9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location was great. Beautiful touches Good wifi Free mangos Friendly staff
Cons: Squeaky/noisy bed. I think this is being oiled.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location away from center and right by the river. Lovely porch to hang at, amazing kitchen to cook in with sharp knives and good pots! Loved the yoga spot and fire pit area. The place feels more like a house than a hostal. Simon is always willing to help and has a lovely spot for sunset. Highly recommend this place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfortable. Spacious area with a lot of activities around the hostel it self. Very close to minca.
Cons: Only downside I have for this hostel are the stray cats that tend to be around and inside the hostel. The owner clearly said to kick them out when you see them, so that is a good thing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owner, Simon was extremely nice, helpful and full of information. He helped us with everything we needed and went above and beyond. The location is great. Not in the city so you can enjoy the nature but a short 3 min walk. And finally it was the BEST shower I had in Colombia:)
Cons: The room is a bit moldy (perhaps it’s because we’re in the rainy season). And the bed wasn’t really comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was amazing. Very clean rooms. It looked really cute. Just a short walk from the centre of minca. It was near the river where you could swim. The owner gave loads of tips about the area. Very nice vibe in the hostel.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Its a 5min walk from the center within a beautiful scenery (river down the stairs, in the middle of the forest). The Swiss owners are very friendly, helpful (even printed my boarding ticket) and give a lot of recomandations what to do. The finca feels more like a nice Air BnB. I ve never seen such a clean hostal. Best kitchen so far on my trip with everything you need (even an oven!). The dorm is great, towel is included (even seperates ones to use at the river). Bed and pillow very comfortable. Individual van for each bed. Lockers with plugs to charge phones etc. Nice terrace with hammocks as well. Yoga and BBQ place and sunset spot available as well. This hostel is a diamant. I would come back every time, well done!
Cons: There is nothing I didnt like. Big compliment to the owners!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was great. Really nice deck with hamocks
Cons: Maybe some way to dry things? It was rainy season and nothing dries

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff are just lovely, so friendly. They brought us snacks both afternoons and when I got sick they looked after me, gave me medication and cooked up a lovely soup for me (remembering I am vegetarian) So kind and just what I needed being so far from home. The place is spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and hammocks and lovely breakfast. One of the beat hostels either my partner or I have stayed in. Thank you!
Cons: Loved everything except the showers could be slightly more powerful but really wasn’t a problem and I assume it’s maybe common in the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every surface was clean enough to eat off of. Well not really but they are constantly cleaning and you can tell. Very friendly and accommodating staff. They brought us popcorn and juice randomly which was an unexpected pleasure. They made sure if we wanted breakfast that we didn't miss it. I would stay again.
Cons: They had numerous signs listing fines for seemingly benign actions. A fine for touching the fridge with wet hands was a first.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hostel was so lovely right in the centre of Minca. Great value for money and was super clean. Staff were so friendly and helpful. They even looked after us when we were sick from somewhere we had eaten earlier in the day. Would defo go again
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved our stay here. 80m walk from the shuttle, great location. The triple private room with bathroom was clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were more than accommodating and helpful. Breakfast for 5000COP was different each morning and delicious. They gave us welcome cafe and daily afternoon snacks. Also provided a map and information on what to do in the are. Highly recommend! Thank you
Cons: Nothing, I wish we booked another night more.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is amazing. Never seen so careful staff around guests in a hostel, it felt home. Comfy dorm and bed, nice areas where to relax, read a book, drink a few beers. They even make the beds, never seen that before in a hostel. Good position (Minca is rather small anyways). Price super honest especially considering what you are getting, I think this was the best hostel of my trip this year.
Cons: Nothing, was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful little hostel with the nicest people, got a snack at arrival. They give you lots of information and are always ready to help.
Cons: Weird breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was one of the nicest hostels I've stayed in during my trip, the staff were all so welcoming and helpful from the beginning of my stay when they thorough explained the most popular activities in minca on my arrival. One guy in particular who's name I can't remember was so friendly and always looking to help. Although I never tried the breakfast I was always given coffee in the morning, the breakfast for 5 mil looked tasty and great value for money. The popcorn and juce on arrival and each afternoon of my stay was also such a nice touch. Its great value for money and ideal location a few mins walk from the bus and small town of minca. Its also probably the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed In Good WiFi too

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were super friendly, it was still stunning despite the building works. The pool should now be finished which will make it 100x better! The hot showers are amazing! Especially on the evening when it gets dark and it cools down a bit.
