Location in the heart of Chicago downtown. Lack of concern for the interests of customers. I was a Marriot Gold Elite member and after this recent stay I felt like I should quit the reward program for good.
Location is perfect you can literally walk to 5 STAR restaurants and catching a cab or uber no problem. The staff was great, my room was a little small with no view and when I asked to switch rooms they gave me a much bigger room with water/bridge view of the city on the 11th floor. The staff are very friendly and they made me feel at home. I'm from California and its always nice to feel welcome and greeted with a smile. The bathroom shower head is amazing you will want to stay as long as you can in the shower. The set up of the room is beautiful and modern. The view and large space in room is amazing, but the walls are thin and I can hear the elevator going up and down day and night and people talking in the hallways. I'm really big with bathrooms and I didn't like how the bathroom floor felt on my feet.
Cool, hip decor, great location to restaurants and 10Pin Bowling alley, just steps away from House of Blues, walking distance to shopping district and theater district, Marina Parking garage has great rates just next door. Finishes could use a makeover, I have stayed there for years and it could use an update. Would rather see a walk in shower instead of cheaper looking old tubs (however OUTSTANDING water pressure). Breakfast is a little pricey too.

Beautufully located in downtown Chicago, we enjoyed close proxumity to restaurants and attractions. The room had most everything one would expect, except a mini-fridge. We did not get to dine in the hotel but the bar and restaurant both looked great. Our 8th floor room had a brief view of the river but was obstructed by the parking garage. Parking is $71. We chose to park 4 blocks away ($20 overnight).
Great customer service! The staff was very helpful and informative. The Manager spent about 20 minutes with us outlining key points on a map he provided of places to go and things to see as well as the walking distance from the hotel. The whole staff was very friendly. The ambiance of the hotel decor & design was outstanding, not to mention the perfect view from our room. The location is superb & right in the center of Chicago's nightlife. The only thing that I didn't like about the place is that they shut down the pool area earlier than most hotels. But overall would rate this hotel a perfect 10. Great experience and would definitely recommend!

The hotel was very clean, staff went out of their way to accommodate my needs, very centrally located and convenient. Got a great deal on the price too! Outside of their control, the pipes froze around 10pm and there was no heat. I requested an extra blanket but it never arrived at least not by the time I fell asleep.
The rooms are nice size, it's in a great location, the fitness center is nice and the bar is popular. The rooms have an eclectic look. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is quiet. The staff was attentive and curtious. The price was very good for the location. We ordered food at the bar and they checked on it twice but it never came. Everything else was great

Great dining options available and close by to lots of shopping outlets. It would be wonderful if I could have a city view instead of facing another building since Chicago is such a nice city. Not close to any subways.
It may seem a bit expensive but the service is effective and prompt. They have in and out privileges and are quick to help There is no free WiFi but I have my own mobile plan.
Children was annoying and running during 6am in the other room and made me didn't rest well.
The hotel has decent accommodations and lives up to the name. The rooms are nice, the beds are comfortable, & the bathrooms are clean. (don't park there!!!!) PARKING PRICES, WTF!? Buying anything (aside from the room itself) from the Westin is out of the question/budget.
We loved how friendly the staff was. William went above and beyond for us! For the price, it would have been nice to have even a basic breakfast included.

Cookies in the lobby and friendly staff. Not very many amenities. Bathroom door didn't close all the way. Room didn't cool down enough.
Shopping and sightseeing were close by. I spilled coffee on my robe on the first morning and it wasn't replaced in the 6 days I stayed there. I don't think he says we're changed during those 6 days either. Otherwise the staff was really nice and the room very comfortable.
Very few amenites for what you pay. Service was slow at best. Concierce desk was helpful. Very good at housekeeping, but not worth the money you pay.
Good location for sure. I got to know you do not care about cleaning at all which I consider the most essential and important in choosing where to stay.

The accomodations were comfortable, the hotel beautiful, the location convenient, the staff extremely knowledgeable, friendly & helpful. Not really. A common suggestion that I have is in relation to the lights at the nightstand. Most places I've stayed, including this hotel, have both lights for double beds in between them. It would be better to have a light on the far side of the bed so the guest sleeping in the other bed is not disturbed by the late-night reader (me!).

