Could not ask for more for this price
the warmth of the reception i got i wish i could get some basic thins like crisps and coke as everywhere were shut after 23;00hrs
Very conveniently situated in Lucca, specially for the railway station and the town centre. Pleasantly cool in hot temperatures. Breakfast enjoyable. Management is very helpful. Its a small enclosed town and noise does reverberate, specially scooters.
The location was perfect, just five minutes walk to train station and within the city walls at the same time. The staff was very friendly. The room was simple but clean. The building was in a very bad condition. Needs to be renovated.
the lovely Anna was a wonderful hostess, the friendliness and the town of Lucca no lift
The owner and her daughter were very nice. We felt at home. It was conventiently located. We had a private bathroom and shower. No A/C, and because our window faced the street it was a bit noisy at night.
the owner was very nice, but not enough english, not her fault of course It was old and having renovations done and smelt very badly
We fell in love with Lucca, it's a beautiful place. Ann the landlady was very friendly and helpful The only problem we experienced was there were 3 flights of stairs and no lift, this was not mentioned on the Ad. We had 3-weeks worth of clothes in 3 large suitcases and it was a major struggle getting them up to our room. It wouldn't be a problem for people travelling light.
Anna and Sara Location Breakfast Lovely room None
We had a large comfortable room with a fridge. The B&B is in a safe area just outide the walls and a short stroll to the centre. There is an excellent, good value restaurant / pizzeria just around the corner and a supermarket nearby. The owners were very helpful. No complaints whatsoever.
friendly staff, distance to the city
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and it was tastefully decorated. Had a difficult time looking for the location of the hotel as we arrived late at night. We had no cell phone so we had a problem to contact the staff regarding the keys to get inside.
The location to the city center. Hotel is very clean. There is no charm to the facility. Towels are terrible and amenities are scarce. Location to the train station is not walking distance and there are few sidewalks between the train station and the hotel. Limited hours for check-in are very restrictive. No phone in room.
The proprietors, Daniele and Gabriele, are professional, generous, and eager to do anything and everything to make a guest feel comfortable and at home. From providing routing and dining advice, to making me feel comfortable operating the professional espresso machine in the breakfast room, the "you're in good hands" expression would apply. The room was totally comfortable and livable, the bathroom clean - and there was free parking, which for Lucca is a real boon. The location is convenient to the city, if just outside the south wall -- this worked well for us. The immediate neighborhood of the B&B was not luxurious but it was quite safe and easy to negotiate.
Good location, outside the city walls but only 10 minutes walk away. Really comfortable and clean rooms. Very helpful owners.
The staff at this hotel were the most helpful I have ever experienced. They love their city of Lucca and want to share it with their guests. The breakfast was good. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The location was excellent- 5 minute walk to the gates and main street of Lucca. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Good sized room comfortable room, great breakfast in a really nicely laid out room. One of the best and most helpful welcomes we have ever had in Italy. This is a hotel where they really do try (successfully) to make your stay comfortable! The location is a good 10 mins walk from the "start" of the city centre (not a problem if fit) and the rather poor sound proofing between rooms - neither of which may bother most people.
Staff were extremely helpful.
The room was large (the bathroom also) and clean. The breakfast was simple, but all right. The owner was professional and very helpful.
When we made a reservation the check in was during 9:30 -20:00. We arrived at 13.30 and the affitacamere was closed. I telephoned the contact person who didn't understand what I was trying to explain. He just repeated at 4 o clock! We were very disapointed that the contact person didn't understand a thing and so we had to wait an extra 3 hours to get in.
The service was amazing! The location was perfect :o)
location was ok and internet worked fine for us. Really dirty floors. Shower handle broken. Extremely difficult to enter parking (very narrow entrance onto a well trafficked main road, problem even for a small car). Confused, unhelpful and uninterested staff who were rude when I politely asked for a recommendation for a restaurant. Hot room, noisy street and no AC. Very strange opening hours (no check in on Sundays or after 8pm).
