The beds, the beds, the beds!! Simply the best beds ever. Beautiful interior design, luxuriuos without being pretentious or over elite. Every single thing in this hotel is considered with the customer in mind and makes for the most enjoyable stay. Will always stay there when in Kent now. About time canterbury had a hotel of this standard. Nothing.
Really good service. Even to the point of giving us a free glass of champange as it was our anniversary Parking is not grat although they will give you a discount on public car park fees if all the car parking spaces are full
The bed They forgot to deliver our newspaper on the second day
It's location - so close to the shops, restaurants and catherdral. Plus, the hotel just felt nice. Although the staff were really polite when checking in, they then ignored our entrances and exits through the lobby thereafter - a good evening every now and then would have been appreciated. The bathroom was also a little sub-standard given the cost of the room.
upgraded to enviable room, it was fanastic especially the bath, ate in the hotel restaurant and that was superb too.We were treated like royalty. The hotels location is second to none car parking is a problem
The bed was very comfortable The fact that you dont provide a 'full english' breakfast
We had a large room and staff were very friendly. Shower was not very powerful and the bathroom was cold. The full English breakfast was a bit small.
Comfortable rooms - good media facilities (telly, DVD player, CD player, bathroom was good. Excellent refurbishment of hotel. Breakfast on Bank holiday was poor with a full hotel the buffet was not replenished adequately and service was very slow. Lack of 'care' and personal service from staff. Rather expensive, for room size, breakfast should be included in the price.
Disappointed that the fire alarm went off twice, no hot water in the morning, and they only took off 20% off one night of the hotel bill. Besides that it was good
Lovely town and excellent food Shower in hotel was poor, needed new shower head
Can't beat the location. Front desk staff were very unprofessional. One man at the front desk argued with me when I complained about a slamming door that kept us up all night, rather than trying to help! I had to investigate myself to solve the problem. Staff could use some lessons in hospitality. Also, I had to ask for my baby's cot 3 times, before it finally arrived at 10PM.
Excellent room, warm and large. Shower needed a de-scale.
Comfortable rooms Not enough tables for breakfast. Slow service
Comfortable room, comfortable bed, nice duvet/pillows (choice of feather/hypoallergenic type) airy room, good breakfast.
I liked that the hotel was so central . the staff very polite and very helpful The breakfast was horrible. very overcooked . we had toast though .Also the room we had , room 16, was very noisy .
We enjoyed I stay here. Convenient for shopping, good atmosphere, good breakfast, easy check-in, staff helpful and friendly.
The staff were good. I stay in a lot of hotels and the information about the room etc is not satisfactory good location though & small but all night bar Plenty. It did not feel clean, the rooms were small and ill equiped and very dated bathroom etc
The hotel was ideally located for station, shops and restaurants. The staff were efficient, friendy and helpful. The room and bathroom were rather cold - this is a statement of fact rather than a complaint
Car parking facilities and friendly staff also excellent shower! Room a bit small and no room service menu
proximity to city centre we were in the annexe (Tap Rooms?) about 6 feet from an unbelievably noisy pub whose clientelle spilled out on to the street and shouted and kept us awake until 2.00am. unimaginative selection of breakfasts, would have expected more than just the "full english" or parts there of
Location Very noisy so not much sleep.
The setting was amazing! Peaceful and Tranquil. You felt almost like you were part of the clergy. Really, its not that I didn't like it, however, it wasn't totally clear that the hotel is In the Cathedral Grounds! The way-finding wasn't too clear.
Location Basic accomadation no extra's
Beautiful view from our window overlooking the cathedral with a Christmas tree covered in lights. Windows in the room let in the cold.
The Hotel was really nice and the location was great no complaints, I was very happy
The hotel was clean and staff very helpful. No bad points
Ideal location in the centre to town and very quiet. The staff is very hepful. The rooms are spacious and very clean.
Wonderful location overlooking Canterbury Cathedral (great view from room) and just a short walk from the old part of the city. Very helpful staff. Breakfast was only 'continental' and rather uninspired. No hotel bar - felt a bit awkward sitting round in the library.
Clean, well managed. The discounted price made it affordable. The full price would not be value for money, local hotels offer more for the same price.
The location within the precint of Canterbury Cathedral. My room had a great view of the cathedral which was very special in the evening when all the visitors had left. everything was fine, there was nothing not to like about this place.
The best thing about this hotel is its fabulous location Would have preferred a full english breakfast and bar facilities
The Victoria Hotel is in a good location. The staff and the restaurant are the winning points.
The receptionist was great and enthusiastic. Bed was comfy, room was small but the shower worked..so all in all quite a comfortable stay. The mug in the room for tea/coffee was really dirty.
Room was too warm and could not adjust the temperature
i had business meetings and fount that the hotel was very close to the main A2, ut also walking distance to the centre of Canterbury.