Brenda served us for breakfast most days. She was a the best. Always attentive friendly. Took care of us well. Our last day we had a different waitress and our order wasn't right, we couldn't get her attention and had to get a manager in order to get our check. When you go for breakfast in the fabulous restaurant, ask for Brenda. Loved the green drink with Apple, spinach and ginger. It was really good.
The air conditioning. Our room was not ready at check-in. The bed skirt was torn and stained. The in-room movie played very poorly. The staff was unfriendly.
The people at Wyndham were so helpful making sure everything was perfect for us! No.

The location of this hotel is perfect. It's a few blocks away from the river, Michigan avenue, and the Lake. Our room was very chic. There are hardwood floors, a nice desk area, a large bathroom, and a balcony. The minibar and room service were appropriately priced. We also loved the doorman, TJ, he was always very friendly and had the best recommendations for places to go. Make sure to ask him if you need any assistance with activities or restaraunts. He was much better than the concierge inside the hotel. The only odd thing about the room is that the entire bathroom can be open to the bed. There is a curtain from the outside that only just covers it. The concierge at the hotel was also sub par. When I asked where to get sushi he suggested the hotel restaraunt and when I asked where to get bagels in the morning he suggested whole foods. I was unhappy with this service as a concierge because they should know the hot spots in the city.

We checked into the hotel at about 8 in the evening the night befor, and the desk clerk at that time let us know if we needed a late check-out just let the front desk know.... In the morning around 1030am, we requested from a different desk clerk a later check out time of an hour ot so. The clerk at the desk was undeservedly rude to us in telling us no. There are many better ways to deliver a no to a paying guest.

I liked the room and the view I drove from Milwaukee to Chicago for the overnight stay me and my fiancee for her birthday and we were hoping to attend the lounge on the rooftop and was denied due to a dresscode we knew nothing about i feel if i paid my money and staying at the hotel i should've been able to attend or at least tell your customers ahead of time about dresscode unfair and drove to Chicago for nothing completely disappointed

The Conrad Hotel was first class, very well located in downtown Chicago,with ecxellent service and clean comfortable rooms. I would highly reccommend it to anyone as a Chicago city hotel.

Staying at the James in Chicago was a real pleasure. It is a very nice hotel to come home after a long day.
The location of the James is ideal for visiting the River North area. The room is clean, reasonable size, and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Even on the 17th floor, there was a lot of street noise. We could even hear the saxophone player at the corner of Rush and Ohio! We also had a charge for the room honor bar that was added to our bill even though we did not use it. Watch your receipts!

The art collection was great. The noise traveled into the rooms from the hallways. It was very easy to hear my neighbors going in & out of their rooms in the morning.
The hotel was luxurious, however there was a problem with the room card/key it didn't work on 3 different occasions, I had to get help from the concierge. I missed the deadline for reserving a room at an advantageous rate for the Spak/Schechner wedding and paid a lot of money to Hotwire for my room. No deal with them... I did have a delux room though and would recommend this hotel to those who can afford it. I inquired about the use of a swimming pool at the hotel and the desk folks told me I could use the pool at the Sheraton across the street. Wonderful! I did and felt relaxed and refreshed after my swim. The card/room key didn't work on 3 different occasions.

I really loved/liked and grateful we were able to check in early when we arrived early in the morning after our flight. I think it's well worth it especially because we were staying only one night. For my taste, I liked the contemporary classy decor and atmosphere. The atmosphere in our room felt romantic. The king size bed and the comfort of the bed and linen was awesome for my taste. I especially liked the room my friends were staying in. They had a little movie projector room. We paid the same price but they were staying there a little bit longer than we were. But I did like their room. Staff was very friendly and informative when asked about recommendations of transportation and location of places nearby. Me personally, and just my opinion, we weren't too fond of the shampoo/conditioner and body wash scents.
The location is great. Just a block off of Mag Mile if you are there to shop. Trader Joe's across the street if you want to buy snacks/water for the room. Close/walkable to downtown (Loop) and River North neighborhoods. The staff was great and my wife loved the bathroom products (shampoo/conditioner/body wash) THIS HOTEL IS NOT 5 STAR. Kayak has it listed as 5 star and it is not. Closets are very small...only a couple of feet wide. Not a lot of drawer space. If traveling on business, not easy to work in room.

we were delightfully surprised to find that the hotel had a free "shuttle" when we were headed out for dinner. It really wasn't a shuttle …. more like a very nice, well dressed young man driving a nice sedan to our location. A great touch! The doorman was awesome as well. Very personable, approachable, and helpful.

