9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location in beautiful old farmhouse surrounded by fruit trees in walled garden, but on outskirts of town so walking distance to a handful of good local traditional Galician restaurants. Great base for visiting Santiago which is an easy 25 minute drive, and exploring the region and beautiful coastline. Excellent breakfast and such a lovely and friendly owner and staff!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Bed and bedroom were good with good powers shower. The breakfast was excellent. With fresh eggs from their chickens, fruit from their trees and fresh cakes every day. The owner and staff were lovely and could not have been more helpful. The pool was really nice sourounded by the beautiful garden and almost for our sole use as not used very much by other guests.
Cons: Wi fi slow and can't always access in bedrooms and certain parts of the house. ( This is due to the thick stone walls). Tennis court is in very poor condition and no proper net. Table tennis bats need replacing and leg of table needs fixing There are fiesta's in surrounding villages in August and music can go on to early morning. If you shut the window you can't hear the noise but there is no air con so you have to put the fan on all night and even then it can be slightly warm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property with lovely hostess. Couldn’t have been more helpful. Went out of there way.
Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like a hidden secret.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This little family place is a perl. The staff were so kind and service minded - they even drove us to restaurants and the supermarket. The place has a wonderful pool area and garden. We stayed 2 days on our camino and the place is worth the detour - you will be on the camino again after 2 km. Thanks for a fantastic stay :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved Casa da Torre so much I changed my Camiño plans to arrange to come back 6 days later with my daughter!! It’s a beautiful property with amazing, caring staff that treat you like royalty from the time you step in until you leave!!
Cons: NOTHING!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was an amazing casa with friendly, caring staff. We were early and greeted by Juan, Romona Isabella. Treated us like family-helped with much needed laundry and we slept in peace and quiet! Went to O Candil for dinner and had delicious tapas, salad, wine and beer for under $23 euros!! Isabella made omelettes to order and Romona was baking Santiago cake for part of breakfast when we returned from exploring the city and dinner!! And the entire breakfast which you request the time you’d like it was fabulous!!
Cons: Not one thing!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I can’t praise this place enough. It had everything one could expect and then some more. The property is slightly off the beaten track but well worth the detour. From the moment we arrived we were looked after. Our bikes were taken and stored securely. We were given a tour of the beautiful common areas , the beautiful gardens and the pool area before then being shown to our room. The attention to detail in the interior decor of house and bedrooms was notable. Wood, stone, tile and wallpaper combine to make this a very beautiful residence. The Casa Is run very professionally but they also care about their guests Towels arrived poolside followed by iced water. We enquired about dinner and were driven and collected, as were others, from a restaurant in the town about 1km away. Laundry was hung out for us while we wined and dined. There was no extra charge for any of these services. Breakfast was again excellent as could only be expected from top notch hosts. We are promising to return for a holiday without the bikes next time!
Cons: There was nothing to dislike
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Words cannot adequately describe my stay at this remarkable venue. Casa da Torre is truly unique. Imagine visiting distant relatives from another country. You may not speak the same language, but the bond is immediate and tangible. I have traveled far and wide, however I have yet to experience a place so wonderful, so welcoming and so charming as Casa da Torre. It is a gem among gems. Every possible need was anticipated and or met with smiles and reassurances. I will always look back on my stay with the fondest of memories.

Pros: Finn and Maria are excellent hosts
Cons: Nothing to dislike
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The place is spotless clean and breakfast was all prepared when I woke up. The location is on the Camino so super easy to find. The host was extremely kind and helpful. The room was nicely heated and I was given an extra blanket.
Cons: If your next stop is Santiago, you would need to get up a bit earlier as you need to walk through the city.
7.0 Good
Pros: This is the first hostel that northbound pilgrims will see when walking into town. There are several restaurants only a five minute walk into town. The kitchen was tiny but stocked with basics (e.g., salt, tea, vinegar, pasta) and plenty of kitchen supplies, which was nice. The breakfast consisted of sliced wonder bread and jam (only one toaster) and packaged pastries. Nobody seemed to know how the coffee maker worked. The bunks were clean and have an interior light, electrical outlet and privacy curtain. Nearby lockers were large and easily could fit a 40 L backpack. Not much floor space, so the lockers were necessary. The male staff member offered to set a heater in the area where hiking shoes are kept on shelves - after a day of walking through heavy downpours, it was a treat to have dry shoes to put on in the morning - thank you!!
Cons: The bathroom area was relatively clean, but there was limited soap and no paper towels for proper hand-washing (very important when living in such close quarters). The hostel was at capacity the night I stayed (unsure how many beds, but guessing approx 30 beds). Because only a thin door separated the kitchen from the sleeping area, I would have appreciated the staff asking guests chatting in the kitchen to keep the volume lower after 22:00. Otherwise, a pleasant stay!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, towels, privacy curtains, warm showers.
Cons: All good, no issues
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice bunks with curtains Good kitchen Area to sit outside Good facilities Good staff
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Well kept quiet space, clean with great beds an showers.
Cons: The only bit that would have capped off the experience was, there wasn't much of an option to dry out my clothes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s owned by a brother and a sister! They are extremely attentive. The place is located right in front of the Camino! I will definitely stay there next year :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really nice host, helped us a lot and was very kind. Good breakfast that comes with the price of the bed.