The best thing was the location near Lucca city. And of course, near the best ice cream store in the world: La Bonta! They didn´t have our room that we booked when we arrived. They put us in a smaller room wíthout kichenett. After two days I told the staff that we wanted a trippelroom and we changed room. We discovered that kichenett included only two heatingspot. Not anything to cook with or eat with! Really bad!
best room, bathroom & breakfast. you can take lazzi bus near the hotel direct to piza.
Clean and modern hotel few kms from old centre of Lucca. Very convenient if you are with a car because there are parking facilities and it is close to the Autostrada.Good room and good breakfast
It's located on a main junction but you do not hear the road It has a very good variety in breakfast A card that is also the key to the room operates electricity If one of 2 persons is out with it the other in the room is left in the dark
great value for money. helpful staff. lovely rooms. outside the town walls but only a couple of minutes in a taxi.
The reception staff were excellent, the room was great and the breakfast was excellent. I found it difficult to find the hotel because the sign is difficult to read froma distance.
Excellent reception staff. Comfortable bed. Very poor breakfast. Thin ersatz juice; hot drinks from a machine; stale croissant. I understand that Italians are not very interested in breakfast but most of those having breakfast were Northern Europeans.Have a smaller choice of top quality food. No adult I know eats coco pops or. Having stale croissants is unforgivable. Satsumas are in season and excellent, why not offer those? One person went up and down the food area, I imagine desperately trying to find something tasty. She settled for a glass of water and a piece of fruit. The previous night we'd stayed in a B&B in Siena and they managed to serve an excellent breakfast. We got a knock down price for the room but had we paid the displayed prices we would have been very un
Easy to reach. Good parking facilities. Acceptable walking distance to city center. Some (acceptabel!!) noise from the nearby roads and the Mac Donalds drive in.
Very clean and comfortable rooms Very bad neighbor hood when u walk to downtown. I felt so lucky when I get to the hotel safely.
the price is perfect and the hotel is very nice , free parking , good breakfast
Location close to the city
We loved our stay at Hotel Carignano! The room was lovely and the staff were pleasant, meeting our every need. We loved the restaurant as it was charming with wonderful staff who spoke English. In fact the menu was in Italian, German and English! A real bonus when you have allergies. I wish we could have stayed longer to relax more and explore the lovely countryside and the town of Lucca. The swimming pool on the website does not look like the pool that is actually on site.
Breakfast was excellent, pool was a nice feature that needed to have the rest of the patio further developed. Inadequate provision of high chairs and cots for infants. One cot for the whole hotel and no high chairs.
Very good value, clean, comfortable.
It was a disappointment due to the fact that it did not match photos - a roadside location with very little Tuscan countryside. Restaurant also disappointed, walled in and did not match the culinary offerings of the area
restaraunt, setting, staff, great place overall - would go back definitely plug sockets for connecting electrical stuff not so good - too few and different sizes
Great service and breakfast. Noisless place and bedroom.
Good location for visiting the nearby towns and countryside - for Lucca you can take a bus nearby the hotel ( 08:20 a.m ) - rooms at the back with balcony and very quiet - good restaurant
The Manager and his staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. We didn't book half-board, however we had our evening meal in the restaurant attached to the hotel every night except one as the food was superb and again the staff were excellent.
Beautiful location just outside Lucca. We rode bikes and walked in the wonderful Tuscan country. The restaurant was a nice meeting place in the evenings. The breakfast was very nice with cereals, meats, cheese, croissants, yogurts, fresh fruit. There is a nice pool to dip into in the afternoon. The staff was very courteous and eager to help in any way.
The location in the countryside, friendly hotel reception staff and excellent breakfast. Location of the room: we were expecting a room with a view not a blank wall. Unprofessional manner in which a complaint was dealt with by the restaurant manager. Unwelcoming senior restaurant staff.
very pleasant. has a nice terrace for breakfast and just reading and relaxing.
