Cons: Unbelievably slow, but that was only the beginning. The agent said my (only) card was being declined, twice. Called my bank, Payless had not been declined, hadn't even connected. I stood in line behind one person for a further 45 minutes, and this time the agent said they had a new "system", and it couldn't read my card! He suggested I try another rental company, so I tried, but cost was exorbitant. So after TWO AND A HALF HOURS trying to rent a car, almost all of it spent at the Payless desk, I decided to use a taxi. It was a good decision. They were cheaper than a car would have been, even Payless, prompt and courteous. This is the second time I've tried unsuccessfully to rent a car from Payless at ABQ, and for sure the last.

Pros: decent care for a reasonable price
Cons: at pick-up sales person tried to sell me an upgrade, then added some kind of roadside emergency coverage without my consent ($4.99/day), and misinformed me about local gas prices hoping to entice me to purchase pre-pay gas option. The cost shown on my original reservation was $205 and the initial contract the agent printed up was $275. I hate this kind of nickel-dime stuff at the desk and he had to redo the contract to remove the roadside emergency coverage that he hadn't mentioned and thought I wouldn't notice which cost me time at the counter. I know employees are trained in these deceptive practices and find it deplorable.

Pros: Customer service and quality of the vehicle were excellent.
Cons: I HATE HIDDEN FEES! It's. Equivalent to being lied to. My $99 agreement became $172 when I turned in the car. To me it is fraud.

Pros: The Albuquerque rental center is amazing. Wonderful. The dropoff was especially easy and smooth. I'll be using Payless again, for sure.

Pros: The employees I had interaction with were very nice. I just wish they had a way to staff the counter/booth all the time.
Cons: When I returned the car no one was in the booth. There was a note "I'll be back in 20 minutes". I was unable to wait 20 minutes because I had to catch a plane. It was uncomfortable just putting the keys in the box. I still have not received a receipt for my rental car 2 days later.

Pros: Good car
Cons: Overcharged. I was promised a charge around $240 upon pickup. I had paid $60 for insurance offered by kayak. The clerk tried signing me up for the insurance Payless offers, amounting to a total of over 500 dollars. Had i not been alert, i would have signed up for both policies.
I was also overcharged on my credit card; Payless estimated the overall cost for the week would be around 240 dollars, though a charge of 319 dollars has appeared on my statement.

Cons: The rental ended up being more than twice as much as it was advertised; pick up took an inordinately large amount of time even though I was the only customer being handled; I was subject to agressive attempts to up sell; and drop off took more than half an hour, again despite there being no other customers.
Pros: The reservation was simple to make and customer service answered all of my questions.

Alamo economy rental
Pros: No complaints whatsoever. Apparently Alamo and National share a counter, workers, and fleet of cars in Albuquerque. Got a Ford Fiesta tiny little thing for just a shade over $10/day. Three days ended up costing $35, spent more on gas than on renting the car. And the car was surprisingly smooth, an enjoyable ride up to Raton and back as well as driving around Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
Staff was efficient and courteous on pickup and drop-off, car was cheap and more than adequate, plenty clean. Great value in my eyes.
Pros: A nice Chrysler 300C was my rental vehicle and I was very pleased with it. The vehicle handled exceptionally well and averaged 33 mpg at the posted interstate speed of 75 mph. More car than I expected but then I drive a 1995 Corolla! Everyone was friendly and courteous and answered all my questions. I would definitely recommend Enterprise Car rentals.
Cons: As I stated previously in the like column, more car than I was accustomed to. I did not know how to use the keyless start and had to look around for the gear shift knob (which I was fascinated with by the way)! My daughter was with me when I picked up the vehicle and she is the one who ended up giving me instructions. With all the new features in the newer cars, I would suggest having the techs ask if the customer is accustomed to the new technology instead of assuming they are. Please do not take this as a complaint, just something to think about especially with us 'older' drivers.

Cons: The only full size car available in the evening when I arrived about 7 pm was a Prius which I didn't care for. However I exchanged it the next morning when there was a wide selection of cars.

They were horrid and stranded me at the airport
Cons: I wasnt able to pay with a debit card at the desk after I lost my credit card because I was 24. they wouldnt accept another credit card not in my name. They was very unhelpful. I got stranded at the ABQ airport for hours. However, the other enterprise in santa fe said that was false and they rented a car to me once I arrived in santa fe. I had to go to two enterprise offices in Santa Fe to get assistance. I wasted 4 hours waiting for a ride at the airport because the enterprise at the airport didnt know their information. I could use a debit card if I showed my return flight which I had on me at the time. I will never rent from this company again nor make a reservation with them. I wasted a whole day of my vacation.

Pros: This was our first time renting with Enterprise. We really enjoyed getting to select our vehicle!!! That's something we had never experienced. And they had a pretty good selection, as well.
And the customer service was fantastic and everyone enjoyable to interact with!
