirty and rough - it could not be replaced on the first night no staff available, was replaced on night 2 with excellent clean linnen and quilt - Saturday night was a riot, the noise outside was awfull - not warned - no sleep until the early hours
Staff friendly and obliging Some of the staff had difficulty with english and remembering what we had ordered but compensated by going the extra mile. Coded entry to both hotel and bedrooms was a bit of a chore.
Wonderful old historic inn. Pleasant pub. Staff very helpful Parking is something of a problem. Furniture is old, but clean and comfortable. Most people would be bothered by the Saturday night crowd that gats a rocking party going about midnight right outside the window. . .but we were forwarned, and so exhausted, we could have slept through the Normandy invasion!
Clean and Tidy, not noisy on the Thursday night we stayed. Couldn't fault it's cleanliness. It was what it was, a town centre pub/small hotel.
Nothing Room decor was shabby ,bedside lamp did not work, unplesant odour from shower room and in hallway,no reception therefore checked in,in hallway. Curtains thin matrial therfore street light shone through.
It was cheap and the staff were helpful Room not double glazed. Soundproofing between rooms not brilliant.
The hotel is in a good location in Ashby and we have stayed here on many occasions in the past. You get what you pay for and it is adequate for our needs. We had a bad experience this time round as having asked the barmaid what time breakfast was in the morning, she gave us the wrong times. We only realised this when we got up for breakfast and was told that it had finished 20 minutes earlier. Even after we explained that we had been told those times by their staff, the hotel staff that were on in the morning did nothing to apologise or even offer to make us something to make up for their mistake.
