It was romantic and owner was very friendly. He and his family welcome us. I was impressed their hospitality.
The Duke was very friendly. He spoke to me twice each time that our paths crossed on the grounds.
A tour in English, even if prerecorded, would have been great.
We absolutely loved our stay at Chateau de Brissac. We sought an authentic Chateau experience; to be in close contact with years of history, to experience a small taste of life as noble folk (just out of curiosity) and to get a genuine feel for the Loire Valley. What we got was more than expected... our bedroom was so grand I couldn’t suppress my nervous laughter as we followed our host past the enormous, intricately carved four-poster bed. Tapestries draped on walls, ornate beams, historic artefacts strewn about the place - everything everywhere oozing history evoked a sensation of this being a seriously special place. It was overwhelming, but in a really, really good way. The ante-room and bathroom suite, whilst period, were fully functional. The bed, despite being initially viewed as more for show proved more than comfortable. Basic modern facilities were provided (coffee & tea, etc) but paled into insignificance considering the environment. We bumped into the owner who was convivial and welcoming. What more could you ask for than a warm welcome from the chateau owner?! We wandered around the grounds while mere day visitors made their way home. We felt special. Highly recommended. Nothing. The other half felt the room was a bit spooky at night, which isn’t necessarily a negative.