Comfortable bed. Good sized bathroom. Narrow room with little space at foot of bed. Traffic noise. Lack of furniture (bedside cabinet only one side of bed). Noise from other guests in corridor.
Clean, spacious and comfortable room. Not too far from the city centre. Staff friendly and helpful.
The excellent staff were both welcoming and helpful, genuinely happy to welcome us to Canterbury
easy to get to, good basic price for a good basic hotel, staff were very friendly Hotel rooms were spotless, but stairs were a bit worn and dusty
The rooms were spacious the bed comfortable but tired looking. But we enjoy staying here.
staff very friendly lovely clean warm room very relaxed nothing
The friendliness of staff and the way everything about our stay was explained to us Noisy people outside the bar late into the night.
Location on the seafront The hotel never seems to be "finished" in terms of refurbishment. Having stayed there 3/4 times either decoration of room or refit has not been completed..
Location, good breakfasts Hotel rooms somewhat outdated
The staff were very freindly and helpful The room was more basis than advertised on their website
On the seafront and within walking distance fom the raiway station and a short bus ride to Canterbury this was an excellent place to stay while visiting my elderly relatives. The room was clean, food was good and the staff were friendly.
Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Sea Views, fresh air and easy parking. Pleasant parade of charity and antique shops in Tankerton. Confusion over lack of sea view. Hotel maintained messages put on booking.com are not received by hotel. Eventually sorted out.
Very comfortable room, nice and warm during an extremely cold weekend, well placed for a walk into Whitstable and trip to Canterbury.
I loved the relaxing nature of the hotel, lovely staff great bar, fab breakfast. Great sea view. No
The hotel had a great atmosphere - really quaint. Staff were friendly and helpful, and left us to it. None
We found the hotel comfortable but basic - it was an excellent choice for the purpose of our trip. We were visiting our nephew at the university it was our own fault but we booked a room with a shared bathroom - we prefer en suite
The rooms and the hotel in general were very comfortable and good looking. From the window, we could see the famous Canterbury Cathedral which is actually adjacent to the hotel itself. The breakfast included in the price was served directly in the room, but it is also possible to have it in the common dining room. The toilets and the showers were very clean. The bin in the room was full of garbage when we arrived in the hotel. The toilet paper in the common toilet finished and no one came to replace it.
Very nice four poster bed; interesting and charming room (tiny bit cluttered though?) but clean. Friendly and speedy check-in and check- out; pleasant staff all round. Interesting hotel with history and great location. Good view of the Cathedral from the room. Very poor shower - no pressure at all. No one greeted us at breakfast, so delays in getting served, and table not set out properly. Generally unsuitable dining room - had we known how claustrophobic it was we would have chosen to eat in the room. Comparable hotels would have had hot breakfast included in the price.
The place is over 500 years old, and looking at the height of the door frames, I would guess that to be correct. I felt like I was staying in a museum, and I mean that in a good way. It was really cool sitting there thinking that people had been staying in the same room I was in for the past few hundred years. The hotel faces a really nice little square on one side, and looks out over Canterbury Cathedral and its surrounding yard on the other. Its a great location for exploring the town, and the prevalence of the Star Bucks right under the hotel made my friends happy they were able to connect history with 21st century consumerism. The room I stayed in had a 30 degree angle slant which made for an odd first couple steps if you got out of bed. But granting that the room was a few centuries old, I could understand it. It even added to the charm I suppose. You were forced to share a toilet and shower with the floor, but even though the hotel was supposedly fully booked I never had any issues with either being occupied. They were clean, and it didn't really bother me, but might not be something seeking a private bed/bath would like.
Location. Views on the Cathedral and right in the centre of Canterbury. Plenty of choice with the Continental breakfast. Labyrinth to find rooms. Uneven floors due to age. Average furnishing. About 500 metres to nearest car park.
Right in the centre, plenty of character.
Good location in the centre next to the high street shops and cathedral. I was cold in the room, did not know how to get more heat from the radiator. Also the window did not close well and it was a rainy and cold day. The tv is really very small with only about 3 channels working, only one clearly. It seemed a bit like camping, not good in winter. Only a sink in the room and old fashion, water either too hot or too cold. Room very small, oldish, but that is to be expected in an old building.
location could not arrange breakfast before 8.00
Excellent staff, wonderful location and fantastic value for money. Thank you Nothing
Hotel rooms in need of renovation
Convenience, comfortable room and food excellent Room was on the 'road side' so noisy at pub closing time
Friendly staff and closeness to city centre. Pub had cosy fire. No free parking.
Location, bar area was lovely Shower tray didn't drain, curtains hanging off rail, strange smell in stairwell, tv in room only had 4 channels, not freeview like most other 4 star hotels. This was a 3 star hotel at best, sorry
friendly staff na
The cleaniness and friendly staff
near the city centre could do with re decoration.
