We loved our room which was decorated in traditional country chic overlooking the pond. The roll top bath is a luxurious treat after a long drive and the staff are lovely and helpful.
We chose this property for its location and it looked quirky, which appeals to us. The dinner was well cooked, with an interesting selection of dishes. The 2 elderly dogs were delightful, as were the many frogs in the pond.
While undoubtedly old, the property is now in need of some tlc, bearing in mind the price. I had to tighten a screw in the toilet cistern, as the flush didn't initially work. The toilet seat had lost a screw and was coming adrift. There were 2 sinks in the bedroom, but neither had plugs. When I asked for one, in order to wet-shave, I was told that plugs are not used in France; that came as a surprise after 30 years travelling the country! The evening meal, although tasty, was pricey, at 48 Euros per person. It would have been helpful to have this information available at the time of booking, as it would have made a difference to our plans. The wine was free-flowing (accounting for the cost, no doubt), yet my wife is not a big drinker, and only had a small glass and a kir. In addition, she requested a dessert, but it never materialised. Normally technology wouldn't bother us, but as a close relative is terminally ill it was important for us to be able to keep in touch during our stay. We asked for the Wi-fi code several times, but were told it was free and we didn't require a code. Sadly we couldn't connect.
Not much- looked good on paper. Did not live up to advertisements.
Dirty cups in room. Shower totally impractical and no door to toilet. The owner was very aloof and seemingly uninterested. Advertised as in top b&b in France. It may have been in 2014, but certainly not now. Lack of off road parking. We were booked for 2 nights and were that disappointed that we left after 1 night.
The property is excellent, in a dead quiet location and set in beautiful grounds.
I wish I was told how much the extra plate of food was going to be!
The Hotel garni Le Mouton is a nice idyllic place away from the trouble of any cities / touristic places. You have a pool, a whirlpool and a beautiful garden with a sheep, 2 dogs, a horse and a cat. It is quite familiar with the friendly host and you can request a 4 step dinner there as well (very tasty with lot of good wines). The style of the house and the rooms is fantastic!
If you want to find something: the bathroom is a part of the normal sleeping room (at least we know for the rooms in the second floor). As well below the roof you have to take a little care for your head when you are tall and there is a little dust but that fits perfect to the natural spirit of the house.
Located in Blaison-Saint-Sulpice, Chambres d'Hôtes Le Mouton is in a rural location, within a 15-minute drive of Belle Île and Chateau de Brissac. Free self parking is available onsite.
