Made very welcome by the Nathalie and Francois, the owners and shown to one of their outstanding rooms facing onto the canal and 'source'. The new hotel blends perfectly with the architecture of the original mill which is the restaurant and breakfast area. The food on Sunday evening was excellently prepared by Francois and extremely good value for money at 22 euro each as was breakfast the next morning. It is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed - it's spectacular at night as the mill and all the surrounding area is lit - shame it was poor weather as there were loungers everywhere to relax. We will certainly be going back if we are passing by that way again. We had difficulty finding the hotel as it was not signposted well. We were told there were 2 villages Gudmont & Villiers and the hotel is in Villiers over the bridge and down by the canal Marne, but it's definitely worth finding!
It is wonderful , very paceful and picturesque place with a very good food.
As we were returning from a holiday in Frejus this was a stop-over on the way to Zeebruger. We enjoyed our meals very much and the staff were friendly and efficent. we have stayed in Campanile hotels in previous years and always found them clean and confortable and would not hesitate to book in one at some future date.
Staff friendly and accommodating, location ideal for our business activity, food and drink great value
Room was quite nice Breakfast was poor
Very comfortable, excellent bed/linen. Good breakfast. For us it does what we need , a good rest before either travelling either N or S It was hot therefore 'air conditioning' would be useful.
Good size room, very comfy bed, also had kettle, tea, coffee & biscuits. Easy to find, ideal as a stop over.
The evening meal was surprisingly good, although a bit pricey. The hotel site was difficult to find, we had the benefit of sat nav fortunately.
Easy to reach by road, comfortable bed, clean, on-site paring. Good for 1 night overnight stay. Breakfast, cold buffet, quite expensive for English visitors (9 euros = £8)
The room was clean and comfortable, of a reasonable size, and the decor good. The beds were comfortable. The hotel was easy to find, and conveniently located, as a base for a short holiday break in that region. Adequate car parking was adjacent to the rooms. Though the female receptionist on duty when we arrived spoke no English, this was not too much of a problem, and the male receptionist on duty the following day spoke good English, and was friendly and helpful. We should be happy to stay there again, if visiting that area. The dinner menu choice was somewhat limited, and overpriced, and compared rather unfavourably with our local restaurants back home in England, in terms of meal quality, and value for money. The continental breakfast, in terms of what was provided was adequate, and in line with expectations, but was rather overpriced. I have to acknowledge that the low value of the British pound against the euro, was also a factor when considering value for money for the meals, and room.
the room was very clean and beds comfortable and the family room had a good sized clean shower room The food at the restaurant was not of a good standard. I would advise other guests eat prior to arriving at the establishment. The waitress who served us, was also unattentive, she had the be asked 4 times to bring glasses of water for the children. The food when it did arrive was not the same as the description on the menu and the waitress was not prepared to help us out using english even though we tried out best with the french language. Do not order the sausages ever !
The twin room was very pleasant and the beds were comfortable. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The food was well prepared. St Dizier is a small provincial town and a ten minute walk from the hotel brings you to its centre. Free parking is available opposite the hotel.
Friendly staff. Closed early, no bar facility open
Good evening meal Hotel was closed until 6pm - it would have been helpful to have known this in advance.
Well situated a short walk from the historic town centre. Efficient restaurant and good breakfast.
Very good position near town/station/main road. Staff very corteous. Breakfast simple but good. Parking across road. Liked the canal walk nearby. Visited relatives in Vavincourt and saw Lac du Der plus various Abbeys incl.Trois Fontaine. Very small room esp. bathroom but Ok for 2 of us.
although late due to delays on Eurostar we managed to gain access at 10.50. we were very grateful since there was no alternative for 6 double rooms. The beer was fantastic! The restaurant looked very good. We tried to communicate in what we considered to be passable French to explain our delay and annoyingly the girl on reception could not understand anything. The owner in the morning had good English and was very friendly.
Excellent staff, especially in view of the lack of electricity in the morning. Food not as good as advised on website.
Staff seemed friendly, car park handy across the road, beds comfortable, en-suite clean and tidy, restaurant meal quite good. Room rather small for twin beds and a wardrobe but it's good they provide twin bedded rooms. We could have done without the wardrobe.
A fabulous location. Helpful and meticulous staff who were attentive to my less than adequate French and tried especially hard to accommodate me. The hotel restaurant was better than most of the local eateries too. They have odd hours. The hotel was closed and locked on Friday evening when I returned. If I had better French skills I would have known this. However the staff had left me a note translated into English explaining how to 'get in'. And the manager followed up to make sure all was well. I was quite impressed.
