I picked up Dodge mini-van, for 6 passengers and 6 big suitcases. It was perfectly fit but fuel consumption was no good. There are many road constructions out there, so you should take H1 freeway between airport and waikiki area. Nimitz and Ala-Moana Blvd is no use especially in peak time.

Got to the first vehicle they offered us and it was broken and had tears in the seats and missing parts of the interior. They then said that they didn’t have anything else in the full size suv that I paid for so I had to pay to upgrade to a smaller suv cause it was considered luxury. That vehicle had no shock and was the worst and bumpiest vehicle I have ever driven.

Great staff. Got upgraded from a sub-compact to a convertible on my wife’s 50th (without mentioning it). Note: this probably won’t happen to you. That aside, they got us in and out in no time, took COVID protocols seriously. I could not have asked for a better experience.

We had a firm quote including taxes on the car for 62 days - $3500.00 They charged my credit card for $4500 - The car, service, people we dealt with were great - their accounting department and those that handle quotes and pricing are completely dishonest.

The vehicle on the website when booking was different to the actual vehicle I was allocated upon pick up. So wasn’t very pleased with this false advertising. Upon pick up the customer service was terrible, the lady at Sixt tried to make it out as if she was being helpful when in actual fact she wasnt. I would never book through Kayak and Sixt again. Highly do not recommend

I felt this was a scam. They keep on charging my credit card for no reason and I have to continuously deal with that. Once I call them out on it, they remove the charge but only a few days later it appears again. Poor business and won't be renting cars with them anymore.

The car was nice. It performed well. A customer service person, after some work on the phone, help me fix two of the issues.

Cons:

The car was not completely clean, inside and out. But, the worst part, was that they rewarded me for spending more money - extending my rental - by almost doubling my daily rate. Also, they would not offer a weekly rate, even though I had the car for 8 days, because I initially started renting for only 4 days.

Beware this Hertz is not accessible from the Honolulu airport terminals. Had to take an Uber/Taxi to and from the Hertz. Kayak/Hertz doesn’t make it clear that this Hertz doesn’t have access to the airport.

The attitude of the branch manager was horrible. My flight was delayed and when I arrived at the store the next day (but within 24 hours), the car was not kept for me. I tried to contact Hertz multiple times but was not able to get in touch. The manager then asked me to pay $100 extra to get a car. It was by far the worst experience I have had for car rental.

Koapaka St pickup location was about 15 minute walk from Daniel K. Inouye Airport (HNL). Not bad if you know where to go and how to get there. Walk to the Diamond Head end (east) of the terminal, first floor. Follow the street past Dunkin Donuts, and IHOP, or cut across the parking lot of the shopping center across the street, angling NW. Koapaka is the street before Meleluca Store. One option is to leave one person watching the luggage while the one person goes to pick up the car. Took me about 30-45 minutes waiting in line, checking in, and receiving the keys to the car. Dealers choice was a 2021 model with less than 5,000 miles. Overall, good deal for the price if you are willing to walk, catch a taxi, or hook up with a ride sharing company. Either way you are still saving money versus renting a car from the new car rental facility at the airport. Dropping off was faster since there was no one waiting for service.

I rented a small SUV back in March for June in Honolulu HI. back in March the rental was cheap 250 for 6 days, then the car rental in HI blew up. I was so relieved that I already had my rental reserved. When I got to HI and went to pick up my car they told me that I had my rental pick up set at Wakiki not at the airport. No biggie I took an Uber to pick it up at the address they sent me to, only to find out that it’s been permanently closed since the pandemic. So I called customer support and everyone kept apologizing and saying that they could not help me but they could cancel my reservation. All of them wanted to help me by canceling my reservation. I said absolutely not to this “help” I persisted but they could do nothing for me on that day. Luckily my hotel was not far from the location the Uber had taken us. So now we were forced to walk lugging our luggage for at least a mile. The next day someone was able to help me and I had to take another Uber to pick up a car. Not the one I rented but I was glad to have something to get around in. Not a great experience getting it but ok once I got it. They still made me drop off the car at the new location they sent me to and I had to take another Uber to the airport so another 78 bucks down the drain.

Car was reasonably clean and in good condition. Some upholstery stains. Only when asked the shuttle driver explained "tips" in an understandable manner without putting pressure or guilt on us. Insurance was available in 3 price ranges. I bought it this time. Representative explained insurance coverage on an island costs more than on the mainland. Even with coverage from my car insurance company there could be uncovered costs. Check with your insurance provider and try to get it in writing. They took reasonable photos off the car sides and hood. The photos covered us, but just barely. I would rent again!...just a little more wisely! Happy Travels!

Car had smoke smell that cleared out the end of the week. Shuttle drivers hope for larger tips because they are only paid a base like restaurant staff. A little bit of pressure to buy insurance. I decided to buy this time. Almost had an accident twice while there, but got lucky. Accused of damaging the car. Damage was not clear in the photos when we picked up the car. We were assured that the photos got everything. DON'T TAKE ANYONE'S WORD FOR THE QUALITY OF THEIR PHOTOS. INSPECT THE CAR HIGH AND LOW YOURSELF!! We were lucky this time, but from now on I will inspect the car myself and ask for extra photos. I may even take some myself before I leave the lot.

Representatives took forever to assist me even though there was only one other customer there. They’re online system was glitching when I placed my reservations so I got 4 reservations for the same dates so I had to cancel 3. They charged me $108 cancellation fees for the 3 reservations I had to cancel. When I ask the representative when I returned the rental, she didn’t know why and later called me to let me to call customer service, who couldn’t do anything but told me to email the customer service email. Worst customer service ever.

Staff at both the desk and up in the rental garage were awesome. We received an amazing upgrade which enhanced our day's driving experience!

Cons:

The car's service light went on for Oil Chage almost immediately after we left with the car and by the time we returned in the afternoon the Add Engine Oil light was on, so while it didn't really impact our drive, I was a little worried by the time we got back.

I had rented a minivan 2 weeks before my vacation. When I arrived to pick up my rental vehicle they did not have the minivan I rented. Instead they tried to give me a small suv that did not have enough room for my family. They did compromise and rented me a 16 passenger van. For the same price. The thing was a beast. It was very uncomfortable but I didn’t want to deal with getting another vehicle and just sucked it up. Also the office seemed very unorganized and not costumer friendly. I will not be renting from this company again.
