About Little Goat

Stephanie Izard, James Beard "Best Chef: Great Lakes," and Food & Wine "Best New Chef 2011," opened Little Goat with BOKA Restaurant Group in December 2012. Following the success of Girl & the Goat, Little Goat Diner serves the Izard take on classic diner offerings.

Adjacent, you'll find the Little Goat Coffee Bar - offering pastries and freshly brewed Dark Matter coffee. While you are there you can also purchase merchandise and Stephanie's This Little Goat line of sauces and spices.

Located within Little Goat Bread is our bar - where craft beer, wine and cocktails are served.

Reservations reflect only a portion of our available seating and hold a seat in the diner whether at a booth or our communal table. If you can't find a time slot that best suits your request, we invite you to walk in and join us!

The food was delicious. Definitely make a reservation because it was super busy when we went for Saturday breakfast. They make their bread in house and the biscuits are warm and yummy. Make sure you come with an empty stomach because the side of hash browns is massive. Great local coffee and great atmosphere! Definitely worth it!

Love, love, love the Little Goat. It's a must stop whenever I get to Chicago, especially for pre-theater meals. The food is always wonderful and inventive and the service excellent. This was the third time I introduced the restaurant to friends and the third time the new diners fell in love with my choice. Because this was a slightly bigger than usual group, we had a minor glitch with the reservations, but all was forgiven once we get there.

Way too loud. Had to lean over table to hear the person I was with. Food was good but 3 out of 5 people received their food 5 minutes before the other 2 people. Have been here before and it was not like this visit but the noise has always been an issue. Food is good.

I loved the food at Little Goat. Everything I tried was excellent. I only have two negatives. One was the fact that I had a reservation but we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. The second one was someone in my party got food posioning which always is unfortunate.

I made a reservation about a week in advance for a party of 6. We arrived a bit early and were able to hang out at the bar until our booth was ready (early!). The food came quickly and did not disappoint. The burger special was a hit, and the side of fries was enough for 3+ to share. There are very few remotely healthy options, but Little Goat is worth the splurge.

Group of 8 of us came here for a reunion dinner. They placed us in a booth, which was a bit tight for all of us but was actually better for conversation since the place was pretty loud on a Friday night. Being shoulder to shoulder we could probably hear each other better than if we were on the open floor at a table. Our server was friendly, informative and relaxed. Our drinks came right when we were starting to get thirsty and he came back at just the right times for another drink order and food. The pacing of the evening was really great, actually. All the food came out at the same time, which is tricky for a lot of restaurants to do 'right' with a lot of people. I was very impressed. The menu is so great at Little Goat. Burgers, breakfast all day, other diner favorites and creative spins on Asian food. Something for everyone! Looking forward to going back.

Good but not great. Probably better for brunch (we went for dinner), even though they serve breakfast all day. I had a special (sea bass) that was delicious, but small in proportion. The bread of the day was really good. We also had the pork belly pancake (good) and the tonkatsu sandwich (huge in proportion and tasty). The pork belly home fries were interesting, but we couldn't eat many of them - too vinegary.

The check-in was a bit disorganized and it took 30+ minutes for us to get seated even though we had a reservation. The front desk staff seemed frantic and uncertain of how to get everyone seated. Once we were seated our waitress was really attentive at first but then just disappeared. Our food arrived fairly quickly and was delicious though a bit rich. However, we never saw our server again until we were ready to order dessert. Its unfortunate since we were there celebrating a birthday and I would have loved a second cocktail. The restaurant was busy so its possible she was just distracted by other tables. Overall a great foodie destination as long as you are willing to deal with the long wait and ok service by the staff.

Delicious, as always. We had a reservation for 10 (4 adults and 6 children under the age of 4). The people at the restaurant are so welcoming to families and the restaurant is loud enough (but not too loud) so that our kids don't bother the people next to us. Food was fantastic. We finally ordered the cinnamon roll for the table and it was outstanding. Definitely enough to share. I tried something new this time which was the Bi Bim Bop (?) bowl. It was a great savory compliment to the cinnamon roll and the pancakes my kids ordered. I definitely recommend for an early brunch with kids - especially since you can make reservations.

The service was extremely slow and because of how loud the restaurant is the waitresses had to yell everything and we had to continually repeat ourselves. Our water glasses were not refilled and our plates we never cleared. We skipped dessert because we knew we may never see the waitress again. The food was amazing, I got the Chop Chae burger with a veggie patty and was in heaven when I first took a bite. The veggie patty wasn't pretending to be meat and it was almost fluffy like a large potato pancake, I have dreams about that patty. I will say the restaurant was crowded and with the noise levels plus children running around it would not make for a great first date spot. But, if you and your partner are looking for a place to break from your normal date routine the food is amazing and the people watching is great. Plus, they have a great drink menu.

Everything was fine at this restaurant BUT there was one thing that bothered me. There is a window where you can watch the cooks cooking and 1 of the guys was texting on his phone while waiting to prepare food. His phone was laid out on the food preparation area. Now I will admit that I did not see him touch any food with his bare hands. He used utensils when putting the food on the plate. Even still, this is unacceptable and nasty.

Nachos were very good as were the cocktails. Everything else was extremely average. And everything you read about the service, well, it is true. Maybe the least enthusiastic service I have seen in years. Not sure why anyone would hit up this spot when there are so many better and more interesting locations along Randolph.

I took my 13 year old son to Little Goat after the Bulls game. We were 20 min late(!) but they held the table for us (despite the crowd). The food was excellent! Comforting favorites (e.g., chicken pot pie) prepared in an exciting and delicious way! My son LOVED it and so did I. I had an item off the all-day breakfast menu (not your standard fare) described as 'Osaka street food' (I can't remember the complicated name but on the menu it indicates it is 'pronounced 'YUM'') and it was yummy! We topped it off with, again, not your standard, devil's food cake. (And NOT the oh-so-overdone-molten variety you see everywhere - this was wonderful). We'll be back!

