Amazing location, clean rooms, appears newly refurbished. The lobby/ checkin area was just... A little weird. The singular front desk agent was overworked and harried, and the open-area of the lobby is just small enough that everyone seems to be staring at each other, but just large enough to bring enough bodies in to make it feel really odd. But get past check-in and the hotel was great.
We were upgraded to a business sweet from a standard queen room for free and without even asking. The room was very clean, simple and classy with a large bathroom. The breakfast room was also large and there was a great selection of foods. The hotel staff is very helpful, kind and attentive. Check out is at noon but you can check your luggage at the hotel if you have more sight seeing to do!! You can also leave your car with valet and won't be charged another night or hourly rates till 3pm. On our last day of a great trip we needed to check out by noon but we're planning on doing a little more touring so we thought we had to put our luggage in our car after checking out. We asked the valet where the car was parked so they wouldn't have to bring it around for us to merely put our luggage in it. We followed his directions (parking garage around the corner, top floor) and ended up climbing 8 flights of stairs with our luggage to the top of the garage as we hadn't found and elevator. Upon reaching the top we were greeted by a locked door. We started making out way back down through the garage itself to look for our car and couldn't find it so we headed back to the hotel where we got lectured by the valet attendant because apparently we could have checked out luggage at the hotel after checking out. Very upset that we put in all that effort just to be scolded by the valet attendant for whom we were trying to do a favor.
Quaint and cozy. Old but adequate. Friendly, competent staff. Elevator old and clunky.
Handy parking in the structure nearby, good location in Lincoln Park. Lobby, workout facilities and breakfast were great. Cramped room and bathroom. Surprised to see ear plugs with the toiletries, but another reviewer did say that the walls are paper thin. I didn't notice any noise and didn't need to use them.
Excellent location, clean rooms, friendly competent staff, and a large accommodating room for the generous free breakfast. It's all good.
Vibrant neighborhood. Great restarants. Convienant to many attractions.
Everything was gre Nothing
Breakfast was good and quick. Workout room was top notch equipment.
Decent breakfast. Nice room. Good HVAC. Good bathroom. Great location. Nice staff. Hallways can be noisy sometimes.
Able to check in early, room was upgraded, excellent breakfast, ticket printing, friendly staff Everything was great
The room my friend and I got was a business room with 2 queen beds that was very spacious. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was pretty nice. Overall great value. Nothing really to complain about except maybe the noise outside, although some bacon or sausage at breakfast would have been nice.
Size of beds, room, and bathrooms were great (we booked a 2 Queen room). Room was very quiet and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of space for our young children to run and play a bit before bed. The location is also great with plenty of restaurants in easy walking distance. Thanks to the attentive staff at check-in, I also managed to snag the last free street parking spot immediately in front of the hotel. Age/quality of bathroom wasn't great, the little electric heater in the wall wasn't enough to make up for the cold air leaking in around the window-mounted air conditioner, and the breakfast wasn't that impressive (cereal, bagels, yogurt, and microwave sandwiches).
Bathroom was too small. The door hits the toilet, would have liked to have a comfortable. Chair or couch. Shower just trickles. The toilet clogged. Twice. Staff was great and took Carr of the clogs immediately
The atmosphere was nice. the architecture looks old but it makes you feel cozy. The rooms are nice. It's very clean. During check in I was asked for a deposit of $60 which I was not informed of prior to my visit. There was no infomation on it. I did not have much money so I was left asking family to transfer money into my account. I'm only 19 and was in town for a special event. My room was paid for by family not me. So I was embarrassed and worried that I would be steamed without a room. I would suggest that you inform your guests that even after they pay for the room they need to put down $60 as well.
Location was great...Close to Lincoln Park, restaurants, conveniences. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Rooms are dated and small. Although the building has great character, the accommodations are in need of updating.
Friendly attentive staff during the day. Large rooms. Great neighborhood close to public transport.
The staff is always so friendly and helpful. Paul was so polite and upgraded my room so my daughter, with whom I was visiting, could stay with me and we could each have our own beds. My room had a hint of cigarette smoke when we first arrived. I had to spray it. The sign clearly stated NO SMOKING.
Good value for the money. In a great area, Staff was excellent.
Location was good, and it was nice to have the option for parking in the ramp around the corner. The staff was friendly enough but not very helpful with the issues with our radiator. The price seemed reasonable, although less so when we saw how small the room was, how noisy the radiators were, and how thin the walls were. Heat is provided by old-timey radiators which clank and are hard to control. The front desk wasn't very helpful when we couldn't get one closed (we were roasting)- they just said, "turn the knob" (duh). Thanks to paper-thin walls, we got to hear all the noise from the hallway, plus the couple upstairs, um, coupling on a squeaky bed. The breakfast was disappointing.
Front desk very helpful. Room spacious. Beds very comfortable. Hallway dingy. Room furniture sparing and dingy. Room doesn't have a closed off closet. Carpet and walls could be brighter.
The price was very good for Chicago in the summer. Its a perfect location if you're coming for a Cubs game!
The place is in an old building, which is cool, but also has its drawbacks. I liked the feel of the place generally. It's definitely not posh, and you won't break the bank to stay here. The bathroom was pretty lousy. Low shower head, toilet was on a tilt, and the room itself needs updating.
The radiator was SUPER noisy, and we were unable to control the temperature so it was not a good night of sleep. We were told it was being addressed the day we checked out, so we'd be willing to try them again. Cute place.
Mattress was comfortable Elevator was not good.
Location good Hotel bad Our room was literally in the stairwell, old, holes in wall, wall paper falling down, worse than a European hostel
Dirty bathroom Rude clerk Told me online booking company's lied about parking and amenities
Family friendly hotel that's close to everything. Staff were really helpful and friendly.
The bed was very comfortable; sheets and towels were clean. Coffee maker worked; room includes a flat screen TV, which I did not confirm was working, but it was there. This is NOT a "first tier" property, and I'm certain they know that. However, if you need a hotel near a meeting in this area, there are few options; this was the best I could find. Building is very old, but well-maintained. Room was extremely small - barely enough room to move around the bed (I thought I was in an old-fashioned 3rd tier NYC hotel in the 1970s). Bathroom was ancient; water pressure was virtually just a "dribble" from the spigot in the tub; no hair dryer was provided. An average Hampton Inn is luxurious by comparison.
My wife and I stayed two nights, and when we got back we had bites all over us. Called the hotel twice and they kept saying they'd get back to us and never did. Now I'm praying we haven't brought the bedbugs back to our apartment. Do not stay here!!!
Great location, nice staff reasonable price. Not the best heating system in the world, but other than that everything was fine and enjoyable for an economy hotel.
Loved the double closets and double bathrooms!!!! Beds were a little close together, but manageable. Quite a quaint place! Paying for parking!
Very nice area! There are a lot of restaurants and bars near by. The staff is very friendly. Very good hotel for short-term stays. But the rooms are so tiny .. Small room, view from the window to the parking
Our stay was great rooms very clean location super easy check-in friendly staff. E- mail confirmations were great. Will definetly come again.
The rooms were not clean
