The food was second to none, absolutely gorgeous. However, I would expect nothing less at the price. Location is ideal - right in the centre of town
It is not value for money. First time (out of many stays at hotels in the UK/worldwide) I have come across Car park charges (3.50 per day) and internet charges on the top of room charge (GBP 6.50 per hr, 12 GBP per day). The food is good, and the staff is nice during the meals but does not seem to be professional. The overall impression is unfriendly. One of our colleagues did not have internet appliance in the room. Rather than go and check her complaint, a memebr of staff sent back to "look for it better, as they shall be in every room". Then next day after repeated complains she had an appliance brought in; which did not work and again instead of checking she was advised to "enter the room number correctly". They seem to be nice people but either not trained, or suffer from severe lack of personell.
convenient for opera house back facing room and afair distance from the lift, my husband has walking difficulties
Food was brilliant The bar that was advertised as showing sky sports wasnt even open.
The hotel staff were very polit and helpfull . the rooms were spacious , clean and comfortable . Breakfast was very nice with a good choice of food .
Friendly, quality staff. Good breakfast.
That the hotel was in the centre of Buxton, which was handy for shopping and eating out.
The quality and selection of food in the restaurant was very poor and lets down this otherwise excellent hotel
Hotel was clean. A bit too warm!
It was friendly service, a very nice room and delicious breakfast! I would definitely stay again. nothing
The main thing about staying here is it is "different". It feels special and is a treat versus the usual nice hotel! Not really, although it has to be said that the rooms are quite small and cottage-like. The photographs give the impression of a much more spacious layout.
a wonderful hideaway in Alderley Edge, but within walking distance of many restaurants and shopping in the surrounding area. The suite was simply beautiful and the owner (Ian) could not have been more helpful Will be booking again.
The uniqueness of the property and excellent service were both a refreshing change and a great experience.
Spotless, more than one room, fresh flowers, comfortable bed, good tv Not a hotel but self catering rooms ina not a hotel but self catering accommodation in a pprivate house,no staff,no breakfast served, strong unpleasant smell, clutter, needs extra bedside table, poor parking facilities
Lovely property - great if you are looking for something a bit different to a hotel. Fabulous location and very relaxing - highly recommended
the cottage was amazing. Totally unique experience, will definitely come back and will tell friends about it. Clean and warm with lots of interesting thingsto look at .
Had a wonderful time at Wizard's Thatch. The suite was charming. Will stay longer next time.
It was absolutely chocolate box meets, four weddings and a funeral and the sumptuous luxury of the mini break in bridget jones' diary. The proximity to London Roads vibrant and cosmopolitan night life more than makes up for any absent room service.
everything was absolutly amazing and we wil definately be going back at some point. We wish we could live there permamently. Thank you very much!!
The location isnt brilliant! It's at the end of a potholed drive and at the end of an industrial estate - but it is only 5 minutes from the town centre of Buxton. The rooms are not big and the bathroom is tiny but it has all the facilities. However, the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was more than enough. The price is very attractive and of course, parking is free which is not the case in the centre of Buxton. We would stay again! I suppose we would have preferred a bigger bathroom. There is only room for one person at a time.
Excellent location. Ample Parking. friendly and helpful staff. My single bed had Ensuite. Had tea making capability. Breakfast was not even an additional option. But to be fair there were places around.
Ladies very friendly and helpful. Breakfast fan-tas-tic. Accommodation delightful..
The food in the restaurant was of a pretty good standard and the breakfast had a good selection. The room was of a poor quality and looked extremely tired with stains on the carpets. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and gave me backache. There was peeling wallpaper in the public areas and a bucket in the hall way collecting dripping water. This does not warrant 3 stars.
1 night was not long enough to say
Rooms where really nice, staff vey helpful. No aircon
Hotel in desperate need of refurbishment - inside and out.
Rooms were nice and in the evenings we more or less had the pool, jacuzzi and saunas to ourselves Queues at the reception which, with only one person there, you couldn't avoid even if it was just to get a second room key.
relaxed atmosphere The hotel & facilities are getting tired - worn carpets, shabby gymn, etc.
