Pros: Lovely people, warm welcome, arriving early not a problem. The house is brand new and the four guest rooms are spacious, airy and well appointed. They have a separate entrance and take up the top floor of the house. Communal kitchen area with coffee, tea and lemonade free, other drinks from the honesty bar were €1. Small shared veranda. Breakfast was served downstairs and was a friendly affair with a chance to chat to the hosts (French only) and other guests. We were cycling the Loire and the house is only 200m from the Loire a velo route.

A particularly delightful feature was the outstanding breakfast which was excellent - cereal, scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon, chocolate souflet, croissants, jam and butter. Magnifique!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Once a again Booking.com found us a real gem. From the moment you step through the door of the Chambres d'hôtes Loire-charmilles you are made to feel part of the family. Our room was exquisite and beautifully decorated and the bed, so big and comfortable, You just need to watch out for the low beams. The garden is beautiful and a wonderful place to spend time just relaxing and our host Nadia brought me a cold beer which was just what I needed after a long drive. The breakfast room was once an old presbytery that's situated in the garden and you are just left awe struck when you first enter, the attention to detail is magnificent. The food...Wow! all I can say is Nadia our host should be writing books on cooking. Our hosts had some friends over for dinner including another Irish man and his wife and we were invited to join them in the presbytery. What a wonderful evening it was, the table had rose petals scattered around two big candelabras and Beautiful food, Beautiful wine and good friends to share it with what more could you ask for. Thank you Nadia for the most wonderful evening. It may sound corny but if I could, I would give a rating of Twenty-out-of-Ten. It really is that good. If I return again next year to the Course de Côte de La Pommeraye (motorsport) I will definitely be staying here. Thank you all...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The whole property is lovely, the hostess very welcoming, charming and helpful and the room very comfortable with a beautiful modern bathroom.
Cons: It was obvious that great thought and care had gone into the renovation of what had been the attic, giving a character filled room with modern facilities - however there were two rather low beams which challenged our aging backs

Pros: Veronique was very friendly and welcoming. The property was very nice and recently renovated, the garden is currently being renovated. The breakfast was fresh and served very well. The location was excellent, for the town centre and also the tour de France which was the reason for our visit to Cholet. The room and bed were large and comfortable.
Cons: Our room was over looking the street, there is a bar next door and talking went on til midnight making it a bit noisy. The shower was awkward to get the head to stay up. We only had 1 towel each and the room wasn't cleaned daily but we only stayed 2 nights so wasn't a problem. The room could benefit from a fridge as it was very hot on our stay and we were unable to keep drinks cool.

Pros: The Château is Stunning and the views are out of this world looking out onto the Japanese gardens. The food was amazing too especially breakfast well worth €12.
Cons: The bedroom was a bit too basic and the curtains were broken. I wished I’d booked a deluxe room now they looked stunning.

Pros: If you need a chateau in this part of France it is hard to imagine anything finer. Lovely condition, good pricing, wonderful food.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Truly a chateau hotel experience in France. A beautiful property that has been restored / maintained to high standards. Furnishings are largely original antiques in many cases. The staff was helpful and professional. Restaurant in the hotel is superb. Décor of restaurant is elegant. Service exceptional. Great wine list and broad menu choices. Breakfast was equally good. Highly recommended experience for discriminating travelers.
Cons: There were no shortfalls for this type of hotel / restaurant experience.
10.0 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing to stay in a real chateau, beautiful building, lovely meal, and location, excellent stay!
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The Château checkin area forms a sweeping stairway upto the bedrooms and directly up is the most fantastic ceiling I've ever seen, the effort and restoration was clearly a lengthy one but I have to say simply WOW. The corridor to the bedrooms have engraved detailed panels the complete length of the corridor which looks awesome. The views from the bedrooms are picturesque with the water meandering past the Château. Simply have to go to this Château if your on a road trip as if it couldn't get better.....the food was perfect with attentive staff for your every need.
Cons: Sockets and lighting in the room Both lacking
5.8 Okay
Pros: Historical surrounding, beautiful views and central position
Cons: Price, choice and quality of evening meal.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Our second visit to the Chateau did not disappoint. It is a very lovely, very French, building, with welcoming multilingual staff. It is a small hotel and at times you could feel it is your home. Dream on. The restaurant serves outstandingly good food and wines in a charming, small and elegant dining room. Breakfast, again gives one the feeling of having been transported to much more refined and leisure style of living is served in a beautiful small room looking down into the entrance court yard. There was absolutely nothing missing in the selection of food on offer and you served yourself, no staff in sight, perfectly lovely. Our room was quite small in the eves of the building. the bathroom seems to be brand new and very clean. Nice towels and nice smelling shower gel. Previously we had a room on the first floor which as huge and full of antiques but sadly only had a French size double bed. I like very big bed ( 6 feet +) or twin beds. Twin bedded rooms in France are difficult to find and often not the biggest rooms as in this case, but the room was none the less charming with a nice view of the gardens.
Cons: Not that easy to find in the dark
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very nice. The rooms are spacious and clean. And the food is good
Cons: They do not automatically book a table at the restaurant for the guests of the hotel and there is nothing else near by - hence book a table for lunch and/or dinner at the restaurant when you book your room otherwise you won't be able to eat ! (Which would be a shame because the restaurant is very good)

