We stayed at this particular motel last year in October. We had three rooms for two nights and they were all spotless. So we felt safe staying again last month for four nights. What a change!! Cobwebs, mold, dirt, sticky floors, rude and spiteful housekeeping. It was nasty! If you're staying in this area stay at the Red Roof Inn across the road. Same price and much cleaner!
When I enter any room I immediately inspect the beds. I saw no sign of bedbugs so we stayed. We had two rooms and over the course of several days we killed spiders. By the second day I had three spider bites and I am now on antibiotics. The room had cobwebs in the corners. Overall it was fairly clean but my bottom sheet had holes in it. If they invested in an exterminator service or increased the treatement rate it would be a better value.
Staff was friendly and efficient. Rooms were ready and clean. Breakfast was good and location was perfect. Would stay here again.
Part of the reason I booked this hotel was for a free breakfast. My husband and I are both diabetic, and not one item was provided that offered protein. No sandwiches, bacon, sausage or scrambled eggs. Sugar, sugar, and more sugar. Another guest at breakfast had the same predicament and she asked if they even had yogurt. No, they did not. Cereal, fruit, muffins, danishes, bagels & oatmeal. Upon check-in, I asked for a crib. I was told she didn't know if someone was using it or not. I didn't completely understand, but I think what she was trying to say was that someone stole it. Either way, I didn't end up with a crib for my toddler, so he slept between my husband and I. The room was neat and clean. The pool was well maintained. Decent value for the money.
I have stayed here twice--both times for one night while passing through Charleston. There is nothing outstanding about the hotel other than the price and the location. You're better off going to McDonald's next door (and I am NOT a fan of McDonald's) than visiting the breakfast bar, even though it is complimentary. It's a basic, clean, and reasonably comfortable room. The only close restaurants are Outback Steakhouse and Texas Roadstar. Since we are not fans of either of those establishments, we ate dinner in downtown Charleston, which is an easy drive.
We rented 2 rooms here. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a small fridge and microwave, and roomy bathroom. Small pool. Good breakfast. Had an AC problem and the staff did not want to switch our room saying they were not required to since we booked through Traveloctiy, but they finally did switch it. Some of the restaurants within walking distance are not very clean, so check it out before eating there.
I liked my room. The key card did not work twice and they were very solicitous about fixing the problem. They kept my medications safe when I left them in the breakfast room. They helped me to find services I needed that were a little unusual (like an antique dealer). The bed was so comfortable I went out and bought that brand of pillow. In spite of being a stop for many truckers, it remained very quiet and privacy was respected Not luxurious, but better than I expected for the reasonable price
We were on our way to North Carolina for a family visit and with three young children just needed some place to stay for the night. It was perfect for that. Although, a light was left on in the van and our battery was dead in the morning...thank goodness an auto parts store it right next door!
When we arrived they desk clerk was very helpful and curtious. We rented two rooms side by side. When we got into our rooms they we very clean neat and we loved that they had a mini frige with frezzer and a microwave. Very convienent. There were places to eat within walking distance. There was a grocery store(kroger)down the street and a k-mart within walking distance as well. The pool was clean and very nice. I like that you have to have a key card to even get in to the hallway of the motel. I felt a little safer knowing that unless you have a key pass you couldn't get into the halls of the motel. I would definatly recomend this hotel to anyone passing through. I would and will stay here again. The rate and rooms were worth the price we paid. Very affordable for a big family.
The hotel was along a lovely river in beautiful mountains. The building is fairly old. Not fancy, by passable. Pool is not at all enticing, tall white metal fence surrounds the pool, which is surrounded by parking lots. All very visible. Desk staff not very attentive.
The room was clean, the staff was courteous, but the bed was hard as a brick, and the comforter weighed a ton, sliding off the bed. Was an okay place to stay.
The hotel was not clean. Room had cockroaches. Was not willing to even try the breakfast based upon the whole roach thing. Said they had free wi-fi but could never get connected; and I am an IT professional. Good location. Close to interstate. Beautiful view of the mountains.