Cons: At the time they were building the infinity pool which was a shame due to all the noise and the impact it had on the scenery - advance notice of the building works would have been appreciated or a discount for having to put up with it. The bar shuts very early at like 10pm, would be nicer if it stayed up later as many people were disappointed every night when it closed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The environment was amazing! The food was good, the staff always were willing to help and make us feel comfortable. The private room was clean. There is a 4X4 that can take you to santa marta when you want to leave in a very fair price.
Cons: A little bit expensive but worth it!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view The food When the swimming pool will be finished it will be even better
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hot showers with a view! Comfortable beds Delicious food for breakfast lunch and dinner Bring snacks though. All activities available are affordable and massage on site too! The views everywhere are stunning They are building an infinity pool to be ready in time for summer! That will be fantastic. Yoga every morning! There's even Hostel pets around both dogs and cats that are super friendly and chilled. Staff are friendly :) Definitely will return here and recommend to everyone!
Cons: Nothing. everything was amazing!
6.7 Good
Pros: Beautiful location, staff were all really helpful and lovely. We had an issue with our double room as there seemed to be an ant infestation - the staff helped and moved us to a bigger nicer room for no extra charge. This was appreciated. Food was really nice, especially breakfast. Nice location to simply relax and do nothing.
Cons: Disappointed at the end of the stay. Booked a jeep to take us to our next hotel in Santa Marta. Made this quite clear when booking. We were then left on a random street in Santa Marta and told the hotel was too far and to get a taxi. Was incredibly irritated at this and still had to pay the driver despite him stranding us. On top of this when we arrived at our hotel and received WiFi I had received a WhatsApp from one of the staff.. very strange and made me feel uncomfortable that my number had clearly been shared and was not private. Unprofessional and inappropriate. Really ruined my stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a very pleasant hike to the hostel with many beautiful views on the way and also with an amazing and well deserved rest on the too of the hill. The hotel is cozy and the meal is just on a restaurant level! Many resting facilities to relax and enjoy the views. The hotel offers many activities as well. Great view from the bathroom and a hot shower!!! :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view, the room, the atmosphere!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Casas viejas is laying quite remotely which makes you part of the amazing nature around Minca. Atmosphere is very good, lot's of interaction between people and nice activities. Food is delicious! Definitely recomend to stay here, although Minca is quite far away and you wouldn't go easily for dinner, drinks of a tour to Minca.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hostel is extraordinary - great panorama, excellent food, friendly atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommended!
Cons: It's quite challenging to get there. However worth the effort :)

Pros: They make me feel like home. It is a place where you could rest and connect with yourself, you will appreciate the beauty of the nature and it immense
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The proximity to nature. Amazing views. Staff were fantastic and the social aspect - communal meals etc - was a huge draw.
Cons: It is a little far (30 minute uphill tough hike) from Minca town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely incredible location, lovely team who are more than happy to advise on walks and activities in and around the lodge and down in Minca, really amazing vegetarian food. Love the eco & self sustaining principles and the ethical design, every detail has been thought out, loved the views from the showers. This place is 100% worth the walk up the hill and I would 100% stay again, I booked 1 night and ended up staying 4.
Cons: It would be amazing if the hostel offered some sort of shuttle say twice a day to take guests back up to the lodge but I appreciate that this may go against the eco principles. We walked up the hill from Minca a few times (which takes about 1 hour) simply to avoid paying the 20k for a Moto Taxi, guests should be made aware that this is how much it costs to get up the hill from Minca... Although as I have said the journey up the hill is totally worth it
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Food was fresh and plenty, location is good for exploring the area, the view is great!
Cons: Could have been a little cosier: As it rains nearly every afternoon during rainy season, the common area is a little bit cold and windy. Would have been nice if there was a common space which was inside.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: + the history and project of the lodge + the view and remote location + great vegetarian food + the activities and hikes proposed by the lodge + the staff is super friendly and helpful
Cons: - cold showers - access is a bit difficult when it’s raining
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The views from Mundo Nuevo are spectacular and the staff were very friendly. The food was also delicious with vegan options provided without any hassle. Very friendly cats and dogs also.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the most perfect beautiful location, wonderful people, both conscientious and attentive.
Cons: you could not improve this.