The restaurant has great takes on comfort food. Instead of a conventional sloppy joe, the restaurant offers a sloppy goat, which is deliciously rich and savory. It's provides me with so much 'comfort' that I want to go home and sleep afterwards. Love that sandwich. Breakfast pancakes are my favorite. The sourdough cakes soak-up syrup and are very filling. \n\nService is timely, the space is pleasant and I love the feeling of tucking into one of those big booths.

I went there with a friend for a late lunch, the main dishes were just OK, nothing special. The Burrito w/mole wasn't very tasty and the tortilla was breaking apart in my hand, the chopped cilantro and tomato were put on top of the tortilla and most of it fell off on the plate and on the table. My friend had the Pork cutlet on white bread which was also just OK, a bit dry. The sauces weren't put on the sandwich we had to get the sauces on the side and we spread it on ourselves. I think the white bread would have been better if it was grilled. \nWe had Garlic mashed potatoes and Mac and Cheese which were very good. I wouldn't go there for these 2 main dishes we had but the sides were very good.

I don't get to Chicago very often so I had never heard of Girl and a Goat or any of the other related restaurants. So there we were at a diner. The difference between this diner and most other diners, was this diner packed to the brim with diners. After a wait, we had our lunch. It was a delicious, memorable lunch. It was memorable enough that the next time we came in for a show we headed straight for Little Goat. On our first visit to Chicago this was one place on our list to visit, boy it didn't disappoint. We decided to go for breakfast and it was a delight. Dined Apr 29 2018

The worst dining experiences are the ones where, when you get up to leave, you feel like you've been completely taken advantage of by the restaurant. That's how I felt walking out of this place. No server for 10 minutes after we sat down. No drinks for over 20 minutes. I ordered a vodka martini up. What I got was a tiny glass half filled with cool vodka and three massive olives. When I removed the olives I then had 1/3 of a 'drink.' Bad start. Food was marginal - a lot of it fried - and expensive for what you got. All this for over $100. \n\nThis place tries so hard to be cool, with the diner theme, goofy menu art, and eye-roll inducing names for some of the dishes. It's not cool, or good; it's a poor to mediocre restaurant in a city filled with great ones that's patronized and enabled by suckers like me.

Food was different and unique, and the layout of the restaurant was better than Girl & the Goat because it was less crowded. They even have a hook at the end of each table to hang your coats! Service was fair. We were there for 1 hour, and nobody came by to ask how everything was. They were not busy and our water cup was empty, but nobody came by to refill the water until we asked. They also didn't refill other tables' water cups which I thought was the minimum they could do.

We got up early Sunday to make sure we could get a spot at this popular diner. Everyone agreed it was worth it. My blueberry pancakes were perfect --- hot from the grill, wonderful texture with slightly crisp buttery edges and the most generous amount of large, plump blueberries mixed in! We all shared our dishes - a delicious smoked corned beef hash, yummy salmon bruschetta, and the famous ooey-gooey cinnabun --with each other because of the generous, share-able portions. By 8 am, the place was maybe two-thirds full --- there were a lot of blissful looking families with young kids eating whatever they pleased from a great menu --- e.g. dad having cocktail with burger and fries while toddler was eating eggs and maybe some of dad's fries. Wait staff was attentive (and hip). \n\nThe bakery attached to the diner is a definite bonus. We picked soudough and multigrain baguettes, although there were other pastries that tempted. The diner menu inspired us to make our own bruschettas with the baguettes for supper.\n\nNo problems with parking early Sunday AM, but biking may be a great way to avoid potential parking problems and may help mitigate the consequences of indulging one's self at this hot spot. We will be back!

Had very high expectations going to the Little Goat, and planned to go before we got on the plane to Chicago. Yes, it is good and worth going to, but it is not worthy of the incredibly high rating on Open Table or other sites. \n\nWe started with the Fried Pickles & Onion Rings. Batter was 'okay', and the sauce was really not great. I would not recommend this dish.\n\nI had the Goat Burger, recommended by the server (who was very friendly) and my wife had the Fried Chicken. She loved it. I had her coleslaw, and was underwhelmed. My burger was good, but a bit salty and did not live to the hype the server sold it as.\n\nThere are a lot of options available for all types of picky eaters - including all day breakfast which is a plus. Next time I'll go with the breakfast options over the Goat Burger!

What a diner! Wonderfully different food that pays tribute to a diner but is not diner food. Drinks were cocktails and beer in particular the Three Floyds Zombie Dust Pale Ale on draft\n\nYou might find ribs at a diner but the goat ribs were to die for, topped with a bed of local farm fresh greens which included little white flowers. \n\nAmbiance is diner like and so it is not a fancy place but a simple place in decor. It was NOT a greasy spoon, however, very clean as far as that goes.\n\nThe dessert was recommended by the waiter who was excellent and took the time for little details such as to refold the linen napkins when my wife was in the powder room. We were skeptical about the dessert because none of us are find if banana bread, but the banana peanut butter cake was fabulous. Like the goat ribs and the zombie dust he did not steer us wrong!\n\nWe cold not get into the Girl and the Goat by the Little Goat exceeded our expectations and we loved it

While the food isn't bad, their à la carte menu is all over the spectrum. If you're dining in a cafeteria, that's great, but at these price-points, far too 'pretentious', even for the neighborhood. Visualize standard diner fare kicked up about a quarter notch, add a 40% surcharge, and you'll get the picture. Nothing special, different, or unique that you wouldn't find at ANY Greek-24-hour-breakfast-anytime restaurant.

My 2nd time to Little Goat - and it was just as good. 4 of us went for a co-worker's birthday, and we started with Chili Fries & Fried Onions & Veggies (with a curry mayo dipping sauce - yum) - perfect for 4 people to share & rev up our appetites. I had the Ruben, and they were kind enough to make it with turkey for me. The other best was the Tonkatsu sandwich - breaded fried thin pork filet on really amazing white bread (not sure if they make it there, but someone makes it with love & care). They were very sweet & brought out a birthday treat for us to share, even though we were too full to order dessert. My only wish would be for the wines by the glass to be a tad larger - served in a juice glass, they're a tiny amount for the price. Our server was lovely & attentive.

