When you stay at Rectoral de Anllo in Sober, you'll be 14 minutes by car from Gargantas del Sil. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The place is really beautiful, no neighbors at close distance, nice yoga room and living room
Cons: WiFi awful, they charge every kind of extra...if you ask for some hot water seems like they are giving it for free whilst instead you’ll find the bill updated at the checkout. A gin and tonic they charge 10 euros! Breakfast costs 8 euros but it’s very poor, coffee it’s very bad. Overall I didn’t like the customer care attitude at all.
Pros: The staff, especially the owner Nacho. The historic building. The grounds: flowers, fruit trees, etc. Clean room, delicious breakfast with many homemade products.
Cons: Nothing that I can think of.
Pros: Great rural location with an eccentric, quirky and very charming owner
Cons: Our ground floor room was very hot even with the windows open all night.
Pros: Good communications with our hosts before we arrived at this delightful accommodation in a quiet, peaceful rural setting. Our check-in and introduction to our room and the other facilities were easy. Rectoral has been beautifully renovated and appointed. Our spacious room had views over the valley and a modern bathroom with an external window through the thick stone wall. We enjoyed our 2 dinners and breakfasts with attentive service and appreciated the travel advice and local knowledge of our hosts
Cons: The wifi was flaky and didn't reach our room on the story below the nearest modem in reception so we had to go upstairs to do basic travel-planning tasks
Pros: Fabulous location, stunning room with balcony and wonderful views, food was excellent and was a lovely warm evening for the meal in the garden, hosts friendly and attentive, home was stunning and very quirky and unique, if you are in the area I can’t recommend this wonderful place enough.
Cons: What is there not to like?? Fabulous stay in a peaceful and tranquil setting.
Pros: Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would definitely go back
Pros: This is a very wonderful and very special place. The food and wine are excellent and we were very well looked after by very lovely folk. A highlight in living.
Cons: Nothing at all.
Pros: We booked for a two night stay and extended to a third as we enjoyed our time here so much. The accommodation was comfortable, breakfast was good and we especially enjoyed dinner. We had a slight difficulty getting access to WiFi which was quickly resolved by Nacho, who also helped us with planning our visit to the area. Our stay was one of the high points of our holiday.
Pros: Excellent experience. Starting from the management of the house up to the location and the food they prepare (something to try!).
Set in the stunning natural surroundings of the Ribeira Sacra, this quaint and modern hotel is the ideal place to explore the mountains and river valleys in this region of Galicia. Enjoy views of the countryside from the hotel. You can also participate in a wealth of outdoor activities here and go on cultural excursion such as the Monastery Route. This is the ideal place to get away from it all and relax in a beautiful natural setting.
Pros: The staff is very helpfull.
Cons: Absolutely fantastic. We had only one problem: Unfortunately we had the room right below the rooftop and without windows (there was only small window in the ceiling, that's why in the room was even in the night terribly unpleasant air. We had only really small AC, but it was like nothing... So if you don't take the rooms below the roof, you would be absolutely happy, because otherwise the hotel is really nice, very clean and people there are honestly very kind.
Pros: The shower temperature control was very different, didn't figure out how to use it at first but then it made all the sense. The towels were great, my girlfriend complimented them a lot. Super confortable bed with big pillows. The fragrance of the whole building was very pleasurable. And finaly, the breakfast was great!
Cons: Everything was quite perfect! The only thing that missed was a windows. It was a windowless room, yet there was a very small roof window, as it was in the last floor.
Pros: The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, the breakfasts excellent and the decor a lovely blend of local materials in stone and wood. The hotel boasts a beautiful upstairs gallery where you can sit with panoramic views over, the square next to the monastery and over the the hills behind this quaint Galician village. The perfect place for a quiet restful few days in beautiful surroundings.
Pros: The location, the amability of staff, nice decoration of room and bathroom.
Cons: There is not reception 24h after 21:00h, you have to call before go to room.
Pros: Location of the hotel, availability of the staff, quality of the rooms
Cons: Noisy because of wooden floors;
Offering free bikes and a garden with mountain views and barbecue facilities, Apartamentos Riosil is located in Bolmente, a 45-minute drive from Ourense. Free WiFi and free parking are available. Air-conditioned apartments come with 1 or 2 bedrooms and all have a sofa bed and a flat-screen TV. The private bathroom comes with a hairdryer and free toiletries. There is a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine. Towels and bed linen are provided. You can go cycling in the surrounding area and there is a golf course nearby.