7.1 Good
Cons: Difficult access. We shortened our stay in Minca as we found there was not so much to do there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: MOST AMAZING VIEW The food is delicious The common area is very nice, with the view, some games and the bar. The hamacs are super comfortable with pillows and blankets. Finally, toilets have an amazing view (go down of the hotel to find it :))

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, with a pool overlooking the mountains.. free tour with the family, they went out of their way to make sure I was happy, amazing hospitality, I felt like family.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay at the finca! Fantastic location, staff and owners were lovely, went for some wonderful hikes and swam in the local waterfalls. Super relaxing and homely!! Would definitely recommend staying here!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was phenomenal. Everyone, from the owners and workers, made us feel right at home. Its an experience walking up (30min walking) to the Finca, or motorbike (you'll have to pay for one in Minca), and have the great view of the mountains and nature. You can't beat all you can drink organic coffee and cocoa at anytime of the day. You meet people from all over the place and it's like a big extended family vibe to it. They offer coffee and cacao tours (highly recommend it). Special shout out to our new Irish friend Niall, whom works at the Finca as the cook, tour guide and drinking buddy. If you have a chance to do the tour I would do it with him. His knowledge of the process is astounding and his humor makes the whole thing enjoyable. Overall I have nothing but great things to say about this place, the owners, and everyone that is involved because it truly is an amazing place and I would love to come back soon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super clean room and such a nice personal! Really enjoyed our stay there. We booked room deluxe and was so nice. You can do the tour around the farm in english. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. Highly recommended if you travel to Minca.
7.1 Good
Pros: Although it’s far from town with a dirt bumpy road in between, it got a nice view of Minca that I could enjoy it from the hammock. The dinner was not that good compared to the price, the breakfast is a lil bit disappointing as well. Lots of mosquitos in the area but luckily there’s none in the room so we had a good night sleeping there. The bathroom was clean with high pressure shower but the shower head was kinda broken and water just went every directions, so the shower was not that good. Anyway, the staffs were nice, and overall, I really enjoy my stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The "finca" is owned by a Swiss couple, so the place is in good hands. The welcoming Colombian stuff and a German young student doing her practicum here made it feel cozy. It was as staying at grandpa's house. It's a bit of walk to get there. But then you sleep in real nature. Nice prepared beds. Colibri flying around. Foggy mountains. Very quite. Would stay longer. It's not 5 star hotel but the price for the night is also low. You can ask for a coffee/cacao tour. And serve yourself cacao or coffee any time at the table.
Cons: N/a
9.6 Excellent
Pros: 10 minutes away in moto taxi from Minca and here we are, in this wonderful finca. We watched birds, had an exciting and instructive guided tour with Niall, tasted their incredible coffee and cacao, enjoyed a walk to the mirador. The staff is friendly and the owners did everything for us to have a great time. Thank you for this amazing place.
Cons: It is necessary to have an extra blanket during the cold nights.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Extremely welcoming staff, it immediately felt like home. The view is outstanding, the 30 minutes walk to the hostel from the town of Minca is beautiful. It is at the end of the road so no trespassing motorbikes like on other roads. I can recommend the coffee and cacao tour.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I really enjoyed my stay in this ideallic hostel. Although it’s a short walk to town it’s less than 10 minutes and the location means you feel you are in the forest and there’s always the sound of the rushing river Great breakfast with delicious pancakes and good coffee. Loved having breakfast outside and watching the hummingbirds Staff are friendly and speak English. The dorms are comfortable and there’s a locked cabinet for each guest.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hostel is really nice and the stuff helpful. It's a beautiful place to stay and I can really recommend it .
Cons: The problem was that we had dinner the first night in the hostal. One hour later my girlfriend felt sick and I got it the next day. We both were sick for two days and we are sure it was from the food. Do not eat there!
6.7 Good
Pros: Lovely, helpful staff and great breakfast. The property itself is really nice with lots of games for guests and a great onsite restaurant/bar which serves great (and cheap!) food.
Cons: However, the dorm rooms were possibly the worst we have stayed in. They were mouldy, stunk of damp and even the sheets smelt. There was also a leak in our ceiling (which is just a piece of tarp). The shared bathrooms were not clean and also mouldy. We did see into one of the private rooms and it looked great, so definitely recommend one of those instead.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hostel in a remote place. From the balcony you had a very nice mountain view and there is a river just underneath. There is also a very nice pool. The stuff is friendly and very helpful and the facilities are very nice.
Cons: It is quite far from the center, but that is ok, if you don't want to be in town. Apart from that everything was ok. I would go there again.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hostel in an idyllic setting, great views and very peaceful. It lives up to it's name with lots of hammocks for guests to relax in and watch the plethora of hummingbirds whizzing around - beautiful! The breakfast every morning was delightful and it is just a short walk into town where there are plenty of great dining options. We stayed in a dorm and the beds were really comfortable and there was plenty of space to store your items in. The hostel will arrange all trips for you, the chocolate tour at Candelaria is well worth a trip.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice environment and very pleasant staff . Good breakfast
Cons: Unless you are traveling lightly it’s a rocky uphill trail that necessitates the use of motortaxi
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and accommodating staff. The hostel is clean. Food is good and reasonably priced. Nice view from the balcony. Lots of areas to chill out but the rain can limit your options. The included breakfast is good (eggs, pancakes, and fruit) with unlimited coffee all day long.