Convenient location in need of a makeover
Very friendly staff Old fashioned rooms, small bathrooms
Good and pleasant location over the last 20 years have stayed at the Belfry many times but not so many recently as I did not need a room in a hotel in the area I was in room 411 which is a good room - but to get to it the lift one uses is an antique - if one does not properly shut the inner gate, then it works for no one. The stripy black & white carpet on the 4th floor is not pleasant to look at. The passageway from reception to the lift is unlike anything I have experienced elsewhere. It is narrow and one winds around quite a bit.
When i payed my bill i was overcharged the lady in the reception was unable to give me a refund .I had to go to see the reception the next day for my refund .Staff need training on how to deal with customers problems
The service in the restaurant was excellent and so was the food and the wine. We had two rooms and the TV did not work properly in one room. We didn't complain, however, because we were only staying overnight.
We had a corner room with windows on two sides which gave the room plenty of daylight and we were also overlooking the Pavilion Gardens No
the position, the food the helpfulness of the staff No problems identified
Staff were friendly and it was possible to have a post theatre dinner. Hotel was busy but breakfast was served well. Didn't realise till the next day that there was an even better option of having part of the meal before the theatre and finishing after. Our room was very cold, all the radiators were turned off and, although we could have asked for a fan heater we were going out very soon after booking in.
The hotel is warm and welcoming, a lovely building with efficient, friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are good, the food is excellent, the location is beautiful. It's an exceptional hotel and I would definitely return. Nothing. it was all good.
Unique and interesting hotel with lots of history and friendly, sincere staff.
excellent service, very interesting building, good central location The room was very warm even though the windows were wide open (in november) and we turned the radiators off, it was bearable at this time of year but we might think twice about staying here during summer.
The friendliness and courtesy of the staff No
friendly staff and location
Food in the Hen room excellent Room 41 poky and not good value
Staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfasts very good, very friendly cook. Only area of negative comment, a barman in the public house seemed to be unable to raise a smile, appeared pretty unhappy in his job.
Good value for money. Pub menu varied and food of good quality, so we were happy to eat on site.
Good English breakfast, well equipped and spacious room. Member of staff being dismissed at breakfast, poor continental breakfast.
Quiet, comfortable & clean room. Separate from bar. Delicious bar food! Very helpful staff.
Very clean and comfortable room, plenty of tea and coffee available. Music a bit loud in pub next door.
the proximty to where i wanted to be & the great value for money
The most reeming factor of this hotel is the location. It is sufficiently close to Manchester airport wthout all the hustle & bustle. Accomodation was not very warm until the thermostat was located behind a chair. The restaurant was cold and the breakfast was not very inspiring. The evening meal was a disastor resulting in eating in the local balti house, which incidently was excellent.
Pleasant quiet room A little slow booking in as receptionist had gone elsewhere
Staff very friendly and helpful, bar area dog friendly Hotel under refurbishment, workers started very early.
Good location one night stay over good comfy bed clean bathroom etc
The breakfast was good and the staff very pleasant. The bed was not very good at all.
Cleanliness, Friendly Staff and Location Stayed in 'old' wing. Poor lighting made it impossible to use hairdryer. Room 29 toilet awkward to use due to positioning.
Good hospitality. Lack of family room for three people.
Excellent choice of Breakfast and the close proximity to restaurants and bars etc. Free parking. Freezing cold room - we had to get an engineer to fix radiator and the bathroom was shabby and old fashioned.
Friendly staff None
Cleanliness, friendly, efficient service, excellent breakfast
Excellent location, Duty Manager Lee very helpful & Breakfast staff delightful with delicious hot cooked breakfast. Sadly the extractor fan in the rooom next door was on all night resulting in no sleep and the fan in our room also really loud
Paid £53, expected like other Premier inn! 2 people stayed in single room with double bed which moved towards wall. No place for vanity, dampness and black colour on ceiling in the bathroom. Tall mirror was hiding.
