we were delightfully surprised to find that the hotel had a free "shuttle" when we were headed out for dinner. It really wasn't a shuttle …. more like a very nice, well dressed young man driving a nice sedan to our location. A great touch! The doorman was awesome as well. Very personable, approachable, and helpful.
The art collection was great.
The noise traveled into the rooms from the hallways. It was very easy to hear my neighbors going in & out of their rooms in the morning.
The location is great. Just a block off of Mag Mile if you are there to shop. Trader Joe's across the street if you want to buy snacks/water for the room. Close/walkable to downtown (Loop) and River North neighborhoods. The staff was great and my wife loved the bathroom products (shampoo/conditioner/body wash)
THIS HOTEL IS NOT 5 STAR. Kayak has it listed as 5 star and it is not. Closets are very small...only a couple of feet wide. Not a lot of drawer space. If traveling on business, not easy to work in room.
Great location. All the staff friendly efficient nothing too much trouble . Room spaceous and clean. The best hotel we've stayed in.EXCELLENT. Would definately stay again.
First. Stay there and was given a free upgrade
great staff with helpful info.
Staying at the James in Chicago was a real pleasure. It is a very nice hotel to come home after a long day.
The hotel was luxurious, however there was a problem with the room card/key it didn't work on 3 different occasions, I had to get help from the concierge. I missed the deadline for reserving a room at an advantageous rate for the Spak/Schechner wedding and paid a lot of money to Hotwire for my room. No deal with them... I did have a delux room though and would recommend this hotel to those who can afford it. I inquired about the use of a swimming pool at the hotel and the desk folks told me I could use the pool at the Sheraton across the street. Wonderful! I did and felt relaxed and refreshed after my swim.
The card/room key didn't work on 3 different occasions.
location, room and staff
room internet access was slow
location and decor
The location for shopping, business and sightseeing is excellent. The hotel has a hip, trendy vibe that feels like a welcome touch of Manhattan or Copenhagen. Nice touches like the computer terminals in the lobby and CD player in the room round out the package.
One morning I went down to the restaurant for breakfast and the restaurant had been closed for a private event. This was a minor annoyance but it seemed no contingencies had been made.
It was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