Cons: Dorm room has a tarp ceiling which due to the almost constant rain collects water. The tarp sags in places because of this, and the worst was right over the lockers which is where I kept my valuables. Seems like an accident waiting to happen. The lockers themselves were on the smaller side, but everything still fit including my 15.6" laptop. The dorm walls are thin and is located right next to the kitchen and common area so bring ear plugs and an eye mask.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place, stayed 11 days but booked a further extended stay. Staff lovely, young, friendly, super inviting. Manageress personally offered mr different breakfasts. Think I got bitten and had mild fever few days, but staff extremely sympathetic. Middies n mosquitos bad.....take repellent! Evening meal chef makes amazing margarita pizzas with home made everything!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really comfortable rooms with nice terrace and view on the mountains. Ideal to (Netflix and) chill out after some hiking in Minca! Great place!
Overview Reviews
You'll be centrally located in Ciénaga with a stay at Casa D´Remedios La Bella Boutique Hotel, and 1 minutes by foot from Magdalena River. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is immaculate and colorful, inspired by the book 100 Years of Solitude, very Instagram worthy. Rooms were comfortable and staff (Alexandra!) was super helpful for all our questions. Location is central and safe, just 1-2 blocks from the main plaza, close to restaurants and walking distance to the historical sites and beach. Air conditioning in the room was strong and needed after walking around in the Cienaga heat. Wish we could have stayed longer. The mirador had a great view of the city, ocean and mountains and caught a nice breeze. It looks like they were building a jacuzzi/hot tub on the rooftop and may be adding some tables and chairs also to that area. Both will be great when it's done for the evenings.
Cons: We had a room on the ground floor that opens directly into the courtyard and the doors weren't soundproof - was pretty noisy with other guests right outside having breakfast in the morning. Earplugs helped, but having a room on the second floor would have been better.
Hotel Playa Verde Cienaga - Ciénaga - Bedroom

8.8 Excellent (83 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Hotel Playa Verde Cienaga in Ciénaga, you'll be steps from Magdalena River. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Close to the beach, but not to many restaurants or decent shops. However, the staff were extremely helpful & had takeaway menus on hand. The room was comfy, clean & cool
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Just 50 m from the beach in a quiet and seemingly safe neighbourhood. The place is an unpolished marvel and has a roof-top terasse, where you may spend your mornings watching the fishermen heading out or the afternoon sunset or the many birds in the trees in front of you throughout the day at your preference. Walk a couple of hundred meters at lunch time and you will be able to enjoy the catch-of-the-day under the palms at a very reasonable price. The hotel owners are extremely helpful all the way through.
Cons: ...that we had to leave
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great friendly owners. Gave me a ride to the bus terminal in the morning. Especially liked the roof-top terrace.
7.1 Good
Pros: Brand new hotel - everything clean and tidy. The two young men who greeted me were very friendly and helpful
Cons: It was very difficult to get food as there were no restaurants nearby the hotel. Might have been easier if breakfast was an option. The area around the hotel was far below the standard you would expect in such a nice new hotel and the general vicinity wasn’t as clean as you would expect it to be. I feel that this is a mice hotel very near the sea, but in the wrong location.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The personal is really nice and helpful, room comfortable, we even decided to prolong for 1 night and take a good rest from the heat.
7.5 Good
Pros: very clean. secure parking. great staff.
Cons: breakfast expensive. difficult to find without local help.
6.3 Good
Pros: Comfortable room. Newer hotel so it's still fairly clean.
Cons: it is not on the beach as their advertising states. it is a block behind- close but it's not right on the beach. wifi is iffy but i suspect that is throughout the town. do not ask the staff to arrange any type of tour or transportation for you- nightmare!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean hotel Very helpful staff Didn't buy breakfast but got coffee for free in the morning Owner even gave me a free ride to the bus stop and helped me get a good price for the ticket Room with strong air condition and even tv Nice roof terrace 50 meters from the beach Probably best deal in town Would highly recommend!!!
Cons: Everything was fine
Hostal Casa Loma Minca - Minca - Bedroom
9
8.7 Excellent (89 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Casa Loma Minca in Santa Marta, you'll be convenient to Blue Well and Marinka Waterfalls. Featured amenities include luggage storage, a library, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!! There is no better place to stay in Minca, definitely. Nice staff and really really good vibe. Best place to view the sunset, good cocktails, nice food. They can help you with information about the hikes, etcetera. Last but not least they have awesome bungalows watching the jungle/mountains which gives you the ultimate nature feeling.
