10.0 Excellent
Pros: Magali offers the option of cooking for you, and it's well worth it ... Dinner is simple and delicious, and includes nice touches such as Magali's home-baked baguettes and her urging to have second (even third!) helpings. Magali will share dinner with you, and she's a charming "dinner party" host - with very good English skills, and a great sense of humour. All room fittings - incl. bed linen, towels, etc - are of top quality - - - and it was great to find a shower that did not require one to watch Youtube video before understanding how it worked. Our stay here was one of the highlights of our time in France.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This is really a place with a character of its own, nice colours and works of art everywhere. The owner is an extremely friendly and welcoming lady. And she knows how to cook! Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, with very fresh products from the area. You would go back just for her home made wine! It is so quiet there, it is hard to believe that you are actually close to the highway.
Cons: The bedding is made from quite coarse linen, nice to look at, but less pleasant on your skin.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic host, great property with lots of character and charm. Home made bread and food made with love
Cons: A little off the beaten track if looking for a near motorway stop but worth allowing an extra 10 minutes to get there!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Getting in and feel welcomed as beeing at home - that is what it was when we arrived at Gontey. Thought as a might-be-a-good-place to stay for a night on our trip from Switzerland to Portugal the laiterie turned out to be a number-one-place. Highly recommendable!
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The host was really welcoming, the room really lovely and the breakfast excellent with high quality and homemade products. Definitely recommend this place.

Pros: Amazing building, full of charm & character. Our large room on the top floor was absolutely beautiful. Sympathetic restoration of an old house. Fantastic host. Great breakfast. Would love to go back & stay longer.
Cons: Nothing we didn't like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gaultier is the owner of this amazing place. it used to be a house of rich family that had winery in the area of the house. Gaultier took the place and renovated it completely and by that created a great place to stay in the country side. The breakfast is amazing and the view is breathtaking. a great bonus to all that is the fact that Gaultier is producing the soap by himself with ingredients from dead sea, which is making it a very high quality soap - you can also buy it from him for very reasonable price. thank you Gaultier

Pros: This place is a hidden gem. Shabby chic on the outside, chic on the inside! We had one of those evenings that we will remember for a long time here. A genuine welcome, a lovely room, superb food, wonderful wine and an entertaining evening spent with our host and other guests. After a sound nights sleep and a delightful breakfast we were in good shape to hit the road...although somewhat reluctant!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is more or less just a door on the street. Make sure you have the right key-code. It was a bit worrying but inside is beautifully finished and the breakfast is a 5 star continental quality. The Lady of the house had baked doughnuts and madelines, with the confitures being homemade also. She is a Physiotherapist and, very busy, but she still made time for us.
Cons: Two nights would have been better.

Cons: Details for finding the door of the hotel. Although I had the Street number I think a more obvious name on the property would have helped me to find it but Madame was so helpful as soon as we met her at her surgery.

Pros: Found this place by chance driving from Italy to the SW coast of France. What a gem! Really friendly owners who couldn’t have been more helpful - reserved me a table of dinner even though I hadn’t requested it as I was arriving late. Best was the absolutely delicious dinner and breakfast - all made with local produce - the best breakfast I had in France in a month! Lovely quiet spot, very clean and comfortable. Would definitely come back/recommend.

Cons: Wifi might have been better, but is always an issue in France

10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a lovely place to stay and what lovely hosts. We were made welcome immediately even though we arrived a bit early. The Chateau is beautiful and the grounds are relaxing to walk in. Our Hosts were both charming and interesting.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: You can't compare the Château de Chantelauze to a hotel; it is an experience. Mrs and Mr. Chantelauze are a great host and the tour of their private collection of exquisite objects is a must as it is to take part on their breakfast served at the big table inside the castle.
Cons: It is just about having the right expectation. The town near by is charming but there is no much to see and do. The chateau doesn't have a pool but only a "bassin" as the French refer to a small pound that one can refresh oneself. It is all very charming!

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderfully different. A historic chateau on the edge of a beautiful mountain village. (although no bars open in the village). Staff very friendly and helpful.

Cons: Horrible smell in bathroom quite putrid and drainey smell. Very off putting
7.0 Good
Pros: Clean and in the right place for us on our travels.
Cons: No air conditioning (the weather was very hot). There were tea makings in the room but no milk and by the time we noticed there seemed to be no staff in the hotel (Sunday evening). Not the best bed I’ve ever used. The ‘on site’ parking was in the street.