Quiet, non-smoking, good breakfast, interesting buildings, off- road parking. None really.
The staff were particularly pleasant
no mini bar in room no glasses in room
nice village location, close to canterbury heating in bedroom warm air
Key system to room
Great place to stay with old fshioned service and friendly staff. Food is excellent value and the Kentish breakfast a must!
Nice place to stay. We were travelling on, so we stayed only one night. Perfect to visit Kent.
The staff was great and responsive. We had to change rooms due to toilet not working. Then, the new room had no toilet paper and the window crank was missing.
Access to full Freeview channels on TV Food not stunning, and felt very much an outstider when walking through the bar to get to the restaurant. Also seemed to be a nuisance as large parties were expected that evening!
Very friendly staff
Clean and comfortable room Cold water and shower - boiler broken! Poor quality of breakfast.
staff and facilities were as to be expected, yet somehow seemed better than other Holiday Inns i have stayed in. N/A
THe Room was clean and the beg comfortable Access fom Canterbury was really complicated and the signs to the hotel were poor
I thought adding 50% on the price for our wednesday night for no added reason was steep, Tuesday and Thursday night was right price for the standard room. Not enough seating in eating area had to wait 30mins for a table, lounge area too small and very cold
The room i well designed and just right for a short stay. Too much traffic noise with the window open. Suggest customer is given the option of a room further from road if available
Excellent service No lift available. Only continental breakfast available.
comfortable, clean room with good bathroom facilities. Breakfast nice and available at sensible times for a change! Staff freindly. Silly location.
The room was basic but clean and was just what I expected On both evenings I stayed there I asked for an extra quilt on the sofa bed and didn't get one although I was given two extra pillows. Too tired to keep moaning.
Convenient for our destination. Good size room and very clean. A bit noisy from hotel work during the early hours.
The location to the centre of the town, the friendliness of the staff and comfortable rooms.
Loved the atmosphere, the food, and drinks. It was a very cozy hotel room, very enjoyable.
we really liked its cleanliness and friendliness the plastic chairs looked a bit tacky compared with the rest of the style of the hotel
Great staff, very friendly
location no TV, no cooked breakfast on Mondays, room v small
Friendly and helpful staff, good location, sufficiency of information brochures, reasonable price, tasteful breakfast I missed some spirits and hot bevereges in the bar
staff ver good and obliging breakfast good executive rrom but not executive quality no satelite TV room very cramped
The atmosphere and charm of hotel and being so close to the buzz of Canterbury
The friendliness of the staff and attention to detail, leaving an anniversary card and chocolates in our room. The traffic was quite an issue and building works right opposite but not too bad. Also a guest above pacing the floor at all times of the night over creaking floorboards did keep my husband awake.
Charming hotel. Wonderful food Wireless internet reception limited
The staff were very polite and very helpful, also the breakfast was excellent!!! Hotel and Gardens beutiful.very happy hotel!.
Quiet location, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms with hot water. Very helpfull and cheerfull staff. Plenty of parking and nice grounds. Breakfast was not very inspiring. An apple/cereal/tinned tomatoes/bad coffee in a thermos
lovely rooms, particularly thye lounge by the fire! Excelent on a cold afternoon.
We booked a poster bed and a twin room but ended up with two double rooms.
Lovely surroundings, good food and excellent staff Very warm in bedrooms on sunny days. If a function was taking place, it would be a bit noisy.
The excellent customer services, even when I checked in at 9:30pm I was warmly greated, I settled into my room and then had a drink in the bar...great open log fire , comfortable and friendly. Really nice place . Maybe the tables in the breakfast room were too close and made for limited conversation without over hearing the table next door.
Staff very friendly and helpfull. Room very clean and comfortable and breakfast was very nice. None
the staff were friendly and the resaurant was excellent. the bathrooms were a little small.
a geat place to stay and value for money
Friendly staff, good location, excellent dinner and breakfast, clean and comfortable. My sister tripped on a shallow step outside our bedroom as we went down to breakfast. The hotel building is very old, which is part of its charm, but this step should be marked to warn guests. My sister sprained both ankles quite badly, which rather spoilt our enjoyment of the remainder of our stay in Canterbury and restricted what we could do.
good food, comfortable bed no
Everything it was perfect
Location and atmosphere. Nice pub and lovely open fire. Breakfast was wonderful Nothing
Lovely hotel situated in a very quaint village. Food was excellent. The staff friendly and accommodating to our needs. Unfortunately our bedroom was over the boiler room and the pump was giving out a huming noise all night.
The location was excellent in a quiet village. The room itself was confortable and well appointed, quite charming. The staff were friendly and attentative and the food very good.
