Pros: We loved everything about our stay!!The staff made a special effort fro my husbands birthday and brought us a lovely little treat of Port and fruit some sweets. The grounds are so peaceful and relaxing, and quiet. A perfect place to rest and recharge and relax for a romantic getaway. We were the first people at breakfast and were able to sit outdoors and have our coffee, then came inside to a fabulous buffet. Perfection in presentation, choices, flavours and freshness. Fresh squeezed OJ mmm. Tea of all kinds, The meal and presentation clearly made with love.
Cons: The in room robes were both a small size- I love a big cozy robe- but am not complaining- it did fit, just not possible for anyone more than medium sized- maybe they have shrunken in the laundering
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing views - and amazingly beautiful property
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived, we kept saying wow. Everything was excellent, the staff, views, pool area etc. The breakfast room is so relaxing and we loved the way the girls looked after you. The staff just want you to enjoy your holiday with them First rate, Well done.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing views! Very comfy, staff very nice and helpful. Very high standards of cleanliness.
7.9 Good
Pros: Comfortable room Great bath with jacuzzi option Beautiful views on the lake
Cons: For such a small luxurious and highly priced room we were expecting a very nice and personable welcome. Instead the lady was quick and rushed. I had to ask three times about the facilities and she pointed at a price list on a desk not interested in selling any of their water sports or other services. She didn't explain anything about the area or asked about what we wanted to see/do etc. She sent us to a hotel nearby to have dinner only for us to find out that it was on reservation only and therefore had to wait 1.5 hours in a bar to get a table in an empty restaurant. We were dreaming of a nice low key romantic dinner at sunset and actually stumbled across a nice Room service and pic nic menu under other papers on the desk whilst were settling the final bill.... Needless to say we didn't appreciate. In such a quiet and remote location I would also limit the clientele to adults only as having kids splashing in the infinity pool as the sun sets is really not relaxing... Beautiful setting and great room but will not go back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and Rooms are perfect. Staff is extremely helpful and will do everything they can to make your stay more enjoyable and comfortable. Breakfast buffet has good food variety.

Pros: This was by far one of the best experiences we have had. Rui & Elizabeth were amazing hosts and their home was stunning. The setting on the Douro river, the delicious dinner and breakfast, the attention to detail everywhere was not lost on us! We would recommend doing the half board as Elizabeth is an excellent chef. Rui recommended a delicious wine with dinner that we won’t forget. We only wish we could have stayed longer.
Cons: It was a bit tricky to find if you aren’t familiar with the area but our GPS helped tremendously.

7.1 Good
Pros: Comfy bed, nice location.

Pros: The owners. Rooi and Elisabeth.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a lovely authentic quinta only an hour or so from Porto. Elizabete was incredibly friendly and sweet even though we didn’t speak much Portuguese and she doesn’t speak too much English! We were starving by the time we got there in the afternoon and she called ahead to a local restaurant to make sure they could accomodate us. Definitely get the half board option with dinner included. She cooked us a delicious meal and suggested lovely local wines, finishing with a glass of port. The views were great, and our room was spotless. Really one of the most special places we have stayed.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: At Casa da Lavand'eira we got more than we expected. We've never experienced so warm welcome. Alexa, the owner, showed us the property, told us about the history of it, talked with us a lot which was extremely interesting. She also let us choose a room! The staff was really helpful, they prepared a dinner for us even if we were the only guests at that time. And the place... Comfortable bedroom, huge common space, pool outside the main house, vineyards, gardens, delicious food and chill tasty wine. We will definitely come back. Highly recommend this place! Alexa, thank you very much for everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is our second time staying here and this is the most stunning and relaxing place to be. The house it self is so beautiful and the surroundings are so magical. Alex is very kind and all the staff are very warm and friendly. We loved being there so much and we can’t wait to come back again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A bit off the beaten path, but a totally charming stay - besides the well maintained villa (be sure to check out all the public rooms) there is a vineyard, some waterfalls (!) and trails on the property, a well cultivated pool and garden area, and an event space. In the morning, I got a tour of the garage with some vintage cars, and lots of advice on the nearby sights. The breakfast spread was great as well.
Cons: The internet was out due to a recent storm, probably won’t be an issue when you stay but it wasn’t mentioned when I was chatting/booking so maybe double check if that’d be an issue.