The motel is in a truck stop, with a bar, with it appears ''working girls'' hanging out most of the night - not a good thing for a team of 15 year old soccer players to be around. Also, it appears that the housekeeping staff live in the motel, and cook food very heavily spiced with curry and ginger, among other things, so much so, that there was a terrible stench not only in the adjacent rooms (which luckily we did not have to occupy, although others in our party did, put it traveled to the foyer and even the other wing of the motel. Several days, after we had to ask, we were given additional towels, but our room was not made up. Towels were of very poor quality, and for 4 days we were not given a new bar of bath soap - eventually had to take it one from the housekeeping cart in the hallway. The continental breakfast was a joke. One day we tried to go back to our room, and our key card would not work the front entrance to the building, nor would it have worked our room door. When we went to the front desk, we were told it was due to the fact that the record showed we were checking out that day, and it was after noon. We were with a soccer team, which had 18 rooms, all booked together, under a master reservation, but for some mysterious reason, 3 of our group ran into the same ?early departure? issue. Not a major problem and it was resolved, but just indicative of the overall experience. The ''exercise room'' was ''closed for repairs'' and the pool is smack dab in the middle of the parking lot, overlooked by McDonalds and the bar.
Good location for the business travler. The rooms are very roomy and the free wifi works great for me. Check in was smooth and the desk clerk was very friendly and knowledgeable. Room was clean and the breakfast was good for the price I paid for the room.
This was a unexpected trip to a hotel due to power outage. My wife, son and myself had a great stay at this hotel. The room was really big and very clean. The front desk staff was very pleasant and made our stay enjoyable. I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends.
The hotel is being renovated and is looking good. The room are really roomy and clean. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful to us since this was not a planned trip to a hotel due to power outage. Good location with restaurants and shopping close. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.
This is a excellent location, easy off and on the interstate, plenty of restaurant and shopping nearby. The hotel was very clean and roomy. Good price and the desk staff was very knowledgeable about the area. I will stay here again if back in the area. The renovations are looking good.
Stayed here overnight going from Illinois to Virginia. I picked the hotel for price and proximity to interstate. Hotel is older but undergoing rennovations. Hotel consists of three buildings with rooms and separate office building. My room was clean and quiet, had nice bathroom, comfortable bed and micro-fridge. I arrived late and didn't realize until the next morning that a truck stop with lots of idling trucks was just outside my hallway and river barge traffic out the window, so I was pleasantly surpised -- it was fairly quiet. There is a lounge across the parking lot that I did not care to visit. The security door to the building where my room was located was broken, and the common areas were a little dirty, but as I said the room was clean and secure. The breakfast area of the office building was undergoing rennovation, so coffee, bagels, bread, cereal and danish were available on a table with a coffe pot.
Our hotel was clean but that was the only thing that was. The hallways stunk! Our towels were stained from previous guests and looked like they would never come clean again. There were no working soda machines on the premises. Had to walk to the McDonald's next door for soda. Was afraid to even try the free breakfast.
This is an older hotel. It has a friendly staff, a nice outdor pool, and a continental breakfast with limited but good choices. The only concern I had was the doors leading to the building were difficult to close, and if yo were not careful, itwould not latch. It is close to the expressway, but thre was no noise from it. Overall, it s a decent hotel at a decent price.
Room was ok for overnight...clean enough and quiet...BUT...entire first floor was closed for renovations...no big deal as nothing was going on on a Sunday...climbing steps to second floor was a little difficult for my Mom and desk clerk made no mention of construction...
First room assigned was filthy and rough. Second room was supposed to be non-smoking - ashtrays in room and pillows/linens were rank. Too tired to change again.
We got stuck in a smoking room but even a non-smoking room couldn't have been much better, since we noticed that the non-smoking rooms were on the same floor and in between smoking rooms. The pillows and bedding stank, it was dark and dreary in the room, we found a USED condom in the pullout sofa that we intended our 3 year old to sleep on. Not impressed at all.
We stayed for an overnight enroute to a week at the beach (NC). We were listed as being in a smokefree room, but it was obviously not. The breakfast area was great, but that would be the only redeeming value. Found a used condom when we opened the sofa bed. The decor is dated and has a run-down appearance. Would not stay again.
The room was very clean. Love the fact that I had a small refrigerator w/ freezer compartment and microwave right in the room. Also had nice love seat. Entryway and hallways were a bit messy but rooms were extremely clean. Requested a new coffee pot because someone had but hair gel in ours. Staff brought it up immediately. Breakfast was awesome. Staff was very helpful. Highly recommend this hotel.
