The hotel is well located in the town but also very quiet. There is adequate parking close by. I would have liked a balcony but didn't get one. The breakfast was not very good value for money and we had a wait for ages before the coffee was refilled, Next time I would go instead to the Mini Golf Snack Bar where we had dinner the night before as it was very good value for money.
Thw view on the casino Breakfest
great location. Value for money. Air conditioning a great plus. At the front of building which was great.
Very clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Restaurant excellent, food very good. Breakfast very good. Service very good . There is nothing to dislike about this hotel and we wished we could have stayed longer. Will definitely go back.
High quality accomadation in an interesting town The ventillator system of the hotel had a large fan mounted close to our window - the noise from this was similar to sleeping on a cross channel ferry. I would have been disturbed - however I was so tired I slept anyway. I informed the recepotion about this problem in the morning - they said that they could do nothing about it....
good location, great restaurant serving very good food at a reasonable price, good wine list again at reasonable prices. no
Cleanliness, high standard of decor, furnishing etc Tea, coffee in room would have been beneficial
Clean comfortable well appointed hotel. Excellent location in very pleasent town. I would have liked to been offered a room at the front as these were available and we had a room at the back. No, great hotel
We were amazed and thrilled that it had a small refrigerator and since we were traveling with our daughter, it had a separate room for her. The only negative comment I would make is that possibly some bowls and plates and cups could also be provided.
The location was ideal for an over night stop
Directions to the hotel were poor and it was difficult to access due to Montlucon traffic management near hotel. Parking was virtually non-existent when we arrived due to the hotel sharing car park with a Commercial Centre. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and it was near impossible to park near the hotel. Also the restaurant wasn't open at the weekend for dinner, your site did not make this clear. After eating in the town centre we returned at 21.30 to find the hotel locked. The standard of decor in the room was poor, but it was clean. The bathroom was clean and well appointed, although rather small.
Convenience to old town.
The communal areas and exterior were shabby. The corridors smelt damp and the carpets were badly fitting and shabby. The curtains in our bedroom were threadbare and looked about to fall apart, however the sheets and bathroom were spotless. Bathroom was out of keeping with the rest. It was 3 star while the rest was 1. Oops see above
The staff were very friendly an extremely helpful The hotel looked extremely shabby from the exterior and was very tired inside. ( carpets and curtains were old and tatterd and faded) Needs a lot of work.
Free Wi Fi. It was within short walk to old city and restaurants. Street parking (some free some pay) available near hotel. Host was very helpful.
The facility is really old and not well maintained. The staff is nice but not welcoming.
The area was nice. Lots of restaurants and bars close to the hotel. A pretty nice shopping area as well. The manager. Never have I seen such a lazy man, unwilling - or uncapable - to solve problems. The breakfast was bad.
Advice about nearby cheap restaurant!
The room was tidy and absolutely clean; beds were comfortable; no noise from other rooms. Staff was very friendly and helpful (we were traveling with a 14 year old, who was ill). The restaurant and menu were much better than expected in this type of hotel. WiFi had ample reception in our room (far from the lobby) and it is free-of-charge. Could use a paint-job in the lobby and restaurant (!)
From the moment we arrived at the Hotel , Fabrice was very charming. Although both my children and I speak French, my wife does not, and he spoke very good English. He his a Charming, hardworking patron. Good value, i would definitely stay there again. No dislikes
No rear access from parking at the back of the hotel
Simple and Clean
Comfortable and large beds, good location for eating out, parking and helpful staff. Breakfast seemed expensive, especially for children.
Very convenient for an overnight stop on the way south (or back!). Hotel staff fantastic - really friendly and helpful. Good location for looking around town and plenty of places to eat. Rooms decent size and clean, breakfast great.
Good wifi. Comfortable. Good size rooms. No English-speaking television stations.
Very friendly staff. There was not much choice at breakfast. It would have been nice to have ham and cheese instead of just croissants and jam. Also, would be good to have at least one english TV channel, since it was advertised as having satellite tv.
The manager was extremely helpful as i had made an error in booking the room which he then sorted out for us, in an extremely helpful and friendly manner.
Convenient to town bars and restaurants. Good value for money, good breakfast and friendly staff.
Situated in the centre of Montlucon, near the medieval area. Room adequate for an overnight stay. Parking available. Very small room. Very hot, no air con or fan for hot weather.
The hotel was easy to find, the Tom Tom brought us almost to the doorstep. The restaurant was good and the staff helpfull. The hotel is in the middle of a commercial area which ment that there was not a lot to do at nightime. The hotel does not have air-con and this ment that at 37c it was almost imposible to sleep at night.
staff were helpful bed was on a slope; food was expensive and not good quality!!
Not the most celubrious location, but within walking distance of the town. Perfectly adequate for the price. Astoundingly good restaurant. Could do with a bit of updating.
I didn't like anything about this hotel The overall condition of this hotel was very poor, it felt and looked dirty & unclean. Breakfast was a joke.
Cheap ! Noisy, filty rooms, full of bugs and in need of renovation. Unpleasant neighbourhood.
The efficiency of the hotel manager and her "can do" attitude
Please write at least 15 words the evening meal in the restuarant was good and the staff were very helpful The hotelwasvery basic and needs updating
Friendly, clean and comfotable and more than adequate for anovernight stay.
Easy to find, near all the resturants and shops, easy check in. Air conditioning not good, and room very cramped.
no free parking
clean room and comfortable bed
Staff are very friendly and the location is good. The room I booked was non-smoking but it had been smoked in. The breakfast waiter told me that children's breakfast was free but then I was charged.
Good location close to the town centre and convenient for all shops and local attractions bars and restaurants. Close enough to the train station to walk if you had no car. A small but comforatble hotel, very clean and tidy, comfortable beds, and our room had a lovely view of the river and the fountain which was lit up of a night. Good value for money and would stay here again.
An ideal stop-over heading back to Calais after a short break on the Canal du Midi. Easy to find, central location. Excellent evening meal. It would have been nice if there had been coffee/tea making facility in the rooms, although there was 24hr room service.
The bar food we got at 11.25pm was not nice at all. Chicken was luke warm and rice was the same. Not good at all.
It was clean comfortable and you get what you pay for, the family room had enough beds for us all to sleep in but was a bit noisy as it was next to the Station!
The hotel offfered family rooms, always good when you are travelling with children. Room was clean. Perfect for a stopover when travelling through. Value for money. Private parking also handy. Quite outdated; like stepping back into the seventies. Stairs and floors in the hotel have a tendency of sloping to one side.
it was a stopover en route from spain to england and ideal as it offered a family room for 5 whereas the main motorway chgins make us take 2 rooms
I liked the friendly atmosphere and the warm welcome. A pleasant surprise was the availablility of the thermal pool. It was great relaxing in the warm waters and thinking that the Romans had done the same centuries before! The restaurant was excellent.
silence, quiet location
Convienient for our stay in Evaux les Bains - all staff very helpful and patient as we do not speak French.
The location was excellent for a stopover en route to the South of France. The food in the restaurant was also excellent and reasonably priced Sadly this hotel seems to have had its heyday in the 1950s, and was very shabby in places and also had the air of an old people's home about it!
we stopped here on our way to the south of the country and found it very relaxing and restfull for an over night stop.