All the food was overly salty. Corned beef hash had slices of deli corned beef like for a sandwich, not chunks like for a hash. In order to make up for it, she brought us the mexican chocolate cake. It wasn't very good. I have enjoyed this restaurant a lot in the past, this particular time was not a good experience.

Little Goat is one of my favorite recommendations to make for both locals and out-of-towners alike. Of the ten-plus times I've been to Little Goat, I have never tried something I didn't like. My personal go-to is the patty melt with the veggie burger instead of meat. I'm an ex-vegetarian and this is by far the best veggie patty I've ever had! The flavor is incredible and so fresh, and it's full of actual vegetables that you can see. I've recommended it to friends that I drag here and they fall in love, too! The blue plate special is also always worth a try--just have to trust the chef because she always knows what's she's doing. Last suggestion for an amazing dining experience here-the tempura mashed potatoes-I promise you've never had anything like them, and they're out of this world!

Food was delicious. Service was stunningly inattentive. Waitress was lovely -- when we saw her. Waited a ling time for menus and for the bill. It was rainy and chilly outside on the day we were there... and I was so cold inside that I had to keep my jacket on and put my sons jacket over my legs.\n\nFood was delish -- and despite the inattatentive atmosphere I would go back .

Went here on the recommendation from a Chicago local. First impression was that the restaurant is popular with the younger crowd, but as the evening progressed the age diversity improved. The cocktail menu was inventive, with jazzed-up classics and originals. I had a tequila-based original (name escapes me) that was sublime. I'd also call the menu 'goat-inspired inventive'. Many dishes utilized goat-based products (meat, milk/cheese). The chili was very good and the goat meat burger was excellent. My daughter has a grilled cheese that she loved. Overall, we really enjoyed this place.

Food was very heavy. Service was ok. Half the tables meals were ready while the rest of us sat and waited and kept being told they be up soon. By the time the rest of the table received their orders the first people to be served were more than half way through their entrees. The hostesses were not very friendly when we arrived. I'm glad I went to see what the fuss was all about but I can't think of any compelling reason to ever go back.

While I heard many things about Little Goat I kept thinking what can you really do with diner food? Boy have I been missing out! The sausage and mushroom biscuits and gravy was delicious and I was amazing that the mushrooms weren't overpowering at all. My favorite dish was the yogurt and granola with a cranberry compote I believe. I made everyone at the table taste the yogurt, it was just amazing! I'm still thinking about that yogurt! Others at the table really enjoyed their meals with one person (a chef) really loved the veal cheeks stroganoff. We also spotted Stephanie and her new little baby and they were adorable!

Little goat has a really interesting menu, with a lot of really great options.\nThe Not Chinese Broccoli and Mac a Cheese were great, and the Los Drowned sandwich was delicious.\nMy only criticism was that the burger we ordered came out very undercooked, with a lot of pink.\nThe waiter recognized it, and suggested offered to take it back.\nIt then came out again, udercooked. \nThe waiter seemed genuine when he said they were having an off night with the burgers.\n\nWhen we asked to have to burger taken off the bill, he told us they had already done so and brought us a complementary desert. I don't see it on the online menu, but it was the PB & PB & PB & J ice cream sundae, and it was one of the best deserts I've ever had.\n\nSo overall, while they had a slight hiccup, the waiter and majority of the food made up for it.\nIf I'm ever in Chicago again, I would go back. \nI recommend this play to anyone, and just make sure to ask that the burger is cooked.

The food at Little Goat is both innovative and comforting. The grilled cheese and apple tomato soup were a great complement to each other and while an old standby duo, the ingredients used were terrific. Our service was a bit slow given the level of occupancy, but our server was very pleasant and offered nice suggestions. My only hiccup service-wise was when making inquiries relative to food allergens. Our server did not know the ingredients of desserts and we had to ask twice for clarification on potential allergens. Beyond that glitch, a fun neighborhood gem.

I've been going to Little Goat for a long time now. It has been a go to for my friends and I. However, I feel as service has been lacking recently. I definitely do not recommend it for larger groups. I had some colleagues in from out of town and was looking forward to taking a group of 8 here for dinner. I had a reservation and we had to stand in the crowded bakery for 20-30 minutes. Additionally, they had called me in the afternoon and left a message asking if we would prefer a table or a booth. I called back indicating that we needed a table for such a large party. When we were finally seated they brought us to a booth. I asked if they really thought we could fit 8 people in the booth and they said yes. We were cramped! I was terribly disappointed and embarrassed by this. \n\nWe had a bit of a wait to place our orders, so they comped an appetizer. Some of the dishes were a bit saltier than usual. The wait staff was clearly a bit overwhelmed. With such a big group, this would have been a great opportunity to sell us drinks or dessert, but service was so slow that it was not worth the wait. Finally, it took forever to get the check and when we had our cards ready, we were literally standing in front of the table aisle waiting for someone to collect these, and no one came. One of us had to track someone down to ring this up. Again, as someone who usually loves this place and its creative dishes, the service was a huge disappointment this time.

We had a party of 6 for dinner at the Little Goat, and overall all of us were pretty unimpressed with the food. The chili was OK, as was the pulled pork sandwich, but all of the salads that were ordered were not good at all. Several of us had the Caesar salad and we couldn't figure out why they called it a Caesar! There was hardly any dressing on it, and the greens included items that I've never seen in a Caesar. The tempura anchovies on the top were OK, but it was a pretty boring, unexciting salad. The Taco salad was also boring and not very good. \n\nAnd, don't bother ordering the wine. They had one chardonnay, and one pinot noir, both of which were prety much undrinkable. We left more than half of each bottle they were so bad. \n\nIf we went back to the Little Goat, we would stick with more traditional diner fare -- breakfasts and burgers. I'd stay away from everything else! And, bring your own bottle and pay a corkage if you want wine! \n\nThe location was fine -- nice area. But the restaurant was VERY noisy. We had to yell to be heard across the table. \n\nWe really wanted to like the restaurant, but I just can't give it a good review.