The front desk service really put it over the top! The elevators took a long time and the one of the baristas on the main floor coffee shop was quite rude.
Liked everything about that Hotel. Would love more deals and hook ups but I really can't complain. Shopped around for a good price, they upgraded us without request and with no charge added. Staff was super pleasant and catered to us without question.
location decor is, in my opinion, a nightmare - trendy/eclectic but an overall mess rooms are tiny and also cheesy in design upstairs roof bar is great if you want a super loud clubby atmosphere. Would have been so much nicer without a DJ - let's leave that to Vegas.
Ambiance, food, staff, vibe...all set the stage for a relaxing few days for my husband and me. The workout facility lacks in equipment and smells like the kitchen so, an official relationship w the gym on the same block would make my stay perfect. We found a ping pong table in a conference room..silly as it sounds, that 1/2 was a highland of our getaway. I wonder if a hotel Rec room will now be on my hotel checklist. I will never voluntarily stay anywhere else in Chicago! Simply the best for location (we aren't Mi Ave people) and overall city charm!

Love the park view rooms at Christmas overlooking the Lincoln Park Zoo. Love the coffee shop and the restaurant appeared to be very nice. In a wonderful location at a very reasonable price. Just all around very nice. We had a wonderful time. Lobby was decorated beautifully. Closet in room was not big enough with that cart inside of it. Put that card as a bedside table with an electric outlet next to it for the coffee and it would be perfect. Wanted more TV channels, HGTV, etc.
Location, location, location and general friendliness of the staff. We stayed there on a special and paid about what it is worth, a third of the normal price A boutique hotel at this location is a great idea, but the decorating---plaids everywhere in a small space--is enough in itself to drive you mad. And it really doesn't cover up this was once a Day's Inn. You pay a lot of money for hotels in Chicago and this is a one of a kind location. That's about all it has going for it.
STAFF were supper friendly, nice, and helpful. Wonderful people all of them! Location is great! Look and decor were very cool. Hip and modern with a touch of swank. Sharp corners on end of bed that I kept running into. Not much clearance between lovely bed little desk. Have several bruises from passing between them.

The front desk staff were very nice and helpful, especially Edgar. The heat/air conditioning is provided by a wall unit, making it hard to find the optimal temperature in the room. I was either too hot or too cold.
Location is excellent for access to all Chicago has to offer. They are renovating and the construction noice was a bit tedious. My room was clean and adequate but there were visible signs of disrepair. Cracked drywall, buckled ceiling and signs of water damage on one wall.

My room had a beautiful view and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Decor is a bit dated and the pool was a too green for me to feel good about swimming in it.
We liked the cleaning lady. She was kind and the most professional. We also liked the gentlemen who helped us get a cab. He was kind and treated us like family. I didn't like how I specifically paid for a standard dooblw queen room months in advance for three days only to arrive and they tell me, "sorry we on have one queen a couch and a cot". This was not a first come first serve. They told me on the phone specifically what i would have. He room unpaid for. Never once did they try to accomidatw me the next day or offer a discount for the inconvenience.I paid over 700$ so my older boys could sleep on a cot that hurt his back and a roll out couch that the springs poked through . This was our first time to Chicago.

Location location location! We were so pleased with how close we were to all the attractions we wanted to see. Walking distance to everything! The staff was more than amazing; kind and helpful. We hadn't intended on using the pool but if we had we would have been disappointed bc it was closed for 48 hours (the length of our stay).
Nice pool. Parking was overpriced and when I asked the receptionist for assistance in locating cheaper parking, she told me that I would just have to walk around and find it. The security guard was very helpful in assisting me with that. Turns out a cheaper parking garage was actually next door. Got into my room to discover that they checked me in for the wrong room. I had ordered and had a confirmation receipt for a standard double, she had given me a single queen. When I tried to call down from the room phone, I could never get through to the front desk. When I called from my cell phone as a new customer, I was able to get through and it took some arguing and reluctance on the clerk's part and a long hold before they would honor the receipt I had for the room I paid for. I had ordered and paid for my room over a month in advance. No hotel restaurant or bar, which forces you to go next door to the Hilton and discover how much nicer their place is. I will not be staying here again.