- Very nice and newly renovated. Comfotable and everything works! - Very nice breakfast and eating it outside was nice too. - Easy to get to and easy access to Lucca. - Friendly helpful staff. - It would be nice if there was always someone to check you in, or to answer questions. but it never turned out to be a problem. - Directions seemed confusing, but we had a map and knew where we wanted to end up. - Lucca and train station are both easy to get to, but are further than the Hotel says they are.
The kind staff, short walk to Lucca city, the interior design. Nothing at all
The staff was especially considerate and helpful. I absentmindedly left my jacket in the room when I departed and Miriam was so exceptionally kind as to forward it for me to my next hotel! Thank you so much Miriam!
An excellent and very enjoyable stay. Owner was extremely helpful and friendly. Comfortable and very clean. hotel. Highly recommend it for overnight stay or a week + stay.
Mirium, the hotel manager was fantastic. She was really helpful and even helped us make reservations for dinner and helped us book a hotel in Siena. The room we had was more like a small flat! It felt very private. It was beautifully decorated, very comfortable and the bathroom was amazing! The remote controlled air conditioning in the room was brilliant. The terrace where we have breakfast was also nice. It was only a ten minute walk from the railway station and the city wall which was also very handy.
Clean, good shower, conveniently situated for station and city. Breakfast, although very nicely presented had to be organised the day before. This may not suit everyone and it was a bit on the expensive side.
design of rooms noise of the road near hotel
The quality of the accommodation was excellent and the hospitallity of both Miriam and Jesus could not have been better. They were always available to offer advice on the area and provide any help they could. The continental breakfast served on the terrace ( or in your room, if required) was excellent any any extra teas requested at any time of day was not a problem. Although it did not spoil our 6 night stay, the noise from the traffic may cause a problem for some, especially if you have a room at the front of the property.
The staff was extremely friendly, the city was easy to reach without car. Our room was very clean and for us it was a great advantage that there was a coputer available for booking our next hotel. We are recommanding the hotel for anyone who wants to visit Lucca !
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Possible to have a joke with them in our poor Italian! The rooms were attractive and the ambience was calming. A neighbour's dog which barked well into the night. This of course was not the hotel's fault. I just wonder whether other guests had a similar experience.
very close to old town, parking in front of hotel free and usually available, clean room...
good location for visiting Lucca town centre
The kindness of the staff and the opportunity to rent bikes Hardly anything to mention, however the bed was very hard
Extremely nice staff, very helpful. he hotel is just a very short walk from the ancient city walls. Parking is free and the pool area is nice to chill out. No dry white wine available (in Italy!), we've been bitten by insects, probably while sitting by the pool, breakfast could be better (like everywhere in Italy)
Staff were Fantastic,realy helpful!! No
It was central to where we needed to be The room was basic though clean and the shower screen was falling off. There was no restaurant in the hotel and it is a good 10 min walk to the town.
Staff Services & accommodations
Staff were great and the location was excellent for the city and facilities. Parking was easy. WiFi was not available in rooms as stated.
swimming pool, friendly staff
The B&B is newly renovated with new tiled floors throughout, rooms are spacious and the lcoation is perfect for exploring Lucca They could improve the WiFi network.
Very friendly and warm welcome, owner is extremely helpful in every way.
The manager, Luca, is very hospitable and extremely helpful. It is worth visiting for him alone. You really feel welcome.
Owner friendly and charming. Excellent breakfast.
Room and bathroom were very modern and clean. Breakfast was excellent for English and local guests. Luca, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. One of the best and cheapest hotels/B&B's I've stayed in. I would definitely recommend this B&B and would stay here again!!