We arrived at a very busy time for the restaurant but were seated immediately which was nice. Unfortunately half of the booth they seated us in was soaking wet. We pointed it out to the hostess who said - oh yeah, i had a towel over it before, but didn't bother to move us to a dry booth. Irritating. We had heard so much about Girl and the Goat and Little Goat that we were really looking forward to the meal. Our server was pleasant but acted rushed like she was in a huge hurry (maybe too many tables?), leaving in the middle of taking our order to run and do something else. The food was served like it was tapas - one dish, then a few minutes later two more, then another one about five minutes after that. It seemed really strange to us. All of the food came well-prepared but drenched in grease. Bacon was served on a dish in a literal puddle of grease; the gravy that came with biscuits & gravy had separated leaving a pool of grease in the dish; hash browns tasted oily and the patty melt oozed grease with every bite. This was disappointed to say the least. After we left we stopped someplace else and got fast food because we couldn't eat what we had gotten at Little Goat. I am assuming they were just having an off day but will not go back. Super disappointing.

We were very happy with the food at Little Goat, our only 'complaint ' would be directed towards a couple service issues. We were 30 minutes early for our reservation so gladly went to the bar to wait however were told to 'check back' with the hostess to see when a table would be ready. I think the hostess should have come for us in the bar when our table was ready. In the same vein the bartender would not transfer our bar tab to our table so when I returned to the hostess stand to wait in line to inquire if our table was ready I had to then return to the bar, get my wife, wait to pay my tab then return to the hostess stand , again wait in line and we're finally shown to our table. Once seated the service was excellent and efficient and the food was outstanding. In my opinion these two flaws could and should be addressed and corrected.

Take a look at the menu: if creative comfort food sounds exciting, then you'll love Little Goat. I've read some other reviews: it is loud, so if are looking for a place for a romantic meal or a special occasion, then this isn't the best choice. It's a boisterous, high energy place. Decor is bright and modern with a slight retro/mid-century vibe. Despite being packed, the hosts managed a constant stream of new parties with professional ease, and meal service was faster than the usual pace. I had the parathas burrito, which was PHENOMENAL. Great flavors in a delicious, satisfying dish. Prices were very reasonable for portions and quality.

Only downside is that the menu might not give a full description, so if you are a picky eater, grill your waiter about what is in the dish, and make sure they actually remove anything you ask them to.

Little Goat was pretty good! My BF an I wanted to head to a different neighborhood for a change and to have a quality dinner and you can't go wrong in the West Loop. Since neither of us had been to Little Goat, we thought we would give it a try. Definitely recommend a reservation if you can get one and if you can sit outside, I think that's better when the weather cooperates which it did for us! The inside was actually really noisy so the outside was much better plus you get to enjoy the sidewalk while its still nice out. For food, I would definitely recommend the goat chili cheese fries - amazing! Can't remember the other meals we had, but the it was all good. Wasn't impressed with the drink options but they're not my preferred kind to drink. Otherwise, it's a good choice and everyone should try one of the goat restaurants!

A very good place to eat. My wife and I had breakfast there. The cinnamon rolls were very good and the coffee was outstanding. I ordered the corned beef hash which was amazing. It had two eggs on top any way you like. I ordered them over medium which allowed the yolk to soak into the hash- absolutely delicious. My wife ordered the french toast. It was different in that the bread was not egged dipped but came with the egg on the inside. It was on brioche bread. Finally it had fried chicken and cut up strawberries. My wife really enjoyed it as well.

Little Goat is in a very crowded neighborhood. The restaurant, which looks like an old fashioned diner, is also quite crowded. The booths are comfortable though although it is hard to have a conversation. The food was very good and the portions are quite generous. It is very easy to order more than you can eat. Our service was very poor. We waited a very long time for our dinner. The waiter apologized and gave us a free glass of wine. That was nice, but I would have preferred to get our food in less than an hour.

The first impression of the restaurant was the extremely rude hostess. She chastised us for showing up 15 minutes early to our reservation even though we weren't asking to be seated, we just wanted to let her know we had arrived. Then she told us we would have to wait an additional 30-45 minutes if we didn't want the communal table when a couple was seated at a private booth immediately after us. Personally I'd rather go somewhere where everyone values my business.

There were 5 of us. This was an early dinner before heading home after seeing a play. \n4 of us split dinner entrees and apps. Scallops special was outstanding. Perfectly prepared and flavors were distinctive and fresh. We tried the crab dip with ritz crackers and the brussel sprouts. Neither disappointed. Crab dip was full of real crab with a little kick in flavor. Brussel sprouts were caramelized, sliced and a bit of bacon I think. One of us tried the tortilla soup - she said it was the best she'd ever had. \nAt the end we split a piece of cake. Two of us in the group don't normally do a lot of sweets and we couldn't stop eating it. It was their cake of the day made with Honey Graham cereal. The texture was perfect. And it was not sickeningly sweet like some frosting and cake can be. I'm still thinking about it.\nThere are many choices in the neighborhood and while I'm anxious to try others, I'm sure I'll be back to Little Goat. Can't wait to try it's big sister someday.

It has the fun diner ambience expected, but the food we received was not as described by the waiter. A soup described as slightly sweet came up spicy and couldn't be finished. A side dish, also did not come out as described, and was also extremely spicy. Even the french fries seemed overly seasoned. The vegetable quesadilla did, however, have great flavor, and I could tell quality ingredients were used. I expect quality ingredients were used in the other dishes, but they were covered up. This was my second visit to Little Goat and both times, I was amazed by the quality of the food, the inventive menu choices and the very friendly, efficient service. The morning, I enjoyed a Spanish omelette made with pastured fresh eggs, cheddar, pickled hot peppers and real masa chips. The whole thing was topped off with a smoky chunky tomato sauce. It was fantastic. I also couldn't resist ordering sourdough toast, since the diner makes their own breads in house. Again, outstanding. I appreciate that Little Goat and Girl and the Goat restaurants have a focus on seasonal, farm to table foods and that they use local suppliers. It makes such a difference in quality. When my friends asked her to recommend a dish, she recommended the most expensive dish in every category. I ordered the Fat club anyway and asked for no mayo but it came drenched in something - maybe not mayo but something similar. The chili cheese fries were just awful. Not sure if it was because the fries themselves were limp and soggy, or because they were drowning in cheese. \nVery disappointing experience from what is purported to be a 'hot' restaurant.