Great accommodations for the price, friendly staff with awesome recommendations, clean and in a great location. Would definitely recommend! Only real negative was that the room was constantly too hot with no way to adjust heater or turn on air conditioning. Had to have the window open the whole time to keep temperature down and was still way too hot. Microwaves to reheat food would also be a great addition.
Housekeeping, doormen, and one front desk clerk were very nice. Bedbugs and other staff debating it with me.
Toilet flush was EXTREMELY loud. And we could hear the toilets from other rooms as well.
Spacious, very well equiped suites with fridges, microwaves and two TV's - very handy when the World Cup clashes with Wimbledon. All furnishings and fabrics in rooms are of the highest quality. Almost all the staff were very friendly, extremely polite and most helpful. Great location for the Chicago tourist. Swimming Pool needs a refurb, now looking dated and tired. Air-con in gym and workout rooms not working therefore uncomfortably hot. Internet connections in Rooms too slow and no weekly rate for using the facility.
Charles Nancy was very rude and put out by helping me. Also, our keys did not work twice and the cost of the room service is quite ridiculous....$7.00 for dry cereal, plus 18% gratuity pluse $2.50 delivery?! Maybe if the staff was friendly and the service was better, but no way would I ever pay that for a bowl of corn flakes.
We arrived and there was no parking available and the hot water didn't seem to get any warmer than room temperature.
The facilities are good. The location is excellent. The parking is outrageous. $66/day but I think that's Chicago. One of the hotel staff was a bit rude, but the others more than made up for his behavior.
Very nice Hotel with a great staff. Valet service was good, bell service was good, front desk service was great. Restuarant was average, parking was expensive.
Centrally located and friendly staff. Great size room and amenities for the price. Housekeeping could have been better. Room not cleaned until 5 pm and cleaning was substandard. Wet towels left in room and dirty coffee cups. Beds too hard. Also, teenage kids were given a handicap accessible room. We were not told about this until we saw the room. Didn't need to take up that kind of room, but after they had already unpacked, didn't want to change rooms.
When I had a problem with the professionality of one of the staff members, the General Manager took action fast and worked a satisfying solution to the problem. The only thing I didn't care for about this Hotel is that it did not offer a shuttle to the airport or my convention.

Stayed here Dec 12-14, 2014, this was our 2nd time staying here due to close proximity to Navy Pier's Winter Wonderland. Last year the Manager's reception offered better appetizers, seemed to be a bit cheaper this year. Staff is wonderful and room was really clean. We had an issue with the thermostat, it was almost 80 degrees the whole stay. The kids love it here, it's really family oriented. They seemed to like swimming in the pool better than Winter Wonderland, they made several little friends during our short stay. Will probably be back next year, we love it here.

Staff was very helpful and we were able to get a later checkout upon our departure, which was nice and allowed to kids to swim for a bit before we left. Check in and out was easy, and parking was easily accessible. The price on the all inclusive Disney kids on Demand TV package I order did not reflect what was charged to my bill. It was only a difference of $2.99 and ultimately not a big deal, but still, I feel as though you should be paying what you are quoted. Also, being that it was a holiday weekend, it would have been nice if breakfast was open until 10 as it is on the weekends, but I get the weekend vs. weekend schedule. The lines were a bit long by the end of breakfast and early breakfast is always hard to do with my kids. But again, not a huge deal in the whole scheme of things. We will definitely be back.

Atmosphere is always good and location you can't beat. Valet service is average. Kind of slow and impersonal. I should expect better from such an establishment. Either that or it should be included with my room.
The location is epic; the Gold Coast of Chicago is high end district, places to shop are so close you can walk everywhere. Wonderful restaurants! I would stay here again, and again. The staff were like friends we had missed seeing in ages and always ready to help, in every way from the check in to the cleaning service helping us carry our bags into our room. Our room was a lower rate and as such we were placed near the elevators. We had booked WAY in advance but was told upon check in it was a busy weekend, but we could check in at 12:30 ish... The room we had was small but I am not sure all of them are...?
Location great, nice staff eager to please. Breakfast buffet was cold food only, but good. Rooms were small and clean. Overpriced, elevators were erratic. Power breakfast was fine, but they kept changing the hours. Had to have Food and Bev manager intervene to get breakfast. Did not have enough newspapers on three of the four days I stayed there. Coffee was $9. Mixed drinks were $15. Our group was 50 rooms. Many complaints. Few amenities for the price. No radios in room. Only one electrical plug in room behind chair.