Cons: Nothing really, would be great to have your own warm shower and bathroom but sharing this also added to the jungle adventure. Good to know is that you have to hike quite a few steps (with backpack for minimum 10 minutes) before you get here, you will not arrive without any sweat that’s for sure. Place is way better than casa Elemento so be sure to go here.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Nice view!
Cons: Disgusting bathrooms and only cold water. 10% additional charge when paying by credit card and there’s no atm in town. No WiFi, so it’s difficult to plan your trip.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This property it really beautiful. We stayed in one of the huts and it was almost like glamping. The food is truly spectacular and maybe worth the trek up even if you are not staying here.
Cons: It's shockingly noisy considering how far outside town it is, but considering the noise comes from town itself, I'm not sure there is any way to avoid that anywhere in Minca. Also, the hike up is no joke. If you can't hike uphill or you have big bags, this is not the place for you to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great place with wonderful panorama, welcoming owners and really helpful staff. Also, the food at the hostel is extraordinary!
Cons: No negatives
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location over the mountain village of Minca. Great sunset experience in a tree house style hostel. Very delicious cocktails and most delicious vegetarian food for an excellence price.
6.3 Good
Pros: Great views, amazing vegetarian food, nice staff.
Cons: I think people should be aware that if you book a ‘room’ it’s actually a hut with no door or electricity - just a bed with a mosquito net and a fence (also with no door so anyone can walk in). Also there is no hot water and you need to be prepared to climb up a mini mountain with all your luggage for about 20 minutes. It’s a great backpacker option but I wouldn’t stay there if you want anything more than a rustic camping style stay. GREAT views and good though.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The view was amazing
Cons: The bed was full of bugs and it stinks.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is incredible, absolutely stunning, unique, gorgeous, unbelievable!!! Wow!!!
Cons: I think the shared bathrooms could be a bit cleaner

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The couple who run the place are nice and kind. Though the place is far from the main town, it makes up for it with breath taking views. I lived the walks to town and to pozo Azul.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The young couple, José and Katarina were wonderful hosts. Extremely helpful with directions and teaching me some Spanish! Friendly and warm, and made me feel at home. Katarina keeps the place spotless and served me whatever I wanted for breakfast. The private path to the river is à definite bonus--very quiet and peaceful! The hostel is only minutes away to the path down to Pozo Azul, from there it's about a 25 minute walk down to the falls and swimming area!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was a nice size with a working bathroom. I also enjoyed the fruit with breakfast. The hosts did their best to communicate with me when I had questions. The rooms were cleaned regularly and the location is away from town closer to nature. The hosts were worried about me when I left to hike cerro kennedy because I did not come back that night--they tried to contact me to make sure I was ok. This was very kind of them. I also met the son's daughter Nicola, she was very sweet :)
Cons: There was no screen on the window so cicadas kept entering my room at night if I had the light on. Also, there was construction happening right next door while I was there (it never woke me in the morning or evening etc but I didn't feel like I could enjoy the outside area. I had limited interactions with the host family because I am not fluent in Spanish. They only gave me information if I asked for something (but this may be because of the language barrier). Nothing about what to do in the area etc (but again, I did not ask). I had to ask what time breakfast was or if I could flush paper in the toilet (it's worth posting in the room somewhere--perhaps where they posted other rules for accommodation). Anyway, I think you will have better interactions with the hosts if you are fluent in Spanish. They were very nice and did their best to answer the specific questions that I asked, it's just that I didn't always know what to ask since I was new to the area.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed 3 nights at hotel Alto de Montana. It is a family run hotel, 1.7 km outside Minca village. Is is also a restaurant. We stayed at the (clean) suite, a spacious room with a large balcony facing the mountains.. We had a great time. Our hosts did everything to make us feel at home. The view of the forested mountains was great and you could see many birds from close distance (tucans, hummingsbirds). You can also walk to the river and a swimming pool in the river. If we come back to Minca, we Will choose this hotel again
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This was so far the best room I had since im in Colombia, especially for this price and the view. The bed is very comfortable, the room is spacious and Internet works fine. It was very quiet in the night, this made me sleep so good. Breakfast is simple but great.
Cons: Staff could be little bit more smiling and be more motivated. It is not much choice to eat around the hostel but to minca town is about 20-25 minutes walk.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have a great experience in The Hostel. The views are impressive. The sounds of the nature are magic. The near river has a waterfalls where you can stay alone in the middle of the Jungle. The hostel is very nice and the owner is very friendly. Always trying to help and very pleasant. The food from the kitchen is very good. Love the hotel Alto we Montaña.