Underwhelming was the word my husband and I used to describe our Little Goat experience. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I thought the food was okay, nothing stood out as being exceptional. My husband kept thinking when everything is special, nothing is special, and by special he means there were tweaks to even the most basic dish. There weren't even plain fries. The Kimchee goat burger was nothing my husband hadn't had a dozen times. I was impressed by the actual full gluten free friendly menu, and excited when I was able to order a Reuben on gluten free bread. But I wasn't impressed with the Kimchee added to a regular Reuben. Both the corned beef and bread were dry. The smoked fries were nothing more than skinny French fries with smoked paprika sprinkled on them. The elote was spicy, but surprisingly lacking any other flavor and it was too spicy for my husband. My pork and toffee milk shake was lacking pork. I expected bacon flavor and I got nothing like it. In fact, my shake wasn't even that cold and it was very thin. My husband enjoyed his horchata shake, but didn't think it was worth $8. Our meal for two with tip was $75 and we didn't even order any alcohol, a little pricey for diner food.

This was a return visit. The food was good first time but did not wow me. The service was so horrible and the overall experience was so bad this time I will not return and cannot recommend this place. The air conditioner went off and it was hotter than blazes there, for which no one acknowledge this at all. The server got the first drink order right and then was impossible to find again. One guest ordered off of the gluten free menu but a different server brought this out and gave to wrong guest. When we questioned if this was the gluten free item, server wasn't sure and would go check. This is highly unacceptable for someone who must know if it is gluten free for 100% sure. It took several attempts to order more drinks - folks, I'm trying to give you more money here by ordering easy drinks and you disappear? The food was somewhat creative and good but I cannot justify the overly priced items. It is a step-up diner and I want it to be so much more but it failed twice. Really it was the service and atmosphere that killed this one for me. I had such high hopes the 2nd time here.

We went for a late snack and dessert and Little Goat didn't disappoint. We had the deep fried pickles and onions which were super crunchy in a very light batter and the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were also super crunchy from the noodle wrapped around them, and the 'cocktail' sauce was the perfect side as it was thicker, almost like a salsa, with just the right amount to of horseradish. We had those appetizers with a great local Radler. We then followed up with coffee and a a slice of the French silk pie and the peach cobbler pie a la mode. Both were delicious. And our server was AWESOME. A really personable guy who was attentive and charming and I felt we had a genuine interaction with him.

To me, the menu is a (for lack of a better term) wacky take on the classic American diner, wacked in the head by a jar of kimchi. While that description might make it out to be 'exotic', it's really food that eaters with -any- sense of adventure would find enjoyable and inspiring. The prices are lower you'd might expect - closer to diner prices than a five star restaurant.

So, at a Renaissance Festival or a theme park you can get recreations of 'medieval' food, except that, since this is the modern day, we make it 100 times better than real medieval food, and if a really Medieval person time traveled and ate it, it would all be impossibly, surreal better than the real thing. This is like that only for a diner, as if people from the future when food is much better than it is now were making a historical reenactment of a diner, and everything looks like a diner but is impossibly delicious. A simple burger, crumpets and butter, their 'smoked fries', the 'bread of the day' all are just many many times better than you expect given the basic diner style.\n\nI've been to Little Goat four times now and keep discovering more incredibly good dishes. Fancy things like the Almighty Goat burger and the salted caramel steak are wonderful, but so are simple things like the goat chili, the 'sloppy goat' and the basic mushroom burger. Asian fusion elements, like adding kimchi to lots of things, work very well, though occasionally their more out-there dishes are more fascinating than they are delicious. All the sides and baked goods have been extraordinary, and we keep ordering seconds of them.\n\nTheir desserts are also implausibly good, and I am not someone for whom desert is usually the highlight of the meal. The Passionfruit Pie is incredible, fiercely-strong tart passionfruit center with a too-sweet top so it balances out to a perfect intense flavor overload; the pies are small but still too much for one person so I usually share one with friends and get a second one to take home for later. They run out of the pies by the later part of the evening, though. \n\nIMPORTANT: they make milkshakes and sundaes out of gelato made by Black Dog, and if you ask they'll bring you the gelato straight. Their 'Burnt butter' and 'Smoked pork' gelati are truly brilliant, and worth making a special request for.

The eggs were cooked perfectly but the kimchi overwhelmed the dish and the cheese biscuit and sausage also got lost In the overall flavor. The cinnamon roll and coffee were superb, perfectly balanced. The omelette was wonderful and delicately seasoned. The noise level was too much at times... Can't wait to return.

The food and service was excellent, except for the hostess. We arrived less than 5 minutes before our reservation early on a Thursday night and while there were plenty of open tables we were told it would be a 10-15 minute wait. I asked if this was enough time to order a drink and the hostess said we should go order at the 'counter.' Of course as soon as we sat down we were questioned by a well-meaning server why we sat there, we explained what the hostess said, and the server said we should go to the bar in the back of the restaurant that was not visible at all. This made no sense since we were told the 'counter' but we tried to go back there. After waiting awhile we just decided to go wait in the front until our table was ready, where we saw the same hostess turn away a group of 2 saying the wait would be hours and then less than 5 minutes later immediately seating a group of 4 that also did not have reservations?? This made no business sense to me. The hostess looked about 16 so maybe she was brand new or something.