The library bar and pump room bar were fabulous. Food and cocktails amazing. Great energy throughout the hotel. Fabulous location near both Lincoln Park and the Lake. Very welcoming to solo business/leisure visitors. Great place to work at during the day. The rooms were okay. A little run down (stains on the floor, chipped furniture). I received a good deal on the cost of my room, but wouldn't pay the full price for one of their rooms. But you may really be paying for the location and great food/bar scene.
The only staff I ever saw was at the Check-In Desk. Waited an hour to have an iron delivered to the room. Waited over an hour for car to be dispatched from valet. There was no "welcome to our hotel" from anyone, it was essentially "you're on your own here".

It's a very unique hotel where are you and features and close to everything downtown I was very unhappy when they gave my credit card information to a third party
Swanky, under-stated elegance and unique. Greeted the moment we arrived. Great vibe. Nice scenic walk to North End of Michigan Ave (aka miracle mile) and restaurants. Parking in the area is expensive!!...Valet is the only option.
Went up to Chicago to catch a craft beer festival. The hotel was very accommodating, helping us take our many, many, manyou cases of beer and two tiny bags of luggage to our room. With the convenience of in and out parking and even providing plates when our pizza was delivered made our short stay amazing. Would definitely stay here again City garage parking is sooooooooo expensive!

Nice outdoor pool. No free internet in the room. Noise from repairs (drilling) in neighboring room(s) every morning (weekdays).

We loved our stay at the doubletree, complimentary cookies and the front desk, the bed was lovely and the location is great, only few blocks from the magnificent mile. My husband woke up at night due to the outside street noise (cars&sirens) I personally did not hear it. I guess it depends how light of a sleeper someone is.
Seems there were some residents on my floor - sounded like families that did not have a home. They were noisy, loud, baby crying and unattended, See above.

Great, attentive staff. Terrific location by the river. Comfortable bed. Lobby Door staff was extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Expensive for what you get. Room a/c is on energy saving computer load management, so it can take ten minutes to respond. River view 7th floor deluxe king Room had one uncomfortable arm chair, and a tiny sliver of a window that allowed one to see the bridge over the river, but, no water or boats. Exercise room was a joke, just A universal and dumbells. Free morning coffee a plus, but offset with tiny cups and mediocre coffee blend. Free evening wine was nice, but unlike far less expensive embassy suites, no snacks offered.
This is a very nice and comfortable hotel. Rooms are nicely decorated and the bed was excellent. Also free WiFi. I will definitely book this hotel again on one of my business trips to Chicago.
Location was central to everything and the staff was very helpful. Toilet paper was really poor quality. Minor problem with the bill that was quickly settled.
We enjoyed the wine reception and the taste breakfast in the adjecent restaurant. The hotel is located right in the heart of Chicago and pleasantlly quiet. The hotel does not provide slipers.
Everything..great fluffy pancakes at breakfast I love this hotel.For some reason when I checked in they thought I had requested an adjoining room (I did not)and did not have me scheduled for a room with 2 beds that I had reserved. However they did some juggling and gave me the type of room I had requested.
Stylish, friendly staff, good location. Lovely L'Occetaine toiletries, but putting bath products (those bath "bombs") for sale in the bathroom is tacky. Either offer them as an amenity or don't put them out at all. Same with the "animal" socks. Hotel rooms aren't department stores. Coffee in the lobby was excellent. It would be nice if you could add a small selection of rolls or muffins to complement the coffee. And it would be great if the coffee service was offered until noon or even later. Asked for and received a quiet room. However, the trade off was a room overlooking a service roof/steakhouse sign, with no view of the beautiful city of Chicago. I would imagine a quiet room can be had without sacrificing a city view. Don't double glazed windows block out noise? The room was dark because of the lack of natural light and somewhat depressing. Prior to my visit I joined the Kimpton club, but the front desk had no record of my membership. Membership is supposed to offer a number of benefits, including preferred newspaper delivered to the room, but I only received the requested ny Times one day out of the three I stayed at the hotel. Pad and pen (I took them with me when I went out) were not replaced during my stay
Very comfortable, nice different decoration, excellent service, personnel, complimentary wine between 5-6pm. Few blocks from Billy Eliot's musical (must see!). Great restaurant close by, Catch 35! Nice walk to Mgnif. Mile. Allow 1 hour to airport due to traffic. nothing