The staff (particularly Luca) was extremely cordial and helpful and his English was very good. The location to the walled city of Lucca was very good and was pretty accessible to the autostrade. WiFi is not free, it was ¿3 per hour. Parking at the hotel was not free, it was ¿6 per day. Air conditioning had not been turned on yet in mid-May (but the room did cool down enough by bedtime and the street was quiet enough to leave the window open.)
the location was great. it was difficult to reach the hotel because it was in the middle of the centre but that was on the other hand an advantage
Friendly staff. Nice room. Liked it all.
All the staff were friendly and helpful, in particular Lulu is the most friendly, pleasant and helpful receptionist you could ever wish to meet.
Central location Access to the separate block needed to be obtained by one of the staff pressing a button behind desk, so might as well have had to collect a room key.
Excellent location, very nice staff uncomfortable beds
The central position in a city that we visit on every trip. The positive nature of the staff. Nothing
it's very convenient and the staff were very helpful both times I've stayed there, I've not been on the ground floor, and had a heavy bag, some help getting it up the stairs would have been appreciated
The central location was perfect for exploring Lucca and for shopping. Front of desk staff could have been more helpful - especially in relation to parking. I was left to struggle on my own to the garage.
Hotel la Luna was a great spot for our family vacation. The hotel is located in the heart of the city and was immaculate. The staff was helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to assist us with our needs.
Friendliness of staff Location on the main road, couldn't really have bedroom window open and hear yourself talk.
nimic, nimic , nimic, nimic , nimic, nimic , nimic, nimic , nimic, nimic , nimic, nimic , nimic, nimic , nimic,
Very friendly staff! It was very nice that we could use bikes (for free!) to go to the city center. Breakfast was ok. Clean, nice room. If you don't like the free bikes, it might be a bit unpleasant that the hotel is quite far from the city center. There are buses, but the bike tour is so much more fun!
small and friendly, good area
breakfast at their porch. far away from the city center. there is only few buses available. once 2 hours! the hotel locates at the heavy traffic intercention and it is very noisy. even closing the window, you can hear the noice during the night.
Il Ponte is a very simple but clean and comfortable hotel.
Large room with air con, well fitted bathroom, friendly owner.
A charming hotel and attentive and helpful host. Very atmospheric and quiet given it's proximity to the road. It was quite expensive cf to other similar hotels and it was hard to find.
Located at a fantastic beautifull river, nice nature and not so far from the city. The owner and his parents are the most kind people I have seen, we could use the bike and they even took us to the station, the day we left.
localisation nearby Lucca a main street noisy just behind windows, breakfast too late
parking and size of room restaurant service was slow. for dinner it took 1 hour for our food to arrive.
Nice location, calm, free parking, modern art The centre of Lucca is more than 5 km away and not just 3 km as indicated on the website. Breakfast was ok but could have been better. Esp. one day when a group travelling by bus stayed at the hotel breakfast was not sufficient and staff did not react appropriatly.
Good parking for those who are traveling by car, however far from Lucca (car needed). Very basic, but clean and large room. Air conditioning not working, mosquitos biting during the night, had to ask for a machine to avoid mosquitos (supplied by the hotel upon request). The pictures on the web site do not reflect reality, the bathroom is much simpler than shown (no tiles) and very very small shower area, however, it was clean. The vila is not as beautiful as the photos suggest. Could not close the window because A/C wasn't working, people used to gather for a chat during the night in front of reception (below the windows) a little anoing.
Good location. Breakfast service was very good. Staff, other than one daytime person, was very helpful and courtious. One gentleman at the desk was very unpleasant. Not sure, but I felt that he did not particularly enjoy having english speaking guests. Hotel description concerning spa and fitness resources is very misleading. Hotel desk staff basically indicted that they were not available on site, but could, maybe be found in town. Not convenient at all as we had hoped for.
I liked the art work displays on the hotel grounds The bed mattresses were extremely hard!
Nice modern hotel with friendly and helpfull english speaking staff. A good base for Lucca/Pisa area.
An exellent hotel a few kilometers outside Lucca, Clean spacius room for our family of 4. Add a pool and I would give 5 stars!