Large room reasonably priced Decor a bit outdated. Why did we need nine framed pictures of Julia Roberts in the room?
good location, very helpful and friendly staff and good food Decor a bit whacky and dated
Friendly atmosphere Tight parking
Freindly, good food, very helpful, good location A bit scruffy, in need of decoration here and there.
Convenient location. Breakfast was fine. Not all towels were clean.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable
very friendly staff, breakfast served very quickly, ideal location for centre of Buxton, overall very good. This is the first time I've visted Buxton but my partner lived there several years.
Convenient, half way house between Bath and Newcastle, Dales lovely, and Buxton interesting. The breakfast was fine, but the organisation to supply it not so. Staff standing around, not able to take orders, and those taking orders rushed off their feet. Better staff deployment would improve the flow.
Was very disappointed with this hotel, it is not how it looks on the pictures. Who ever decided to put a ice machine on the landing wants shooting !! You don't pay that amount of money to go away for the night to be woken by security getting their ice every half an hour.
The hotel was convenient to the train station and easy walking distance to the small town centre. It had an en suite and a tv in the room. The decoration in the room was quite dated so could do with re-decoration and a more modern TV. The kettle looked quite old. It seemed strange to have framed photographs of Gwyneth Paltrow around the room, but I imagine other rooms are similarly themed.
Good location. Lodge is clean and well appointed. Staff were very friendlyand helpful. Did not eat in restaurant but it looked very inviting.
Excellent beer, nice atmospheric pub. Friendly staff. It problems with checking in system - staff handled it well though. Air con set to 28degC!
Very convenient to wilmslow, knutsford and mobberley, we were there my No, loved it, However there wer people like us having to come downstairs in our pyjamas for a cigarrette
Wilmslow Lodge itself was fine When we arrived the Lodge had no record of our internet booking. The guy on the desk was extremely helpful and although fully booked mananged to juggle the rooms to accommodate us. To say this was poor service from your administration is being polite. We had travelled up from Romsey Hampshire and my husband was considering having to return after attending our function. Apparently this is not the first time this has happened and I would be grateful for your comments
Allowed us our request of 12 noon check out None
Pleasant and simple interior design in rooms. Good facilities. Nice family-friendly inn with nice atmosphere. some staff serving at the inn not that friendly.
Pub Coach and Four was great, room was clean and confortable, I felt at ease with nothing that really bothered me at this price At this price nothing stood out to complain about.
Bed was very comfortable Even when all the lights were on because of the light shades the room was still quite dark for reading lots of business documents
Spacious, well furnished room and large comfortable bed - friendly staff in hotel and attached pub. None
Good all round No bad points
the couple are very friendly and they gave us a warm welcome.
Room too small for family of 4 & breakafast too early!
We received a very warm welcome upon arrival & were immediately made to feel at home. We enjoyed a relaxing stay & a tasty cooked breakfast. Their homemade plum muffins were gorgeous! Our shower in the morning wasn't terribly hot - probably not helped by the fact that it was the coldest night of the year! That wouldn't prevent us from going back though - we loved Park View Guest House!
quite night sleep nothing
Excellent location for Alton Towers. Took us 15 minures at about 8.45 when the park was emptying. The best though is the owners, very friendly and helpful and could not do enough to make us feel at home. Could not recommend highly enough. Would fed stay again.
I felt welcome, the couple who run it are lovely, it felt like a home from home.
People were lovely rooms where dated but we just wanted somewhere to stay and close by alton towers. Da dated room no where to get a nice meal you had to travel which we didn't have a car so we stuffed are faces in alton towers...
Really friendly staff!
The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts were very good. Parking was free which was useful.
My original room was dirty, overheated with stained marked furniture, but the v.v.hot pipes made it impossible to sit, never mind sleep in. The receptionist on duty was v.helpful and managed to get me another room, still hot, but because it had more air coming in I could sleep. The heat from the pipes running through the room was at a dangerous level. I would not have taken a child into those rooms. I had to sleep with only the duvet cover, no duvet. This wasn't during a spell of hot weather!
good allround, simple rooms, everything worked and was clean + near the rail station. one staff member was very irritated when i asked for a receipt after paying cash for an extra night and no internet access afterall, (although local library was geat for that!)