Very friendly and helpful staff. Large and comfy rooms. Beautifully designed entry way. Wine hour at 5pm was great. Close to shopping, restaurants and museums. Ended up with a room that had absolutely no view. Room cleaning could have been better, but nothing gross. Those two things made the $190 plus tax per night room a little too expensive.

Great location to everything in the city! You can walk to the Riverwalk which has so many things to do! very clean hotel and staff is so so accommodating and welcoming! The bed was very uncomfortable! Had a huge dip in the middle of the mattress! Other than that no complaints
Rooms were big and spacious, on state street and walking distance to Michigan Avenue and very popular for their restaurants. Housekeeping were take time to clean the rooms, I would go out from morning and come back and the room was still not cleaned.

The room was clean and interesting and the hotel well situated in the heart of things. Concierges were particularly accomodating. The rooftop lounge- to which guests get priority access seemed 'the' place to be at night The business centre ( internet access and printers) was painfully frigid and the computers not user friendly.
The wit hotel is definitely a great spot. My husband and I went on a very cold winter day. It was nice they have the club/bar on 27th this way we didn't have to leave the hotel. We would stay ther again.

The fridge didn't work so the brought up a dented scratched fridge and set it in the middle of the room. The room was not clean. No hospitality. Way over priced!!!!

Location was perfect, especially if you want to see a game at US Cellular or Wrigley as the red line is very close. Easy walk to the river as well and there are many great restaurants in the area. Slow elevators

Location is also really convenient. Overall, great stay! Not much I can think of that I didn't like. I guess it would have been nice to have a coffee maker already in the room. I think you can request one and they bring one -- but it was there already. Coffee was available in the lobby, which was so-so.
Loved the service and location! We enjoyed the pool and rooftop patio; very relaxing. Everything was very clean and inviting. It would be nice to have the coffee maker in the room instead of having to go to the lobby. We did not realize we could request one, as there is no written information book in the room except for a menu. I prefer a book rather than find out the information on TV channel.
I have stayed at the Palomar many times. I like the location and have always like the rooms in the past. I like the bar and the restaurant. Rooms are comfortable. This stay I was not given a king as requested but a queen room. I was staying for 5 days and was very disappointed as the room had less space to relax. The room was also in the corner between buildings and it got very little outside light. I can only conclude that the reason I was not given the room I requested and got such a poor room is because I made my reservation through Kayak. They also did not give me any reward points because I booked through Kayak. I was disappointed in the staff responses when I asked for a different room.
The awesome service was exemplified in the perpetual pleasant, smiling faces each day. The professionalism exudes excellent leadership and training when the staff consistently goes above and beyond the expected. Cudo's to Antwon, the bellman, that went out of his way to specifically show me directions. I also appreciate how Sarah, the housekeeping manager, found my ipad mini and had it shipped to my house. The high corner room was perfect to wind down at the end of the day!