Pros: beautiful house, lovely friendly owners, comfortable bed, peaceful sleep, delicious breakfast and close to the camino! perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: traditional Spanish house. spotlessly clean fantastic hosts
Cons: nothing
5.8 Okay
Cons: We wrote regarding check-in time 4 months ago, telling them that our ETA was about 14 hours. We got to the place nobody present. It was raining and they had as waiting a full hour. I tried to help with the luggage and the owner in angry voice told that that was his duty. I didn’t answer, but his duty was to be present when customers arrive, to answer mails, to give proper indications regarding arrival time and to show flexibility when customers that have been 29 km in foot under the rain come, customers that are paying as much as for a good hotel in Santiago with permanent reception. Furthermore the WiFi doesn’t work in the room. Finally a small room is occupied by a big closet that you have no access to.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The house is beautiful with character. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. You can enjoy dinner at the house or at a near by nice restaurant. Same for breakfast.
Cons: The view from the room is a gas station. Room is very basic with no coffee machine or kettle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Authentic atmosphere, wonderful hosts, beautiful room with an extra confusing bed
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great place and the meal was fantastic. Thank you very much
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When we walked the Camino for 18 days in Portugal this was our favourite place we stayed. Our hosts went above and beyond making us comfortable and we’re so glad it was our last night before reaching Santiago. We had a beautiful dinner in their elegant dining room which we shared with 2 other Pilgrims. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer ending to our pilgrimage. Restaurant a few steps away is excellent for breakfast or any other meal also, and they open at 7am!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The host was very friendly. The room was clean and the facilities good. It is located, not far from the Camino route, a couple of kilometres past Padrón making the last day's walk to Santiago a bit shorter.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were excelent and kept very clean. The beds are comfortable and there was lots of cuboard/shelf space to unpack the suitcase, the bathroom was good with a bath and shower overhead, again very clean. The desk staff were very welcoming and helpfull. The weather was not the best but the swimming pool looked very nice, and the water well treated and clean.
Cons: The only negative for myself was the location, as I expected to be on the beach and this hotel is one street back from the beach, also it is a reasonable walk into Vilagarcia. For anyone travelling on business or wanting a family holiday to enjoy the beach and just relax it is good, for myself I wanted to use the railway station (1 mile away) and the towns resaurants and bars.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s perfect every part of the hotel was good the staff could not be more helpful thanks for a lovely time
Cons: Nothing
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Not for me !!! Not friendly, and a bit rude ( the owner)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was in good proximity to many restaurants and shops. The hotel staff are wonderful and very helpful. The cleaners do a superb job every day cleaning the rooms. The fresh orange juice at breakfast is just beautiful. I would stay here again.
Cons: I like everything about the property. I would say the only thing it is missing is a kettle in the bedroom to make a cup of tea when you come back from a long day but that is just a preference as I love tea. It’s a great hotel with great staff!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the best hotels on the Camino! Excellent all the way!

