9.6 Excellent
Pros: We booked this hotel at the last minute when we realised that we had not given ourselves enough time to travel on some of the twisty windy roads in this area. The reviews were positive. There was plenty of parking. We were quickly booked in by the friendly staff. Taken up to our room on the 2nd floor. It was on the small side but very clean and functional. Nice bright curtains and covers on the bed. Twin beds, side tables and lamps. Small desk. Hanging and cupboard space. Tea and coffee and a kettle. Much appreciated. The beds were comfy and we were warm and cosy overnight when it turned cold and the cars were covered in frost in June! As we were up under the eves we struggled a bit with the overhead shower in the bath, but it was manageable and we got away without any head banging issues! We ate in the restaurant. Dinner is served from 7.30pm. Lovely restaurant room. Barn like room with rustic like finishing touches but with a bit of class. Treated ourselves to aperitifs. Can recommend the Kir Royale de Maison. Very tasty. We chose 3 courses at 22 Euros. There were nice choices and it was more than enough for us even if I would have loved to have have had the 4th course which includes cheese. Well priced carafes of wines and the wait staff automatically bring you a carafe of tap water. It was good service throughout. We thought the meal was very good for the money. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. As always it's a case of working out how it all works. We were puzzled when there was no fresh bread, but having worked out other choices, a basket of fresh bread and toasted bread appeared on the table! Very nice stay. Would like to return for a couple of nights to explore around the area as well as having the chance to explore the dinner menu!
Cons: The wifi! We logged in, it dropped off. Went downstairs to query what was going on as there was a wifi signal, a family member helped me out, as soon as I went upstairs, it had dropped off again. That was the only niggle as we hadn't planned the route for the next day. Moral of the story, don't leave it to the last minute!
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good.
Cons: Room very small.
7.1 Good
Pros: Room was clean and bed comfortable
Cons: Wfi facility

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly easy-going check in and lovely room with spacious bathroom. The food was excellent. Had a delicious meal which included wild mushrooms picked by the hotel oweners. They were deliciuous-and I am not a vegetarian! The breakfast buffet was fabukous-with the usual fayre, plus cake, boiled eggs and a lovely fruit salad.
Cons: It was a bit off the beaten track for us, as we were walking the Stevenson Way. Foie gras was on the menu, which,as animal lovers, we didnt like,as it's extremely cruel to produce. Many UK restaurants have banned selling it,because of this. Could do with more vegetarian options. Menu was heavy on the game /meat front.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owners were exceptionally helpfull in arranging an early morning taxi, and in the end took us themselves to ensure we met our deadline. Restaurant was very good, with excellent choices and dishes. Overall very well run and excellent value for money
Cons: The only problem was that there was a racist full scale model of a slave boy and his field wheelbarrow in the reception area, which was unacceptable.

Pros: Good overnight stay, friendly helpful staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: For a two star hotel, the Hotel de France provides excellent accommodation at a very reasonable price. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was warm and very comfortable. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

It has a good, popular and busy restaurant serving local seasonal specialities such as mushrooms and a very good cheeseboard. The staff are friendly and helpful. 8.8 Excellent
Pros: It is a great place for an overnight stay for travelers.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: It was so bad we had a bit of a laugh but then the novelty wore off. A long day’s driving deserved a good night’s sleep and judging by the booking.com ratings this place looked a good possibility to give one.
Cons: From the dead fly filled collector/ light defuser to the filthy mattress, from the brown pillows and stained sheets to the flooding in the bathroom, this place isn’t so attractive. The kitchen equipment was in total just a sink plug and a hand written sign pure comedy. I ask booking.com to check previous reviews because they can’t be real. Money back please cos this is a joke. I don’t expect this to be posted nor do I wish to complain but I didn’t enjoy my stay here at all.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Pleasant little hotel in an unlikely but quite picturesque setting - extremely friendly owners/managers - excellent food - basic room but comfortable - adjacent parking - exactly as expected from the description
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: The staff was very friendly, welcoming and made sure that we had a pleasant stay. The bedroom was practical and they provided the bare necessities (toilet paper, fresh towels and extra pillows) Free WiFi and excellent signal
Cons: The fact that it was a bit old fashioned (wool blanket and bedsheets; colors and furniture), there were several spiders in the bedroom, and the door made a lot of noise when opening it. The reception was deserted after 4 p.m.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location with mountain views. Large, bright, airy bedroom. Private car park. On site pizza restaurant - delicious! Host/chef impressive, professional and friendly.
Cons: Nothing!

7.1 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Old style, needs renovation.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The price was reasonable and the room was clean.
Cons: The hotel was closer to the roundabout than I had thought it would be although the traffic did get quieter as the night progressed. The staff were not particularly helpful - my booking had been lost, although I had confirmation and the receptionist did not apologise. She gave us a room with bunk beds overhead, I complained and was given another room with two single beds, when we had asked for a double room. But as that was the only room left available we had no choice.