Pros: Super friendly and helpful owner Maria! We had very cozy and clean room in old stone house. After arriving Maria served us glasses of port wine what was very kind. At morning, tasty homemade breakfast was waiting us at terrace with good view. We was there only for one night but place is worth to stay much longer. If sometimes we coming back to this region we definitely choose Maria's place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner is a very nice person and always willing to help, the house is located in a beautiful place especially if you like to be in contact with nature. The breakfast is wonderful, home made and delicious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place, in the mountains close to Porto. Nice places to visit close by, such as Porto, also small villages, the river Douro, the mountains, et cetera. Warm welcome. Swimming pool in the garden. Nice breakfast, every morning. Great boat trip on the river.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a real gem. Maria was a fantastic host and did everything she could to make our stay enjoyable. Her breakfasts on the terrace were fabulous and the location was unbeatable. It is set in beautiful shady gardens and you can walk down to the Bestanca river to go bouldering. We also went on Maria's husband's boat on the Douro. Highly recommended.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful breakfast served on deck with breathtaking views. Wifi great. Maria is an incredible host so friendly and welcoming and very knowledgeable about the area and what is available. The room we stayed in was very quaint with lovely bathroom and spotlessly clean. Loved our stay. Thankyou!
Cons: Nothing!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Maria, the host, couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome. She couldn't do enough for us, it was a wonderful experience. We felt almost like family! Food was good. The location is beautiful, very peaceful, wonderful views of the Hills and River Valley. Room was basic, but very cosy, Swimming Pool was nice (but cold, as expected).
Cons: Minor issue with Wi-Fi, but wasn't really a problem for us. Water pressure issues for a day or two, not the Host's fault, just one of those things in rural Portugal. Not being able to stay longer!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful area. We were upgraded to a much better villa on arrival which was lovely. Breakfast was delicious and so much of the food was homemade and made of home grown products. Communication was easy and Maria Dolores was a welcoming and instructive hostess.
Cons: We would have liked to have a more comfortable chair to sit in during the evenings. Unfortunately the swimming pool was out of use although we were aware of the problem before we arrived and the weather probably was not warm enough to use in any case.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful small family owned place. The owner spoke english, french and spanish (as well of course Portugese) while we were there. He is very attentive and always ready to chat, help and offer advice. Breakfast was good with fresh bread and different home-made cakes and jams appearing each morning. The place has been renovated in an ecletic, charming style and the bed and bedroom size was comfortable.
Cons: When we visited there was a house being built next door which woke us up once around 07:45. Looks like it will take 6 months to complete. However if like us you wanted to be up and out to see the wonderful Douro it wasn't too much of a problem.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was very nice, but the location was disappointing. It's a hard to reach place, due to the mountain roads that are user-unfriendly. There was little action in the town.
Cons: The owner was attentive, but perhaps a bit too attentive, kept telling us where to go for dinner, what to chose in each restaurant, despite we didn't ask... We appreciate his willing ness to help, but it is also nice that one is left alone at some point... We were hoping to get some wine tasting nearby, but there was nothing. We payed with card, and were charged a card fee that we were not aware of. It's not for the 3€, but rather the principle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owner is super-friendly. Amazing breakfast. Place is nicer than photo suggests. 200 years old, but modern inside.
6.3 Good
Cons: We found the beds incredibly uncomfortable, extremely hard beds !! We did not sleep well at all. Softer mattress would do the trick I’m sure.
7.5 Good
Pros: The house and rooms are very comfortable, nicely decorated with quality furniture. The bathrooms are modern and comfortable. The people (owners) are very friendly. And anything you ask, you get it. Nothing is too much asked. Fresh towels every day. Good service. Very good breakfast, self made products. People there know how to do a business. But maybe do their best too much. Very friendly woman. She gave our kids a candy at the end of our stay. Over all...we had a good stay.
Cons: The bathroom sink was difficult to use. Modern but not functional. Whenever we washed our face lots of water would go to the floor. For me, personally the mattress of the bed was too hard. I'm very much on my privacy. So i would like the owner to step back a bit more and not be that present. Other people might like his presence but we like more distancy. Under the bed, there was lots of dust. It was clean but not very clean. My parents stayed in a room close to the busy road and reception. So lots of noise for them.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is a family run business, the property man was very helpful. In all the property is very clean had a nice view from our room. I would really recommend this hotel and will stay there again if i ever visit :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Joesph our host , welcomed us and made us feel very welcomed. He has a genuine interest in people and went above and beyond to give us information on the area. The value for the property was excellent.
Cons: It was difficult to find.
7.1 Good
Pros: Ok for a night, nice garden, good for a transit stop!
Cons: Felt a bit weird during the breakfast when the owner was approaching out table every second and staying all the time in the breakfast room, as we were with a child, who was running around, seems he didn’t want him to touch anything at all, removing things away! Check-out lasted for 30 minutes either i asked to pay at the time of check-in!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jozef the owner was very nice and hellfull, gave us reccomondation aboute the village. He gave us a tour in his amazing house, the place was spaprkling clean, the bad was realy comfortable, the bath was Big and nice! Pros: We totally loved our stay at the Quinta. Location is simply amazing, you can see wine yards and the Douro river and enjoy the sounds of nature in a small village. The house is a Quinta built 300years ago and totally renovated, with very nice, clean and comfortable rooms. The family is very warm and it seems like you are at home. Breakfast was amazing, with homemade cakes and local pastries and fruits. Last but not least, you can enjoy the swimming pool!
7.9 Good
Pros: The breakfast was very good. The vue is very nice. The staff was extremely nice. The room was confortable. The decoration of the house contrasts very nicely with the premises.
Cons: I would prefer the living room - placed at floor -1 - at floor 0, next to the fireplace. I would prefer dinner to be available
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great hosts, very kind and attentive. Beautiful Quinta that is well looked after and has amazing views. The bedroom had a balcony with a great view too. Newly renovated rooms that were quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed our breakfast. Great pool facilities. We were able to check in at 9pm.
Cons: The toilet wasn't very clean (the toilet bowl specifically). It took some time to get hold of the contact person to ask questions about the facilities and check in time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, super friendly owners, peace and quiet.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hosts... so welcoming & friendly The location is amazing the walk to the river is superb
Cons: no one seems to understand or speak English in the facility Presence of rodents & pest control
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were so accommodating and made sure that we were happy at all times. We were offered wine made by the host (it was excellent), grapes, peaches, oranges, lemons all grown on the property. The kiwis will be ripe in December! Honey is also made on the property. The pool was wonderful as was the stream that runs through the property to the Duoro River.
Cons: There was nothing that we didn't like.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the chalet which is newly renovated to a high standard and fully equipped including airconditioning (which we did not use) with beautiful views across the valley. The owners are super friendly and shared the tastiest oranges from the property with us. Lovely pool and a private swimming place in the Bestanca river with many fish and birds including a Kingfisher (about 1 km upstream from the public swimming area - check eg TripAdvisor). Driveways all newly paved. Good spot from which to explore the Douro valley.
Cons: Be aware that payment is by cash or bank transfer only - no cards. WLAN in the Chalet crashed a couple of times, but there was always a good connection at the pool and in the main house