Pros: The very clean, the pool was lovely and the location Is right opposite the beach & restaurants. The breakfast was bountiful.
Cons: Quite pricey for one room €61

7.5 Good
Pros: This is a cute and cosy little property in the hills. Lovely colours and furnishings. The owners are very friendly and attentive. The approach to the building is a little interesting, but don't let that put you off.
Cons: Windows were small and no views, but room was cooler than I thought it would be. Barking dogs in the hills can be a bit of a nuisance.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice little hotel with a nice garden and very friendly hosts. Nice clean room and a very good breakfast. Also had dinner at the hotel one night which was really good. Easy parking on the street. If I ever were to visit this area again I would most likely stay here again.
Cons: I traveled with a dog and the hotel is located in the middle of a residential area where everyone seems to have at least one dog so my dog was a bit stressed about all the barking dogs when taking walks.
7.9 Good
Pros: - The owners are friendly and very helpful, particularly with knowledge of the local area. - Nice buffet breakfast (cereals, fruits, cured meats and cakes). - Big, quiet garden with plenty of bouncy green grass. - Relatively short walk down the hill to the beach (~10mins) or to the town (~15-20mins).
7.5 Good
Pros: Really nice hosts Excellent breakfast Lovely cats
Cons: Rooms are nicely decorated, bathrooms are in need of modernization. No restaurants close by (nearest restaurants are +/- 15 minutes walk)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a superb family property which is run to an exceptional standard. It’s clean, comfortable and very homely. The owners are always on hand, nothing was too much trouble. The evening meal they prepared was beyond our expectations. I urge anyone who stays at the property to sample their cooking.
Cons: Absolutely nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: They have a big garden where you can relax. The room and the breakfast were excellent! I totally recommend it
6.3 Good
Pros: Part 1: This is a beautiful guesthouse but not suitable for pilgrims walking the variant espiritual to Santiago. 1/it is 500 metres off the Camino, up a hill 2/ it's a little difficult to find. In fact, I found the entrance by accident! 2/ There is no sello to stamp your credential 3/ There was no one to answer the bell or open the door at 14:30. I entered the property myself through 2 unlocked doors and had to wait (only about 10 minutes) for someone to arrive. 4/ Breakfast is only available from 9am-11am. 5/ Like many houses in Spain, the acoustics of the house magnify every sound so even small noises become loud enough to wake you. This phenomenon is quite noticeable here. However, these are only minor inconveniences and not a big problem with such a comfortable guesthouse. But something very strange happened there this morning. Long and kind of unbelievable story but... Breakfast IS INCLUDED in the room rate and at check-in, the woman offered to leave the breakfast for me in the dining area because I had to leave at 8am. It is quite usual for places to leave the breakfast out the night before so guests who leave early can serve themselves. I thanked her and paid my big. So at 7:30am this morning, I came downstairs, expecting some bread so I could make a tostada con mermelada, and maybe some juice. But instead of breakfast I found a bag (with a nice post-it note saying PICNIC). It was 2 meat sandwiches (don't eat meat), some fruit and cake but nothing to drink. A miscommunication, because I never ordered a picnic, but no matter. I took the fruit and cake but left the sandwiches because I don't waste food. Then I found a cup and turned on the coffee-maker. Big mistake! A man appeared and berated me in Spanish for making noise with the coffee maker at 7:30am. I didn't know who this man was, the manager? Another guest? I apologised and went to my room.
Cons: Part Two...the crazy long story continues... About an hour later, just before 9am, I was walking past the gas station on the way out of town when a man got out of a car and approached me. I didn't immediately recognise that it was the man from the guesthouse. When you are a woman walking the Camino alone, sometimes men will approach you on road and try to stop you so you have to be careful. I didn't feel too unsafe though, because there were other people and cars around. Anyway, I recognised him and was confused. What now?... Well, apparently he had driven there and waited for me to pass by so he could confront me again! This time he berated me for my 'angry' note about the sandwiches. I told him that I am a peregrina that has been walking the Camino for 5 weeks. With 2 days left before reaching Santiago, anger is definitely not one of the many emotions I am feeling today. He had misinterpreted my short note. He berated me again for using the coffee machine at 7:30am. Please note that this noise lasted for less than 2 minutes. He said it disturbs the peace and quiet of the other guests. I told him that I understand the acoustics of the building magnifies every sound. I also mentioned that last night after midnight, some other occupants disturbed the peace and quiet of the house by talking, watching TV, walking around and taking a long shower. He said that's not his problem and I agreed but I unlike him, I did not approach them and confront them about the noise they made. I just waited 40-60 minutes for the noise to stop. He then told me I was 'ungrateful' because I didn't take the picnic. He said that it is not something they usually do for people. There is however a poster in reception advertising their 'picnic' for €7. I told him I definitely didn't order a picnic and that I was not angry. I understand now that he was angry that I rejected something he usually charges for. I explained that I am not ungrateful.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location and a good atmosphere.
Cons: The room was great but it was like living in the bar and even though we are really social- the noise until 4 am, both mornings we stayed would have a problem if we stayed another night!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stylish and very comfortable stay! Perfect for my working trip to Vilagarcía. If I ever return I will definitely stay here again!
Cons: Nothing
6.3 Good
Pros: I knew all the area already cause my parents live there! It is a little place with few rooms, the recepción is the bar downstairs, clean room, our bathroom came with jacuzzi ,that for us, was the only good thing the two nights we stayed
Cons: If you want to sleep at nighttime, don’t go during summer time, there is a bar downstairs and our room was right above, I did not sleep for the two nights, first night everybody left the place at 2am and second night it was 3am and people still talking loudly!