I'm sorry to say that I was really disappointed. I preferred the menu of Little Goat to the other goat, and this restaurant didn't require booking way in advance. I liked the diner feel, and that was probably the only redeeming thing to note in this review. The server was cheery at first, but unfortunately, the lack of management the night I dined showed, as she seemed overwhelmed with running about everywhere. The manager or the owner (dressed in black) stopped by the table behind me to apologize about the food not coming out on time, and he told them that it was on the house. We receive a few of our items in decent time. After a really long break and no checking in on us, the waitress finally comes and asks if we would like to wrap up leftovers. My sister and I looked at each other, and I asked the waitress if the other items we ordered were coming out. She commented on how one of the two was one of her favorites. I specifically recall going in order and even pointed at each item on the menu as she wrote each one down. For a second, I thought I could have just gone mad, but my sister confirmed that what I remembered was true, and that doctor has a great memory. So instead of apologizing, she said something to the effect of not recalling that. We finally get the cheesy grits and the tempura mashed potatoes, and although the texture of the tempura was a nice touch, it was so bland and not even worth the wait. No manager/owner came out to take that off the bill. Why I tipped 20% is beyond me. This wasn't even a Friday or Saturday night. You lose any kind of service when you're here on any night for dinner, it seems, and the food just isn't that good.

We came with a large group and they put us in a booth. We are not tiny guys and this gave us all about 10 inches of table space and no elbow room. Once we were seated, it became clear we were expected to order, eat and get out. I found this rude since our reservation was for 10pm, there were numerous open tables, and no one else coming in the door to fill seats. Maybe I went into Little Goat with too high of expectations, seeing as it's a sister restaurant to Girl and the Goat, but the food was nothing special. The consensus of the group was 'meh' and the patty melt I ordered was nothing more than a beef patty and cheese on soggy toast. I couldn't even pick it up and had to use a fork. I mean, it is called a diner. Maybe they are going for the slap it on the plate, throw it on the table, pay, go and give no ****'s atmosphere.

This was my second time at the Little Goat. The first time I loved it, this time was only ok. Hostesses were welcoming and helpful. Our food was only ok - good special soup, a weird tasting veggie flatbread dish, and a burger that came pretty rare rather than the requested medium ( better than being overdone, tho). Service was friendly but rushed - my plate was cleared before my husband was finished and when they were clearing mine they took his bread dish and moved the knife he had resting on it to his main plate, kinda of a hurry-up vibe. Nothing serious and the place is clearly popular, so I'd go back but maybe stick with the breakfast items.

My husband had the iconic goat burger which was MASSIVE and had many patrons turning their heads to look--for sure indulgent but very tasty. I had the fish tostadas--good but too many for one person so would be good to share--after 2 I was satisfied with the flavors and didn't need to eat more. Would I return here again? Seriously, I know everyone loves Stephanie Izard but this woman...and her food...totally worth the praise. I haven't absolutely loved everything I've had there but there is SO much flavor and creativity in the menu that it's really hard to not still be happy with your eating experience here. An example to explain my previous statement - I ordered a side of the biscuits and gravy with brunch. I'm not a fan of mushrooms and the gravy was mushroom based. Not exactly a flavor my love but the biscuit was fabulous and it was still some of the silkiest gravy I've seen. \n\nLittle Goat has some lovely combinations that will excite your little taste buds. I seriously have to really try and find faults in food whenever I eat at an Izard restaurant.\n\nGet some friends, go early on a weekend or weekday (if you're off of work or whatever) and go eat here. My husband and I visited Little Goat on Fri 5/8 during our first trip to Chicago. We booked our reservation for LG after being unable to book Girl & the Goat. We ended up with a very early reservation at 5:30. We were not disappointed.\n\nThe interior was beautifully decorated, music was good but not too loud, and service was good. The room was very open - there were booths, tables, and a large communal table. Despite the diner being pretty full, it was not noisy. \n\nWe loved and would recommend everything we ordered - mo-heat-o cocktail (similar to mojito with peppercorn vodka instead of rum) crab dip, pork belly pancake sammich, springy shrimp & pork belly, and Choco taco sundae.\n\nMy only suggestion (and this has nothing to do with LG), is that if you have an early reservation like we did and are relying upon a cab for transportation, give yourself plenty of time to get there. It was raining while we were driving there (or we would have walked) and it took us 35 minutes to go 11 blocks.\n\nOverall, Little Goat was an awesome experience. I would love to have breakfast the next time we go!

My husband and I kept switching plates so we could try both items and neither of us could decide which we liked best. We shared a lemon blueberry pie for dessert that was so tasty and not too large. A huge amount of corned beef vs. the tiny amount of egg and barely there potato strands. It felt like I was eating a bowl of corned beef with some garnishes. Also - I always think a good hash benefits from a hearty green like kale to balance the 'oil' factor. I would recommend to a friend bc there's a large menu and it's a cool place to go, but I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. \n\nI do love their hot chocolate though!!

The Little Goat Diner is my favorite place to meet friends when they come into Chicago. Most stay downtown (I'm in the 'burbs); but we are all early birds and usually are there when it opens at 7:00 am. I have had friends from all over the world meet me for breakfast and all have raved about the great service, wonderful ford, and overall charming feel of an 'old school' diner. I love the place. You will too.

Visiting Chicago and unable to get reservations at the Girl and the Goat we settled for the little sister Little Goat and they didn't disappoint. We were sat down right away during the busy lunch hour and our food arrived super fast and everything tasted super fresh. The crumpets were amazingly fluffy and the flavor combination of sweet, salty and fried goodness was a real treat. They have really mastered the fusing of a variety of flavors here so that it's different but at the same time not unfamiliar. This is a great neighborhood spot and if I lived in the city I would visit here regularly with family and friends.

We went for breakfast at Little Goat while on vacation in Chicago. Food is usually our top priority while on holiday and we generally plan the rest of our activities around our restaurant reservations or must go to spots to enjoy local favourites. Little Goat did not disappoint. Stopped in for breakfast on our way to the Frank Lloyd Wright House & Studio Tour. I was a bit worried we might be rushed to make our tour time but once we had ordered the food came out quite quickly but more importantly it was absolutely delicious! My husband had the shrimp and grits with a biscuit - recommended by our server - and I had the french toast with fried chicken(!) and a perfectly cooked runny egg baked right into the bread. We enjoyed several delicious meals while in Chicago and will absolutely recommend Little Goat. Hopefully we will have the pleasure of returning to Chicago and Little Goat sooner rather than later.

