And just as a tip the biscuits were yummy. Nice little extras as well with fresh milk being provided. Just a lovely feel and the hosts even kept an eye out for the taxi and came and knocked on our door to let us know. They also went so above and beyond as it was chucking it down when the taxi came and the hosts found an umbrella for us to borrow. 8.3 Excellent
Pros: Hosts friendly, welcoming and attentive, liked the free to come and go policy with front door and room key, breakfast 10 out of 10, food and service, great location, good parking, housekeeping kept our room clean and tidy, lovely dog!
Cons: The elephant in the room...which was the shower cubicle, perhaps feel you should be informed if your getting this room as it isnt for everyone, we assumed the shower would be with the toilet and sink in an adjoining part of the room, just an unusual layout. Weekday breakfast time 7.30 to 8.30 a little constricting, totally understand why the hosts have it like that but if your a guest away on a short break turning breakie around at this time is perhaps a little too early. Room hairdryer...get rid of it, wish I'd brought my own.

Pros: We had a full restaurant evening meal which I thought exceptional. Very tasty food well presented and cooked. In addition, the wines were fine and not overpriced and the steak knife was the most efficient I have had provided for many a year. Exceptional eating standards.
Cons: I cannot understand why any hotel only provides one armchair for a double room. Also the toilet seat was low and old bodies like mine needed handles suitably positioned to allow a dignified ablution. I thought I had paid some money up front but the hotel had no record. Please check my account with you.

Pros: Lovely little place in the middle of no-where. Our room wasn't quite ready on arrival (only because the manger had to gain access to the loft space to reset the wifi) but we enjoyed a drink in the garden whilst waiting. We were made to feel very welcome. The room was nice and spacious. Very comfortable bed. The bathroom was enormous and very clean with products in the shower and in the bathroom area. We had a meal in the evening which the manager had emailed previous asking if we wanted to book a table which was a lovely touch. The food was absolutely superb ! outstanding in fact. We were looked after by a lovely waitress and chatted to the manager (Victoria) after the meal. She was lovely and friendly and seemed to enjoy owing the pub/restaurant. A little gem of a place which we will return to
Cons: the only issue I had as that it was very hot but with the window open I could hear to air-con unit so a fan in the room would be a good idea.

Pros: Communication with Caroline was excellent from the moment our booking was confirmed. She asked if we required any recommendations for somewhere to eat explaining that not a lot of places were open on a Sunday evening also providing details of a taxi company. The same goes for Adrian recommending a Tea Shop for us to visit when we said we were going to Sidmouth. The accommodation and facilities were excellent and in beautifully peacefully surroundings but not far from Axminster and an excellent base to explore that part of the world. An added bonus was having our own front door and being totally self-contained. Breakfast was outstanding and many thanks to you both for welcoming us into your home and making us so welcome and the whole experience so easy and straight forward. We hope to visit again in the future.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at The Old Bookshop in Taunton, you'll be a 1-minute drive from Bakelite Museum and 5 minutes from Exmoor National Park.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location was fine ,but the "The old bookshop" lacks its own parking area. A bit of a drag from the nearest parking space, but not a great problem. Plenty to see and do in the surrounding area.Plenty of books to read, especially on gardening and plants which pleased my Wife no end. We wish both of them Good Luck in their fairly new venture
Cons: Nothing,everything was fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean interesting b&b. High quality fittings etc. Great beds and pillows. Very nice and filling breakfast
Cons: Everything was fine for our stay
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Didn't have croissants but the food was excellent and the bed was super comfy
Cons: We had expected an en suite so having a bathroom with a HUGE bath that as pensioners was a bit difficult to use was a bit disappointing but the hosts were so kind that we can accept that.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mandi and Ivan made us feel at home from the minute we arrived. This is a place unlike any we’ve visited, personal touches everywhere you go, the garden is amazing, nothing was too much trouble. From a beautiful room to a wonderful cooked breakfast, an incredible bathroom, and a guided tour of the property. Easy access to the coast, parking wasn’t an issue as there were plenty of areas just behind the grounds. Highly recommend a visit.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners have created a beautiful home which they generously share with their guests. The village is not the prettiest in Somerset but has good facilities including a good pub and a reasonable Indian restaurant plus more than one well stocked local supermarket . A short drive takes you to the gorgeous village of Dunster or up to Exmoor or the Quantock Hills.
Cons: The property does not have its own parking space but we always found a space on a local road.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Quaint property with nice character. Everything was very clean and fresh upstairs, with a beautiful bathroom. Mandi, our host was very friendly and we enjoyed talking to her.
Cons: We had a little bit of trouble finding it.

Cons: The noise of the traffic from the road outside of our window.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic hosts. Amanda made a super breakfast, just wished we could eat more. The room was excellent.
Cons: Parking was a bit of a pain . We must be spoiled, but only a minor factor and it wouldn't put us off from coming again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great position for touring Somerset and wonderful and comfortable accommodation . Wonderful hosts.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mandi and Ivan (the owners) make this place really special. Their love of the local area is clear to see, we travelled to Somerset as a 'spur of the moment' weekend away so hadn't fully researched the area. Mandi kindly wrote us a list of all of her favourite local sights, towns and villages...we visited them all, and have to agree that the area is beautiful. So much so, that we'll be looking to return so that we can explore the area further.
Cons: There wasn't anything I would change.

The choice and quality of food at breakfast is absolutely superb. We also appreciated the decent shower and lovely touches such as fresh milk for drinks and a fridge available for guest use.

Pros: I booked this property for three guests that were working on a video shoot in the local area and I was amazed at how incredible the property was. The rooms were of an exceptional standard, and the hospitality was second to none. The owner couldn’t do enough to accommodate us, and was so incredibly friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure everyone was looked after. He also had some fantastic local knowledge, especially about the local church gargoyles. I’d love to come back and stay myself any time.

Pros: Very helpful and friendly team, superb food, comfortable bed and fabulous location
Cons: The booking.com. booking process isn’t clear or simple. Need to make it easier to use. Not obvious if breakfast was included or not and if it was what type, ie continental or full.
7.9 Good
Pros: friendly helpful owners who looked after our needs very well - the evening meal was excellent and we thought the whole ambience of the pub/restaurant areas were well presented and appealing
Cons: The late booking in time of 5pm - the breakfast offered in the inclusive price did not include a cooked breakfast which was charged at an additional price and perhaps this should be made clearer in the room pricing ?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were amazing. We were in the area looking into the history of my partners family who had lived close by around 350 years ago before moving to America. The staff were so friendly and informative about the area and even gave us contact detail of those managing a local estate which had connections with my partners ancestors. Due to having been on the road for several days prior, we ended up missing breakfast but the proprietor so kindly still left us a wonderful breakfast spread when we finally woke; it was so gratefully received. Thank you!