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, just off the motorway, was ideal for our visit to the Layon and Anjou vineyards. The property was scrupulously clean, and had everything a holiday maker could wish for, except facility for making one's own tea and coffee. But that is not a French thing! We didn't use the pool but could've! The recommendation our host made for evening meal and lunch, the day we left, were ones we found to be first rate.
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Deep in the heart of the French countryside; close to Maulévrier, lies a hidden jewel - Château La Frogerie. A place hidden from the ‘rush’ of the outside world. One of quietness/silence, situated at the end of a long driveway. The patron; Jean Christophe, greets all visitors with panache and style that makes one feel very comfortable. A greeting to be cherished for its sincerity in welcoming you into a special house full of charm and elegance, a world insulated from the external throng of the frenetic world - a place one goes on holiday to get away from. Château La Frogerie is a delightful residence located in lovely grounds/gardens complete with swimming pool and moat-type lake running around part of the property. The Château has a small discreet private car park, secure within the grounds next to the property. In addition to the bedrooms, the property has two main public rooms - an expansive sitting room and a renaissance breakfast room, within which an excellent breakfast is served each morning. The building is an original Château that although shows signs of its elderly heritage, exhibits a character of charm and sophistication through its period decoration. The property has been lovingly cared for. Nearby, in one direction lies the small town of Maulévrier where the Japanese Oriental Gardens/Park is located - the purpose of our trip to the region. As a bonus; in the opposite direction to the Château lies the town of Cholet which has some excellent restaurants. Some things cannot be bettered, and, as life is too short to take second best, Château La Frogerie is certainly a wonderful place to spend a week or stop over for part of one’s journey - highly recommended.
Cons: Nothing we did not like.

Cons: Not easy to find. Restaurant service, with one exception was not top class. Room not ready on arrival (around 5.00 pm) allocated different smaller room.

Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and the bed was amazing. The eco swimming pool was innovative and refreshing. All round wonderful place.
Cons: The lake was very green with mosquitoes and not as inviting as I would have liked for kayaking on.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel - fantastic building and grounds. Large comfortable rooms and excellent en suites. Suitable for couples or families.
6.3 Good
Pros: This chateau has a beautiful façade and has some amazing facilities. Our personal favourites were the sauna and tennis court. The hotel location is pretty magical if you are looking for a place to unplug and unwind. Lastly, the staff member who checked us out gave us a wonderful little restaurant to eat before our long drive to the Dordogne area.
Cons: Unfortunately, we would not return or recommend based on the following reasons: - The Wi-Fi did not work in our rooms. We were unintentionally unplugged. - The bed duvet cover had a cigar sized burn hole making it very unappealing to use - Our room had no windows so after a while you feel incredibly claustrophobic. We were basically sleeping in the attic of a side building to the chateau - The room had a pretty strange odor that would come and go and we could not figure out where it was coming from at all. There was a diffuser in the room that was empty so unfortunately it could not do its job.

Pros: Very comfortable and beautifully furnished room with a great shower. Lovely quiet location. Don't think there were any croissants available for breakfast (I didn't ask!) but it was all very nice particularly the cassis jam.
Cons: It was all very nice. Not sure about the coffee making facilities under the TV in the living room; might have been better in the kitchen/dining room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous room with four-poster bed, ensuite and views over bubbling stream. Great breakfast with homemade crumble (delicious but I'd had too much fresh bread and jam). Lovely hosts. So lovely lots of guests are regulars.
Cons: Out of control of property but phone signal was hit & miss. But this is fabulous if you want peace & quiet.

Pros: Very peaceful . Excellent shower- wonderful hot water.
Cons: Room rather dark and a drop in temperature made the room a little cold. More plug sockets would be good.

Pros: La Grange has thought of everything to make this a comfortable stay - We were looking after our 15 month year old so happy to hang out all day in the barn, we appreciated the large well equipped kitchen, there were also toys and books at our disposal and the swimming pool was a bonus!! Wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you Francoise