Pros: Manuel and Rute were excellent hosts-beautiful view-food was awesome and reasonably priced
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view from the balcony was superb
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really nice hotel, spotlesly clean room, lovely view of Douro. Nice food. Great vines. Big pool. Really calm and quiet. I would give it all a 10/10 but then the best thing are the owners, who made our stay great. Was our first time here, and will be back here whenever in Douro region.
Cons: That we had no more time to spend here and rest.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The spacious simple but tastefully decorated room. The amazing view. The friendly owners and staff. Good starting point for the “Rota do Romanico” around the Douro
Cons: The following remark is not meant to be negative! The parking of the hotel is reached by a steep cobbled street. The staff will come up by electric car to collect the guests and luggage.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The views were amazing and Manuel was incredibly helpful & v kind. There was lots to do around the area and was gorgeous.
Cons: It was v hot when we were there, could have done with a fan for the bedrooms
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful and nice staff trying to make everything possible and more to satisfy our needs and requests Nice rooms with amazing view over Douro river
Cons: The way to the hotel is a little tricky
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice, clean, great facilites, great view but first and foremost the service from the dedicated people. So focused to make it the best possible stay for you. Nearby town holds train station for Douro or Porto trips.
Cons: Nothing - all was good.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Manuel and his wife were exceptionally accommodating and attentive to every request. Dinner at the hotel was excellent and the best value of a ten day trip to Portugal. Christiana, the cook, went out of her way to make everything perfect, and always with a big smile. PAY ATTENTION to the directions to the site. Exceptional views of the Douro river but its hillside location can be tricky. 5 Stars
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Simple the best room view I ever had. Staff is really friendly. Hotel is in a remote place ideally for you to disconnect from the world.
Cons: The outdoor pool it not of easy access. You need to walk around 10 minutes in the forest without many signs. The beds are not really confortable.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location and the views. The relatively new hotel has been built with much care. Pool very relaxing. Breakfast good. Owners and staff very helpful.
Cons: Signage and the ability to find the property was challenging. A local from a local bar drove his car for us to follow. A larger sign on the road would have been very helpful. Advice on booking that there is assistance with baggage would be helpful. It is a 10 minute walk down hill on cobbles to reach the hotel. It was fantastic to have the cart bring the bags back up to the car.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything !!
Cons: Nothing not to like!
7.9 Good
Pros: Hotel is located in a beautiful setting and the food at the restaurant is very good.
Cons: Although the hotel was located in a beautiful setting I was disappointed by the reception we got. I paid for the romantic package and mentioned that we are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary but on entering the room there was absolutely nothing there to make us feel special. We went downstairs 30 minutes after checking in for dinner and only after asking the gentleman at reception I was told that they cannot leave the sparkling wine if they do not know when we are checking in. Later on return we found a small bottle and some droopy strawberries. No note, flowers (as promised when I booked) so will not be returning here. It is all about the manner in which one feels welcomed and the warmth and hospitality was definitely lacking here. there was also no water offered for free and on check out I was charged far over 2 euros for the water i took from the fridge after I got thirsty during the night.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very courteous staff, willing to help. Communal areas very clean. When requesting to change to a room with balcony promptly messaged me to say that was possible. View from room absolutely stunning, evening sun on the balcony. Lovely pool. Access to river with cruise boats passing by. Ate on the promenade area in front of hotel, excellent food, beautiful setting. Highly recommend this place if touring the Douro valley.
Cons: Nothing was poor here.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I liked the view and the breakfast.
Cons: I have nothing to complain about.
6.7 Good
Pros: The exterior was lovely and great location on the river.
Cons: The rooms were dated
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location between Porto and higher Douro. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice terrace but chilly because of the wind in the early October evenings.
Cons: Internet is unusable from room because of low signal strength - should be easy to fix so management should act on this comment. From time to time there is a sewage smell in the bar in spite of the electric air odorizers. Restaurant is OK but below expectations for a four-star hotel.