The smell of the foliage! but not a major problem.
relaxed and friendly
Friendly staff great food quiet location. Bedroom was above kitchen with a noisy boiler or extractor fan
Cosy, historical room. Excellent food at breakfast and dinner. Convenient parking.
The staff were particularly friendly and catered to all the needs of our party (20 people in total). Our room was in a converted old building and was very compact. It was fine for one night - not sure that I would want to spend more than a couple of days in that room.
Friendly staff, individually cooked breakfast no separate lounge/bar area for residents-the hotel was packed with diners
Very good value for money. Very friendly staff.
Great stay loved everything about the hotel, staff fanstastic and you cant get a better location - we will be back soon and would defo recomend
excellent hotel staff and lovely rooms the stairs are a bit small when carrying large suit cases
Excellent breakfast, Staff very helpful. The family room not so comfortable. No elevator.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. The location was perfect for the Marlowe as well as bars, pubs and restaurants.
Room was comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Covenient location for city centre.
The location is excellent and just off the main high street in Canterbury and a 5 minute walk from the railway station. For a budget hotel, it also provided an excellent cooked breakfast. A thick layer of dust on the dressing table where the T.V was perched!
being in city centre, staff very friendly and helpful car parking not closeby
convenience for shops and Cathedral, people very friendly and informative a little awkward to find when driving.
Good location, clean & comfortable rooms, helpful staff.
It was anice friendly hotel with good safe parking and a loverly room ( I had the bridal suite for some reason!!!) The evening meal I had was not good and the whole hotel smelt of smoking- not acceptable really! The shower was poor - It should be a proper shower not a hand held job!!!
It served its purpose The cost of the breakfast
The style and comfort of the bedrooms, good selection of tv channels, staff who were always professional There was no mention of bar meals being available, only found out because other people dined in the bar. Thought the price for breakfast was expensive it was much cheaper in your Wales hotels.
The warmth and friendlyness of all members of staff that we came into contact with. Also, the cuisine (quality and quantity) was excellent.
the location and the charm
Excellent facilities. A very pleasant hotel. Nothing
Helpfulness of the staff Ventilation was not too good; bathroom window very hard to open to anybody below 6'.
nice bedroom very comfortable noisy pre party group in the bar
I only stayed for one night so my experience of the hotel and its facilities is limited. I enjoyed the comfortable bar although the wine is far too expensive at nearly £5 a glass! No wonder no-one was using it! I also liked not having to leave until 11 a.m. The price of the wine!
lovely room helpful staff we had a couple of late nights and could have done with breakfast later than 9pm
We stayed in Room No.3. The staff were all helpful and polite. I cannot fault it in any way.
location was ideal to visit cathedral and museum I do not think this is a 4 star hotel
It was slightly off the main drag so it was quieter in the evenings, but only a 10 minute walk to pubs and restaurants. If you go down to breakfast after 9am they appear to run out of some food but make up for it with something else i.e no sausages so gave extra bacon, in the coach house after 11pm the outside door shuts and there was no light shining for you to find the keyhole, parking was a bit hit and miss
It is a place you go back to as a family home. Lovely people and a great location.
Exceptionally clean Hotel with perfectly prepared room. Top quality bed linen and towels. Relatively small en-suite but with large shower compartment. Spotlessly cleaned. Excellent breakfast worthy of London 4 star Hotel. None
Staff very nice, they seemed happy, no sour faces here! 5 minute walk to Canterbury town centre. Food was good, service also good. No delay upon checkout either. None really
Well situated, nice room ,quiet, good car park, nice breakfast. Noisy plumbing during the night.
Very clean and well maintained. Lots of hot water. There were four of us in the room, but they only provided two cups.
We had a large family room, which was very comfortable and warm during a very cold period. Only BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, and Channel 4 available on tv.
We were satisfied about our stay in Peregrine House. Excellent location for tourism.
Quiet, clean, city centre location. Parking was difficult close to the Hotel, but free at the sister hotel.
The hotel was charming! The room was large with big windows. The facility was very clean. The location was perfect - central to the attractions. The walk to Canterbury Cathedral was about 5 minutes and the train station about 10 minutes. The staff was very accommodating - we arrived early and were able to check into our room early as well. The staff allowed us to leave our bags after we checked out and were very kind to us. The breakfast was great and included in the price. We loved our stay here! I have nothing negative to say about our stay.
Well located, close to Cathedral & resturants. Staff were trying hard with a newish business. It was over priced, with unsuitable bedding and a poor breakfast. The staff said that they had previously received the feedback that we gave them.
Quality of the room. Regular staff.pleasant and helpful. Noise of door banging. Dreadful noise from outside on Saturday night. Poor English of some new staff. Lack of light summer duvets.
Fairly central location, good amenities, friendly staff although no reception desk at the peregrine house. I think a bit expensive. Contact should be made prior to arrival since no reception desk at the place itself.