Pros: Great place. Great people

6.3 Good
Pros: A newly stone built hotel full of character with friendly staff and good food.
Cons: Somewhat difficult access for car travellers although the private garage was excellent. The hotel is on the pilgrim route and, therefore , can be very busy and noisy. The immediate surroundings are not that inspiring.
5.0 Okay
Pros: We booked a twin room and the booking went to the hotel as a double room. No help was given to us by the receptionist who seemed rather annoyed at our dismay.
Cons: The receptionist was very unhelpful however all other staff were brilliant. There were no bicycles available although advertised. The breakfast was very scant and no help was proffered to assist us in our choices.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, lovely grounds and pool. Great breakfast. It is a great place which is not being used to its optimum and maybe why there were only 3 other rooms occupied the night we were there.
Cons: The staff seemed to treat this as their own home and not a hotel which made us feel uncomfortable. Charging 3 euros for a beer that you can buy for 4.5 euros for 6 at the supermarket is seriously excessive and much more than anywhere else we encountered in Spain or Portugal. Both courses of food we ordered were also given at the same time which was bizarre.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Dinner was delicious. The place is gorgeous. Hosts picked us up from town, right on the Camino trail.
Cons: All great.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff. They were the best. Followed by the facilities, the room was well appointed and the decor excellent
Cons: Nothing

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel in a restored Manor house. Have stayed here on an other occasion when we were allocated a mini suite . Reception staff friendly and responsive to requests. (They provided a stand alone wifi router, as the main wifi network had broken down and was being repaired). On this occasion were given a large and comfortable room on the ground floor. The hotel's restaurant offers good food at reasonable prices. Breakfast was a very reasonable buffet. There area good sea food restaurants reasonably near by in the village of Carril.
Cons: Not much. We were there in what is now the off season so not many customers which perhaps reflects a bit on the level of staffing of the restaurant/bar.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My 4th time there and always a perfect experience! I love it in all his aspects...in particular the lovely staff...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant was very enjoyable. The food was delicious and the staff and manager were very welcoming. Also, I enjoyed walking around the beautiful hotel and well-kept property.
Cons: The ventilation in my room was not good. I finally opened the window which helped, but it was still a disappointment.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room ,lovely helpful staff especially Chris and Chantal. Great to have choice of evening meal in either restaurant of cafe bar Great G and Ts
Cons: Restaurant where we had breakfast was a bit tired looking. You need a car to explore the area(we had one )
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything.. This Hotel is FANTASTIC, the staff are excellent, the owner is friendly and informative... the rooms are spacious, clean and very well decorated. The food is delicious (18 euros for the three course set menu as well as la carte) The building is Historic and in my opinion on par with many of the Paradors.. It is truly a beautiful Hotel, thoughtfully decorated and furnished to a very high standard. This hotel for the price is INCREDIBLE... and one we would love to return to.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old building
Cons: Restaurant could use some atmosphere. Forgot my wake up call (set your own phone)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We only stayed for 1 night on our way North so a little difficult to judge but it was clean, friendly people on reception, the room was huge and the view was nice and the breakfast was good. It felt a little dated but that wouldn't be a reason not to visit.

Cons: There was no kitchen to use. No microwave. No fridge. No opportunity to cook anything. Not even boiled water. I had no place to store my food. Pros: Picturesque location on main square, right across from the church! Very friendly and helpful host, Santi, also runs the bar/ coffeecounter and makes great coffee and tostada in the morning! Comfortable bunks with individual plugs, lamps and privacy curtains, roomy bathroom/shower facilities, and the benefit of being able to have a refreshing drink after the long walk into town, as well as that first important coffee early in the morning righton site!
Cons: Initially we were a bit concerned about the main square location and potential noise issues. However, mostly pedestrian traffic and the lack of late night restaurants in the square made for a peaceful night - even with all windows open due to the warm temperatures!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was an excellent hostel for Camino walkers. The facilities were very good and clean. Bunks were large with curtains and plug sockets. Towels were provided. The host took the time to show us around using Google translate (due to our embarrassing lack of Spanish) which was very kind. Breakfast was available from 6am which was perfect for the last day of the Camino.