We enjoy the great value for the cost with a suite that had plenty of room. The bedding and comfort of the bed was great for the price, but does not compare to higher cost/higher end hotels. The service is excellent with cordial attendants across the board.
We chose the Thompson Hotel for its location and value on Kayak. If I was traveling alone on business it would have been a better choice. They are super accomaditing allowing us to check in at 11:00 am without any problems. They also have a great online precheck in service. There is a Starbucks next door and good restaurants all around it. The precheck in service is a great idea however, it is as if you actually request something like an extra blanket or extra towels which were questions on the precheck in system they do not fulfill them. The elevator system requires you to use your room key to get up to your floor however, there is only one reader per elevator and it was virtually impossible to get to it when using the elevator. So many people were talking about riding the elevator up and down trying to get to their floors. The showers were never hot just warm regardless of the time of day. The A/C was all over the the place, hot / cold. The room refresh was seriously below average and actually just a really bad bed make up with fresh towels. They basically missed at the attempt to be a chic boutique hotel. There is no real identity to this property.
We had a great weekend staying at The Thompson! The location, staff and room were outstanding! We will definitely be staying here again!
The beautiful view of lake Michigan. Close proximity to great restaurants and shopping. Nico Osteria restaurant within the hotel was excellent. The room was beautifully decorated, very comfortable bed, reading light ( unexpected), and huge bathroom and shower. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. One of the late afternoons we needed to call for extra towels,since our room had not been cleaned,and we had been out all day. I do realize that this weekend was a home Bears foorball game and was very busy.
We go downtown every Christmas and this was the first time we stayed here. We loved it. Friendly staff, wonderful accommodation, and great location. We will certainly be back.
We loved everything about it. From the very beginning (checkin) till the very last second before we left the hotel. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The Concierge made arrangements for a boat trip on the Chicago River. Housekeeping kept our room in perfect shape. We had a room on the 21st floor which had the perfect view towards the chicago skyline. It was awesome. I gladly recommend to visit the Thompson Chicago and will for sure also book on other occasions other Thompson hotels. Thank you for this very wonderful and perfect vacation, Thompson. nothing!

comfy bed, great location, nice lobby. Front desk lady was not very helpful. Toilet smelled like sewage. They called me from front desk to tell me someone was at my door from hotel personnel when I had privacy sign on...that woke me up...What kind of "privacy on" is this?

Nice Interior Design. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. This is a much better location than other hotels I have stayed at further south. We took a very nice walk north to Lincoln Park. It is a beautiful neighborhood and does not even feel like you are in the city. Too pricey for me to use other than business. I did not need or use "facilities" so that is the only reason I did not give that an "excellent" score. We were not impressed with the breakfast food. We were very pleased with our lunch at Gibson's across the street.

The Thompson Hotel Staff were amazing, very friendly and accommodating. We were upgraded to a corner king suite as it was our wedding night so that was a pleasant surprise as well. Overall wonderful experience. Would definitely go back. Nothing!

Hotel location was excellent close to shopping at Magnificent Mile and with several good restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Concierge was not on top form but everyone can have an off time so not a problem and all other staff extremely helpful
The hotel was clean and very nice. All staff I encountered were very nice. The best part in my book was the location. It was right on the river (although because of a brick wall that creates a little courtyard outside the lobby/restaurant you can't see the river from the main floor entrance way, but you could see it from above and below this location). It was comfortable. It smelled nice (they push their "signature scent" out in the lobby which is fresh and pleasant). There are MANY restaurants within walking distance, including one of my favorites, Frontera (upscale Mexican). There's also a restaurant right outside the lower level doors (take the two escalators down) that's right on the river. You're within walking distance of Michigan Avenue (if you like to walk) or you could always take a cab to that area if walking too much isn't appealing. The location really can't be beat. Really the only thing I didn't like was how very DARK it was in the lobby of this hotel. They need to add some attractive lighting (chandeliers, lamps) so it feels more cheerful. I understand that this used to be a Niko Hotel and was done in the Japanese style (which is still evident). If they're not going to add lighting, then adding some fountains for pleasant ambient noise would be good. I would also suggest that they add more "windows" in their brick wall in the courtyard outside the lobby/restaurant. I know there's a sidewalk out there that they likely wanted to "protect" the hotel from, but their present set-up misses the view of the river and downtown.

The chase lounge chair next to the window. I enjoyed the view of the city and the river. I liked watching the tour boats coming and going. The bed was comfortable, the shower was nice and the room was quiet. I felt that the staff were courteous and helpful. Nothing that I can think of.

The city is amazing and being able to come back to a great place to rest makes a big difference between a good trip and an awesome trip. The staff was incredibly polite, and the customer service at this place is above and beyond.

