Pros: We picked this place due to the reviews and the location for us and nothing disappointed. The food is amazing, all home cooked and mostly homegrown. Slava and Lucy were excellent hosts, chatty, friendly and helpful. The room was big, the shower great and the beds comfy, what more can you ask. I thoroughly recommend it.
Pros: The owner went out of her way to make sure that all was well. She brought an extra heater for our room, she told us their history, she asked when we would like dinner and gave us options. She cooks really well. Her husband also has a hand in the kitchen. They also have a new baby lamb, that has no mother and they are feeding it etc. This was a look back to the time that hosts cooked fine meals and treated guests like house-guests
Cons: This is real country. I like that, but many might find it too quiet.
Pros: Lovely place, we stayed in the studio which sleeps five and has a fully functioning kitchen (proper oven and hob). We didn't use it though as we had the Table D'hote evening meal which was superb. Hosts are super friendly and helpful. Organic winery within 5 minutes walk.
Pros: Very beautiful place and friendly host. The 4 course dinner was homemade (from their own garden), excellent and very affordable.
Pros: We visited Lucy and Slava (forgive me for the wrong spelling!) on our motorbike trip. A great family athmosphere! Lovely night in the inner courtyard. Delicius dinner. Spacy rooms, secured area for parking, great breakfast..the list won't end. Great day of our life, meeting them and this location on the trip. Our very best to you! Full recommondation!
Cons: We needed to move on!
Pros: A lovely stone house with very spacious rooms (including a kitchenette). The hosts, a Russian-Ukrainian couple, were very friendly and helpful. Dinner was served in the garden and was very delicious, with local ingredients, some even from their own garden. Although it is on a main street, the room was very quiet and the view from the garden was amazing. We went with our 3 young kids and they all enjoyed the stay.
Cons: Dinner was a bit late, particularly for the kids.
Pros: The moment you enter the courtyard, you will fall in love. The hospitality of the owners, excellent cuisine, well-appointed rooms, and the beautiful grounds compliment the ideal location of this property. It is centrally located near several Cathar castles, ancient grottoes and of course, local vineyards with delicious wine. We are looking forward to our return visit.
Cons: The only way it could've been better is if we had stayed longer!
Pros: Exceptional hosts and a superb meal.
Pros: The Hostess is here is lovely friendly and chatty, made a good impression, she even gave me a bigger room so more like a small apartment. the accommodation is set in a courtyard and a lovely feel to it, the breakfast was continental but the best of the 5 hotels I stayed at on this visit, as far as choice of items even fresh boiled eggs were on the menu. The village is small but has a small convenience store (a little further down the road is a larger Carrefour) and restaurant. The location is quiet (just how I like it) but they do have bus connections to Perpignan and beyond, the bus I was on was clean on time and no negative points.
Cons: No negative points
When you stay at Hostellerie du Grand Duc in Gincla, you'll be in the mountains and 8 minutes by car from Chateau de Puilaurens. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: wine list and bon table
Pros: Lovely hotel in a nice quiet valley, you have a great view of the forest from all windows. The rooms are quite big and well equipped. Unlike other hotels I saw in France, there is almost zero disturbance from other guests (from noisy hallways or doors/locks). Breakfast is rather expensive (12€), but big buffet with everything you need (largest selection we saw during our trip). Dinner in the evening is also strongly recommend, for many guests one of the main reasons to come here. Family-owned with very kind, friendly and dedicated personal. We know this place for nearly 20 years and can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone searching for some rest, good food, wine and walks / hikes in lovely surrounding.
Pros: We loved everything about this hotel...the room, the bed and pillows, the shower, and most especially the restaurant!
Pros: A wonderful location. Food, ambiance and staff attention all excellent. A perfect stay.
Pros: Food was absolutely amazing
Pros: Hotel was pleasant enough but the restaurant was outstanding.
Cons: View from our room
Pros: Great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful spot.
Pros: The building is exquisite set in a tiny village. The rooms beautifully furnished and comfortableThe facilities and friendly service were excellent. I cannot rate the food highly enough. Altogether a wonderful experience. It's not our first time to visit and I certainly hope it wont be our last.