Pros: Loved the location and our room. We had an excellent night's rest!
Cons: Climbing up so many stairs

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very modern functional hostel with good facilities on outskirts of town. Bunk beds in dormitories of 12 or 16. Staff helpful- requested lower bunks which had v good head space. Individual lights and plugs. No curtains on bunks. Lockers available. Probably better if boots kept in corridor rather in dormitory. Communal areas bright and spacious with Ikea furnishings although probably could be overcrowded if hostel busy. Surrounded by modern housing blocks but well lit area with a couple of bars and traditional local restaurant nearby.
5.8 Okay
Cons: Check-in terrible, nobody at reception at 6pm, didnt answer phone calls (6x), we wait 25min till somebody comes. No explanation, no apology. Staff doesnt speak english.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Right on camino walking path, modern, clean with very comfortable beds, that all you need when you on camino walking path. There is couple wending machines as you will need some snacks or something to drink. Check in was smooth as butter despite it was after opening hours, you just need to do that in next door restaurant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is beautiful, u have a big living room and u can cook. And washing machine and drying are amazing! (u have to pay 3 + 3 euros but it is worth it). I would stay there again.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly receptionist Private and comfortable beds with great blankets Clean and cosy
Cons: They could use another washing machine and dryer. As there was a queue to use

Pros: Great location, nice kitchen suitable for cooking. Laudry and dryer were very welcomed. Nice common room with armchairs and couch. Comfy beds with charger and small lamp. Boxes with key for 1E.
7.9 Good
Pros: Bunk rooms were nicely arranged to maximize privacy. Tons of space for everyone, very clean.
Cons: For some reason, it was very difficult to get from these particular ladders onto the top bunk. Sleep on the bottom, if you can.

Pros: Convenient for town & coast
Cons: It was so noisy at night, all night. It might have been better if we had had a room at the back, but we were over the street & had an outside light illuminating our room all night too.

9.2 Excellent
Cons: Conditioner doesn't blow cold air.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Room was allright. Although located near the highway - not so much travel noise.
Cons: I was surprised to see that for the price I paid at booking, I would have got a hydromassage suite if I paid at the location. That was a dissapointment. Furthermore I think it’s an excellent place for people to commit adultery (so prepare for this if you decide to go, you might have loud neighbors) not so much to stay for a holliday.
7.1 Good
Pros: This is not an ordinary hotel/motel in rural Galicia. My guess is that it is a place for trysts and affaires and sexual encounters. Fine by me, but I think there should be a better description of the place so that those of us who are not in need of the anonymity of a closed garage, an ultra private room and a 12 hour room rental won’t inadvertently end up here, feeling confused and bewildered.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, the space, the localization, the staff, everything. It was the perfect place after a few crowed albergues. It’s maybe like 50m off the Camino, but it’s ok. You can eat diner or breakfast 5 min away from there. It was really perfect.
6.0 Good
Pros: Peace and quiet after many Albergues on the camino. Great rural view from window. Rest at before santiago.
Cons: Common area downstairs not very appealing. Lacked furniture. Required you to go out and back in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Claen comfortable quiet. Great after some terrible nights in Alburgued
6.0 Good
Pros: A pleasant idyllic looking pension just off the camino
Cons: Very, very small room
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location! Also, very calm and pretty, with a supermarket in a gas station 10min walking distance. Even though there's nobody to check you in, they're just 5min away from a phone call.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful location in a small village on the route to Santiago but still close to the restaurant and a little supermarket. It shortened our way to Santiago on the last day.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a sweet little 4 room guesthouse in the middle of vineyards in a very small picturesque village about 10 minutes walk from the main road and camino trail. You need to phone someone initially, to get in, but they are very quick to respond. The room is basic, but the beds are good, the bathroom is very good (large, clean, good hot water) and the room has a beautiful view over the valley and vineyards. Quiet and rural. There is a cluster of little restaurants down by the road and I had a tortilla at Novegil that was a work of art. A huge creamy wedge of potato, I have never had such a good one! This was a great last stop on the Portuguese camino if you don't want a long last day from Padron. Only about 12 km walking to Santiago, all on nice trails.