So glad I made the trip out to the West Loop for Little Goat! Great variety of food in a fun diner setting. This is a good location for people of all ages. I saw plenty of couples on dates as well as families with kids. As a vegetarian there weren't a ton of options, but there were at least one or two per category. But what they may lack in vegetarian options they definitely made up in flavor! I tried the Indian Burrito (in breakfast category) and was so impressed. I had the Pork Belly Pancake and my friend had the Sloppy Goat. The portions were generous and delicious. We went to Little Goat to celebrate my birthday. It was a glorious day - we sat outside and had a wonderful lunch. I especially enjoyed seeing that the specials for the day include a special bread (ours was rosemary-lemon focaccia with tarragon butter and plum-tomate jam - amazing), a special coffee (Stumptown's finest made a white chocolate mocha with a salted rim - I was in heaven), and a Cake of the Day (how brilliant). We enjoyed our 'sammiches' - goat BBQ and pulled pork. Portions are really generous, so I would recommend pacing yourself. They also serve breakfast all day and from the looks of the pancakes on the table next to us, I think we will be returning for breakfast. We were there at lunch time and the bakery didn't have much available. Maybe there is more at the beginning of the morning. However, the honey graham Cake of the Day was excellent - a bit heavy but I loved the taste - and a portion size large enough for 3 people.

I have always thought that Stephanie Izzard's staff, whether at Girl and the Goat or Little Goat, are among the best trained in the city. This visit supports my thought. Little Goat is an early morning gem and Amanda just added to the experience.

My first experience at Little Goat was a good one. Arrived early on a Saturday evening and was seated promptly. Not very crowded - I expected crowds based on the hype. Guess we were too early.\n\nService was informal but professional. Iced tea wasn't very good - tasted instant. Since it was expensive (over $3), it should have been better.\n\nFood was quite good. The standout was the blue plate special for the evening - salmon. The fish was beautifully prepared with a crisp skin via brown butter. The milky sauce contained a hint of horseradish. Fingerling potato slices and pea pods were tasty additions. A few shrimp were also included for garnish. I thought the description also mentioned asparagus but none was found. Overall a well-prepared and delicious dish.\n\nWatching others receive their orders was a pleasure. I lusted after many of the plates as they went by - they all looked delicious. Most were based on comfort foods so a lot of French fries, sauces, cheese, etc.\n\nOverall a but pricey for a diner but at the food justified the prices. I will return to try some of the other menu items that looked/sounded interesting.

The title says it all. The food is bland. Off the menu it reads like an incredible experience in flavor, but in the end the food is boring and bland. Dishes we had were sloppy goat, korean burger, fries and mac n cheese. The fries were the best part of the meal. The sloppy goat was nothing particularly interesting or revelatory. Perhaps people are just intrigued and energized about a not very common protein in goat. The burger was just OK. Bacon couldn't be tasted. The kimchi wasn't particularly great. The mac n cheese was so incredibly boring. The cheese mix was bland.

Our only negative was that valet parking was full. Finding a parking spot in that neighborhood is always a challenge. They nicely held our RSVP when we were a little late as a result of needing to park at the car. Interesting menu that has unique offerings without being crazy exotic.

Unable to get a reservation at the Girl and the Goat for our trip to Chicago, we decided to try its diner-style relative, Little Goat. This was an awesome bet. Very trendy, lively, fun...even at 8 AM on a Friday morning. The service was very friendly, and they even made sure to ask if there were any allergies or anything we'd like the kitchen to know about. Unlike a lot of Chicago brunch spots that have one or two signature dishes and the rest is pretty standard fare, each of the items on the menu here was familiar but with a distinctive, creative twist. So much thought goes into the food they prepare there. The Fat Elvis waffles... bacon-studded maple syrup and peanut butter-butter...what else can you say?!?! We visit Chicago once a year and have been to countless of the highly recommended breakfast places, and this is by far one of the best. And better yet, it takes reservations on Open Table, so you won't be waiting out the door for two hours for your pancakes!

Going with a group would be better, so that you can try more.

Made a reservation on opentable a few min before we came in. The host said, 'you just made this reservation and we don't have any seating.' Ok!?!? How is this my fault when opentable is connected with your system. How rude. So, we waited. We were finally seated and decided on our selections, then the waitress asked if we had allergies. Then offered a dairy free menu, shouldn't you have asked that from the beginning, before we made our selections!\nThe food was good tho, so try the deep fried taters! The elote had too much lime. We also had their take on a Moscow mule, and the added grapefruit was too much.

We waited about 20 min to be seated, but it gave us time to enjoy the bar and start drinking our wine. Once seated, the server was very knowledgeable and helped us navigate the extensive menu. The waitress checked on us after a bit into our entrees, so we thought the fries were on the way. No, we finished our entrees and looked around for a while for the waitress to appear. Ten minutes or so later, a manager sees our distressed look for our waitress and remedies the situation. Our fries finally came and do have a great hint to them. I recently had dinner with a friend at Little Goat Diner which was the third time that I have eaten there. I 'found' the bar as I had about a 30 minute wait for my friend and the bartenders were friendly, the wine came in a tiny juice glass which was a bit odd, and the ambience of the bar was rustic. I liked that you could see into the baking kitchen from the bar and watched the bakers making bread dough off and on while I waited. Once we were seated, we were greeted by the waitress who was pleasant and who was obviously anxious for us to order and 'get the meal going'. My friend and I had a lot of catching up to do and so we basically took our time and ordered at our own pace. The food was the star. We started with the Goat'O Goat'O salad which was absolutely delicious! It delivered just what it promised shrimp, lots of veggies, won ton strips and a tasty nectarine tamarind-peanut dressing. For dinner we shared the Not Chinese Broccoli and the Bahn Mi Style Veggie Burger. The broccoli was nothing to rave over because it was a bit drenched in the sauce; however the Bahn Mi Veggie Burger was the bomb!! The melt in your mouth bun, veggies, orange mayo and mint and cilantro throughout were incredibly tasty and satisfying in texture. I cannot wait until I can go back and order this burger again. To finish, at the end of our meal our waitress surprised us with a free dessert that the 'chef had made up by accident.' What a TREAT. The Lazy Sundae Morning ice cream dessert was delectable. I couldn't stop eating the ice cream, caramel sauce and crunchy toffee like cereal pieces. The blyeberries, which looked like tiny blueberries were a surprising and welcome addition to the masterpiece. If you haven't tried Little Goat Diner and you are looking for a tasty, Chicago treasure, I vote yes!