Quiet rooms with comfortable beds The local car park details in the hotel were out of date and dispite their bochure saying every room had a trouser press I could not find one in room 116
Great location and excellent value for money. Really nice breakfast and nice touch with the complimentary bottle of wine. Overall making for a very positive experience. Room was not as clean as it might be. Not a problem that the amenities were only basic, but carpet and beds looked like well overdue for replacement.
The service was very good and an excellent buffet breakfast was available. The location was also very convenient. It would have been better if there was a private hotel for customers as we had to park in the supermarket car park and there did seem to be a problem with gangs in the vacinity of the hotel. I think this was because it was a Friday night. We have previously visited on a sunday and it was very quiet.
friendly helpful receptionist Lift had been broken for a week and still not repaired - we were on the 3rd floor - fortunately we were only staying one night as we were in Hale for a wedding. There was no parking on site. Street parking was payable from 8.00am.
The facilities were poor, needs updating Decor and poor quality food, ate out
The location. having a beer outside in the sunshine during Happy Hour. Would benefit from revamped bathroom. Better information passing to night staff.(request for early breakfast was not relayed) This happenened during our last stay also.
Availability at a time of high demand and proximity to airport The room was in the middle of being re-decorated, smelled of paint, window was open to try and clear fumes and room had been pressed back into service to take advantage of high demand
Friendly staff Comfortable, quiet room No
Staff were very attentive and helpful. The hotel is situated near to the amenities in Buxton.
I would have to say that I was equally impressed by the quality of the room and the evening meal, both excellent. Neither my wife or I could find fault with anything on our one night stay.
The initial welcome from the staff was very pleasant. Also, the lack of cigarette smoke, considering the ban in England has yet to be enforced, was very pleasing.
Pleasent rooms & Resaurant No
The standard og the room was good Although the car park was not full the room for parking was very tight
lovely breakfast. Attractive grounds and hotel. The room was very comfortable but the bathroom could have been cleaner (hairs in the bath) Overall I would stay again. No great complaints.
We looked around Buxton but really came to attend a 60th birthday party - jointly for my husband and a friend of ours My only negative thing was that we had room 28 and the radiator could not be switched off. Hence our room was very very hot!!!! However, this will not stop us coming again.
Relaxing hotel with good parking and facilities and comfortable rooms for exploring Buxton and the peaks.
Complimentary internet, fast check-in, breakfast was decent, although the coffee wasn't great. I felt sorry for the waitress serving breakfast who was all on her own... definitely requires more than one waiter at breakfast. The room was dirty, stained carperts, and rubbish underneath the bed. The water pressure in the shower was extremely poor and felt like it was being hand-pumped! The exterior pictures on the website doesn't truly indicate the location nor the age of the building.
The breakfast was great!
The hotel staff were excellent, welcoming and friendly and for a night out in Alderley Edge, its location is perfect. The room, despite being nicely decorated and pretty well equipped, was very small and really only suitable for one person.
beautiful garden, close to village with good restaurants, excellent service small room. no air conditioning. musty smell in room
Stayed before-restaurant is excellent.Lovely building,just upgrading rooms.Love the place,definitely returning(again)
Fabulous location, gorgeous room, luxury bathrobes provided, excellent freshly cooked breakfast, helpful, friendly staff, quiet and peaceful ambience throughout hotel. Although quality toiletries, only bare minimum provided - no shower cap, hair conditioner or body lotion provided.
Staff - helpful, courteous, efficient Restaurant - absolutely outstanding, the best meal I have ever had (and I've eaten in some world class restaurants) Temperature of room: it was very warm. I am from a subtropical climate, so if I think it's warm, it is. There was only a small window, poorly located, and the room received most of the day's sunlight.
That all the members of staff were very friendly when we arrived at the hotel. That we had to keep the fan on throughout the night in our room as it was to warm in the room, and we had bad headaches in the morning.