Cons: The road to arrive to the hotel is still not finished, but the owner told us they plan to finish in December 2019. But no much problem. Is part of the adventure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff & breakfast
6.7 Good
Pros: The view over the mountain was beautiful! Rooms are very basic but not bad.
Cons: It was far from town (although we knew this before) and at night (well, at 6.30pm) it was hard to find any open restaurants or food places around. Some more chill out places/area would've been nice.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a relatively new hotel run by a very nice family. You can tell that the owners really care about doing a good job and they will go the extra mile to make their guests comfortable. It is probably the cleanest hotel I stayed at in Colombia. The hotel is about a 30 min walk from the town of Minca. This could be a positive or negative depending on your preferences. I liked the location as it was close to Pozo Azul and wasn't too far from town.
Cons: There are quite a few stray dogs in the area that bark all night. This isn't really a problem specific to this hotel but more of an issue affecting Minca. Tourism to Minca would be greatly improved if the town took care of its stray dog problem.

6.3 Good
Pros: Nara and Carlos were very very kind and helpful. They helped us a lot and handled the situation
Cons: We ordered the isolated room, which is air conditioned and has an hammock. The room is basically kind of a caravan made of wood and gypsum. The shower was cold as they had a problem with the gas powered heater. The second day we came back after hiking the area and found our door room opened .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is great- it´s in an amazing garden, but still not too far from the centre of the village and all the restaurants. We got a free upgrade to a suite and we loved it, I would defintely book a suite next time, it´s totally worth it. We also loved the small pool in the garten that is filled with fresh cold river water- such a good refreshment. Breakfast is also excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, tranquil surroundings of lush rainforest; balcony; stylish room; varied breakfast selection; birdwatching trip organised with Minca Birding.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location- if you are a nature lover stay here you will be in heaven. Lovely balcony rooms and everything high quality. Great breakfasts and lovely helpful staff
Cons: Hot water pressure was poor and the toilet didn’t always flush easily
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff was great, bed was comfortable
Cons: The sheets and the towels were dirty. Room was not clean. The way to get there is pretty difficult with luggage and not sympathetic at night to town
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff are very friendly.
Cons: The only downside is that the faucet in the bathroom is extremely powerful so my wife and I got splashed every time we used it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved it here!!!! View was amazing, room was clean, comfy bed. Loved hanging out in the hammock, the guys here got us food delivered on our first night as we were tired from travel, breakfast was great, this place is basically heaven on earth, I wish we could have stayed longer!!! All of the staff are lovely, WiFi excellent everything you could want
Cons: We loved this place, the only negitive is one side of the shower door was broken but ultimately this was not a big issue.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: BEAUTIFUL cabin and view. Lovely staff with a great level of English if you need it. Breakfast was good. It is only a short, safe walk into town. Very comfortable bed and great daily housekeeping. We loved our stay here.
Cons: No hot water was a real shame, as it does get cold at night in Minca.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are beautifully nestled in the middle of a jungle on a mountain so the view is incredible. You feel like you have the entire place to yourself and everything is quite clean. The staff are helpful and courteous and their English is very good, especially for the region.
Cons: 1. The restaurant isn't always open when it says it will be open. It's understandable because it is not very busy so sometimes they shut their doors but it makes planning difficult. When it is open, it's good food at a great price with an amazing view and friendly staff! 2. The Wifi doesn't reach the rooms very well. Having said that, the view is so good you don't even need wifi! 3. ECOHABS, PLEASE READ THIS!!! We asked them to book us a taxi to get back to Santa Marta. The taxi that showed up had a massive sticker/decal of a lion covering half of his front windshield. This was not a transparent decal, you could not see through it at all (I've never seen anything like this, I couldn't believe it! You could barely see anything in front of you). He then proceeded to drive very fast in the middle of a rainstorm down the mountain roads while he texted on two separate phones. This is the only major complaint I had about the place. It was incredibly dangerous and this man should never be recommended ever again.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The birds singing at night or in the morning (before the trucks and cars start to pass).
Cons: So noisy early in the morning because you are next to the big road to Santa Marta!!! Breakfasts could be a super location if not from all the cars and trucks passing by. A half slice of bread with your eggs at breakfasts??? Really??? You better hope you don't have any neighbours when taking a double room, because you will hear everything they say and recta versa. Price/Quality I give it a zero.
6.7 Good
Pros: Beautiful views towards Santa Marta. Nice breakfast. Friendly personnel.