Pros: Familiar welcome, very nice and friendly family. Would love to go again for a longer stay. Very good local products at breakfast. You get to meet and talk to the other guests. I enjoyed it pretty much.
Cons: Be sure to spend a few minutes to check that the destination in google maps is indeed the right one. We were tricked by Google maps an arrived at a different location, 30 minutes away.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Julian was very pleasant and showed us around and explained the area. The pool was a bonus for weary travellers. His evening dinner was marvellous. A very enjoyable stay.
Cons: Apparently it was mentioned on the bookings.com site that Julian didn’t accept card. We didn’t read this so we had to drive 20 ks to draw out cash. We ended up getting quite lost and drove around for an hour before getting back on the tollway. Not accepting credit card is an inconvenience.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The couple that managed the property were great
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything. The old farmhouse is beautifully renovated and we felt right at home from the beginning. If we could we would have stayed longer and enjoyed the pool and other activities available nearby. The surrounding countryside is absolutely lovely. The delicious and relaxing dinner we enjoyed with Julien and the other guests will be remembered for a long time to come. The breakfast was also wonderful. A big thank you to our hosts!
Cons: The house was a bit hard to find (even with the GPS) but it contributed to the adventure.

Cons: Beds are a bit hard to our taste.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was very spacious and clean. The bathroom is also large. The bed was very comfortable. Friendly staff, only not visible. Very clean room
Cons: - There was not enough water pressure in the shower. - It was cold in the bathroom, maybe it is possible to install a door. - Upon arriving it was difficult to find anybody. Outside was a sign with arrows but it was difficult to see what arrow was for what part of the hotel. That is why I entered the retirement home. After 10 minutes of waiting and calling out I went outside and went to see if I was wrong. Apparently I was wrong because the hotel was a bit further. Entering the hotel nobody welcomed me. I waited and walked around but couldn't find anybody. I tried calling the number on this website but it does not exist anymore. That is why I went behind the desk to look for another number. The lady on the phone was very friendly and said I could take any room except room 2. The key was on the door... I am not a difficult person but this is pretty strange.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was superb. The service from the owner Edith and Meryen was really friendly and extremely accommodating. The bedroom and bathroom were both extremely clean, roomy and comfortable. We would book again if ever in the area.
Cons: Nothing.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: - the old castle athmospher - breakfast - views - staff
Cons: - no restaurant for a dinner
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This castle is owned by General Lafayette's (French General who fought on the side of America during the Revolutionary War) family. Much bigger than I expected from the pictures, it's a bit off the beaten track but totally worth any trip! The castle entrance is at the end of a street in the hill town of Vollore Ville (population 600). Obear Lafayette who runs the B&B, greeted us from the large front door when we arrived in the parking area and he waved goodbye to us when we left. Our bedroom was located in the 15th Century tower and was very large and well decorated for the period. Our room included a sitting room just off the bedroom, that also enjoyed a view and a large soaking tub, and was attached to a little room next to it that housed the toilet (along with a sink). Just off the other side of the bedroom was another bathroom with a sink and shower. We climbed the stairs in the old tower (which was not a problem for us) to the 2nd floor where our bedroom had an awesome view of the landscape. There are also bedrooms on the main level where the castle boasts numerous sitting rooms that are large and beautifully decorated for the period, many paying tribute to General Lafayette. The dining room is equally large and beautiful with a table that seats 12. Breakfast was very good but all I can really remember is how eloquent the event was, and how I felt like a queen, sitting there alone with my husband at the large table, being served by Obear. We felt welcome and enjoyed the castle immensely, honored to experience a little of the history of General Lafayette, knowing the critical role he played in helping America win the American Revolutionary War. The whole experience was surreal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good place to stay to recharge the batteries. Very interesting history & host very helpful.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The towers and parts of the existing chateau date back to the 12th century. Such history! The room was lovely and very clean. My room had a small fridge which was nice. The staff/owner was very kind and accommodating. The best part of the place is the view of the valley and mountain range as well as splendid sunsets. All the notes and receipts are written on beautiful, fancy paper, it’s the small things that I enjoy most. The common rooms were setup like a large library and museum. The common areas were always well lit with classical music playing in the background. The living rooms/sitting areas all felt like stepping into such rich family history with all kinds of historical artifacts and family relics.
Cons: There is no food available on site, except for breakfast, and the nearest city is about 20 min drive away. There is one small, local restaurant near the castle. The backyard has so much potential and could be designed/landscaped better to drive traffic and customers to the hotel for the view alone. There are some lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas. The pool was not ready for use, it seemed that it was being cleaned.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing views. Loverly area. Beautifully kept old property. Very roomy and comfortable bedroom. Great bathroom (for an old house). Lovely host. A wonderful surprise.
