Good location, decent view, comfortable bed and good cable package.
Some little things were off. For example, the room didn't have a coffee maker and they expected us to go down 14 stories to get our morning coffee. Also parking by the hotel is extremely expensive. They suggested parking at the valet next door (who was somewhat rude) for $60 a night. We found a place we could walk to the hotel from that was about half that price.
The location was excellent, allowing easy access to the centre of Chicago. The prices were good too. I also liked the ability to decline housekeeping for a daily credit at the bar.
Everything was starting to get a bit old... The office chair was missing from my room, the headboard was worn down to the threads. In general the place could do with a mini refurbishment. It's not the big things, but the little things that let it down.
Great location in the city and a great value for the money. Charming 1920's era hotel.
Internet isn't free and even once you pay you can really stream anything. I suppose this would be a problem if you had kids that wanted to watch movies on computer or iPad. Other than that the place was great.
Clean, updated facilities. Friendly staff. Nice restaurant/lounge with good food and reasonable prices. Perfect location!
The bellman is required to use the luggage cart; guests are not. It took them about 40 minutes to bring up our luggage upon arrival. Not sure what happened. When we left, I again expressed my concern from that incident saying we didn't have time to wait. They were very timely and understanding.
I liked the location on the Michigan Ave. and the bar service and ambiance.
I prepaid for the 3rd level upgrade and when I checked in was given the base room. I went back down to check in and she apologized but first said there were no rooms available for what I reserved. I asked what was available and she kept her head down and eventually said I found something for you. "An Executive King Room" I asked? "Uh..yes" she replied. What I got was a small cramped and awkward room with a king bed crammed into it and a tiny bathroom where you had to open the shower door to sit on the toilet.
The inability to use a luggage cart without retaining a bell boy.
Great location, beautiful design
Small room size, less than friendly front desk
I loved the decor and old feel!!!
I had to call down twice to get towels and it took them so long I sent my husband to go grab some off a cart!!!
As our trip to Chicago, we were really tired since we woke up at 4am to go to the airport. We got to your hotel about 1pm and we come to the front desk and give the confirmation that we book to the guy. For some reason, He just acted like we never book the room and he started to ask where did you book the room from. As I said, I book from Kayak and the fuy started to shake his head and show his attitude about our visit not suppose to be there. We wait about 5 mins and he told us that we dont have any room for you guys yet... I told him that I just check in online and I put in out arrival before 3pm. Then he started look up again then he told us that there will be the room available at 3pm for you guys. After hearing that, I am kind of mad because of our long travel. However, we were super tired and want to rest at that momment so we decided to ask if there any other room available. Then, I go back to ask the guy but he just ignored me and talk on the phone. He acted like he dont want to have any other conversation with me. It is really unprofessional and really unwelcome to the hotel. Luckily, There is another front desk guy so I decided to walk there after thag everything went smooth.
Staff was awesome! Location was awesome!
The rooms were a little small, but we didn't plan on spending much time in the room anyway, so it was ok. The beds are not made for a 6ft or above person. I am 5'11 and sleeping comfortably meant my feet hung off the bed (queen size bed). The room was well kept, except there was black tape holding the carpet down between the entry walkway area of room and the restroom. Overall, there were minor issues and didn't make our stay unpleasant!
From the moment we walked in we were treated with the upmost respect and the entire staff went over board to take care of us.
No free wifi in the room.
Room was dingy - I found a hair pin and crumbs on my floor. And the wallpaper was peeling.
Only the Location was good
Terrible service, the staff is rude, they over charge you for everything. The room was not confortable, worst service I have ever seen in a hotel! Wouldnt recomend anyone to stay here.
The city view room I stayed in was perfect for my needs; a place to sleep and unwind without any wasted space.
Staff was very friendly and professional. The concierge was terrific!
Room was cramped.
overall the hotel was really nice. it's in a great location and all the staff was friendly and very helpful. It would be nice if the wifi would be complementary and the items stocked in the fridge were well overpriced. overall the room was very clean and spacious. Had a great time.
Have t pay for WiFi
The location is awesome considering the price of the room.
The room, although cheap, was pretty small.
The filter in the ceiling heater was disgusting and looks like it was last cleaned in 1942. Just wondering how our lungs look.
Location, especially if ur going shopping or to MCA.
Lowest two levels of room r very small. If ur a plus size couple, upgrade to a room w a king size bed.
This hotel should be rated at most three stars. The facility is way too old for comfortable.
Small room , tiny beds, expensive parking etc
They provided the service I needed which was a place to sleep.
Because the entrance to the hotel was on Huron and not right on Michigan Av., it was hard to get a cab to get anywhere. The room was very small as well.
Room not ready on arrival. Requested extra linens and the smelled musty.
The location was great! Everything you need is within walking distance. The doorman was very courteous and helpful.
The room was small and the bed was terrible. The bed creaked terribly with any movement and the middle of the bed was very sunken. We arrived a little after 7am and we knew it was unlikely that we would be able to check in that early, but we were told they would try to get a room cleaned and they would call me when one was available. We did some sightseeing and came back around 10am to check again and we were told that there was a specific room held for us and they requested a rush on the cleaning. We stayed in the lobby for awhile to rest while we waited and witnessed multiple people checking into rooms. I checked again around 11am and we were told that our room still was not ready. We went to lunch to kill some more time and we came back around 12:30pm. At that time, we finally had a helpful desk agent tell us that our room was still not ready, but she had another room available. We didn't care which room we were in and it didn't help that they assigned a specific room to us. We would have taken the first room available from the start. This was very frustrating after traveling all night.