The rooftop bar is amazing...during the winter, however, the lounge is enclosed and not much to talk about. Our room had a gorgeous view of the river, the bed was comfortable, linens were great, and the big tv was like being in bed at a movie theatre. The workout facility was very cool, like a trip to the future. Great stay, we would do it again for sure.
My son and I had a great stay at London House! It is located perfectly and is within walking distance or a short Uber ride of Navy Pier, Millenium Park, OTC. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and staff was friendly! We tried to eat at the hotel restaurant to avoid going out in a storm. The restaurant is more of a bar setting and the menu is not family friendly. Needless to say we braved the storm, got soaked! Great memory! Lots of good places to eat around the hotel.
The geographic location was the best !! A little no frills.
It has a great location for downtown shopping and dinning Despite the fact I paid extra for the larger more luxurious room it was very small and came with no perks such as included parking. Parking was twice as much as the near by overnight lots in the area. The towels, sheets ect were very stiff and ruff with no robes in room. The staff seemed clueless on several amenities the hotel offered including an app for the tv that allowed you to order movies and control settings the same as a remote and thank goodness because the actual remote in the room did not work. Also there were added charges to the bill that had to be disputed at checkout all were resolved but it added frustration onto an already Less than pleasant experience. We will not be staying there again.
It was very pleasant get there early and having a room to do an early check in. The staff was excellent. Overall it was a good hotel. The location of it was very impressive, close to every place, Willis Tower, Millennium Park, and Navy Pier. I think it's a little pricey, but given the location I think it's worth it.

I usually love the Hard Rock with its funky style and fun atmosphere, but this time the room was small and awkward poor lighting and not well appointed. I am used to the minimalist approach but this wasn't even a fun or modern feel - seemed just more drab. The staff was great just the rooms seem so much more run down and drab than the other hotel we used during our Chicago trip.
We were on the 23rd floor right next to the stairwell, and I have no idea where the noise came from, but all day and all night there was a loud knocking/banging noise, followed by a revving noise that would come from a machine, that continued nonstop. We were not near the elevators, so we ruled that out. It was impossible to sleep, even with the tv on and my white noise sleep app. Ridiculous. I don't know if the rooms booked on kayak are the crappy, noisy rooms because of the good price, but I will not be staying at the Hard Rock again.

Very convenient location right on Michigan Ave. You won't run out of places to eat or stores to shop. I'm a music enthusiast and the memorabilia on the walls is a nice touch. Also a guitarist and the ability to have your own guitar brought to your room to play was pretty sweet. A Jamaican style bar club along with a nice steak/bar restaurant are in it (Although a little pricey) Been to many hotels due to my line of work. Although the ambience is nice Its not much more then anything you'd find at a Holiday Inn or Hampton. Seems a bit on the older side. Don't know about the more expensive rooms. But ours did not come with a fridge or microwave ( you can purchase them)
Location was good Rooms were small, holes in the walls and dinged mirrors. Humid rooms and beds were not the softest.
Location, bedding, room decor. Wasn't notified of renovations by kayak nor Marriott, when I told the front desk this, I was told I should do my own research to make sure hotel isn't being renovated. Then the workers started a half hour earlier than I was told on Sunday morning, and when I called the front desk, nothing was done about it. They were constantly drilling directly above our room. I was given the wrong room and wasn't offered a switch when the correct room became available, and I left an item there after checking out and called two hours later and the item had gone missing from the room. When I called the customer care line, the hotel called back to apologize and did not offer anything to rectify the situation. Terrible stay, will not be booking there ever again.
Great staff, good location. Restaurant is wonderful. Small room, older hotel/rooms, bed not so comfortable, no in room eats other than water/coffee. Definitely over priced.
Elevators require key each time to go up stairs
We stayed here with our two older children (age 16 & 20) over July 4 weekend; an incredibly busy weekend for the city but this was an oasis of luxury. Recently renovated, hotel features a beautiful artistic lobby, excellent coffee/sandwich bar in lobby, lounging areas with couches, restaurant, bar. Rooms are deluxe, very comfortable beds, modern bathrooms, with gorgeous views of the city and nearby Chicago river.
Great location, nice room, beautiful bathroom, comfortable beds, steps from the orange line, State St. and Michigan Ave., Theatres, and museums. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Great rice view. Libby music was a bit loud, but the younger crow probably would think that was great!
ALL staff that we incountered from valet to bellman house keeping and front desk were all very friendly and helpful. Having worked in the hotel industry it was easy to spot a top notch beautiful hotel with an amazing staff. Toilet was loose or unattached to the bathroom floor but still functioned properly.