Pros: We had a self-contained unit at this property located in the beautiful countryside near the Canon del Sil in Bolmente. The unit was modern, spacious, comfortable and very clean. It was very well equipped (even a toaster was provided) and the property has both outdoor and indoor BBQ facilities. Guests can use the commercial standard washing machines and driers in the property, which were very good. Suzanne, our host had arranged for relatives who could speak some English to help us with check-in, which was very helpful and a nice touch. We enjoyed the view from the balcony over the property and out to the surrounding countryside each afternoon and early evening of our stay. The property is also very close to a couple of the miradores (viewpoints) of the Canon del Sil - A Cividade and Bouqueirino, both very spectacular.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
Pros: The apartment, the host, the environments and views
Pros: A very helpful landowner
Located in Nogueira de Ramuin, A Casa da Eira is in a rural location, a 3-minute drive from Sil Canyon and 7 minutes from Miradoiro de Pe do Home. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
Pros: The house is a very cozy country home. It has got a lot of character and it's very comfortable. The owner, Adolfo, is very friendly and helpful. He even gave us free coffee and toast in the morning for free. He gave us lots of information and maps about the area (what to visit, walks...).
Pros: I loved the area and the host was very friedly and helpful.
Pros: Characterful and quiet. Great location for the Gorge de Sil
Cons: Parking ok for small car only
Pros: Attention of the owners (great hints to visit the area), dream-house decorated with style and fashion. Located in a quiet rural area, magnificent garden available for the guests, rooms equipped with everything you'll need during your stay at Eira.
Cons: our stay was too short (hopefully will be repeated someday)
Located in Sober, Casa Grande de Rosende is in the mountains, within a 15-minute drive of Torre da Homenaxe do Castelo de Lemos and Castelo de Monforte de Lemos. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: It's like staying in a museum. Very beautiful old stone building. The old open fire kitchen is very nice but they only put it on at 10 pm at night. It is near some really nice hiking trails and they give you plenty of information about walks.
Cons: They have hair-dryers available on request but it is not stated anywhere. It was very cold but thankfully they gave us a small fan heater. The road to get there is in very bad repair. The bathroom was damp with peeling paint and mould. There was no phone signal and the WiFi didn't really work. The breakfast is 8€ per person for some cakes or toast.
Pros: Very beautiful and well-kept manor, with a rich history, beautiful and interesting design. Each room is something special and with its own history. Delicious breakfast, served in a separate breakfast room. Very friendly staff. The hotel is located very close to Canyon de Sil
Cons: A little hard without knowledge of Spanish, but the staff is trying very hard to help. Breakfast starts a little late
Pros: Very special place, with history, unique design, history, gardens, food, movie about the region at the hotel.
Pros: The enthusiastic and kind hospitality on my first visit to Casa Grande de Rosende is what made me want to come back. The breakfast is also delicious, served in a beautiful dining room looking out onto the courtyard. The house is magnificent, full of art, history, and plenty of nooks and curiosities.
Cons: Wifi is unreliable in this zone, in my experience, so I would not discount the property's overall rating for that. However, for business travel, it is a big problem because you cannot be sure if you will be able work online inside the house. I found myself wandering the courtyard and parking lot at all hours, in search of a signal to check emails and Whatsapps, but there are many worse places to wander! Some rooms are close together and the walls seem thin, so the house can can be noisy at times. This did not bother me, but some guests no doubt are looking for extreme quiet.
Pros: It was an amazing place, so historic and incredibly beautiful. The staff were extremely helpful. I would recommend it very highly
Pros: Beautiful location with a very nice atmosphere. The personnel was amazing, as well as the food and wine (both the white and red wines are fantastic)
Cons: The rooms were very noisy, the shower was not working properly and the garden was not well maintained
Pros: The rural Manor House is absolutely amazing. Beautiful location and the breakfast and dinner are fabulous. A special thanks to Miguel for all his help and atention to detail. Great place to visit the Ribeira Sacra.
