Location was great. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was adequate if a bit dated. Bed was comfortable.
I heard every car driving by, every city bus accelerating from the nearby intersection, every conversation in the parking lot, every clack-clack-clack of every wheeled suitcase going down the side walk. There were many times when I actually looked to see if I had left the door open because I could hear voices outside so clearly that they must be in the room. Walls and door must be made of paper.
Location was good!
No breakfast, room smelled musty, could use a better bed.
Location is excellent
Expensive, but I mean its Charleston
The location of this hotel was perfect. We were a quick walk to City Market and King Street. The staff was so nice and even fixed a circuit we blew within minutes. We will definitely be staying there again. We were very hesitant after the reviews but all was great!
The vending machines were empty.
The location was amazing. We were able to walk everywhere in the city. The room was clean and the hotel staff was very nice. Would definitely stay here again.
Can't beat the location and the parking is areal plus!
Everything was very old, run down and all just needs to be replaced. The dumpster in the parking lot was not attractive either.
I liked the price, location and free parking,
Great location and walkable to everything I needed to get to in downtown Charleston.
Was just a basic hotel room, but we didn't really spend a lot of time in the room, just to sleep & shower, so that was fine on that point.
The staff were friendly and tried to make our stay comfortable.
The room was small and had an obvious moldy smell. The smell came from the visible mold that was growing out of the carpet around the vanity and bathroom door. Both of us ended up getting sick from the mold. The room contained only basic furnishings and didn't include normal items such as a a tv channel guide. There was a loud continuous whirring sound in the bathroom that came from the nearby ice maker. The "business center" in the lobby was only a single computer with a printer that didn't even have word processing capabilities which essentially rendered it worthless.
There were cockroaches in the bathroom. Not worth cost of rooms.
Location was good
Super run down. Nothing seemed particularly clean. Everything was old. Would never stay there again
1.LOCATION: In heart of the historic district -- within walking distance of City Market and waterfront/ship terminal; bus stop for free city-loop trolley right out front. 2. PRICE: Very econmical compared to other hotels in area. 3. STAFF: Very hospitable and accommodating, especially in letting up leave our luggage after check-out time (and before cruise time) and again before check-in time (and after cruise). 4. And the icing on the cake: Toast, the adjacent restaurant on Market Street. We had all four of our breakfasts there -- and never repeated our selection and still left without getting to try other enticing choices. Food and service was excellent.
As a "motor inn", each room opened onto the parking lot, so the "disruptive" noise of people arriving/departing was to be expected. Note: We were not traveling by car, but for those who were, this would have been a major convenience, especially compared to other hotels in the area which didn't appear to have such convenient parking.
Location is perfect for walking in the historic Charleston
Room is very old, need upgrade. When you walk into the room, you can smell the old carpet!
The parking lots were both full and the employee working the desk gave me his parking space! (Otherwise you park in the public garage right around the corner and they reimburse your expense) I have stayed here multiple times while travelling and it is a great value and location. The restaurant, toast, beside the hotel serves up an amazing breakfast!!! I have been consistently impressed with the hotel and highly recommend it.
Location, peple, price.
Location was perfect. Room was small but economical. It was just what we needed to stay in the historical district.
Older hotel with exterior room entrances. But we felt very safe. Older tv with a remote that didn't always work.