The Hotel is set in its own gardens which are pleasant and ensure a peaceful stay. Ample car parking. Reception staff were very helpful. Website states ths hotel is 1.5Km from Lucca: It is not! It is at least 5Km from the centre of Lucca and cannot be walked due to the main road that the hotel drive adjoins. There is a Restaurant next to the hotel, we tried it I'd suggest that you don't!
Location and environment There were mosquitoes in the restaurant outside the hotel.
Friendly personnel. Good for families
Pool is good but crowded Air conditioning goes off at night!!
Clean hotel, althuogh a bit out dated. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Free parking right in front of the hotel. Nice large swimmingpool (unfortunately it was closed in beginning October). Spacy bathrooms and also rooms are large enough. Airco does not work, but that can also be because it was october already. It would have been nice though, because it was still pretty warm. Breakfast is enough, but choice is a bit meager.
The staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful. The hotel building has seen better days. All rather down at heel which was surprising given the cost of the rooms.
Very attentive and helpfull staff and a pleasant atmosphere throughout all departments. Excellent food; dinner for two with a bottle of wine about 60 euros. Great pool staff. Some rooms shown to us on arrivals were very dated with musty smell but we were imediately moved to much nicer room with a balcony. No TV in English. No any form of entertainment in the evening.
I enjoyed the beautiful view offered by this villa nd the fact that it was quiet The heating system was a disaster. Only the bathroom and the halls were heated. I do not recommend thsi villa for automn and winter.
Fabulous location near wonderful Lucca and nearby Tuscan areas, including the coast, but in a beautiful, park-like setting with all the quiet, peacefulness and luxury of a country estate. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, very engaging. The accomodations, from our room to the bar in the afternoon, to breakfast each moerning, were flawless.
The hotel was wonderful...location , staff ..the overall facility was a real treasure . We used it as a base for 3 days and will return. Everything was good
We liked the location of the Villa, it wasn't too close to the busy towns and noisy roads and because we had a car, it was easy to reach Lucca and Pisa. The restaurant has a wonderful dinner menu, we enjoyed it so much, we decided to eat at the Villa both nights rather than going out for dinner.
Location, the building - an old and beautiful old villa -, the park around - huge and pleanty of plants, the pool, the furniture inside .... everything, except one. Good food for dinner but not so many to order, good selection of wines - try the rose one - excelent deserts like ice-creme (one of the best ever eaten) and the chocolate trilogy. And do not forget the Schropini ... or ... whatever ... a mix of votka, lemon, ice cream and mint ... hmmmm, excelent. Breakfast it is a disaster !!!... we stayed 12 days and we had the same breakfast each and every day. No vegetables at all, no fresh cheese, the fruits not so fresh, take care on some aliments like packed pecorino cheese or pinaple compot which were almost not recommendable to be served. Ordinary round pie / cakes bought from supermarket ... everythink packed like an ordinar 2 stars tranzit hotel. Definetly the breakfast is not in line with the status of location. Oh, do not forget, I would not reccomend to anybody even to try once the scrumbled eggs prepared each and every day!
In the two weeks we spent in italy, this Hotel was the best! The charm and luxury of this hotel will bring us back. Wonderful breakfast!
We were warmly welcomed by staff and management on our arrival, and from that day on, until our departure, service at all times (1.30pm on one occasion) was excellent - at Reception, in the Restaurant, by the Pool, on the Terrace or in the Drawing Room/Lounge (a really spacious beautiful room), there was always an attentive and considerate member of the hotel's team we could call on. It was not our first visit to Tuscany but our first to Lucca and the Puccini Festival, and Villa La Principessa was just a great place for us and contributed hugely to a truly memorable visit. We would certainly stay there again on any future visit to Lucca.
The restaurant was great and they were very friendly. We had a brilliant evening meal at a great price. Tried some new food. The hotel owner was very helpful and gave us tips. Location was great, not far from Lucca very pretty. Easy to find.