Pros: Good choice of breakfast, but eggs not properly cooked.
Cons: All fine
5.0 Okay
Cons: Parking is not available when you arrive late (we arrived at 22h00). No air conditioning, the temperature was unbearable. Besides, the hotel WiFi needs a password that is only available at reception, closed when we arrived (late), so we couldn't access the internet. The towel hanger in the bathroom had dust between each row.
2.9 Mediocre
Cons: No food in the evening No air conditioning Hotel on main road as such very noisy Would not accept American Express despite notices displayed to say they do,

8.0 Excellent
Cons: Our room was strange: divided in various 'sub-rooms' for which the purpose was not obvious to us. Strangest was that in the first one, entering "the complex", the furniture was just a camp bed. With chic design supposed in the decoration this was peculiar.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: My wife and I stayed for one night while on motobike tour.. The rooms are fantastic and huge We only had breakfast in the restaurant but it was everything you would expect of a French hotel.. Secure parking..We would go back again.
10.0 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel in a quiet country town. Renovated with taste to have a mix of modern amenities and heritage. Breakfast was great. Staff were professional and friendly.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was lovely and clean and there was a good breakfast. Very quiet location with an outside area to enjoy the view. Staff gave us a great recommendation for a restaurant in town.
Cons: Not really a negative, but this is in a remote location, so you need transport to get into town.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Arriving early, it was a bonus to find a covered area, with comfortable chairs and other facilities available. The room was decorated in an individual and pleasing way.
Cons: Opening reception at 5pm is rather late for walkers who, generally, try to get the bulk of the day's journey completed before the afternoon heat sets in. It was a disappointment to find that no evening meal was available, particularly as the nearest alternative was at least a half-hour walk distant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent facilities, especially for walkers. Fabulous - delicious and extensive - evening meal with wine. Very comfortable, quiet room. Owner was very helpful in making an appointment with the vet for our dog.
Cons: Initial reception didn't seem terribly welcoming (maybe because there was a queue of people waiting to be let in at 5pm?), but actually our hostess was very friendly & helpful after that.

4.2 Okay
Pros: Nice location on the edge of a large reservoir surrounded by hills and woods.
Cons: The accommodation was just OK - I'm glad I only stayed one night. There were clear signs that some attempt had been made to break into the room before I got there, and no attempt had been made to repair the damage to the door or frame. I was not impressed by the bathroom - the loo seat was not attached to the loo pan, the loo roll was in a tamper-proof dispenser and there were clear signs that some attempt had been made to force the lock before I got there. These things need to be fixed. The restaurant was pretty average. I was not offered a menu at dinner, just a quick question as to whether I wanted the fixed-price menu, which was OK but not brilliant. The buffet breakfast was definitely not worth the 18 euros I was charged. I had the impression that the buffet was used by a large cohort of camper-van people to create their packed lunches - I can't think of any other explanation for the outrageous fee.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A good breakfast and it was clean and tidy
Cons: Directions to the hotel were not very good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning, peaceful location overlooking the lake. Very welcoming reception staff and in the bar/restaurant. Wish we had more time there, as we would have enjoyed a swim - but we were en route to join our family further South.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location was outstanding.
Cons: The room was terrible value for money. It was €90 per night and it felt like staying in a YMCA.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Pleasant staff in lovely setting. Not expensive so good value.
Cons: The restaurant food was very basic although staff were excellent and ambiance very nice. It was a little difficult to find

Cons: No toilet in room
7.9 Good
Pros: We enjoyed the hosts warm and friendly reception, the tasty, hearty food, very generous portions, the ambience, very clean and homely. Genuine concern from the hosts that everyone was well catered for.
Cons: The only, but important thing for my wife and I, was having to share the two communal toilets which were located along the corridor. And no wash basin in the cubicle.
7.5 Good
Pros: Hot water, nice shower, great hosts. Vicky ( the dog) , open fireplace
Cons: I didn't realise that there were no toilets in the room, it had ample space to put one, the walk in shower had plenty of space. This must encourage the use of the sink for other things?? Slippers to share in the entrance... No thanks. Unlit drive/entrance was difficult to see, walk round the back with bags in the rain with phone torch.

Cons: Room needs updating badly.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very friendly, welcoming, extremely good evening meal, nice restaurant and excellent service. Only had coffee at the bar at breakfast but there were small pastries to help yourself.
Cons: Our room was in the old part, furniture was dated and floors were uneven so big space under the door. Shower was tiny but lots of hot water. However it was all spotlessly clean and for one night, a very comfy bed meant a good night's sleep when all was quiet. A lot of walkers.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent restaurant for lunch and dinner. Big choice and good wines. Excellent breakfast with huge range of well prepared food to choose from. Comfortable, clean room. Great service. Thankyou.