Pros: The view
5.0 Okay
Pros: This hotel is in a beautiful setting, right on the wateredge of the river Douro. Stunning views from the decking and balconies
Cons: However, like others mention in reviews - the food was poor and unfortunately for us the breakfast was not outstanding as previously mentioned in reviews. Apart from the outstanding views the hotel was generally underwhelming.
7.0 Good
Pros: Beautiful setting on the River, good for walking and water sports. Breakfast very good.
Cons: Restaurant food only fair.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully located in a stunning location right on the river, the hotel is modern and stylish. The view from the bedroom down the river was stunning. All the staff seemed to speak English. The pool was well equipped with modern chairs and sun loungers alongside the river with waterside bar. On a warm night dinner was served at tables beside the river, although the food didn't quite live up to the location. Breakfast was served in the large, elegant and modern restaurant and was an excellent continental breakfast with a large choice. A lovely hotel in a super location which we would consider staying at again for more than one night to enable us to take a boat trip from the hotel jetty and catch a train into Porto from the local station
5.2 Okay
Pros: Fantastic view and location
Cons: Inexperience staff, old looking sheets and towels, food at the restaurante well bellow expectations
6.4 Good
Pros: Breakfeast was very good.
Cons: It takes a long trip to see the attractions nearby, due to the secondary routes to be slow.
6.0 Good
Pros: The location at an ancient Port wine harbor and the view of the Douro from the front rooms are excellent. Direct access to the water, with mooring fingers, is great for people who like kayaking or other water sports. A nice walk in the mountains, some seven kilometers away (and six kilometers long), departing from Vila de Muros, lets you visit a nice roman bridge over the Bestança river and enjoy great views.
Cons:

Cons: Not the fault of the property, but you definitely need a car to move around from here.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: A unique property located in the beautiful Douro valley. There are 8 rooms with en suite bathrooms. A swimming pool and beautiful grounds. Attached to a private chapel this is a lovely find. A little hard to navigate to but GPS helps. Only 1 cafe and 1 restaurant in the village but the restaurant is outstanding and fabulous owners. The accommodation is comfortable if a little dated but the hosts and housekeeper were lovely. Breakfast is included in the very affordable 60 Euro a night for a double room. The history of the property is very interesting. A little drive to other areas of the Douro which means up and down winding mountain roads but the scenery is worth it. The locals are fabulously friendly and helpful.
Cons: Nothing really.
9.6 Excellent

Cons: The breakfast is a simple, there are no comments. There is not easy to find the property.

Cons: Shower and no internet.

Pros: Owner was friendly and talkactive, very special kind of house equipment-it seems that you are in different dimension, its autentic and we realy love it. Nice view and landscape arround you. Great welcomme cake
Cons: A little bit difficult acces to the house on steeply and by stone covered road. But you can leave your car on the main road up the house. Forget for supermarket, the nearest Niger village is 20-30 minutes by car. But This is not problem, it is only about your preferations.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The host and the full house are just amazing, with full of old furnitures, pictures, memories. Beautiful view over the Douro Valley.
Cons: The pool was not clean.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cozy, charming and pet friendly place. The interior had lovely furniture and a rustic fireplace. The outside views to the valley were amazing... The onwer was very friendly and helpful! We were received with a nice cake and coffee
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We really liked this accomodation. It looks like the pictures and it is a house full of stories with a very kind host. She knows the area and really helps you out. There is no breakfast possible but you do have free coffee and tea. It wasn't easy to park the car on the driveway but there were places on the street, for which you have to climb a little bit to get there. You can't use the swimming pool anymore so that picture better gets deleted from the website.
Cons: swimming pool wasn't clean enough to use
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is full of art, you'll discover a new surprise behind every corner. Free coffee and chocolate cake. Very nice view and terrace. A lot of cats. Very friendly owner. Cheap rooms.
Cons: Breakfast was quite expensive (10 euro and basic) compared to the rate of room.