Hi there! I don't usually make comments about our experience but I have to say we were very disappointed. We usually go to Girl and the Goat when we are in town for NRA (the National Restaurant show) In fact, I think I've been there 5 times. This time we decided to try Little Goat. The service was less then mediocre. Our waitress had 32 people she was trying to serve in our section. There is no way someone can really do a good job serving 32 people. The manager had to come try to help clear dishes and fill drinks, while our waitress tried to help everyone in her section. When our waitress did fill drinks, she made sure to fill our teas with just tea and not additional ice. So we were getting warm tea and melted drinks. There was no way she could be attentive enough to us. Then we get to the food. I tried the grilled cheese and it was not good. The smoke fries are really nothing good at all. Limp, weak fries with very little smoke to them. We didn't eat any of them. Thus we didn't eat our chili cheese fries because the fries were so bad. The chicken fingers/tenders were tasteless. I guess you don't marinate them so there was no flavor to the meat. My coworker liked his shrimp and grits, burger was enjoyed by someone else. Truly the service was so bad that the food was made even worse. We try to stack attributes to make a meal great and memorable. This evening you all stacked bad attributes and made it all bad. We didn't want dessert for fear of what it would taste like or how long it would take but the waitress ended up bringing us two and the sundae had a terrible flavor and I don't remember the other one. we are a restaurant company owning 11 restaurants (I know, not much) try to make the service the best we can. I'm sure we fail sometimes but we don't allow our servers to have more then 3 tables or about 12-14 people to serve. Tables move quickly, people get served well, good tips.

I wish there was some potatoes or something that accompanied it to offset how powerful the taste was. I just stole some of my husband's smoked french fries. :) \n\nOthers ordered the Bulleye's French toast, cheeseburger, and a cinnamon bun. Everyone was satisfied and was definitely a hit with all around the table.

Go here to indulge, brunch was fantastic, you will definitely come out full and satisfied. I had the Bull's eye French toast which didn't need the fried chicken, and was delicious with the bbq maple syrup (sweet/salty combo). The pork belly pancake and regular pancakes were a favorite, the Little Piggy went to China was heavier on the flavor/meat side. If you want to be daring, go for the Little Goat latte (made from goat milk, which is really more of an after taste)\n\nWhile there were Asian flavors, I thought this was a well executed menu of slight-fusion brunch plates, still felt like I was in an American diner.

Chef Izard completely surprised us with this amazing and fun experience at Little Goat. This is not your typical diner... With a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere, the service staff was attentive and knowledgable about the entire menu. They were able to recommend the best dishes that are popular but also hit our preferences. Our fried mash potato was perfectly crispy ... Even after 15 minutes. The greens was a great balance between sour and savory with the use of fish sauce. The tuna melt blew us away with the tasty large salad and the creamy filling. I loved the salad with the large shrimp that is perfectly cooked and not chewy. The lemon tart was amazing ... It was tart with the right amount of sweet and puckering sour. It even converted a few people who hate lemon desserts. The service really put it over the top as a favourite experience ... They genuinely cared and have pride in their restaurant.

I have diner here a bunch of times and the biggest challenge is not ordering what I ordered during my last visit. I loved each dish so much, I just want to order it again. This is not the place for a the low-cal meal. It's rich and delicious just like great diner food.

I have had breakfast at Little Goat twice, but this was the first time for dinner. I was w/ four friends and we loved it! We had five different dishes - scallops, grilled cheese sandwich, burger, sloppy goat and chicken salad. Everyone was happy. Shared the strawberry/ rhubarb dessert - yum. I would call it 'hip diner.' Someone else in our party thought of it as comfort food. They were out of the fried chicken.

The food was good. We ended up with two servers. The second server let us know he was taking over for the first which was appreciated. I got the Kanatsu (sp) a breaded pork sandwich. My mom got the bulls eye French toast. We both enjoyed what we ordered. I had enough of my sandwich left to take half home. I ordered the sandwich with the mayo and bbq sauce on the side. I actually like it more with out the various sauces, but I am not a fan of mayo.

Great experience!! Even in the rain this place was packed so we were definitely thankful for our reservation!

We had a fun evening but were disappointed with our starter and that the sandwiches did not come with a side. The sandwiches were good though - we just thought the crab dip started was overpriced and skimped on actual crab meat.

We were meeting some clients for a business lunch this past Friday. The reservation was for (4). When (3) of showed up, the front desk first told us that we would need to wait for the 4th before we could be sat. The front desk and entrance crowed with people standing waiting to be seated. It seemed nuts that they would not seat us when 3 of the 4 people were standing in front of them. After pressing them, they finally sat the three of us in a booth while we waited for our client or 4th. Our client showed up with two other people and now our group was 6. When we approached the front desk and asked for a spot that would now accommodate (6), the front desk staff saw it was the group that wanted to be seated before we had our group and said 'you will have to wait in line for the next table'. So my clients agreed to squeeze into this small booth in lieu of waiting. \n\nI have been to this establishment a few times before as well as the Girl and The Goat and all of those experiences have been amazing. This group at the front desk this past Friday was not friendly at all and when given the chase, vented their demeanor on customers when our request extended beyond our reservation of 4. This restaurant business is first and foremost a 'customer service' platform....the food here is very good and our waitress was great as well. You just need to get past the angry staff at the front desk.