God restaurant. Friendly staff
The resturant is good. Noice from the road.
We loved the beautiful Tuscan view out of our window and the area in general. The room was comfortable and the attached restaurant was very good for dinner. The breakfast which was included in the price was pretty good. As this hotel was located on a secondary road between Pisa and Lucca, we had difficulty returning each day from both cities.
The staff was very kind and helpful, it was like staying with family. The rooms were very nice and especially very clean. The restaurant was very good as well. The hotel is in a perfect position which allowed us to travel as much as we wanted. Nothing at all.
Nice small hotel with a wonderfull view at the backside. It was a bit noisy the night I stayed
The location was excellent for trips to Lucca and Pisa. Staff helpful and friendly. Our room was above the kitchen which made it a little noisy until the kitchen closed.
Friendly staff. a Hotel where you get what you expect. Excellent restaurant next door. Can't think of any
Comfortable and pleasant. In countryside. Friendly staff. No tea and coffee in room. Restaurant were a seperate organisation and one had to pay separately for meals. Only one rather flat pillow supplied per person. There should be two and it took too long to get them. No tea and coffee available to make in rooms. No english channel on the tv
I found the staff to be very hospitable, and almost felt like a member of the family. Breakfast was plentiful and well-served. The plumbing was a bit rudimentary.
Our room was spacious and pleasantly decorated, with little noise, either from outside or from the other rooms. The en-suite was large and the shower worked well.
Was very well located in the centre, small breakfast room however service good and it was good being picked up from the train station It would have been good to have an English channel on the TV and airconditioning as we were in 35 plus degrees
Lovely family, very friendly and helpful. Everything great but it would have been even better with a kettle in our room.
the people ...particularly breakfast staff !! Shared toilets need upgrading,
Owner/staff nice people, breakfast (service) more than OK ...our stay was too short......
Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.
Great location with loads of charm and character and freindly helpful staff.
La Torre had a nice quiet but central location. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and offer to ferry people to and from the station. This is important because of the pedestrianisation of the city centre. Steep stairs! But this is understandable given the medieval nature of Lucca.
Friendly b&b, breakfast good No english spoken made communicating difficult
People were very nice. The place charming, clean and nice location
Loved the actual building, a converted former villa with fabulous pool, grounds, parking and driveway. Host Mario was also very helpful. Restaurant was not functional despite requested reservations. Seemed to be a staffing problem. Needed vehicle to get to town and alternative restaurants.
Very nice and familiar hotel in a traditional style - a real Tuscan villa - with very lovely furnished rooms and common spaces. The rooms and the whole hotel were very clean and inviting. Our room was more a suite than a room and offered a picturesque view over the surrounding hills. Also the staff was very kind and helpful (espacially "Alex"). The breakfast was very good for an italian breakfast - unfortunally the restaurant seems to be opened only in summer.
Good Internet. From the road it looked okay but once inside the Villa and our room it definitely was very tired looking and there was an overwhelming smell of mould and musk. The bed springs were coming thru the mattress, overall a poor experience.
Please write at least 15 words
Good quality-price ratio Bad smell in the room for the whole stay (carpet?)
Location Air conditioning did not work, internet non existant, restaurant closed unannounced.
Good Breakfast Wi Fi not working and room was looking tired, lack of proper air conditioning
The staff could not do enough for us - they were exceptionally helpful The air conditioning in our room did not work and the lift was not in great working order
The friendliness of all the staff. We were looking for relatives and the desk clerk was helpful & sent us to Barga to his friend who recognized the relative we were lookinfg for. No
The restaurant was very good
restaurant food excellent standard and value weak shower
Restaurant Position - sutable for only an overnight stop
Extremely helpful and courteous staff, comfortable rooms, good amenities satisfying breakfasts Might be considered as inconvenient since it is located somewhat outside of Lucca. We found it an advantage.
Cleanliness of the hotel, big rooms and excellent hotel staff
