Pros: The proprietor was extremely friendly and conversational. He also cooked us an incredible dinner worthy of the best chefs. We also enjoyed meeting his 2 dogs. They made it seem like a home away from home.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely stay at Chaillac. On arrival Matthew welcomed us and showed us to our rooms: we had the family suite, which consisted of 2 separate rooms with double beds and our own bathroom with shower. Everything was very tidy and clean. Since the kids were a bit wild after a long car drive, he gave us the advice to go to walk to a nearby lake, which was a great success. After our swim we took a shower and went to the garden for dinner. Dinner was delicious: we are vegetarians and Matthew served the most wonderful vegetable dish and a delicious dessert. After a good night sleep we also enjoyed breakfast very much. Matthew was very kind to the children and showed them his dogs, which they liked a lot. We stayed here for a stop on our way to the south, and it was by far the best stop we ever had. Highly recommended!
Cons: Our double bed was a bit too short, toes hanging out of it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Matthew was a great host. Our room was beautifully decorated, clean and very comfortable. We had a relaxed stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Arrived later than expected due to having to deal with a puncture on the motorway and was warmly met by Matthew with much sympathy and reassurance that he could advise on a garage that would sort my repairs out the following morning. Shame I couldn't have eaten with him as from past visits I know he's a fantastic chef. The room was great , very spacious and with some lovely finishing touches . Had a very pleasant breakfast with excellent coffee ( very important ! ). Didn't have time to wander the village as I was a little pushed for time but from past experience it's a great place to either stop over or use as a base for exploring the area . Looking forward to my next visit.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is such a nice place to spend a night on your way up or down France. The rooms are spacious, clean and decorated in a welcoming way. The village is a lovely place for an evening stroll. And host Matthew cooks a delicious meal.

Overview Reviews
In the heart of the Berry and the Regional Park of Brenne, the DOMAINE RIS FIRE of 160 ha, with its manor of the XVth, its tower and its strong farm, is a place of meeting between the inheritance and the nature. The cottage "L'Anglin" is ideal to discover the nuggets that history has left around the Ris de Feu, in Brenne, Berry and Boischaut South south of the Indre 36. Nature paths of ponds in meadows, observatories in sandstone buttons reach out to you. For the buttons, Gargantua is not for nothing. I will tell you the story. On this land of treasures big and small, the kitchen of the house will allow you to experiment with local products, recipes Berry like the pumpkin, the cream of the father Michel, the cake with "calons" of the Solange, the deer jig in the manner of cousin Denise, eggs in donkey's balls and grandfather Renée's rissoles. After a Jacuzzi and / or a Sauna in the well-being area, the tranquility of the place invites you to take a nap and the little library of my childhood reaches you in the alcove. You will be immersed as soon as you arrive, in an old-time home atmosphere, where you enjoy spending your holidays as a couple, take a break, breathe and feel the passing of time. In the area, in complete privacy, on foot, by bike, you will discover along the 15 km of private marked paths, along the pond, vegetable garden, orchard, stream, Gallo-Roman springs and its bridge. The charming cottage of 70 m2 awaits you around a fire, with private lounge, bedroom, office area and bathroom. Summer and winter, the central heating wood, the traditional and ecological renovation offers you an optimal comfort in a sober and cordial environment. The suite of charming hosts is classified Charmance Ecogîte 5 EPIS at Gîte de France and La Clef Verte.

Pros: Beautiful, comfortable Rustic accommodation. Excellent hosts and peaceful forest surroundings.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: If you are looking for total piece and quiet, look no further. The domaine is literally in the middle of nature with lots of opportunities for hiking or cycling. The buildings are beautiful and breathe authenticity. It literally feels like you go back in time when you have breakfast in the morning in the impressive breakfast area. The little cottage that we stayed in was very comfortable, tastefully decorated and offered lots of privacy. Finally the family runs the domaine with a lot of passion and care for their guests but also for nature and the environment. This all made our stay an unforgettable experience and we will be back for sure!

Pros: Set in beautiful forest, this property has been beautifully renovated. Our bed was so comfortable and the surroundings blissfully quiet. Breakfast was delicious and our hosts very hospitable. Only a stopover but we were very well looked after. On arrival our hosts also booked us a table for the evening in nearby Pressac to eat.
Cons: The only negative was that it was incredibly hot and we did not even have a fan to help cool the room.

Pros: Perfect country getaway, Authentic French farm buildings. The owners have a superb sense of their heritage and one gets the impression that this is the real thing. Peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Our hosts were super friendly and helpful. Resto Leon in nearby village is simply fabulous (recommended by the the owners) and should not be missed. There is much to see in the surrounding area .....we could have stayed for two weeks no problem!
Cons: Not much except maybe a slightly musty smell from a cabinet in our room.......old antique smell which was not entirely unpleasant but might be irritating during a long stay.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: We stayed there last year, so you can see that we thought highly of it, because of choosing it again! The owners are charming, the rooms comfortable and breakfast good. We were made very welcome on the afternoon of our arrival and sat out on the terrace at the back, chatting with them. They booked a table for us at a restaurant nearby. The next morning they recommended a route north avoiding the autoroute and gave us a map of the area. If you're keen on bird-watching, then the Brenne is a must. There's a large and informative visitor centre. We plan to stay longer next year. As we were en route to Dieppe, we could only stay one night.
Cons: Nothing