Cons: The building quality was somewhat disappointing compared to the pictures. The eco hotel feel felt halfway done with lots of concrete, single use plastic etc in use. Not up to the standards of similar style accommodation around Santa Marta and in Minca. Hotel location on the map at booking.com is wrong. It is much closer to the main road to Santa Marta. Beware of poor sound proofing between double rooms. This is applicable for the double room option. Experience may be different for the ecohabs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing view from the room, clean and comfortable room. Overall experience of ecohabs. Hammocks with the view. Cleaning everyday by housekeeping.
Cons: Breakfast could be better. The restaurant attached to property is average. People working there seem nice but the quality of food is below standard for how great the property is. We had a dinner there one night and was a disappointment. Apart from the food part the whole stay is absolutely wonderful
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was built with bamboo and most items in it looked locally sourced. There was a lovely balcony with hammock and we loved hearing the birds chirping and nature sounds around us.
Cons: The continental breakfast was ok. We expected more options and more buffet style with tastier coffee. The fruit and arepas during breakfast were delicious though.
6.7 Good
Pros: Panoramic view and birds sounds.
Cons: Bed was terrible- uncofortable mattress, bended in the middle and cracking everytime you move. There is a main roud down down the hill and its noisy in the morning. Traffic sound starts together with birds every early morning. Breakfast was so so..
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We were greeted very warmly and professionally by Andrea on our first day. She made sure we were comfortable and aware of everything we needed to know about the ecohabs and that we were in good hands. She took her time answering all our questions and was enthusiastic. Even though she's done it a bunch of times she honored our excitement and awe over the beauty. Frank was helpful in providing solid information about how to navigate the local sights, waterfalls, etc. Make sure to speak with him for local intel on what and where to do in Minca. Franklin, his able cohort, was kind and gracious about making sure our visit was a great one. Staff were friendly, unpretentious and eager to share their wonderful town and facility. Some of the maintenance/facility staff seemed cold or not aware that they're part of the customer service experience. You can't go wrong staying here. It's close to town, all the activities are easily accessible and the ecohab huts are amazing and fun, fun, fun , fun. The highlight is walking to breakfast each morning along the trail thru the woods.
Cons: Only three things but important to contributing to a good stay here; 1) The restaurant we had breakfast has a stunning view and vibe over the forest canopy. However, the owner blasted the TV every time we were there to eat. Ruined the vibe of calm and connecting to the lush environment which is the very reason anyone would go to this place. We asked him to turn it down and he was cool about it but not enough to remember to consider why his guests are there. Please eliminate or turn down the TV. The guests don't care to hear/see a TV. Trust me. We asked. 2) The coffee pot in the reception area never had coffee in it regardless of day or hour. Bummer when the coffee in your room is instant coffee. Remember, we're in Colombia. Decent coffee access would seem obvious. 3) Some of the maintenance/facility staff seemed cold or not aware that they're part of the customer service experience. Talk to them to let them know it's a total team effort and they're work as as important as the front facing staff. Clearly everyone works hard to make the place in the middle of the forest amazing
7.5 Good
Pros: We had to book very last minute because of problems with a different hotel, but there was space and a decent view of the mountains from our room. Cute little dog and kitten walking around, which I loved. The staff were friendly and helpful! Can’t complain about anything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and super relaxed atmosphere
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located in the columbian mountains so you are roughing it a little. That said you have electricity, shower (not particularly warm though), plumbed toilet, and mini refrigerator. the best part was the hammocks on the balcony that looked over the valley. Perfect for watching a sunset. The bungalow itself was 2 stories and plenty spacious for two adults. If you stay there I highly recommend cashing in on the free breakfast. They serve it at the main reception building and you get to sit outside and see all the amazing birds perched in the nearby trees. Lastly, the owners were great. They were extremely helpful with getting us to and from the airports, very responsive to my emails leading up to the trip, and had great suggestions for sites to see while there. All in all, a great place that I would highly recommend!
Cons: WiFi was out when we were there.

3.3 Mediocre
Pros: This hostel was below average. Room was tiny, the window wasn't covered so mosquitos came in and we got eaten alive. It's good for a quick 1 night stay but that's even pushing it.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Clean room
Cons: Very uncomfortable bed which fell apart, mosquitonet came off the ceiling, shower very basic
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly, the bed was really comfortable and the room was clean. Great location over the road from where the collectivo drops you off. Central but not too noisy, we slept great every night. Wi-Fi worked well in the room and the hammocks on the balcony were a nice touch, with good views of the surrounding hills.
Cons: The kitchen could have been a bit better stocked, there was only a couple of cups, one plate, a spoon and a knife that we could find. Fine for making coffee though. There is a decent restaurant downstairs though so it didn't matter too much.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room is big. The WiFi is good in the common area, where there are some nice hammocks.
Cons: The WiFi was not working in our room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and friendly staff!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location right opposite the taxi station and right in the middle. Great WiFi. Good hammocks for chilling out. Friendly owner.
Cons: Could have been a little cleaner.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly family and Very nice room. We even stayed longer than planned. It was clean and comfortable.
Cons: The kitchen was a bit small and could have had better equipment. the first day they had a problem with the water, which they fixed immediately but we still had brown water coming out. After a while it was getting better.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are super friendly and made us feel very welcome. They are the main reason why we are very satisfied with our stay at River Sound! The location, in the middle of the village of Minca, is very convenient - just 200m from the bus stop to Santa Marta, and only a few minutes away from all the good restaurants. The wifi connection is excellent! There is no air-conditioning, but there was a well-functioning fan in the room, to take the edge off. The owner did our laundry at a very good price.
Cons: The bathroom was not super comfortable. The shower head had been removed (probably to maximize the flow of water...) which felt like showering with a hosepipe. The floor in the bathroom was slanted in a way that the water didn't flow to the drain, but instead pooled in a corner of the shower...

7.9 Good
Pros: Cheap dorm room, nice location by local plaza, a bit far from everything else, but there are plenty of buses. Plenty of options for hammocks and outdoor seating. Clean. Friendly staff.
Cons: The bathroom stinks. It clearly was not cleaned that day. Or perhaps the day or days before too.
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff very friendly and did our laundry in double quick time. Were very helpful in advising us on getting around. Couldn't fault that. We also received breakfast.
Cons: Location wasn't good if you wanted to get around to Tayrona or Minca. A real phaff to go back to santa Marta to get everywhere. Not that clean and no toilet roll in toilets.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: WiFi reached my room well Great kitchen Beautiful building Smart TV with Netflix A bar with hammocks Comfy bed
Cons: Only that the swimming pool is under maintenance so I couldn't use it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was SO super friendly! They welcomed us, showed us around and were always there for us. They even helped us when we wanted to buy some stuff in the city and showed us the way and helped us to negotiate. They even helped us with the bbq and made everything perfect. I think I never experienced such nice people who were totally committed to their work. And the Villa and rooms were just nice, beautiful decorations and a big pool! I really miss this hostel, thank you!!!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good wifi, nice lady running the place. Left my butter and hot sauce in the fridge by accident so enjoy if you find. Be nice to the tortuga!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely good value and spacious room right in the centre of Minca. Just off the main high street. Spotlessly clean.
Cons: Kitchen has posters all around saying don't use it more than once a day. Felt like you weren't really welcome to use it. Quite dated but to be expected for the price!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very friendly and helpful. You could make yourself feel like home. Would stay there again.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location (Minca is so small that everything is near). Room very very basic: bed with a fan. You can use the kitchen once a day. Cold shower but fine when it’s hot outside. A few hammock on the terrace.
Cons: Bed uncomfortable. Room really small, bad isolation.

Pros: The welcoming was very good. The staff, as every Colombian was nice, friendly and warm. The rooms are basics but comfortable. Breakfast is served in the garden. The property is seafront. I strongly recommend this hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I travel alone. Breakfast was timely and satisfactory. Staff was excellently helpful. Room was basic, clean, and comfortable. I was there waiting for a week, between bus and air flight.
Cons: My lack of Spanish skills was an issue for me, but not the staff.
4.2 Okay
Cons: The hotel is quite old, almost everything is broken. The shower had just a tube. Air conditioning does not cool the room. The location of the hotel is terrible. I would never walk with my family in the neighborhoods by night, very dangerous.

Pros: The staff, as every Colombian, was supernice and helpful. They showed us all available rooms and asked us to decide which one we liked more. The breakfast, served in the garden, was very good. The hotel is right in front of the seafront.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room space
Cons: There was water and there wasnt sometimes.
6.7 Good
Pros: The ladies working in the hotel were very nice and one even offered me the coke I had at the hotel.
Cons: The hotel is very basic, not the cleanest (hair still in the bathroom) but it's ok if you only stay for one night, it has good TV and air conditioning. Internet is slow. It is quite far from the main touristic sights but still walkable. It was also strange the lady in charge who I only talked to on the phone was announcing me another price from the one of booking and it's the only time it ever happened to me. She also mentioned that normally foreigners had to pay the 19% tax but they were not covering it which is not true, foreigners do not pay it. In the end I just paid what was written on my booking reservation email but that was not pleasant having to deal with this.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I liked the good care of the people that gave me the breakfast
9.2 Excellent
Pros: All staff brilliantly friendly and out of their way helpful. Close to supermarkets, bus terminals and a restaurant. There is a kitchen you can use. Staff were really understanding and check out is at 3.
Cons: No door to bathroom in your room Small rooms
